If nobody remembers you, then you never existed.

It has already been centuries since Labal arose. Labal, an embodiment of Death itself, came out of thin air, and struck before anyone forsaw him, swiftly and mortally.

First it was only a rumor in small villages. However, the curse spread like wildfire. Soon, several large cities had fallen to the man´s power as well. Labal was capable of transforming pure innocence, babies and young children, twisting their souls until they became reckless, berserk demons that wouldn´t hesitate to assassinate the first human they set their sights on. They were denominated the Ezra, and nobody had the heart to kill them, even if they were now horrible monsters.

A solution needed to be found before all of humanity succumbed to Labal. The Order Anima, an organization of talented and highly powerful sages, was the first to take on the task. After analyzing many reports and theorizing about the monster, they finally came to the conclusion that Labal was no human at all: he was a composition, an ammalgamation of every person´s fears and insecurities. As the world´s terror of Labal increased, he fed off of it, and became stronger, while everyone´s children perished and were reborn as monstruosities.

The only way to stop Labal was to erase the last trace of fear of him in everyone´s heart. The only way to stop Labal would be that he never existed.

And that is exactly what the Order Anima did. They prepared a massive ritual ceremony, harnessing the last drop of power of every sage in the Order, but it was not nearly enough to cleanse the entire world. They would have to derive a source of mana from somewhere else, and they chose to use the World itself. They extracted much of the world´s mana and used it in the ceremony.

That day, a searing light purged the world.

It has been much time since that happened. After the successful ritual, Labal became a mere human that was quickly assassinated and the Ezra became the lifeless bodies of young boys and girls. The entire world mourned, but they didn´t know that Labal slew their children. The official explanation that the Ten Sages of the Order Anima--the only ones who knew the truth--gave to the world, was that an extremely rapid virus had spread across the world, killing the children, who had low defenses, and damaging the minds of adults, making them loose their memory. Until this day that is the official explanation of why almost half the world´s children suddenly died.

Today, however, things are quite different. Humanity has recovered and now things are relatively normal, without any memory of Labal in the hearts of anyone. However, the world hasn´t healed as quickly. The shortage of mana resulting from the Memory Cleanse ritual has left the world uncapable to fullfil its inhabitants´ needs, and wars have sprouted everywhere during the ages to control the scarce resources that are left.

The world has advanced, but there are still thousands starving, thousands dying. Those that are lucky, however, live in peaceful cities and villages, enjoying prosperity.

Today, the talk of the town, the biggest news everywhere is what happened to an elderly couple living in a small, isolated village off the coast. In the middle of the night, they woke up to strange sounds in the house, and the man, with an old sword by his side, went to investigate.

What they found in the main room neither of the two could describe accurately as they were too shocked and desolate. They said vague things about it. About how it started screaming desperately as soon as the man approached it, about how it seemed to be pulsating, "it looked like someone had been turned inside out..."

The man did not hesitate to repeatedly thrust the cold steel of his blade into the small, yet constantly growing monster before it became a threat. His wife joined him, terrified, seeing the thing´s last moments of life, if it even was alive.

Then the monster seemed to vanish into a black mist that evaporated above their heads.

The only thing left was the body of their seven-year-old granddaughter, a bloody corpse.

Sign-Ups

You are the descendant of one of nine Sages that once composed the Order Anima. The Tenth Sage, as far as is known, never had any descendants. The secret of what really happened, Labal, the Ezra and the Memory Cleansing has been passed down your family from the Sage all the way down to you, and you have been ordered to go and investigate this happening to really know what occured, along with the other eight descendants. The only people in the world that know what this could mean.

So far so many spots have been taken:

Right now, please know that the point isn´t that we´re all supposed to find each other in the first five minutes. The nine descendants live in different places, and therefore will come to the village from different routes. Some may come across another, but the idea isn´t that the nine members come together immediately.

Name: All kinds of names accepted.
Gender: Again...
Age: All ages accepted.
Species: So far three species are available: human, half-elf and elf. Humans often use physical attacks while elves concentrate on magic--just a guideline. If you want to be of another species, PM me first and we´ll see if it´s acceptable.
Description: How your character looks physically. Pictures are accepted, but don´t be lazy.
Personality: How your character acts. As you should know this is important, do be thorough.
Weapon: Here you should describe the kind of weapon that your character can wield, as the weapon that your character currently has.
Accessories: Any other accessories that you have. You can have a maximum of two accessories in the beginning.
Ability: Basically, what does your character specialize in. Does he/she cast offensive, elemental magic like Genis? Maybe he/she´s an all-out physical warrior with battle techniques like Lloyd or is able to heal and cast light magic like Raine. You could also blend magic and swordplay like Zelos and Kratos do. Finally, it´s your choice entirely. Though make sure it suits your weapon.
Techs: The techniques (Techs) or attacks that your character can perform in the beginning of the RPG. He/she should have no more than three and, of course, they shouldn´t be too powerful. If you´ve played any Tales game you should know what kind of techs go here, though common sense or general RPG knowledge are enough; if you´re a mage a possibility is Fireball, if you´re a warrior it could be something like Double Slash, and so forth. They can be real techs from a Tales game or made up.

