Oh, it totally slipped my mind that you're playing
Twilight Princess Ganondorf. I was partial to toon Link because I'm already playing a fairly silent character, but I think I can make it work anyway. Have some Link.
Name: Link
Approximate Age: 17
Gender: Male
Game Series:
The Legend of Zelda
Game Version:
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Description:
Note that, although that is how Link will look for the vast majority of the RPG, he will initially be dressed like
this at the very beginning, and then change to the Hero's Garb once crap hits the fan.
Link is a man of stature typical for his age. His angled facial features, swooshy blonde hair and stunning blue eyes make him quite handsome. As a Hylian, the only defining feature that differentiates him from a human would be his pointed, elven ears, although these don't grant him superior hearing or any other peculiarity. He adorns them with silver studs.
As a peasant who has been doing manual labor throughout his life, Link is also in excellent physical condition and quite strong, for which he's perfectly capable of holding his own in battle. He's well-toned with a focus on the upper body, making him perfect for melee combat. He wears the Hero's Garb, an outfit that has become iconic of the series, being almost entirely green. It consists of a green tunic or long shirt that reaches down to about his knees, made of rough material and worn with age. Directly under it he wears a light piece of chain mail, which can be seen peeking out from under his sleeves and the bottom of the piece, protecting him from blades. Still under this he wears an off-white, coarse shirt and pants. His forearms are protected by tough leather guards; the same material that his boots are made of.
Link wears a leather strap across his torso which holds the Master Sword's sheath tightly to his back. The sheath itself is ornately decorated, sporting a lapizlazuli hue and fine gold details. From it emerges the Master Sword, legendary weapon of Hyrule's messiah. Its blade gleams at over three feet long, pulsating with the power concealed by it.
Personality:
Link is a man of--don't laugh--few words. His simple lifestyle has taught him that actions have greater worth, and nothing can be explained as well as it can be experienced. The country is a place of silent reflection and things that do not need to be said, for which he's severely put off by the overly verbose or people who don't just get to the point. Due to his tendency to remain silent he may come off as serious or even condescending, when in reality he's a very humble and simple man with a very black-and-white sense of justice, which masks the endless sense of dread that comes with having been through Hell.
The Triforce piece that Link holds is Courage, and perhaps that is the best single word to describe him. Link has a sort of drive and motivation that is rarely seen in today's age; he, a boy with a sword and a ridiculous hat, will trudge through millennial dungeons and face off against monstruosities several times larger and stronger than him--and
emerge victorious. It's not that Link doesn't feel fear, but the Spirit of Power's influence lets him overcome his humanity and go beyond what would be considered probable. He'll go to extreme lengths to protect those he deems important to him, and to destroy those he deems to be a hazard. This brings us back to his extremely polarized perception of right and wrong; in this sense he is a hero of classic literature, endowed with the ability to immediately identify evil and strike it down without fuss. Perhaps this reveals a lack of complexity in his character and worldview, as the 'shades of grey' mentality doesn't really stick with him; you can be a good guy or you can be a bad guy, or you can get out of the way and let him do his damn job.
On a more day-to-day basis, Link is a helpful and charitable individual, as willing to crack a joke as the next person. He's also quite earnest, knowing what a real day of work is, and thus things that would discourage others may not phase him at all. Gaining his friendship is easy; gaining his trust is not.
History:
Link was a farm hand at the village of Ordon, a small settlement off the capital of Hyrule, living a fairly simple life. On a fateful day the village was seized by monsters, who carried off the village's children; Link, determined to save them, pursued the perpetrators, but encountered what appeared to be a strange, solidified haze that blocked him off from continuing. A shadow suddenly pulled him into the Twilight, and he suffered a transformation into a wolf. As it would turn out, the Twilight was a poison infesting Hyrule, transforming all victims into intangible souls; however, Link, as the prophesized Hero, took a different form, but was promptly knocked out and imprisoned.
Link broke out with the help of a mysterious, impish being named Midna, who apparently was connected to Princess Zelda, whose current whereabouts were unknown. Guiding Link as a wolf to the princess, she explained that she had gone into hiding after Twilight King Zant had usurped the throne and invaded Hyrule by defeating the guardian Light Spirits; his entrance into this world caused the Twilight to seep out, transforming people into ectoplasm.
Link set out to restore the Spirits, who in turn returned him to his human form and revealed his fate as the Hero of yore. Link agreed to carry this weight and helped Midna recover the Fused Shadows, relics containing useful magic--in return, Midna helped Link recover the lost village children.
The two seemed to be on the way to completing their quest when they were suddenly and inadvertedly attacked by Zant himself, who mortally wounded Midna and took the painstakingly-recovered Fused Shadows. Desperate, Link carried Midna to Zelda once again in order to have her healed, while Zelda explained that Link would need the legendary Master Sword in order to return to his original form. Link accomplished this and Midna guided him to the Mirror of Twilight, the only known link between the realm of the Twili and Hyrule. They soon discovered, however, that Zant shattered the Mirror on his way out, leaving them to recover the scattered pieces. In the process they discovered that the ancestral sorcerer and keeper of the Triforce piece of Power--Ganondorf--had been imprisoned in the Twilight Realm for over a century by the Sages, implying that he managed to make an escape thanks to Zant.
