Team Rocket Motto

Anyone ever notice how little sense Team Rocket's motto made in season one?
To me, and most of us, it was just pretty rhyming words, my vocabulary wasn't
good enough to actually get what it meant. Now that I look back, I'm wondering
why they used it, it made no sense coming from villains.

To protect the world from devastation
To unite all peoples within our nation
So they're going to oppose threats and promote world peace?

To denounce the evils of truth and love
To extend our reach to the stars above
They're going to say no to evil and spread that message throughout the cosmos?

So according to this, Team Rocket is a group of protectors of justice who aim towards establishing world peace.

However, the new motto fits them perfectly, especially this line:
A rose by any other name is just as sweet.
When everything's worse, our work is complete.
ALWAYS showing up when they're not wanted and making things worse

Putting the do-gooders in their place.....we're Team Rocket......in your face!
To sum it up in word word - Annoying, the one word that perfectly describes them. [I still love them]

Isn't it that bad guys think the heroes are bad guys or something? It makes sense in a way, but not very easily understood why.

I think the idea with the first motto is to flip those idea's on their heads a bit. Like "protecting the world from devistation" for team rocket would probably be protecting the world from fair play and trust and love and all that.
And uniting people within their nation is oviously about taking over the world and making everyone a member of team rocket. Same with extending their reach to the stars above, taking over the universe.

Denouncing the evils of truth and love however is a bit wierd. I suppose the evils of truth and love might be different in team rockets eyes to the traditional idea's most people hold with truth and love. Unless it means that their going to stamp out the "evils that ARE truth and love" but i might be clutching at straws.

Anyway, it seems the motto reflects a much colder and more calculated team rocket, more like Giovanni and his organisation, then the blumbering clowns with absolutly no subltly team rocket have become in recent years due to failure after failure. Because in the first few episodes, Jessie James and Meowth were seen as quite intimidating villains.