Age: 17
Species: Half-Elf
Description: Avalon has a lean, lightly muscled frame and light-toned skin as is typical in half-elves. Avalon´s hair is pure white, tied into a ponytail on the back that falls down to his knees. His eyes are lavender in color. His shirt is green and made of thick material, with short sleeves. The shirt itself reaches down to his stomach. Under that he has a black, long-sleeved shirt that covers him down to the two brown belts with silver buckles that he wears. His pants are black as well. Over them he has a green, incomplete kilt-ish thing (Ever seen Riku´s in Dark Mode? Like that, but it´s not fringed, basically a kilt without a front part) with small, golden orbs incrusted on the sides. His boots and gloves are black, with a golden triangle drawn on his right glove and a silver star on his left one.
Personality: Avalon is in his own world most of the time, to the point that some people would think he´s feeble-minded. In reality, Avalon is quite intelligent, but always finds himself incapable to do anything in the company of other people, as he is definetely not a team person at all. To avoid having to work with the eight other descendants, he was ready to go on this mission alone, but, of course, his parents did not permit that. It looks like he´ll have to at least reply every once in a while if he wants the mission to succeed.
Though Avalon´s personal reclusion includes a mistrust of pretty much everyone, he trusts his father and mother blindly, doing everything that they tell him to do without even questioning the motive most of the time. He´s ready to punch anyone else who may get too close, however. (It´s more of a reflex than anything else. Don´t take it personally.)
Weapon: Avalon´s weapon is the chain. The chain that he wields is usually wrapped around his right arm, and he adeptly twists and turns it to battle effectively with it. Because of his magic power, he is also able to control the chain with mana. Avalon´s current weapon is nothing special, a chain called the Iron Snake. Every chain ends in something different. Avalon´s ends in a metal snake head, with its mouth open, bearing its sharp fangs. This formation helps the chain grapple on to enemies.
Accessories:
Drain Charm - A small charm that protects Avalon from the effects of Curse and Weak.
Spirit Bangle - A mystic bangle that recovers a very small portion of Avalon´s Tech Power (TP) for every enemy he defeats.
Ability: In the physical aspect, Avalon has enough prowess with the chain to ward off enemies and has knowledge of a couple offensive techs. However, on the magical side, Avalon is learning to be a summoner. Unlike the normal summoner, that makes pacts with the Summon Spirits, Avalon is an Otherworld Summoner, who demands the service of Otherworld Spirits, which, once he gains service of, can pull into this world with his chain to battle. As of now Avalon has no available summons, as he must defeat a large number of monsters and offer their soul force at specific locations to summon an Otherworld Spirit and gain its services.
Techs:
Grapple - Throws the chain at the enemy, damaging it and holding on to it so it can´t escape.
Iron Masher - Can only be used once Grapple is used successfully. Pulls chain abruptly, throwing self at enemy and damaging it with a powerful kick.
Ouroboros - The chain bends into a mystic circle in front of him, temporarily reducing the damage he takes.

We want variety in this RPG. So, if you see that a bunch of physical fighters have already signed up, you should try signing up as someone that concentrates more on magic. Finally, we MUST have one healer. Thus, if there is only one spot left and we have no healer only a character with healing capabilities will be admitted.

As of now no other Summoner characters are permitted.

Age: 90 (Looks about 20)
Species: Elf
Description: Ithell is fairly tall, not so much that he stands out, but he can look over most crowds. His hair is a pale blue colour, quiet long, and tied at several places as it runs down his back. His skin is pale, though not ill looking. He makes no effort to hide his eleven ears. He wears a simple robe, that covers his entire body, and hits the floor. At the edges, both the bottom and sleeves, the material is decorated with a silver trim, while the robe itself is a deep dark blue. Around his neck, he has a large piece of material, that creates a triangle on his back, while a longer part of it hangs loosely down his front, reaching as far as his knees. This is also silver in colour, fastened at waist level with a White Silver pendant shaped like a crescent moon.
Personality: Ithell is very respective of the many magic forms of the world, including healing, offensive magic and summoning. He is most interested in how other deal with situations placed before them, but will not hesitate to aid them in any way he can. As a healer, he has little regard for violence, but if he is forced to, he will use what little ability he has as a physical fighter, to aid (he knows no offensive spells yet). Ithell will care for and treat anyone, no matter who they are, or how they treat him. He expresses no displeasure or distaste, but one should be wary not to cross him. On occasion, he has a wild streak that is very out of place.
Weapon: Ithell carries a sacred book, that channels his magic (Spell Book). When casting, it floats before him, allowing him to read from it without his hands being restricted. He can also whack people with it.
Accessories:
Aqua Cape - Reduces Water and Ice elemental damage
Spirit Ring - Slowly recovers TP (Magical strength)
Ability: Healer / Limited offensive Magic
Techs:
Cure - Partially heals a single person
Purge - Purges illness from a person's body (such as poison, paralysis, etc)
Shield - Increases elemental defence of a single person


I've only placed Symphonia, so if there's a world map that this RPG takes place in, can you provide one?

