Tanking Time

Just curious, has anyone ever used Starmie as a tank, because most people I've encountered have used it as a sweeper and I'm probably the first in my class to use it as a tank.

I don't use it. Period. XD

I vastly prefer the Water/Psychic that your avatar touts as opposed to that glitz-garnering Starmie; I feel he is much more solid contender than his reedier, swifter counterpart. Plus he *woahmg* actually gets Calm Mind.

But enough about my favorite Water type. I would definitely use Starmie as a sweeper if I ever wanted to touch the thing; its role in that regard simply overshadows its use as a tank, especially since its defences and HP can't must to the levels needed to take repeated beatings.

Moving to RMT where you'll probably get more detailed discussion on the topic. :)

Starmie isn´t a tank, as it doesn´t have decent def, sp.def or HP. Good tanks are Umbreon, Slowbro/Slowking.

Pokemon used Thunderbolt. No more "tank". Cosmic Power isn't good enough to make a fragile pokemon a tank. It'll still lose to something with Seismic Toss, hello Blissey, which your friend's opponent wasn't smart enough to have. Besides, if anything you'd EV train it in Defenses so it wouldn't die to a fast attack, which is retarded to do to a Starmie in the first place.

Recover.

Deathstar is as close as it gets. However, 85 in both defenses isn't that bad.
