Taillow is ok for in-game but I wouldn't reccomend it for competative play. Or the battle frontier.

Taillow is a brilliant Pokemon for the beginning of the game, but as you play through you'll find better options later on. I say catch one now and replace it later.

He will obviously evolve it into a swellow.

Sure, its a fine pokemon for the walkthrough, there are better flyers though like mence. You could wait till you can get a doduo (dodrio).

Ralts, as it is a great pokemon and you can keep it in your team. For the beginning I also suggest wingull as it is one of the first two water pokemon for awhile, the other one is surskit.
EDIT: Of course I forget Lotad, but that depends on whether you can catch it in your game.

Surskit can blow during the beginning of the game with just Bubble. Just level up your Surskit to Lv25 for it to learn Bubblebeam. I would then evolve it at Lv25 to Masquerain. Masquerain doesn't blow unless you train it properly witha Macho Brace.

And don't diss Taillow or Swellow. Both of them are exceedingly powerful if you use them properly. Especially if your Swellow has Endeavour and Quick Attack.

i wuold use a swablu in the begining of your game that way you can beat the
dragon gym leader or raise a trapinch also

I agree...Ralts/Abra,Taillow/Wingull and Shroomish. Lotad, Aron and Nincada are lousy as far as I can see. Lotad only has a move...which I forgot but remembered it was useless Aron has defense moves...which are useless again, Nincada has moves that...okay, maybe Nincada is quite good.
Though out of all of the Pokémon, I say the better ones are

Shroomish and Ralts.
But that's my opinion, though.

I also suggest Taillow for your team. Once it is a Swellow, it becomes really fast and powerful. Trust me, I have one and mine is a great battler so I can see that a Taillow/Swelloe would be a good choice for you. Its attacks need to consist of Aerial Ace. It helps with those double-team using trainers.

Pokemon for the beginning of the game could consist of Shroomish, it would be great as a Breloom in the future and it seems that your team needs a pokemon that has better grass type moves/abilities (I see Lotad being more of a water type battler). Plus the spore ability isn't bad either!