Restoring the Mirror of Twilight allowed the duo to travel into the Twilight Realm, but not before Midna found out that
she is the true ruler of the Twili; she was usurped by Zant shortly before his rampage through Link's world. In the Twilight Realm they confronted the usurper king himself, who revealed that Ganondorf gave him the great power he now wielded in order to take Hyrule for him. A battle ensued where Link managed to defeat Zant, and Midna used the restored Fused Shadows to extinguish him completely.
Marching towards the final battle, now in Hyrule, Link and Midna found that Ganondorf has indeed succeeded thanks to Zant, and held Zelda under his magical grip. Helping the princess free herself from Ganondorf's possession, Link attempted to fight the sorcerer and put him down--Midna interrupted, teleporting him and Zelda outside of Hyrule Castle to take him down himself.
However, Hyrule Castle was destroyed, and Ganondorf rose apparently victorious, holding Midna's hollow helm. Enraged, Link rushed to battle Ganondorf himself, in a desperate struggle that ultimately resulted in Link's victory. In their gratitude, the Light Spirits revived Midna and restored her to her true form, in which she could access the Twilight Realm as absolute ruler of the Twili. Link and Midna shared a tearful goodbye; she returned to her own world and destroyed the Mirror of Twilight, severing the only link between them.
Link returned to a relatively peaceful life after the events of
Twilight Princess, but maintains a close relationship with the now-Queen Zelda in case anything were to happen again. As far as Link knows, Midna rules over the Twilight and all is right with the world.
Moveset:
Link's strength lies in his immense hammerspace inventory of various weapons and tools, so his moveset is limited to close-combat techniques.
--
Spin Attack
Link holds his sheathed sword and stays in place, charging energy. When released, he spins around with his sword out, slashing all surrounding enemies. The longer time spent charging, the stronger the slash; a fully-charged Spin Attack is known as a Great Spin.
Link can also use this technique in midair to rise thanks to the spinning motion, but it doesn't cover much distance.
--
Shield Attack
For this technique, Link bashes the enemy with his shield instead. It's not nearly as strong as a sword strike, but the blunt force can often break the guard of an enemy, creating an opening for Link to exploit.
--
Helm Splitter
This attack can only be used against a stunned or otherwise incapacitated enemy, or one whose guard has been broken by "Shield Attack". Link leaps into the air and brings his sword down vertically in order to split the foe's head in two (ideally). The attack does quite a bit of damage and hurts just to watch, but the set-up is somewhat tricky.
Weapons:
Link has an infinite stock of these weapons unless otherwise noted.
--
Master Sword
The legendary Master Sword represents the Hero of Time's power, and is the only weapon effective against Ganondorf and his spawn. It is roughly three feet long, with a double-edged blade that gleams splendorously. It is especially effective against the impious of heart or those otherwise aligned with darkness, but cannot be used to strike down the innocent.
--
Hylian Shield
An elegant, metallic shield that serves well in close combat. It will absorb most blows with competent efficiency and can also be used to bash enemies with if necessary. It's kind of heavy, so Link can't use it too swiftly.
--
Gale Boomerang
A well-crafted, wooden boomerang endowed with the spirit of a wind fairy. The Gale Boomerang can be used to strike enemies or targets from afar, and its breezy pull can bring both enemies and items toward Link; however, the heavier they are, the less effective this will be. The Boomerang's strike isn't too damaging itself, so it's somewhat more of a utility weapon.
--
Hero's Bow
An ancient but finely-crafted bow used by a hero of yore. The bow's size and resistance are perfect for Link's size and strength, and he uses it quite adeptly and with considerable accuracy. The Hero's Bow is perfect for ranged combat, but it probably can't match up to hi-tech ranged weaponry, such as firearms.
--
Bombs
Link can produce spherical, dark blue bombs with long wicks on the top. As soon as Link takes out a bomb it is lit and cannot be put out; he has five or six seconds before it detonates. Link can throw a bomb to deal considerable damage or clear obstacles, but needs to watch out to not get blown up himself.
Bombs can be combined with arrows to create the aptly-named Bomb Arrows. By fitting a bomb onto the arrowhead, Link can shoot deadly long-distance projectiles which will explode upon impact.
--
Spinner
An ancient, flat, circular machine that seems to be a part of lost technology. Link rides it sort of like a circular skateboard or enlarged top. The Spinner's smooth surface and magical gravitational modulators allow Link to traverse rough terrain with relative ease, although he cannot float over water or through midair with this. Link can also use the Spinner to crash into enemies for some damage, or ride metallic tracks.
--
Empty Bottle
Self-explanatory. Empty bottles are apparently a rare commodity in Link's world, and he can use them to fill them up with anything that may be useful later on: water, milk, lantern oil, or faeries are only a few of the myriad of options. Link only carries one of these.
--
Clawshot
An ancient, gauntlet-like device from which a chain with a hook shoots out. Link can use the Clawshot to hang on to higher grappling points and reach normally inaccessible heights. The chain begins to quickly retracts as soon as the hook makes contact with a grappling point. I plan on having Link obtain a second Clawshot further into the RPG, turning this weapon into the Dual Clawshots.
Final Smash:
Triforce Lock
Link casts powerful, arcane magic on a single target, provided by the Three Goddesses. The target becomes immobile, trapped within two glowing representations of the Triforce, while Link is endowed with superhuman power and uses it to deal a myriad of fast slashes at the helpless foe. His final strike breaks through the magic lock itself, sending the enemy flying.
