Backstory

On the mystical island of Avalon, the high priestess carried out the council, a ring of wizards and lesser priests gathered in a circle before her. After much chanting and singing of ancient hymns, the council summoned an enchanted sword, which rose out of the earth like a ghost. This they passed to the high priestess, who would decide its fate. After a moment of contemplation, in one graceful motion, the high priestess turned and walked towards the western coast, where she cast the sword into the sea.

In the time after the sword hit the bottom of the sea, the land of Crownen arose. This was a massive continent in the shape of a bird, Avalon being its "egg". The large and forbidding Sentinel Mountains rose first, right along the bird's back, and the legendary Wolfsbane River cascaded from the highest glade within its peaks. Forests and plains sprouted, digging intricate caves and faery lairs in roots of trees and hollows within the ground. And there after the land was formed, folk from lands afar began to inhabit Crownen, from the elves in the wing to the pirates and ne'er-do-wells in the head, to the harpies of the Nightwing Lake in the foot and the mighty lions of the Pandrean Desert. Folk came from lands and legends of old, from faery-tale worlds and times of the old earth.

Then there was the Holy Land, nestled in the back side of this bird-shaped continent, where the religions of the world would gather and collaborate. But even so, this region was often overseen by two goddesses: Maia, goddess of light; and Katami, goddess of darkness. Even though the goddesses were literally like night and day, they still spent some time traveling around Crownen together, marveling its beauty and heritage.

After much traveling, Maia and Katami discovered an ancient temple deep below the heart of Crownen. Inside this temple, resting in the very centre of the round and spacious chamber, was none other than the Sword cast by the high priestess of Avalon long ago. Both goddesses knew that whoever held this sword could bend Crownen to their will... but as they were goddesses, they themselves could not wield the Sword. Instead, they each chose a mortal individual, a puppet of sorts, to do the job.

Maia, being the goddess of light, desired peace and harmony in all existence. She wished Crownen would be a lovely place where all the races would exist harmoniously, where there would be no need for wars and disputes. Thus, she turned to the most benevolent and influential leader she knew: Satani Merelda, the queen of Crownen.

It was Satani who founded and instructed the seven Star Knights, who were long considered the "heroes" of Crownen. These were not only knights, but people of varied skills and abilities and races--there were two wizards among them, for example. With keen intuitions and fair senses of justice, the Star Knights trimmed the tree of dangerous crimes throughout the land, defeating feared enemies like Captain Dom o'Willy and his dirty shipmates, and the infamously sadistic Vampyres of Nemaforte. Satani gave these Knights council and guidance, thus being the key to their success. They were a small group, but they hoped to grow into a large organisation of warriors and peace-makers.

Katami, being the goddess of darkness, desired chaos, pain, and corruption. As she traveled around Crownen, she was disgusted by all the happy faces on people, and thought life was "too easy" here. To set Crownen straight and put an interesting spin on things, she looked to a cult of a mysterious, esoteric race called the Sakh. Mornain, leader of the Sakh, piqued Katami's interest as a being of ill intention.

The Sakh were recognised by their horned and fluffy-haired heads, their reptilian eyes, their arrow-tipped tails, and their small draconic wings. Mornain was a well-known spellcaster in this cult, and performed many wondrous miracles--he could heal a fellow Sakh's wounds in a heartbeat, he could manipulate the weather when he sacrificed a fellow Sakh, and he was said to be able to enter people's dreams freely. Not only that, he was gifted in alchemy, and was best known for turning large stones into deadly weapons made of pure diamond. He did some wonderful things, but to get on his nice list, one had to believe that he was the supreme god of Crownen.

And so it was a race--who would reach the Sword first? Maia and Katami guided their chosen along, bending the elements to their favour, clashing their powers when their chosen got too close together, threatening the chosen of the other. It was an epic race indeed, and the tales of it are still told today... but in the end, it turned out that Satani and Mornain reached opposite sides of the Temple at the same time. This temple would stage their epic battle...

...Or not. A battle would have started, but then Satani did something rather odd. Taking a step backwards, she said to Mornain,

"Mornain. I can see this Sword has the very power to change the course of Crownen to the desires of its owner. I can think of several good uses for this sword if it passes into my hands. However, I do not need such a power. One does not need a sword accursed as this to arouse peace in this world. You, Mornain, may take the Sword if you so desire, but be aware of the karmic impacts that arise from your use of it."

Mornain stopped to think for a moment. For what seemed like a very long time, he and Satani stood in silence, facing each other with the Sword between them. Then, with a smirk on his face, Mornain grabbed the Sword, plunging it into Satani's chest. Satani died, and with her, so did the Merelda dynasty which would have continued had Maia gotten her way. Even the Star Knights lost a bit of their power; they held a grand funeral for the fallen queen, and were on their own without protection from then on.

As for Mornain, after he killed Satani and licked her blood off the Sword, he laughed. And then he laughed some more. And his laughter rose into great bellows. That laughter became an evil power spreading throughout Crownen in the years afterward. The Sakh, who were overyjoyed by the presence of the Sword, multiplied and came out of hiding, seizing the heart of Crownen. They hired many a sorcerer and assassin to do their bidding, and sent orders to kill anyone who did not see Mornain as Crownen's supreme god. Their first targets were the elves, who they also found to be very tasty when killed.

But even with Mornain's reign spreading like butter across a cob of corn, there were many who opposed Mornain's strategy for creating "the perfect world". Foremost among these people were none other than the Star Knights, struggling to keep Satani and Maia's wishes alive. There was a grand battle at one point--the Battle of Starfall, waged on opposite sides of the Wolfsbane River. The Knights were able to defeat a good chunk of the Sakh, but there is a reason why the battle was called Starfall. In the end the Star Knights fell, to the larger army of the Sakh, and even to the terrible sorcery of Mornain himself. Four of them died, one of whom was Parth, Satani's son. The remaining three retreated, never to be seen again.

Not even the next king of Crownen was any help. With Parth dead, King Ben took the throne, having been Satani's advisor and financial manager in the past. However, he refused to support the Star Knights, instead gathering a more conventional army of his own. These soldiers patrolled around Crownen, collecting taxes, fining people who didn't carry out ordinances, raining on any parade or festival that was held without Ben's permission, shutting down inns and taverns, dragging the village wizards to prison for "talking nonsense", even murdering women who were unfaithful or unloyal to their husbands. Playing music in the streets became a punishable offense. Alcohol consumption became illegal. Women were not allowed to take most jobs and were required to give all their money to their husbands. Most fortune-tellers were fired for speculating on the king's evils. It was a time of unrest indeed.

To make matters worse, Ben became enlightened by Mornain and his followers, convinced that Mornain's miracles were the key to Crownen's success. He even welcomed Mornain's followers as allies to his army. Under this rule, and the combined army, the number of outside invasions from across the sea went to practically zero--all outsiders stained the ocean with their own blood before they could even get a chance to set foot in Crownen. King Ben convinced people that this was a definite improvement over the Star Knights, who were not numerous enough to keep out all invaders and eliminate crime. True, the crime rate in Crownen dropped as well, and all sorts of criminals were harshly punished in the new prison Ben's henchmen constructed. Crownen became a "safe place to live in", at least according to Ben and those who adored him, which was slowly becoming most folk of Crownen.