Anyways, yes. The world that Tales of Memoria takes place in is new. I´m currently working on a map on Paint (don´t expect anything special, but at least decent enough to get around) and will post it in the RPG Café once I´m done. That´ll probably be around Monday, though, as I´ll be leaving my computer soon and won´t be back till then.

EDIT - kurama45: First off, two things are wrong with your name. It´s plain cheesy to use a Yu Yu Hakusho character´s name and put it into a Tales character. Then your last name. There´s no way you´re gonna be related to Lloyd Irving. Did you read the plot?

Anyways, all the other sections are damn short and you´ve got lots of typos. Sorry.

I never said you can´t edit your sign-up. However, you´ll have to really impress me (CAPITALS, GRAMMAR, NON-CHEESYNESS) if you want a shot at getting in, and will have to continue that behavior throughout the RPG if you want a shot at staying in.

If you edit your sign-up and it still doesn´t satisfy me I won´t give you any more chances.

Species: Human

Description: Aereid has a normal complexion, not too tanned, yet not too pale, and stands at about 5 foot 11. He has messy bleached black hair that touches just below his neck, and has forest green eyes that seem to be pretty perceptive. His body is well-defined, but is not very muscular. He wears a loose-fitting vestment that is mainly white, but some parts are coloured purple. He also wears a raiment that is black. Somehow, the vestment has been made in such a way that it has short sleeves. He wears white gloves that reach just below his elbow, and wears black shoes where the hole for the foot to go in reaches just above the ankle.

Personality: Aereid does look pretty feminine, but don’t let looks get to you. He can be in fact quite fierce in a battle, and despite this sudden change into a barbaric intensity to fight, Aereid is normally quite gentle and kind in a normal environment without hostility or animosity. He does not discriminate between races and does not really care about the way anyone looks, but rather, the way they act. He also turns out to be quite watchful, and likes to be alert for danger. He’s not chivalrous, but will like to help anyone in danger.

Weapon: Aereid wields a long sword, an ornate one, that has a crimson orb attached to the hilt. It apparently has mystical qualities, but no one knows for sure. The blade has a flower pattern forged on it. It has a clean silver edge and has been tempered quite well.

Accessories:
Alexandrite – Increases the potential life force and mental energy by a moderate amount. A precious gemstone.
Mental Symbol – A holy charm that restores mental energy at a small rate every few seconds.

Ability: Mainly a physical fighter, Aereid’s abilities are physical attacks. However he has the capability to learn a few magicks.

Techs:
月影牙 / Getsueiga / Moonbeam Fang – A slash upwards, releasing a moon beam that falls upon the enemy.

星夜剣 / Seiyaken / Starry Night Sword – A slash against the ground and into an upward arc, releasing a thin, weak laser beam. Can attack at range.

虎牙破斬 / Kogahazan / Tiger Slash – A jumping upward slash into a downward slash back to the ground. Good for combo attacks while dodging ground attacks at the same time.

EDIT: As for my Tales play knowledge, I've beaten Symphonia, Destiny, Eternia, and currently playing Abyss, in Japanese, therefore, I've decided to list my techs in Kanji, Romaji and the English translation. ^^;;

He has a red vest with white stripes on the sides. He has black gloves which help him have a better grip on his swords. He has brown eyes. Wes wears baggy blue pants. He has crimson red shoes.

Personality: Wes usually acts kind and considerate. He is friendly and helpful when he is in a good mood. He is calm and silent. He doesn't hold back if someone is in trouble. Wes is willing to sacrifice himself for someone else. He will help anyway he can. Wes is unselfish and will put another person's needs before his own. Wes always likes to help. He likes peace and quiet. He enjoys giving advice.

Weapon: Twin sharp swords. Wes' swords are nothing special except for the fact that they have a long sharp edge and that weird markings are engraved on the sides of the blades.
Accessories: Strength Cape: Allows Wes to use stronger sword techniques.
Ability: Warrior that uses samurai techniques
Techs:Combo Slash: Wes uses a 6 hit combo slash with his swords.

