televised nudity, why not?

We've all seen them (at least in America). Those big, black bars placed before every private body part that isn't covered by a character's clothes. Even if it's just a blur and not the box, it still has no purpose. There are so many sensors on public television, many of which have semi-valid arguments for. *note that these aren't my own ideals; they are common excuses of network executives and sensors
Cursing: we don't want six-year-olds using curse words all the time, even if they end up using them anyway in their teenage years and beyond. Everyone curses starting at most in their teen years, but kids shouldn't be exposed to it; so most of these people refrain from cursing around kids.
Violence: We don't want kids to grow up thinking this stuff is good to do, so until the age when they can tell the difference between fiction and nonfiction they should be limited in their violence intake
Nudity: I have no idea. WTF do they think is going to happen to people, kids or otherwise, who see the uncensored human body? If we were made in God's image, why is it illegal to show that fact? I know many other countries have no problems showing nudity to any age as long as it isn't in the form of sex-scenes; they realize that the human body and its various "accessories" are perfectly natural and not to be ashamed of.
Most people in the US were raised on the idea that public and televised nudity are atrocities, even though few people even remember the original purpose for those ideals. They go with it because they were raised to, but I just don't get it. What do you think?

Er shouldn't this be in the debate section?

Apart from that well I don't have a problem with the concept, but I think it'd be best if it were confined to TV after a certain time of night and presented in the proper context, because I think we're always going to have a certain amount of association between nudity and sex - it's just the way the human mind works.

Not everyone is interested in watching porn when they turn on their tv.

Please, learn how to read :)

He said that in some countries there's nothing wrong with showing nudity as long as it's not in sex scenes. So it's not pornography. Plus, you could always change the channel. It's not like they're force-feeding it.

Lol, I think it would be fine. Over using nudity would be to much though. I mean seriously, if you don't like the nudity, don't watch it. it is as simple as that.

A naked picture of a woman isn't considered pornography? Please learn.

Really, all the hormone controlled teens here with their brains in the head of their cocks would love to see nudity anywhere they can. If you want to see nudity, go watch porn in your private place, not in domain of the public.

Some people actually have their brains in their head instead of their cock watch tv for actual quality entertainment, not to get horny. Shocking, isn't it?

If they grew up seeing it on TV just as a casual thing, they would be less impacted by it when the time comes for those hormones to kick in. If I had been seeing uncensored nudity on TV since age 5, I would be used to it by now and less influenced by any sort of "natural urges."
Also, if these guys had been seeing everything from an early age and were still able to after hitting puberty, they would become much less likely to go looking for it and getting into trouble.

Can you actually give some evidence?

Seeing nudity as a kid won't change anything, because the hormones of a teen aren't in a child. A child won't act on them because he/she lack the hormones, a teen will act on them.

As I said before, if you like nudity, there is porn. If you like entertainment for your head instead of your penis, there is Television.

I don't see anything wrong with the current system. Most of the time, censors don't take away from what's going on from the show. Even on comedy shows, it's not often that censors lead to confusion since censors usually block out only certain words that aren't too difficult to guess.

I wish it wasn't so easy to agree with this. I really do. u_u

I agree with this too. Complaints against our mild cencorship are overreaction, pure and simple.

But the main point of my posting here was to remind our members that we have a debate forum, where, incidentally, there are currently swearing, porn, and censorship debate threads active. I recommend we take our discussion to any of those delightful venues.