As for the many people who were outraged by King Ben's new rules, and fearful of Mornain's conquest of Crownen, what were they to do? With the Star Knights gone, Satani dead, and a king who would not listen to them, who were they to turn to? Throughout this time a few rebel groups rose up, but Ben's army and the Sakh made quick work of them before they could grow. The only thing they could do was try to keep the happiness in their villages going, and hold festivals as usual which they would shut down upon the army's arrival. Hope was dying.

...Or was it? Though Crownen was on a definite road to chaos, one place remained relatively untouched. Avalon was the one refuge from the unrest in the land, because the magical border around the island kept the Sakh and Ben's soldiers out. For years these armies tried to break through the border, but to no avail. The sad part, though, was that many of the hordes of people desperate for help were unable to enter as well, for the wise spirit who created that border knew that Avalon was not meant to hold people plagued with revenge and despair. Only those true of heart, as that spirit would say, were able to make it through the border.

Then one day, out of Avalon flew a raven named Ezra, who traveled around Crownen carrying several letters. Though Ezra was blind, she belonged to an old wizard named Sisturnia, who was her psychic sight into the world. Ezra saw right into the hearts of every individual she met, and after the trip around Crownen, she reported back to Sisturnia, informing her of the worthy recipients of the letters (that's you, the people who signed up for the RPG). Each of these letters told the recipient to meet Sisturnia in Avalon, where they would be allowed to enter. At her residence, they would discuss a plan to hopefully stop Mornain from taking complete control of Crownen...

Discussion Thread Rules

This is meant to be a place where people can ask questions about the RPG, the characters in it, and the world it is set in, without having to search through a complicated web of VM's and OOC comments. It is NOT a place for idle chat or spam. All discussions that take place here must pertain to the RPG in some way. That having been said, here are some guidelines:

- I will post any new information about the RPG (important places, NPC's, etc.) in this thread, and make an announcement whenever I make changes to that information.

- It is advisable for all members of this RPG to check the Discussion Thread often for any updates--otherwise you might miss something important.

- People who are not members of the RPG may post here, as long as they follow the rest of the rules while doing so.

- If you have a question regarding an issue that you want to keep secret, do so by PM--posting it here defeats the purpose. Otherwise, the question you may ask may prove helpful to other people as well.

What to post in this RPG
- Any questions, comments, or suggestions you might have about the RPG and any part of it (I love questions, just to let you know ^_^)
- Any extra info you may have on your character, their hometown, etc.
- Ideas for the plot and NPC's (I will keep a list of the latter)
- Please make an announcement here if you have any issues with your availability. Few things are more frustrating then seeing someone mysteriously disappear from an RPG.
- Anything else you feel is relevant to the topic

General Info about Crownen

Geography and Other Information about Crownen

First of all, let me mention that Crownen has never experienced anything like an Industrial Revolution, so that means... Well, there are no factories, no electronics (or electricity in general, save for lightning), no machines, no telephones, no lightbulbs, and no guns (except the simple things like rifles and cannons). If it didn't exist in pre-Sauron Middle Earth, it probably won't exist here.

And now for a bit of a geography lesson... If you look down on Crownen facing north, you'll see the continent looks like a bird viewed from the left side, standing upright with its wings spread above it, and laying an egg in the meantime. The different "countries" in Crownen are described in terms of the bird's anatomy:

Head--Consists of mostly flat land, and inhabited by nearly every sort of species in existence, although humans and the occasional gnome or dwarf seem to be the most populous. This place is mostly known for its marketplace, its fortunetellers, and its supposed safe haven for ne'er-do-wells... Oh, and the beak is a huge seaport, and everyone from sea dragons to pirates come to visit. Nowadays this area is the only place where outsiders can safely arrive, the folk from the mysterious lands beyond the sea. The Sakh seem to not have much influence here, but the king's soldiers have been patrolling around here more often lately, often for the purposes of ending parties and petty thefts and other forms of mayhem. That's not to say that those things don't still happen though.

Chest--The most diverse area of Crownen--basically a mixed pot where basically anyone can feel at home. Name a geographical feature of this area--the chest of Crownen has it. But this is the most dangerous area at this point, for at the "heart"--a cave in a range of rocky hills--is the lair of the Sakh. Many of those the Sakh have recruited reside in the chest, and thus it is very dangerous to live here. One has to at least pretend to worship Mornain in order to do so.

Body--Separated from the feet by the spacious Samadan Forest in the south, separated from the wing and chest by the Wolfsbane River in the northwest... okay, enough about borders. This area contains the vast Grand Plains, which are dotted with several little villages, but there are marshes and little woods here and there and... Ah, forget about it. Create anything except mountains and huge lakes here. The villages in the Grand Plains are scattered about haphazardly, making it hard for non-residents to find some of them. Some villages have so far remained untouched by evil influences; others have been Sakh outposts; others have been destroyed completely.

Wing--The wing of Crownen is known for its large, lush forests and mountains with caves and temples underneath, said to be enchanted by faeries. Even the marshes here are very beautiful. Although the wing is mainly inhabited by elves (it helps that it's cut off from the rest of Crownen by the large Sentinel Mountains to the south), the elves welcome visitors of any race--except Sakh of course. In recent years, the elves set up their own form of border patrol, questioning those who wish to enter the wing and instantly killing any Sakh who ventures near. This was done as the result of another battle that took place long ago, while the Sakh were first expanding their territory. Their numbers were still small at the time, so the inhabitants of the wing, an elf-led warrior clan, was able to finally defeat the invading Sakh. However, a couple of their border cities were destroyed in the process.

Foot--Hmm, this foot's pretty big for a bird like this. There are a few villages here and there, but this area mostly consists of the quiet, sunny Morning Star Forest in the centre, separated from the darker Samadan Forest in the north by the Nightwing Lake, residence of a clan of harpies. The Pandrean Desert in the south is a lions' paradise, the Grey Mountains extending to the northeast, well... Be creative here. Mornain's forces and even the army didn't dare to venture south of the Samadan, save for a few messenger soldiers and small groups of Sakh, so this is a relatively peaceful area, albeit not very populous.

Tail--A meadowy and hilly region which contains the royal palace, where the current King Ben resides, his army and his prisoners not too far away. But the rest of the tail contains some pleasant scenery, not to mention almost as many farms as the body of Crownen. The most populous and famous city in the tail, right behind the royal palace, is Castle Hill. This used to be a very prosperous city, but when Ben became king, he declared Castle Hill to be his new army base, evacuating the women and children and elderly to other places, and forcing the young men to join his army. He also declared a monopoly on the farms, and shut down the huge farmer's market that took place weekly near Castle Hill. Cities and towns further away from the palace still hold smaller versions of this, but they're under strict regulation by the king's army. Fortunately, though, no Sakh bother visiting the tail, so the elf population there has risen recently.

