I noticed that Serena seemed to react when Glaceon was brought up, and Eevee reacted when she talked about Jolteon.

I really wonder what the future for this little Eevee is going to be like.

Hm I think Sylveon is most likely but I wouldn't mind it if she got one of the other ones either.

As I expected, the battle had no conclusion and wow @ Ash using Pikachu: I only joked about him using Pikachu before, but I didn't expect this to be the case. At least Shauna kind of impressed me with Ivysaur. She was the saving grace for me.

Okay, the joke was funny for the first time but Serena has not even finished a single battle (other than being carried by Ash and Clemont in the camp) and it's already been like 90 episodes. Battling may not be her goal but it's getting really annoying that she ends up in tons of battles that don't get resolved.

Never mind Bulbapedia said that Serena and Shana beat the boys

No they didn't. They never finished the battle and the guys had more experience. Eevee is a newly captured pokemon with less experience and would have be defeated by Pikachu or Blastoise with ease. Ivysaur may have the type advantage but it wouldn't be able to take on both Blastoise and Pikachu. It was probably wise for Serena to end the battle because Eevee needed more experience before taking on an experienced Pikachu or a fully evolved Blastoise. Bulbapedia can have certain details wrong, so it shouldn't be rely on all the time.

Chespin was the only good part of this entire episode food poisoning at all.

I liked how clemont is slowly realizing how important it is for his GOATmon to get his screentime.

Keep it up.

Battle was meh.

I agree even though it isnt part of her goal it would be nice if she could win a battle by herself that isnt team rocket

I've seen lots of people complaining about the battle, which surprises me, because it was the best part of the episode in my opinion. Not only did we get to see that Blastoise is still crazy acrobatic after evolving, but it had a dance battle against Eevee! Now that's some smart thinking on the writers' part - establishing Eevee's dancing skill for Showcases by pitting it against an already-established character who excels at dancing (and in battle no less). I do feel a bit bad for Blastoise, though. While it's nice that it's learned new dancing tricks (like Tierno handstanding on Rapid Spin), I'm guessing it couldn't match Eevee's sheer nimbleness anymore due to its size. Really looking forward to a longer battle between Ash and Tierno (hopefully we'll get a proper one BEFORE the League as well), because it's awesome watching that Dance Battling. The fact they actually went the extra mile and included the rhythm strategy as part of Tierno's battles shows just how much dedication they have to the animation this time around, and the dynamic battles resulting from the strategy are among the most entertaining to watch.

Tierno's mention of losing at the Hyakokku Gym was also a good set-up. Was some decent characterization for Ash as well, considering he eventually withdrew his request for more info after Tierno starting talking, since he wanted the battle to be a surprise. While the Gym Leaders have virtually no story involvement compared to Generation V (which, as everyone knows, was a total missed opportunity on the writers' part), it's nice to see they're giving each Gym Leader at least one episode ahead of their Gym Battle for some characterization, and in this case, providing foreshadowing. Olympia's currently set up to be a much more imposing threat than she ever seemed to be in the games. Looking forward to how Ash'll overcome her Double Battle tactics. (Perhaps Thunder Armor? :p I still remember that episode very vividly - it's ironic that the BREAK series in the TCG makes Pokemon look like they're all wearing Thunder Armor now. So maybe Frogadier and Talonflame BREAK? >_<)

Also interesting that Shauna's aware of Serena's feelings for Ash. Hopefully they do progress their (Serena and Ash's) relationship further than just playing this "Will they-won't they-probably not" game. At some point it better be Ash realizing something's up. He's more intelligent and observant than ever now, so it'd be well within his character to pick up on it eventually.

I died at Shauna bringing up something about Ash and Serena spazzing out. So Shauna knows too? Guys are so dense.

What is with this show and giving Serena these Pokemon that I'm falling in love with? It's only been in two episodes and I love this Eevee. It's easily the best Eevee I've seen in the entire series. And I've seen several Eevees. There is always one in every season. But this episode just put me in a good mood. Good dynamics, no TR, Pokemon interactions, heck I even enjoyed Ash this week. Tierno and his dancing Blastoise was great. Shauna with Ivysaur was also great. Looks like Ivysaur is finally friendly with other Pokemon now. Where do I even begin? Eevee, this show stealing little creature. I love how it uses Bunnelby as a shield to avoid screentime. It wants Bunnelby to have it's screentime. Because that's the generous kind of Pokemon Eevee is. And really like what they are doing with it and Chespin. I hope they continue it for as long as possible. Eevee's giving all these Pokemon the Eevee tail of approval but not ole Chespin. Chespin's going to have to work for it.

The Pokemon battle was surprisingly fine. What's this? Serena and Shauna are not jobbing? For a performer Shauna is not a bad battler. Her Ivysaur covered for Eevee and took a Iron Tail from Pikachu, and lived to tell the tale. Not bad Shauna. Eevee having a dance battle with Blastoise was beyond entertaining. Just seeing the big tortoise try and out dance this small little fox creature put a smile on my face. And it seems Tierno is not giving up on Fatchanceshipping either. Overall a enjoyable episode. I have no complaints that I can think of. I don't even care that Serena quit the battle. She has yet to finish a real battle yet so she's staying in character. But I seriously want a Serena vs Shauna match someday. Please let it happen. Oh yeah and they tease all of Eevee's evolved forms. Now that Serena knows of them all I wonder which one she wants? Hmm.

Break the Limit
It was, though I knew it would be messy given all those involved, so my expectations were short to begin with. Serena can't seem to catch a break with her battles. :/

Considering Serena's goal has absolutey nothing to do with battles its not really tragic at all and doesn't hurt her character that much in the grand scheme

Then she may as well have not even participated in one here if it's irrelevant to the grand scheme of things. Eevee could've learned performance techniques while doing simple training instead of battling.

Whether or not this lesson could have been taught without the battle is irrelevant. Literally makes no difference at all. In fact, if this episode lacked the battle and only had Serena coaching eevee, it would be MUCH worse. Where's the entertainment value?

Why is everyone so battle hungry? People can own pokemon and not participate in battles, many people in the games just have them as pets for example. The battling is Ash's job, performing in showcases is Serena's. Or should I be angry that Ash isn't performing in a Showcase (if the gender seclusion wasn't present)? Now I know, "bu-but May and Dawn". Two people who participated in contests, which involved battles.

I'm glad they ended the battle the way they did. I don't know what people were expecting. It was a ridiculous mismatch and it's obvious if they had let the battle play out it the side with the two Pokemon highly experienced at battles would've won instead of the side with one raised to be a flashy performer and the other with no experience with...anything, really. I guess alternatively they could've made Eevee and Ivysaur battle Noibat and Politoed or something but they probably wanted to show off Tierno's Blastoise.

I'll agree I enjoyed the character stuff in the first half a lot more though.
