Takin' It To The Chinchou (214)

Lol, I liked the part when James was imagining the Chinchou lighting up on a Christmas tree and Ash getting shocked from touching the Chinchou tentacles was hilarious.

I kind of predicted that Kasumi would want to capture Chonchie, although sadly for her, the one at the port belonged to Daiki. I found the island's tradition of escorting the Chonchie from the lake to the ocean to be enticing, because it was like a huge migration. And poor Kasumi, she missed out on getting Sunnygo again.

Chonchie's ability to be mobile on land actually surprised me since fish Pokemon normally can't wander around on land. I figured that Chonchie would just splash around like a Koiking before seeing them here.

So Ash got a bit of characterization, but it was more of a result of his growth through the whole arc. The star was the group of Chinchou and slowly learning more about what they can do.

I had no idea that Chinchou could move on land since they're supposed to be fish, but I liked the fact that they migrated and had to travel very far just to get to the other side of the island. I was reminded of Butterfree's farewell episode when the boy's Chinchou had to leave to the ocean and it was a sad moment that I was surprised affect me since the kid was a minor character.