Rear--Basically the eastern coast of Crownen--I'll let you decide what's along the southern half of this coast. But just under the tail is the Holy Land, a string of churches and homes and such. Each church practices a different religion, thus this becomes a place for one to explore different faiths. Or at least it used to--each of those churches are slowly being converted to "Sakhism".

Egg--Not really part of Crownen (I certainly didn't create it), but still important. This is the one and only sacred island of Avalon, where King Arthur was said to be buried long ago. It's a peaceful place, inhabited by several wizards and priests, dotted by many small temples and other sacred spaces. The "eggshell" acts like a border around this island, keeping all those of evil intention out. I expect a very good signup from anyone whose character is from Avalon.

Outside of Crownen--There are lands beyond the sea surrounding Crownen, of course. These lands hold all sorts of races not native to Crownen, and some hold technologies Crownen knows not of. However, King Ben's army started Crownen's border control some twenty years ago, so all outsiders have to have arrived in Crownen before then, or been escorted through the seaport in the head.

The Races of Crownen

Name any creature from any fantasy, legend, myth, etc--chances are that Crownen has it. There are humans, elves, dwarves, catpeople, half-dragons (and full dragons, though they're not civilised), trolls, merpeople, werewolves, flying spaghetti monsters... just kidding on the last one. There are even a few small dinosaurs in Crownen. Here is some more detailed information on the most common races in Crownen:

Humans -- The most common race in Crownen. Known to be the most versatile as far as location, abilities, and cultures go of any race--in fact, most races in Crownen are based off of them. They're also one of the races who claims to have inhabited Crownen first, along with the Elves and the Sakh. But this is not an anime-based RPG, so no ordinary human has unnaturally coloured hair/eyes unless they're hybrids of another race.

Elves -- You would expect elves to exist in a fantasy world, right? The main elfin community in Crownen is in the wing, but some elves are scattered throughout the rest of Crownen. Now, different authors have different opinions on the characteristics of elves. In this RPG in the very least, elves are generally about the same size as or just a little smaller than humans, with lighter builds, lighter-coloured and smoother skin, and longer lifespans. Elves inhabiting Crownen typically live to be about 500 years old, and an elf is usually considered elderly by 400. An elf between 100 and 200 years old would be considered a teenager or older child. Most elves are agile yet fragile, and their culture emphasizes a strong bond with nature. Out of all the races, they have the biggest rivalry with the Sakh, probably because the Sakh consider them "tasty".

Faeries -- It seems that many people have different opinions on how big faeries are, but in this RPG, they're quite small, the size of most birds, and their wings are based off of insect wings, leaves, or even flower petals. Out of all the races of Crownen, faeries have the strongest affinity for magic, but are the least adept with weaponry. They also have a rather skittish nature, usually fleeing at the first sign of negativity. Thus very few of them would venture anywhere near the Sakh or the king's armies or even the pirates in the head of Crownen. Faeries in Crownen are mostly rather short-lived, living about thirty or so years, but they also are born fully mature, out of flowers or trees or special initiation ceremonies performed by other faeries. Though some spend all their lives on their own, many live in small families which are usually headed by a queen and/or king. They tend not to mingle with the other races, but sometimes will act as guides.

Half (insert animal name here)s -- It is true that some inhabitants of Crownen have animal characteristics, leading to things like catpeople and half-dragons (which are often characterised by their magical talents and little dragon wings on their backs) and centaurs (half-horses) and even things like "bunny people" who are covered in fur and have very rabbit-like faces and hands and tails. Then there are half-birds, also known as harpies, who have wings for arms and very bird-like feet. There are male harpies, but they look more like angels judging by their very human-like appearance with feathery wings on their backs. Merpeople also exist here, but... they have a hard time traveling on land. There are also hybrids of... well, practically any animal one can think of.

Were-creatures -- Likewise, there are people of any race who transform into various animals under certain circumstances. The most common are werewolves of course, who transform only during the full moon, and often into full wolves in Crownen. Some keep their sense of self while transformed (depending on the animal); some don't. Also, in some places people teach a discipline that lets were-creatures better control themselves during their transformation.

Lions -- In Crownen, lions are considered to be civilised creatures! It's weird that the dragons are not... The lions of Crownen look very much like the ones you're all familiar with, except they can be as big as horses, especially if they're higher up in their hierarchy. Solarius, the current King of the Lions, is a fearsome creature indeed, big as two horses and with a regal air about him that intimidates most who find themselves in his presence. Male lions often have very decorated and varicoloured manes, and even lionesses have varying earthy fur tones and like to wear jewellery and other accessories. The lions tend to be a very arrogant race, and will not accept other races into the Pandrean Desert, their main territory and location of their single kingdom. They cannot wield weapons nor are very good with magic, preferring to use their own physical strength for fighting and self-defense. They are also known to not fall ill easily and are less susceptible to poison. And yes, they are perfectly able to talk--in fact, lions often hold massive prayer sessions, from where ominous chanting in Latin could be heard. But the lions do not often speak that language regularly unless they want to exchange secret information amongst themselves.

Gnomes and dwarves -- I mention them here because people often get them confused. Gnomes are shorter and stouter (and a bit stronger) than humans are, but have roughly the same lifespan. Dwarves are the same, though less likely to be as stocky. As a result, they're sometimes called halflings as well. Out of all the races of Crownen, gnomes are the most renowned for their weaponry, and thus ore mines and smith shops are often occupied mainly by gnomes. Dwarves tend to make better farmers and handymen, and known to be the most practical and business-savvy of all the races. Both races tend to not like to live in forests or wet places. Both tend to prefer caves and mountains, and fields and cities in the case of the dwarves.

Giants and trolls -- Another pair of races that often get mixed up. Giants are simply larger versions of humans (they can be between eight and twenty feet tall), and while they famously have stocky builds much like gnomes, this is not always the case. They tend to live alone or in small groups of friends that barely know each other, and have few enemies, Sakh included. They're not very numerous in Crownen, and don't typically like to interact with other races, though they have been known to spontaneously save the lives of smaller folk who venture close to their territory. Speaking of territory, giants aren't very territorial--they only kick someone out of their location (which changes quite frequently) when someone's clearly violating their privacy. Giants are usually found wandering around mountains and forests, hardly ever out in the open. Trolls have roughly the same habitats and lifestyles, and are about the same size as giants, but they have tougher skin and are much less intelligent, to the point where they're not even considered civilized. Both are tough and good at handling large weapons like hammers and clubs (clumsily in the troll's case), but are the least agile of any of the races. Trolls are also are easily provoked into a fight and typically cannot distinguish friends from enemies.

Pipsians (PIP-shuns) -- This is a race unique to Crownen, and it was rumoured to be the race that led to the belief that witches fly on broomsticks. Pipsians always have some sort of large item that they can fly on, whether it is a broomstick, a staff, a giant spoon... One even flew on a big, slender oil lamp. They tend to be about the same size as elves, but are a very diverse race appearance wise--they range from looking very human-like to more like animal hybrids. Pipsians are known for appearing young even when they're old (they have about the same lifespan as humans do), and for being light and delicate much like elves are. But they don't have the pointy ears characteristic of elves, for one thing, and they vary more in figure and skin colour. Pipsians hardly ever use weapons save for the occasional knife, but are usually very good with making a quick getaway and in some cases, illusion magic. Many are spellcasters as well, though they differ from human wizards and sorcerers in that they very, very rarely have incantations for them--they are less powerful but can be cast instantly. They're also the least likely race to have their magic concentrated in one element.