Name: Etch Vandal

Gender: Male

Age: 14

Species: Human

Description: Etch is rather short for his age, in fact, he doesn't look at all a day over 12. His face is still very innocent looking, and he himself doesn't have much of a figure at all. His eyes are blue, similar to the stone lapis lazuli. His blond hair is short kept, and hidden a bit by a small white and blue hat worn on his head. Etch tends to wear long, flowing, and sometimes extravagant clothing, a white canvas shirt with a blue celtic knot pattern designed on the back of it, his family crest, with a single fancy cloth wrapped around each arm, floating elegantly behind his back. He wears light blue pants as well, with bells tied at they ends of them.

Personality: Etch is rather innocent minded, and doesn't usually think with malice. He is the son of a rather wealthy family, and, after having recieved his duty, has decided that he will preform it without a second thought. However, Etch refuses to kill a human, and can only be driven to fight if they commited some horrible deed. Etch likes to play games, and have fun, even while bound to a heavy duty such as this one. He's just fine solitary, and tends to make friends out of animals and such as he goes along alone. Etch is infatuated with music, and loves bring joy through song.

Weapon: Two pairs of castanets, one in each hand, which serve as a magical focus. Etch has next to no use as a hand to hand combatant, but has a good deal of magical talent.

Accessories: (I'm assuming these don't have to be from a game? I'd actually need a little help were that the case.)
Celtic Knot - Slowly recovers TP.
Poison Charm - A charm used to protect from the effects of Poison.

Ability: Uses the castanets in each hand as a focus for magic. Magic is preared by playing a melody on the castanets, and focusing mana through them, in order to cast a spell. Spells take time to use, and if he's interrupted or cant complete the song, the magic will fail to work.

Techs:

Sonata Allegro - (First Movement) A fast series of beats which resonate in the air. The Sonata Allegro is fast pased, but takes a while of time to play, taking up the First Movement. Sonata Allegro attacks with the force of the wind, generated by the beat of the magically focused castanets, which sings a beautiful melody through the air as it travels into the enemy.

Rondo - (Third/Fourth Movement) A fast, but very long, and powerful, echoing series of beats, that serves as the entirity of the final movement. Focusing immense energy, Rondo strikes down a lightning both from the elements of the world around the area in which the music plays. Rondo's downside comes not in its charge time, but in the period in which Etch is unable to move after preforming it. It makes up the last movement of any piece.

Name: Naesa Lindiire
Gender: female
Age: 27
Species: Half-elf

Description: Naesa is only of average height, falling around a little bit above the five and a half foot mark. Her raven hair falls half way down her back, tied at only a single point a quarter of the way up. A shorter, secondary section of her hair is much shorter and falls in front of her moderately pointed ears and on to her chest. Her left ear has a single piercing while her right ear has two piercings near the tops of them, all adorned with plain pewter rings. Her blue-grey eyes always seem to be focused on something, even if nothing is there. A blouse of sage and breeches of a light tan are her common attire. Over that, she generally wears a hooded robe of a dark forest green along with a deep charcoal sash around her waist. Keeping with her loose style, she wears a comfortable pair of sandals for travel.

Personality: Naesa is to say the least, distrustful of others and their motives, which does lead to some rather rash and ill thought assumptions. When possible, she spends time observing the actions of others to better understand them and their motives. Thus, she can be a bit skittish around others and it is highly unadvisable to come up behind her and grab her shoulder - she might just loose off a lightning bolt if she can get the incantation fast enough or use her staff. As it is, in a group she prefers to keep to the back to minimize the chances of being used as fodder for an enemy as well as to silently laugh at those up front when something goes wrong. In tough situations, she reverts back to watching out for herself first, then others, having enough sense to try to stay alive than have some altruistic vision of glory.

Weapon: A simple walnut staff with a leather grip used as a channeling guide for a few of her spells. The only time it's used as a melee weapon is if she has no other choice, even then, she'd be lucky to bash her way out of a paper bag with it. It's more or less something to trip foes

Accessories:
Flash Amulet - small, polished metal crescent moon that may momentarily blind an opponent.

Ability: Naesa is a pure mage, being such she's fairly limited in other forms of combat, choosing to flee if an opponent gets too close than stand and smack them around with her staff. While she may be a caster, she prefers to dabble in select elements more than others - namely of fire, wind, electricity, and darkness. She's also one to not refrain from flinging her magic around so long as she is able to. Generally anytime she's not hurling magic, she's running around trying to not get killed.

Techs:
Heat Sphere - a small searing orb of flame is shot towards the opponent, exploding on impact.

Lightning - weak bolt of electricity strikes the foe. It has the chance to slow or stun lesser opponents.

Shadow Orb - A small orb of condensed dark energy is hurled at the foe and releases upon impact. May momentarily disorientate an opponent.
