Cless Aileron
Tales Fanatic
Approved by PsiUmbreon
The third incarnation of the Tales Fan Club has been created. Here's the club where you can talk about Namco's Tales series (Once again, I added the Tales of Symphonia tag since most people are going to be thinking of Tales of Symphonia rather than the other games).
The rules are as followed:
1. All main rules of the forums applies.
2. No bashing. There's the fine line between criticism and bashing and it needs to be followed.
3. In regards to fanart posting...please make sure to give credit to whoever did it when you post one. (I am really going to be keeping an eye out for this)
Previous club members, sorry but you're going to have to rejoin. It's just to make sure you guys get on the list. So come on in and enjoy yourselves.

And of course, I listed the games in the series.
------
Main series:
*Tales of Phantasia (Super Famicom/Super Nintendo)
This is the first game in the series. The cartridge had the biggest amount of memory in the cartridge (48mb) for it had voices and a theme song. Introduced the series' trademark Linear Motion Battle.
Theme Song: "Yume Wa Owaranai" sung by Yukari Yoshida
Story: Cless Alvein goes on a quest to get revenge against the person who destroyed his village, which then leads to going after a powerful magic lord named Dhaos, who is fighting against the people of the world.
*Tales of Destiny (Playstation)
The first indirect sequel. Taking the Linear Motion Battle from Tales of Phantasia, it added some improvements into the system. Techs are no longer limited to a certain range and now four moves are used with the tech button (Pressed alone and pressed with Up, Down, or Left/Right) and gave way to comboing for bonus experience points. Also started the concept of the world map chats and introduced multiplayer function and Manual control (Though you'd have to equip an accessory for any of the multiplayer or manual control).
Theme Song: "Yume De Aru Youni" sung by DEEN
Story: Stahn Aileron stowed away on a flying ship called the Draconis when monsters invaded the ship. He finds a strange sword in the storage and gets him, along with others, involved with events dealing with an ancient war.
Localization notes: The Japanese voices were left in and the world map chats were removed (Though you can still hear them if you save at the last save point in the game). The theme song was removed and replaced with an instrumental score.
*Tales of Phantasia (Playstation)
A remake of the Super Famicom game that blows away the original. Used an enhanced version of Tales of Destiny's battle system (Can now swing weapon for 2 hits before linking with a tech and the usage of shortcut buttons), world map chats became face chats accessed by pressing select on the world map, and a difficulty option was given (including an unlockable Mania mode). Suzu Fujibayashi has also become a playable character.
Theme Song: "Yume Wa Owaranai" sung by Yo-Mi
Story: (Read the story info at the info about the SFC version)
*Tales of Eternia (Playstation, PSP)
Linear Motion Battle has gotten a full-on improvement in this game. Get in three hits before linking it to a tech, can only use one item at a time between usage, using spells do not pause the battle. Multiplayer no longer requires an accessory to use the function and Manual mode is brought out through a key item.
Theme Song: "Flying" sung by Garnet Crow
Story: Rid/Reid Hershel and Farah Oersted lived a peaceful life in Rasheans in the world of Inferia until they find a mysterious girl from the overhead world of Celestia crashed her flying craft into Inferia and brings a message about the fate of the two worlds.
Localization notes: Face chats when camping were removed (They're different from the hints from hitting the select button on the world map). The theme song was removed and replaced with an instrumental score. Items were dummied out because it required an accessory that did not get released outside Japan (The Pocketstation). This game was released in North America as "Tales of Destiny II", which would end up starting some confusion.
Note: The PSP version of Tales of Eternia is the same thing as the original PS1 version.
*Tales of Destiny 2 (Playstation 2)
The Direct sequel to Tales of Destiny. Uses an SP system that is fighting stamina, a zone system that penalizes for jumping behind the enemy and into their zone, and Manual mode is given to you from the get go. Also introduced the grading system that gives you grade points depending on how well you battled and also introduce the magic barrier used by hitting Down + Defend. There are now 6 different difficulty modes, four are unlockable, including an actual Easy mode (Don't confuse Normal mode for Easy mode. They're two completely different difficulty modes)
Theme Song: "Key to My Heart" sung by Mai Kuraki
Story: Taking place 18 years after Tales of Destiny. Kyle Dunamis, the son of Stahn Aileron and Rutee Katrea, and Loni Dunamis finds a huge len in the Ruins of Laguna and the len breaks and a girl appears, looking for the hero who can help her save the world. Kyle goes on a journey to help this girl to save the world.
Note: This is the real Tales of Destiny 2. It would be best to call Tales of Eternia, "Tales of Eternia" because of this.
*Tales of Phantasia (Game Boy Advance)
The third remake of Tales of Phantasia. Mixes elements of the Super Famicom and the Playstation version.
Theme Song: (The one used for the Super Famicom version)
Story: (Read the story info at the info about the SFC version)
*Tales of Symphonia (Gamecube, Playstation 2)
The one Tales most people would be familiar with. But still, I'll go with the formal stuff.
This is the Tales series' first step into 3D and the Linear Motion Battle system uses a Multi-Lined battle formation (Changing the target changes where your fighting line is).