Dragons -- There are several different kinds of dragons in Crownen, pretty much every kind imaginable. There are wyverns, which tend to be smaller and lack hind legs. There are sea dragons which resemble magnificent serpents. There's even a kind of dragon unique to Crownen called the draclyn--these are about the size of a snake and have two large flippers on their sides. They are abundant on the eastern coast and make popular pets. But dragons of all shapes and sizes lurk around Crownen, all over the place. Now, although it is true that dragons are just as intelligent as the civilised folk of Crownen, they have their own wild nature, and cannot speak any of their languages.

Vampires -- In Crownen, vampires are simply dead bodies of any race who retain just a bit of their essence, thus becoming a deadly killer with little or no self-control. There have been some stories of vampires who manage to get along well with other people and live civilized lives, but that is very rare. The Sakh have at times employed some as assassins--they tend to be easy to manipulate. Also, there are three kinds of vampires. One is the typical blood-sucking vampire, which may or may not have fangs--and some have scythe-like claws as well. Then there's the sexual vampire, also known as an incubus or succubus, who obtains energy through sexual intercourse. And lastly there's the psychic vampire, who drains energy from one's aura. Despite popular myth, vampires don't burn when exposed to sunlight, and crosses and garlic don't affect them (though garlic can be used to keep general evil presences away).

Sakh -- These are the bad guys. As briefly mentioned in the plot, the Sakh look human-like for the most part, but their hair and eyes can be of any color on the visible spectrum, and is often puffy or spiky in appearance. Their eyes look very reptilian, with slits instead of round pupils. They also have two horns on their heads which are often short and/or decorated with personal ornaments. Some of them have fangs as well, and many have dragon wings of various small sizes. They also have clawed feet and arrow-tipped tails, making them look very devil-like. And strangely enough, the Sakh seem to be an all-male race; no female Sakh has ever been seen. Like humans, the Sakh have a variety of abilities and occupations, but they have a strong sense of community and working for the greater collective good. Not to mention they all worship Mornain like a god. And this is the only race which is completely absent in Avalon.

Nature: Enigmatic and wise, due to being almost as old as Crownen itself. Tends to overestimate opponents, and can be unreliable at times.
Home: Avalon
Position: Has already found peace, and is concerned about losing that peace. She's watched certain races of Crownen evolve over the years.
Fighting Style: Crystal magic. Also has three forms: a human(ish) form, a crystalline Primordial form, and a Chaotic Form which is only revealed at death.

Bronson
Creator: Grassmaster411
Race: Elephant
Gender: Male
Nature: Headstrong and arrogant and snappy at times. Though not very social, he is tolerant of practically everything. Oh, and don't you dare try to ride him.
Home: Doesn't really have one; his herd is originally from the Pandrean Desert
Position: Wants a purpose in life and a place to live; he could very well be the last elephant in Crownen
Fighting Style: Earth magic and brute force
*Has a flock of birds living on his back much of the time.

Rosa Megami
Creator: Manaphy Mare
Race: Lilyara
Gender: Female
Nature: Cold and calculating with a businesslike demeanour. Prefers to think things through and tends to be blunt.
Home: A Yokai settlement (where?)
Position: Doesn't seem to have any special goal, but is eager to help out with Sisturnia's quest
Fighting Style: Ninjutsu combined with her dancing talents as a Lilyara

Important NPC's

Maia
The Goddess of Light. She was the one who guided Satani towards the Sword of Destiny, hoping to fulfill her wishes for peace and hope and other wonderful things in the world. Though she is losing her eternity-long feud with her sister Katami, she is still standing strong, though solemn. Rumour has it that Maia helped the recipients of Sisturnia's letters reach Avalon more easily. Ah, the gods choose to intervene at the most seemingly random of times.
<Quote from the first post> The Goddess of Light said nothing. She kept her gaze on the horizon, her fiery red eyes threatening to sear through any dark qualities. Her curly auburn hair was rather dull in comparison, but still fit the bright motif, as did the flowy yellow gown she wore. She had the pointy ears characteristic of an elf, her hands resembled the paws of a lion, and extending from her back were the wings of a golden eagle, wide and strong yet soft and feathery. A golden pendant resembling a sword in shape hung from around her neck, a ruby at its centre. No shadows appeared around her--it was as if her very bold essence illuminated everything around her.

Katami
The Goddess of Darkness. She was the one who guided Mornain towards the Sword of Destiny, hoping to fulfill her lust for demise and chaos and other ill fortune in the world. She is currently winning her eternity-long feud with her sister Maia, proudly showing off her precious Sakh puppet to all of Crownen. Rumours about this controlling influence Katami has over Mornain are circulating among those who understand how magic truly works.
<Quote from the first post> After a moment of contemplation, the dark one grinned. There was a flicker in her green eyes, whose gaze seemed hypnotic, as if to tempt and possess all those who stared into them. Her skin was of a lavender hue, her hair shorter and the darkest possible black. She had a skinny yet curvy figure, her attire just the opposite of Maia's light and flowy style. She was dressed scantily in shiny black leather, with large black spikes on her shoulder pads and on the sides of her hips. On her back were wings that looked like they belonged to a dragon who had suffered severe burns in battle, so that all the flesh was seared away. There were miniature ones on the sides of her boots as well.

Mornain
The main antagonist of this RPG. He is the leader of the Sakh, who look up to him like a god. Among the Sakh, there are tall tales of him performing wondrous miracles, like healing dying Sakh, changing the weather, and making weapons out of diamond. Yet who knows whether these are true. Mornain has a charateristic "Forbidding Finger", an abnormally long middle finger on his left hand, this being his trademark. Rumour has it that he may have some sort of controlling influence over King Ben, which would make sense given he is a very powerful sorcerer. He has become even more powerful after seizing the Sword of Destiny, and will make a formidable evil overlord indeed.

King Ben and his Army
(Created by Kiruria; Ben is non-controllable but individual soldiers can be controlled by anyone)
Benjamin Alastor (commonly known as King Ben) is the king of Crownen, who replaced Satani after her death. He's a fat and grumpy man in his mid-forties, cold and with a business-oriented mind. He's a strong believer in order and unity (a fascist if you will), placing all sorts of strict ordinances and intent on punishing all those who refuse to follow them. His army was built for the purposes of reinforcing that order, and for keeping invaders from beyond the sea out. One can easily distinguish his soldiers from normal folk: they are clad in shining steel armour, with unique plates on their shoulders bearing the Alastor family crest. That crest consists of an armoured fist holding a scepter. Each soldier also wears a helmet (which looks like a knight's but without the mouthpiece) with bright red trim, and a suit of chain mail for flexibility purposes, and over that a yellow sash also bearing the crest. The King is adamant about his soldiers wearing this uniform rather than whatever they're used to wearing.

