I finally decided on my team, assuming they keep Poliwag where it was in Crystal as I don't want to battle Falkner with only a Chikorita/Bayleef.

Chikorita -> Bayleef -> Meganium
Poliwag -> Poliwhirl -> Politoed
Smoochum -> Jynx (If they keep the Odd Egg, but I may get one anyways)
Mareep -> Flaaffy -> Ampharos
Slugma -> Magcargo
Eevee -> Umbreon

Nissan Returns

These threads pop up for every game, I swear...

But anyway, I always plan out teams, but I end up using pokemon I've never used before, like i've done with every game. I want to use a team including Furret, though, like I'm using beedrill in LG...

Buck The Bidoof Masta

No HM Slaves Here
I like to go for:
Fire-->Cyndaquil/Houndoom
Water-->Totodile/Lapras
Grass-->Chicorita/?
Flying-->Noctowl
Dragon-->Kingdra/Any
Random-->Heracross/Tyranitar/Snorlax

Gweedo

Skarmory Rider
If possible I'll have:

Feraligatr
Skarmory
Dragonite
Ampharos
Umbreon
??? Bellossom/Sunflora/Houndoom???

Pharos

Dr. Harleen Quinzel
Well, Ampharos is/was always my favorite Poke'mon, so he's on the list.

Then I'd have to go with Stantler. He was a tank with a lot of kick.

Yanmega, assuming we'd be able to evolve Yanma at some point.

Mamoswine, assuming the same as previous.

Either Skarmory or Xatu, depending on my mood at the time.

And finally, Kingdra. He looks funny. That's enough for me.

I really can't think of a Team...
I wanted to use Feraligatr, but has poor Sp. Atk, and I wanted something that could use Surf Effectively (I refuse to use multiples of the same type on a team, ever).
So, I was thinking of using Starmie, and maybe using Meganium as my starter? Or Typhlosion. Typhlosion seems better than Meganium, IMO...
But, than again, Starmie isn't good at using Waterfall. So I may go for Feraligatr.
...Urgh....

I'm definitely using Scizor. It's my all time favorite.

I was thinking of using Magcargo, as it's also one of my favorites... But it's not the best Pokemon... I won't though if I use Typhlosion. ...Assuming Slugma will be found before Kanto.

For a flier, I'll probably use Crobat or Xatu, if I don't have Starmie. Dodrio, maybe...?
If new Evos are in, I'll probably grab Togekiss.

I probably want an Electric-Type... Either Ampharos or Jolteon (if we get stones earlier).

The last slot could probably be anything.
Piloswine (Mammoswine if we have Evos), maybe... Though it's found pretty late in game... Maybe Mismagius if we get evos. Perhaps Victreebel (if I have no Meganium, and no Crobat)? Houndoom (No Typhlosion/Magcargo)?
..Eh.

...So...

-Meganium / Typhlosion / Feraligatr
-Scizor
-Starmie (No Feraligatr) / Magcargo (No Typhlosion)
-Xatu (No Starmie) / Crobat / Dodrio / Togekiss?
-Jolteon (Earlier thunderstone) / Ampharos
-Piloswine / Victeebel / Houndoom / Mammoswine? / Mismagius?

How messy.

Well, seeing as I am a Water user (albeit not as strategic as a balanced team), my standard WATER team will probably end up being:

Feraligatr
Suicune
Vaporeon
Empoleon (assuming trading)
Swampert (assuming trading)
Milotic (assuming trading)
Kingdra

Note that these just happen to be my favorites. As for a *more* balanced and highly biased team:

Feraligatr
Roserade
Espeon
Rapidash
Ampharos
Pigeot

WARP EVOLUTION!
Well that depends whether or not we're talking about what Generations.

If it's 1 and 2 only:
Charizard (favorite pokemon)
Feraligator
Pidgeot
Tyranitor
Scizor
Dragonite

If it's all 4:
Charizard
Feraligator
Staraptor
Gardevoir
Heat Rotom
Tyranitor

Grei

Personally, I think the fun of the game is catching Pokemon without planning it out. It's really not as much fun when you get six Pokemon you've wanted from the start and level them up, so much as it's fun to catch Pokemon and raise them into strong battlers.

Therefore, I don't have a team set-in-stone, but I think I'll have Cyndaquil and/or Totodile (I'll most likely start with Cyndaquil and try to get a Totodile), the Red Gyarados at some point (or Shellos, if that beta sprite is ever used; if I can't get a Totodile, the Red Gyarados or Shellos will be my water staple), maybe Togekiss, as a Flyer (and possibly healer, if I can somehow get my Togepi with Softboiled onto HeartGold).

So, in short:
Cyndaquil
Totodile/Red Gyarados/Shellos
Togepi

...the rest is up to chance encounters. I may eventually want a Gliscor, Mamoswine, Tyrannitar, Bulbasaur, etc., but it all depends on availability.

Hm haven't actually thought about this but lemme think:
Chikorita
Umbreon (Not sure, planning to use it on Plat team)
Red Gyarados
Houndoom
Pidgeot/Noctowl (Depending)

Not sure who the last one might be, guess I got a year to figure that one out.

Okay,
Here it goes...

Starter could be anybody, although I am leaning towards Typhlosion.
Tyranitar
Mantine
Ampharos is only a maybe, because of the possibility of Magnezone.
Houndoom if I go with Meganium.
Sunflora if I have Typhlosion
and maybe Delibird....

Well, maybe on my first time through I probably won't use a competitive team.
Just having fun first time through.
So:
-Chikorita -> Bayleef -> Meganium
-Magikarp -> Gyarados
-Gastly -> Haunter -> Genger (if possible, otherwise just Haunter I guess)
-Poliwag -> Poliwhirl -> Poliwrath
-Pikachu (seriously, if I get one early enough, possibly from Pichu from odd egg or from trade. This one's mostly for fun).
-Dratini -> Dragonair - - -> Dragonite (if I somehow get enough exp before E4).

Smart and sneaky
I like to retain balance in all of my teams and this one shall be no different. However, I am having a particularly difficult time deciding upon which starter to choose from as any of the three would greatly supplement my team. Depending on my final choice, perhaps I will replace Piloswine and/or Tyranitar with Pokemon with the type of the starters I do not use.

;181;Ampharos (Electric)

;221;Piloswine (Ice/Ground)
;248;Tyranitar (Rock/Dark)

Grass Guardian

Rags to Riches
- Meganium
- Furret
- Jumpluff/ Gligar-Gliscor
- Houndoom
- Red Gyarados
- Umbreon

Not sure if I want to hold onto to Jumpluff or not. I was thinking of using it as a status inducer and to setup Sunny Day for Maganium, Houndoom, and Umbreon. Maybe I'll replace Furret. I'm going to have to think about this.