Theme Song (Gamecube version): Starry Heaven sung by Day After Tomorrow
Theme Song (Playstation 2 version): Soshite Boku Ni Dekiru Koto sung by Day After Tomorrow
Story: Lloyd and Genius goes with Collet on a journey to restore their world but then finds out two worlds fight for the mana supply and then goes to find a way to save both worlds.
Localization notes: Face chats are not voice acted. The theme song was removed and replaced with an instrumental score.
*Tales of Rebirth (Playstation 2)
Tales return to 2D. Battle system now has 3 fighting lines to fight on and a force gauge in place of TP and a rush gauge.
Theme Song: "Good Night" sung by Every Little Thing
Story: King Landras Lindblum released all his force (the magic of the game), awakening the force within the Huma (Gajumas were the only one able to use it at that time) and died. One year later, Calgia has entered a state of confusion due to the force. Eugene and Mao are on a journey to find out why Lindblum released all his force and wanted Veigue to come along, which he does after Claire was forced to go with Sale and Toma when those two came to the village to perform a mission.
*Tales of Legendia (Playstation 2)
A Tales that's a bit different. Kazuto Nakazawa is the character designer, battles are fought on one plane, able to throw enemies, and Go Shiina is the music composer.
Theme Song: "TAO" sung by Do As Infinity
Story: While adrifted at sea, Senel Coolidge and Shirley are drawn to a ship called the Legacy. Shirley ends up getting abducted. Senel and others will discover the secrets that lies within the Legacy.
Localization Notes: The theme song is replaced with an instrumental score. Also, the Character Quests does not have voice acting during the story segments.
*Tales of the Abyss (Playstation 2)
The Tales series' 10 anniversary game.
---
Gaidens (Side games):
*Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon (Game Boy Color)
A story of two twin children (Mel and Dio) with a doomed destiny and their lives that ties in with the events that took place in Tales of Phantasia. Mel and Dio has the ability to take on abilities of costumes they wear (swordsman, mage, etc.). Since this game was on the Game Boy Color, it was too limited to use the traditional Linear Motion Battle, so there was a turn based system used that took elements of the Tales series, traditional battle system.
*Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 2 (Game Boy Advance)
Frio and Kyaro goes to save their world from danger and are given the ability to use abilites from wearing costumes. The game uses the Linear Motion Battle system known in the series (Three characters in the party fight in battles: Frio, Kyaro, and a Tales character you recruit to help in a mission) and characters from Tales of Phantasia, Tales of Destiny, and Tales of Eternia are around to help and even interact with the other Tales characters.
*Tales of the World: Summoner's Lineage (Game Boy Advance)
This is a Strategy RPG that is actually a semi-sequel to Namco's Pocket King. The story takes place in the Tales of Phantasia world in the Aselia calender year 4765 (Tales of Phantasia took place in 4304) and focuses on Klarth's descendant, Fulein.
*Tales of the World: Narikiri Dungeon 3 (Game Boy Advance)
Frio and Kyaro (Narikiri Dungeon 2 heroes) goes through time to keep the Tales legends from being altered. The gameplay is different where the missions are done in Strategy RPG style and when you move a party into an enemy party, you engage battle in traditional Linear Motion Battle. You can have up to four different parties consisting of three characters during these missions. Tales characters accompany you on these missions. Characters from Tales of Phantasia, Tales of Destiny, Tales of Eternia, Tales of Destiny 2, and Tales of Symphonia are all there to help and also interact with each other too.
*Tales of Fandom (Playstation)
Two words: Fan Disc. This is a fan disc ment for the die hard Tales fans. It contains stories involving Tales of Phantasia, Tales of Destiny, and Tales of Eternia. There's also a puzzle game (Craymel Lab). Like I said, it's ment for the fans (And since the die hard fans are bound to buy this, they even ended up releasing two different covers for the fan disc so that those same die hard fans end up buying it twice).
*Tales of Eternia Online (PC)
An MMORPG based in the Tales of Eternia universe.
---
Mobile Games (Cellphone games):
These are games for the cellphone. Due to other countries being behind in cell phone technology and all that, you can only play these games by being in Japan with the right cellphone (FOMA 900i). I just list these here for completion sake.
*Tales of Tactics
This is a strategy RPG except when attacking a unit, you'll enter the traditional Linear Motion Battle and given a few seconds to beat up the enemy as much as you can. The story involves a crossover with Tales of Phantasia, Tales of Destiny, Tales of Eternia, Tales of Destiny 2, and Tales of Symphonia in an original scenario along with an original character named Rukku (Character designed by Mutsumi Inomata).
*Tales of Breaker
An original, main line Tales game using a two-on-two Linear Motion Battle system. Characters designed by Mutsumi Inomata.
Plus some of the mini games have also been converted to the Cell Phone:
*Craymel Lab
The puzzle game found in Tales of Fandom.
*Whis Battle
A card mini-game found in Tales of Eternia.
*Groovy Arche
A mini-game found in the PS1 version of Tales of Phantasia. Plays like the classic 2D spaceshooter, Gradius.