Sisturnia
(Created by Kiruria; both she and Ezra are only controllable through the normal bunnying rules)
An old wizard who lives in Avalon. She's human otherwise, but is 121 years old, as being a wizard allows one to have a slightly longer lifespan. The elegant purple robes she wears and the tidy appearance of her long silver hair remind one of a queen who has recently retired the throne--in fact, one who sees her might initially think she's Satani's ghost. And no wizard is without a staff--Sisturnia's is as tall as she is, made of a thick oak branch and with a crystal ball on top that always has an ethereal blue mist hovering around inside it. She used to live in a wooden house built in and around an oak tree, but that house has recently burned down. And most interestingly, she used to be one of the Star Knights, and had been Satani's friend long before she became queen.
Sisturnia's familiar is a raven named Ezra, whose shiny black eyes are actually glass inserts, for she is blind. However, she can sense the world around her through a type of clairvoyance provided through a telepathic connection to Sisturnia.
**Note: Yes, it's perfectly possible to have a female wizard, as well as a male witch. Wizards and witches differ in the kind of magic they use--wizards use the more powerful elemental spells and perform ceremonial magic, while witches specialise more in practical spellwork and charms and draw their power mainly from nature. A sorcerer is a user of black magic.

Mitsuha Kitaishi, a.k.a. Minerva Skye
One of the surviving Star Knights. She is a member of the Kitaishi Ninja Clan, and was both a wise counselor and a formidable fighter. However, after the Battle of Starfall, she was forced into hiding, taking on a secret identity as a warrior queen named Minerva Skye. Minerva Skye made tentative plans to set up a rebel force, but could not do so with King Ben's close watch upon her. Instead, after Sisturnia died, she snuck into the Holy Land, disguised as a peasant, seeking out the recipients of Sisturnia's letters for help. Having a strong background in ninjutsu, her fighting style is very direct and efficient, utilising hidden practical weapons and physical skills. She doesn't seem to know any magic though.

Orion the Fair
Another of the surviving Star Knights. He is a giant, a bold and charismatic yet laid-back sort of giant. He was excellent with battle tactics and proved to be a good leader when Satani wasn't around. Yet strangely, he was somehow able to hide his identity after the Battle of Starfall, just as Mitsuha had done.

General Armstrong
(Created by Grassmaster411)
A headstrong, arrogant, and self proclaimed egomaniac, Armstrong was, for many years, a highly respected and feared general. He was even being considered for the position of commander. He had been the leading force against all rebel attempts, even going as far as to try and enlist the vampire race (this had mixed results). This all changed the day his force of 50 armed men arrived at the foot of Crownen for a massive slave capture/relocation program. Details are sketchy, but Armstrong proclaims that a talking, stealthy, and intelligent elephant took out his entire force. Few of the soldiers could be found to speak about it, and the few known refuse to speak. Frankly, everyone thought Armstrong was drunk when he told them this. He was immediately demoted, and went into retirement afterwards. Some claim he is still searching for the elephant that ruined his life.

Ragontal
(Created by Grassmaster411)
Ragontal is unlike most middle-aged Sakh. Most want to conquer the world, but all he wants is money. He will do anything for a quick buck. He will sell anything or anyone to anything or anyone. He would even sell his own mother for a grape (if that grape was worth the 50 pounds of gold he paid for her that is). He looks like most Sakh, but is usually carrying lots of cash. He uses the army to travel across Crownen, dealing, scamming, trading, and conning. He met Bronson trading fruit, and for the first time, was cheated out of the food. He has a bit of a grudge against him, but is still willing to give him information about the Sakh and King Ben's army for gold.

The Scarlet Slayer or Blood Lightning
(Created by AzerWrath)
Legend tells tales of a dashing man in teal-blue armor (contrary to his title), leading the front lines many, many years ago when the Sakh first arrived. This very old dragoon triumphed, slaughtering countless foes and the evil demonic magics that they let loose upon the world. What gave him that title was Gungnir, the legendary spear. Some tales say that he got it in a dungeon near the center of Crownen. Some tell long stories of how he fought with the gods themselves to get a hold of the spear. Some called him the Savior of the World. Some called him the Destroyer. But other than that, not much is known about his past.

Lysha
(Created by Neo Pikachu)
Lysha... is a troublemaker. And a fugitive. Recently, she got thrown in prison for killing several important people in King Ben's army, as well as setting fire to villages and such. And she looks like a bad-*** fugitive too. A black dragoon with fierce red eyes, she is definitely no pushover. As it so happens, she shared a cell with Kaxo, who eventually helped her and a bunch of other captives escape from the prison.
Neo Pikachu said:
My cellmate, as I figured, was a female half black dragon. She had long, raven-colored hair flowing past her two large black draconic ears with crimson, leathery webbing that looked a bit like dragon wings. Meanwhile, she had a black face and red eyes that seemed to pierce right into your soul. Her body was covered with black dragon scales, making it look like it was covered with natural armor. She had clawed hands and two dragon feet with sharp talons that could gut someone like a fish in no time. Meanwhile, she had two massive dragon wings coming out of her back, black on the back, but crimson red when you faced her. She also had a scaly dragon tail with four razor-sharp barbs at the end that could probably rip someone's face off. Overall, she was pretty badass. She also wore a strange, metal amulet with a triple triangle symbol on it.

Pucker
A young Pipsian girl. She is very small and looks almost elf-like with the pointed ears she has. Many people mistake her for a witch due to her pointed hat and the fact that she flies around on a broom. Or at least she used to; her broom has gone missing. Instead she flies on Sisturnia's staff, oddly enough. Though she looks young, she seems to know a lot about Crownen and the good people still left in it. Except for those in Avalon, of course. Oh, and her name, which definitely falls into the stereotype of quirky Pipsian names, comes from her love of lemon drops (and lollipops, apparently).

Parnaisha
A high-ranking Sakh, so high-ranking that he could very well be Mornain's right-hand man. He operates from the Sakh's lair at the heart of Crownen, but specialises in sending out imps as spies, who he apparently communicates with via a telepathic link. With the purple robe he wears and the crystal-ball-like thing he carries around, one can wonder what other kinds of psychic powers he might have... At any rate, it doesn't seem like he has any intention of rushing into battle, though a lot of the other Sakh seem to know about him.

