What? Do you expect them to be Einsteins, calculating all the properties of a Magikarp? Of course they're meant to be stupid!

Also, they don't wanna buy the Magikarp because they don't wanna spend all their money on a pokemon they can catch.

The Magikarp Salesman always cons them, though, out of a lot of money. And the things are all over the place! And Jesse got rid of the Feebass-karp because it wasn't the Feebass she wanted. That's the only recent time they've been sold a Magikarp.

And Team Rocket are NOT stupid. It's just a clever trick! And you fell for it!