Plot Summary

Signed up late? Went for a long break from the RPG? If you're feeling lost about what's happening with the plot so far, this is the place to look! Every once in a while I will update this.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After Ezra delivered the letters, the recipients began to make their way to Sisturnia's residence in Avalon. Once they got there, Sisturnia greeted every one of them with a bow. After several of the recipients had arrived, Sisturnia told them all the story of the Sword of Destiny, illustrating the scenes inside her crystal ball. Afterward, she asked the group to introduce themselves and present their opinions on the situation.
It seems the agenda right now is to go after King Ben first, and maybe get him and Mornain to turn against each other. Everyone seemed to agree on how vile the two's antics have been... But anyway, after (almost) everyone spoke up, Sisturnia told everyone about the three surviving Star Knights, which turned out to be Mitsuha, Orion, and herself. As soon as she proclaimed herself a Star Knight, the entire house burst into flame. Fortunately for the recipients, Sisturnia was able to cast a protection spell to prevent them from being burned--at least for a little while.
But things kept getting worse. Seven Sakh in a rainbow of cloak colours surrounded Avalon. They discovered a loophole in the border: though they themselves could not get through, their spells could. So they cast a bunch of spells on Avalon, causing a highly fierce and unusual-looking storm to ravage the island. One of the Sakh was a necromancer, and had turned the dead Sisturnia into a zombie.
By this time it was clear that everyone had to leave Avalon ASAP. In the midst of this, a young Pipsian girl named Pucker arrived on the scene, deciding to keep Sisturnia's staff for herself to fly on. The group's next plan of action after leaving Avalon was to head to the lair of Minerva Skye, the retired warrior queen. But they couldn't head there just yet. Shortly after they crossed into the Holy Land and informed the villagers what was going on, a sea dragon under control of the Sakh noticed their presence. It and two other dragons started attacking the villages.
A small fight broke out, mostly aided by five wolves inadvertently called upon by Bronson. But who also helped out was none other than Minerva Skye! There was no need to visit her lair after all! She had come looking for the recipients of Sisturnia's letters after hearing about the wizard's fiery death. In a hushed voice, she revealed her secret identity: Mitsuha Kitaishi, one of the remaining Star Knights! And not only did she appear: she had a plan to infiltrate King Ben's castle and maybe even kill him or take over his armies. She invited people to go back to their homelands to gather support as well, for she's planning a huge war on the heart of Crownen... Oh, and Pucker and Sisturnia's staff both returned to their respective homes at this point.
While all of the above was going on, Kaxo (one of the Lilyara recipients) had been captured by one of the Sakh mages and taken to prison. Currently he is trying to lead a rebellion, and has been freeing other prisoners and trying to give them hope in this dismal world. Unfortunately, a certain imp held in Dakkam Prison was a spy for the Sakh, so now Mornain knows all about this new rebellion force. Oddly enough, he's not doing much to try and stop it just yet...
Handy?
It's that one guy
How many posts is too many before we arrive at Avalon? I was hoping to get three in, but I can probably condense Boris' journey into two if necessary.
Also, an apology in advanced for my lack of Roleplaying skill; haven't done this for a long time.
I'm working on my post, but I'm trying to figure out based on the description of the land as to where the heck is the egg at. From the looks of it, I'm guessing that the egg is past the tail and I think I can travel without going to the rear section. I don't know,perhaps a little enlightment might help a bit. Is the egg below the rear or tail section because I don't want to write something weird since I probably will be the closest to it after I post the first post, granted flying conditions are good for most of the way.
Added at 4pm EST
Bleh, I may or may not be able to post today, weather tells me we're going to get a nasty storm. Hopefully it will pass and I won't lose power (I hate being warm.)
Added at 4:50pm EST
Meh, I'm over reacting, the storm has moved on so I probably will be able to finish up the post, granted my question is addressed soon :D
I need to know what would alcohol be referred to as in the RPG? It would be easy to keep it simple. I don't know what you would call alcoholic beverages back then. :p
@handymankg2: It doesn't really matter how slow you want to make the journey. If your character doesn't make it by the end of the day after people receive the letters, Sisturnia will see to it that they get transported here safely. Such is one of her abilities, as long as she doesn't use it too often (it has low PP, to make a Pokemon reference).
The tail curves backward a bit, so some of the southern shoreline would be a short boat trip away from Avalon. Worthy ones may enter through the border from any direction--the bridge to the Holy Land is just the most convenient way in, and the only way to access Avalon by foot.
The same ones that you would call alcoholic beverages today. The fancy cocktails that exist today probably won't exist back then, but everything else should be pretty much the same.
Sorry to make you wait until the following day to post... but I'm not going to make my next post until sometime late tomorrow, and not until everyone who is currently accepted (not Copygoo or Manaphy Mare, who have yet to be accepted) posts first. And since I'm on Pacific time, I hit a certain clock time later than most other people do.
I loled at this.
But before Alvara could get a very long look at them, a powerful gust of wind blew brom behind and slightly below her, pushing her forward. Several more gusts just like this followed--it seemed as if the winds were literally in her favour. What's more, up ahead the clouds started to part, and there were no signs of rain anywhere.
Thought you would know that high elevations would = snow in the fairly cold weather. But since you're portraying it also that it's overhead in the Holy Land, it would make sense for it to be rain.
I also was planning on being slowed down by snow just to make it more reasonable with unpredictable weather, maybe.
I am not used to writing lengthy posts in the thousands where I consider it like I'm writing some chapter for a fan-fic. I'm just uncomfortable with writing wrong posts, normally just 400-600 usually pending what I have to work with.
I don't know if I will have her there at Avalon in the next post. I'm pretty sure it will be mostly consisting of the observations from a birds eye view and the pipsians and unusual gusts.
I was half tempted to ask if anyone in the Foot region wanted to travel with me to Avalon, but that would be to hazardous in terms of getting there in a timely manner.
I'll start working on my post later tonight, still have school to deal with before I can work without distractions.
@Slipomatic: Your posts can be as long or as short as you want them to be, as long as they're not one paragraph or a lawyer's brief (~10000 words, which would be too long).
Ah, I apologise... I wanted to have it where Sisturnia kind of made everyone's journeys easier, but I suppose there is room for things to go wrong. Remember Mornain also has the ability to influence the weather (which would trump anything Sisturnia can do), so if you really want it to snow, you can have the clouds suddenly come into the gap and have the snow fall.
Who knows, maybe Mornain wanted it to snow on a party the Pipsians were having. Sounds like something he would do.
Announcement to All: In my second post I had Sisturnia work some magic that would help all the characters reach Avalon faster. However, this magic seems to affect different characters in different ways, and work quicker with different characters. My goal in this is to have everyone arrive in Avalon with not that much time difference between them. In a couple of days I will make another post with Sisturnia's assisting magic (and maybe continue Satsuma's journey), but after that I want everyone to start arriving in Avalon. If need be, once I get to the meeting with Sisturnia, I'll just assume everyone has arrived, even those who haven't reached Avalon yet in their posts.
Also, as a forewarning, I'll most likely be unable to post between 30 August and 4 September, due to a vacation which will most likely involve lack of internet access. When that time comes near, I will make another announcement regarding what is to be done with the RPG in the time that I am gone. (And the meeting with Sisturnia will definitely happen before then.)
EDIT: I just found I'll be staying in a hotel during that trip, so hopefully I will have Internet access after all. Whether I'll have time to post in the RPG is another issue, but I will make this RPG a priority for me on these forums during that time.
I know this part of the RPG might or might not be boring, but I promise, things should definitely get more interesting once we reach the meeting with Sisturnia. I just want to wait for people to finish their signups so that nobody misses out. Fortunately, we're only waiting on two character signups (which are currently Pending), and I know Manaphy Mare's character will most likely not have to travel too far to reach Avalon, so this hopefully shouldn't take too long.
Bleh, school is probably driving a few to hiatus.
And now I put myself in a bind of waiting for either Merci/Silva and Amber to come by or Sonora and Crescendo to come. I am to assume that once in Avalon, we meet up at the said area and then wait on Sisturnia?
@handymankg2: Whoops, I posted the meeting with Sisturnia before even looking at this thread... Well, I guess you can do your post in two parts then, one where Boris finishes his journey, and one with Sisturnia greeting him after the story.
@Slipomatic: Same issue... You can work that out however you like in your next post. The posts don't necessarily have to follow chronological order, so people can still post things about before meeting Sisturnia at this point.
@Everyone: Sorry about the timeskip--I just wanted to kind of bring everyone to the same level in this RPG without waiting for everyone. Don't worry, things won't be strictly structured like this for long...
Also, just for fun, I now include some mysteries regarding the legend behind the Sword of Destiny to wonder about throughout our journey, for summarisation purposes. I also included Sisturnia's response to these (which are just guesses):
1. Where did Maia and Katami originate?
Sisturnia: The balance of Darkness and Light that came about at the Fall Equinox gave rise to them.
2. How was the Sword of Destiny made?
Sisturnia: It was forged by the Celtic goddess Brigid, who was a swordsmith.
3. What caused the Coronary Mountains to become the Black Mountains?
Sisturnia: They suddenly became foreboding. (How?)
4. What happened to the female Sakh, if any?
Sisturnia: No opinion
I'm going to wait for shadowfaith to post. I also don't like timeskipping so I'll end up behind if timeskipping happens again anytime soon.
Kiruria
La Melancolie Noir
@Slipomatic: Don't worry, there won't be any more time-skipping in the near future. In fact, right now I don't see a reason to do it again given what I see of the plot so far.
Well anyway, first I'd like to say that the two of you who did post your introduction so far did a good job with Sisturnia. I could detect the bit of mystery in Sisturnia's words at the end when she stated her "prophecies".
And yeah, I actually apologise to everyone about the time-skipping. To quote Handy, I haven't done this in a while--specifically, I haven't been a GM in a couple of years. As a result there are things I have yet to learn...
So now, I'd like to discuss what our characters will be doing after the meeting with Sisturnia. Specifically, I'd like your opinions on how to travel and such. So would you guys prefer traveling in one large group, in a few small groups, or just individually?
Also, before I forget, here's some more info on Thesius and Selene (Manaphy Mare's NPC's):
Name: Thesius
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Race: Minotaur, with some elfin characteristics
Appearance: Thesius stands a tiny bit taller than most Minotaur or sirens his age. His head is, obviously, quite bovine in nature; however his horns are much smaller than those of most other Minotaur his age. His ears, however, are elfin in appearance. His head is covered in snowy white hair that he typically pulls back into a full topknot. The hair on his face, however, is kept rather short, especially around his eyes. Unlike most Minotaur, Thesius has very little hair below his neck. In addition his skin is quite pale, almost comparable to the moon. Thesius has a rather frail build when compared to most Minotaur; his build is like a slightly athletic human- not quite muscular, but not scrawny either.
It would only take one glance to notice that Thesius is not from this era. He wears a skin-tight, silvery tee shirt. Over his top is a sleeveless, white hoodie with a silver pattern that is reminiscent of a circuit board. His pants are a little loose in the leg and match his top quite well. Across his face is a mirrored visor that resembles a pair of goggles. On his right forearm is a silvery sweatband. The only jewelry he has is an earring in his left ear; it is a titanium, clamp-like bar along the cartilage. His typical footwear is a pair of white, slip-on running shoes with silver accents.
Personality: At first glance Thesius seems like your stereotypical genius. He’s sarcastic and condescending to those he doesn’t know. Deep down, however, he is really a sweet guy who always gives his friends a shoulder to cry on. He’s not shy, but he certainly is quiet. Theseus tends to be quite analytical, and can even think too much about a problem.
Although Thesius is unusually serious for his age, that doesn’t mean that he is not prone to freaking out. He actually is easily scared or surprised when confronted with a threat or dangerous situation that doesn’t allow him enough time to come up with a solution. If anyone fortunate enough to be counted among Thesius’s friends is threatened in any way things rarely get pretty. Thesius is fiercely protective of his friends and will even forego his own safety to protect those he actually cares about.
History: Thesius grew up in an era in Crownen’s distant future. His childhood was fairly typical by Crownen standards. When he was fourteen he decided that the best way for him to learn about “ancient” Crownen was to experience it first hand Thesius and his best friend’s girlfriend both exited earlier than his best friend, causing the two of them to land in Avalon. Thesius has spent the past few hours roaming the island before he saw what seemed to be a slightly older version of his friend fly overhead, after following the general direction he came across a house that rested beneath a large tree.
Equipment: The most notable piece of equipment Thesius has would have to be his handheld computer. It is connected to his visor and is the only way he can cast his spells.
Abilities: Thesius is an extremely defensively-oriented technocaster. In addition he is also a certifiable genius.
Thesius’s spells are as follows:
Binary Barrier - A medium-level spell; Thesius casts a barrier that is formed from several, neon-green 1’s and 0’s
Firewall - Thesius’ most powerful spell; he casts a near-impenetrable wall of orange and red 1’s and 0’s
Data Crunch - A medium-level spell. Thesius casts a stream of neon-blue 1’s and 0’s that wrap around a target; it is an effective bind on most targets.
Name: Selene
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Race: ???
Appearance: Selene is quite tall for her age, standing just a few inches shy of the six-foot mark. Her build is slender, but not quite model-like; she has a few curves, but nothing too pronounced. Her golden blond hair is primarily shoulder length, but she also has a knee length ponytail that seems to resemble Yuna’s from Final Fantasy X-2. Her eyes are not one single color; rather the irises seem to be a color wheel and show the entire spectrum at once. Her wings are kind of a medium size (bigger than a dragoon's but smaller than an angel's) and have white feathers with pink tips.
In terms of wardrobe Selene tends to wear a white corset with soft-pink laces that exposes her shoulders; attached at the top of the corset’s front is a pink hood with a pair of cat-like ears. She tends to wear a pair of soft-pink booty shorts with a pink ½ skirt that covers her left leg down to just below her knee and shifts to white at the bottom. Cinched around her waist is a white belt with a pink, holster-like pouch where she stores her ofuda. She wears a pair of pink boots styled similarly to Sailor Saturn’s boots, but the heels of her boots are lower than those of the senshi of destruction and Selene’s boots are designed for hiking.
Personality: Selene is a perky girl with a sunny disposition. Her pure heart tends to be very simplistic. Don’t let her tendency to be air-headed fool you, she is actually quite intelligent and can hold her own in a fight. She is very quick to befriend others and when her friendship with someone becomes mutual, their bond will become stronger than steel. She will go to almost any length to help her friends out. She is generally an independent young woman with a near-unshakable will. She does have a few fears, namely the dark, fire, and thunder. Another noteworthy trait of hers is her fearsome temper; it is a difficult thing to spark, but may the Lord pity any who manage to truly anger her. At first glance she may seem like a complete ditz, but she is actually quite intelligent. Selene is well known for her determination, once she sets her mind on a goal she will do everything she can to achieve it.
History: Selene grew up in an era in Crownen’s distant future. Her childhood was fairly typical by Crownen standards. She went to school, spent time with friends, and went on the occasional adventure. When she was fifteen he decided that the best way for him to learn about “ancient” Crownen was to experience it first hand Selene and her boyfriend’s best friend both exited earlier than her boyfriend, causing the two of them to land in Avalon. Selene has spent the past few hours roaming the temple before she saw what seemed to be sheet music and a CD lying on the floor. After she had finished investigating she departed the temple and wandered around Avalon. She found herself at the front door of a nearby house that seemed to be at the end of a path of rose bushes.
Equipment: Selene’s equipment consists of her rod she uses for her spellcasting as well as a journal-like book that hold all of her spells. She also has the sheet music for Real Emotion and a CD she assumes is the boosting accompaniment track. She also has a pouch on her belt that holds her ofuda. The ofuda she currently has and their quantities are:
Repair (1)
Speed-up (9)
Strengthen (10)
Buff (5)
Cure (5)
Abilities: Selene is a gifted healer and spellcaster. Despite being a spellcaster, she only has a mastery of support-type spells and can only boost others capabilities. She has very little skills outside of white magic and uses ofuda rather than actually chanting the spell; however she will actively heal others. She is also quite adept at hand-to-hand combat.
LET'S DO THE TIME WARP AGAIN!
...Well, maybe not again. Yes, this is the first post in a year. Looks like discussion threads are exceptions to the thread-bumping rules.
Anyway, I have restarted the RPG, so hopefully it will do better than it did before. I am still in the process of adding in the characters that weren't there in the first version, but I didn't have to change too much otherwise (Slipomatic, Manaphy Mare, and TheSequelReturns can attest to that). To everyone else, this is the place to discuss questions and such, but not for idle chat. You may also post ideas here. Want to introduce an important NPC? Have an idea for the plot? Feel free to share it.
And yes, I promise there will be more action after this meeting with Sisturnia. I'm not providing any spoilers about what will happen afterward though. *smirk*
I would like to introduce 3 NPC's later in the story. One is a general in King Bens army, the next is a sakh, and the last is an ogre. Do I have to post a sign up or something?
(By the way, I lol'd at "and dont you dare try and ride him")
Yay, someone posted in the Discussion Thread! I'm so happy...
Er-hem. NPC's, eh? I can only wonder what they will be like! Here is some info that might be important for the ones you had in mind:
For the army general: Like a typical army, King Ben's army has a few generals, usually assigned to a certain area or task force and in command of a handful of squadrons (correct me if I'm wrong on this, for I'm not too familiar with military stuff). There is one "supreme general" who oversees all the generals; he is simply known as the Commander (no one knows his real name). The Commander is usually in charge of planning overall strategies and acts as second-in-command to King Ben himself.
For the Sakh: Your Sakh NPC better be male, of course. I think it will be interesting to have a Sakh wandering around in this RPG, and he can be one of the enemies our characters can look out for, perhaps.
For the ogre: I really have nothing to say here. Just don't make another Shrek if you can avoid it.
For the NPC's, you don't have to make a complete signup for them. Just provide general info on their background and personality, and maybe some important characteristics of their appearance. You can format it in the same way that I have done in my NPC list (which I'll be adding your NPC's to anyway) if you like.
However, if there's anything about those NPC's that you would like to keep hidden from the others, be sure to either keep that to yourself or PM it to me.
Oh yeah, and this same principle applies to anyone else who wishes to make a NPC.
Speaking of NPC's, I'll be updating the NPC list soon with a few other NPC's of mine. Ezra will need her own entry at some point, for example. I'll post info on Mitsuha and Orion (the other two remaining Star Knights) as well, because they will most certainly become important later on.
Ok, here we go.
General Armstrong:
Age/gender: 48/male
A headstrong, arrogant, and self proclaimed egomaniac, Armstrong was, for many years, a highly respected and feared general. He was even being considered for the position of commander. He had been the leading force against all rebel attemps, even going as far as to try and enlist the vampire race (this had mixed results). This all changed the day his force of 50 armed men arrived at the foot of crownen for a massive slave capture/relocation program. Details are sketchy, but Armstrong proclaims that a talking, stealthy, and intelligent elephant took out his entire force. Few of the soilders could be found to speak about it, and the few known refuse to speak. There is suggestion of alcohal at the time. General Armstrong was imediately demoted, and went into retirement afterwards. Some claim he is still searching for the elephant that ruined his life.
Rahd:
Age/gender: 32/male
Rangontal is unlike most sakh. Most want to concur the world. He is just in it for the money. He will do anything for a quick buck. He will sell anything or anyone to anything or anyone. He would sell his own mother for a grape (but he got her for 50 pounds of gold). He looks lik most sahk, but is usually carriing lots of cash. He uses the army to travel across crownen, dealing, scamming, trading, and conning. He met Bronson trading fruit, and for the first time, was cheated out of the food. He has a bit of a grudge against him, but often gives Bronson information about The sakh and King Ben's army for gold. (which Bronson finds quiet a bit of).
(I'm either going to post the ogre later, or not at all.)
Mmm~
SO YOU CAN MAKE NPC'S ERH? I SHALL MAKE ONE. He won't be key to the plot or anything, but maybe to that little, innocent Dragoon's life.
He shall wield Gungnir.
@Grassmaster411: Mmmmm, good ideas you have there! Maybe you can do a little intro post for them sometime soon--it doesn't have to be in conjunction with the plot. The only thing I'm confused about is the Sakh's name. Is it Rahd or Ragontal? I'm gonna assume it's the latter for now, but please correct me if I'm wrong.
Haha, I have the feeling Ragontal will prove very useful to not only Bronson, but the rest of the group as well... After all, all of them are potential customers. ;)
AzerWrath: Ooh, I can't wait for your NPC idea! Nor your next post!
Ah, speaking of next post... I'm gonna do my next post sometime before Friday, so anyone else who wants to react to the fire better do so before then...
EDIT: I have updated the NPC list with Mitsuha and Orion as promised, and Grassmaster's NPC's as well. I also updated Sisturnia's info with what we learned about her from my last post, and the plot summary as well.
To everyone who has not posted in the RPG at all yet: Ryodragonite and Floorman, I'm talking about you two. I do hate to say this, but if you have not posted by the time we leave Avalon, I'll have to drop you two out of the RPG. Few things are more annoying to GM's than people who sign up for an RPG and don't do anything in it. (Of course, both of you can feel free to contact me later on and I can put you back in. I'm easily forgiving.)
~~3 November Edit~~
Silly me, I forgot to add Maia, Katami, and Mornain to the NPC list. I just fixed that problem, thankfully. And as far as the RPG is concerned, chapter 1 is finally done! The action finally begins with Chapter 2.
