I would like to acquire and event Regigigas (Toys R Us or Movie 08) for Pokemon Platinum and an event Arceus (Toys R Us) for Pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver. Is there any reasonable way to do this? Where would I have to look and what would I have to prepare?

There's a trade forum exactly for this. You would presumably need to trade for something the other person holding the offered Pokemon something they want in return. While I personally wouldn't recommend it, some people operate trading "shops" so that you can do tasks for them such as EV training or growing berries or what not and after so many points or credits or whatever, they'll trade you a Pokemon.

Worth noting the Movie/TRU Regigias does NOT have a Classic Ribbon so you may be able to find it on the GTS in the few weeks the 4th gen GTS is still available.

The individual who posted above me provided some excellent advice; the specific place you should look is here: http://www.serebiiforums.com/forumdisplay.php?154-Trade-Forum. There are various sub-sections within that forum that you can visit and/ or place requests within. Two good places to look would be the events thread, as well as the threads organized for the Pokemon for which you are searching.

With regard to the Regigigas, the GTS is indeed a good place to look, as Pokemon Movie 08 Regigigas were once pervasive there (and may still be found, if you are diligent enough in your search). You might have the best luck putting up a fairly desirable legendary (such as Mewtwo) and asking for a Lv. 100 Regigigas in return. There is always the chance that you will not receive exactly what you are looking for, but all you have to do in that situation is put the "wrong" Regigigas back up and ask for another Lv. 100 Regigigas in return. If you keep at it, someone should eventually trade you the event one.

Will black/white forest no longer work? (Been to long since I last played gen V to remember :p )

This is sad news destroys a good endgame part of gen 4-5. :(

Black City and White Forest in B/W will still work, you don't need Wi-Fi to fill them, in fact you cannot use Wi-Fi to fill them anyway.

The only feature/ sub-feature of Entralink that is rendered unusable without Wi-Fi is Entree Forest, but this has, of course, been the case for months now (in light of the closure of the Dream World). But yes, even though the overall functionality of Entralink is otherwise linked to the extent of one's use of local wireless, many of the games' other postgame contents will be seriously scaled back come May.

So this means I'll never get the last trainer star for Gen IV/V. That really sucks. At least the Dragon Quest fans have a solution to their Wifi problems.

Are you referring to the one you receive for completing the National Pokedex? It's by no means impossible to do without access to Wi-Fi, although such a project will necessitate having access to multiple games and two DS systems. If you only have one or two titles per generation, I'd start off by obtaining version exclusives.

No, I mean the one for getting the platinum flag (Gen IV) and getting every Entralink pass powers (Gen V)

Those are actually done via local wireless--essentially, communications conducted within a 20- or 30-foot radius--which isn't shutting down (there would be no way to block the games' access to it anyway). For example, in order to get the Platinum flag, you and a friend would theoretically need to be in the Sinnoh Underground at the same time and arrange it so that one person does nothing while the other constantly captures their flag (this mainly being for purposes of expediency).

Or, I could use 2 different games, and do your method with myself. That sounds reasonable, but what about the Entralink pass powers? Will I need a cheating device for that, or is it the same principle as the Underground?

I have to agree that it is a disappointment to see NWFC go but we must remember that with X and Y out we should pay our attentions towards them instead. The transfer of Pokémon from older generations won't be affected at all and the only change is interaction with other playeers on older gens only, but when we can interact on the newest gen then why moan about the loss of NWFC for Pokémon games?

Yes, that will work as well. I just used another person's DS when I acquired the Platinum flag in my own game because I did not have a second system at the time. It's not really hard to do it, just a little time-consuming. As far as the Pass Powers are concerned, the original Generation V games and their sequels are "different beasts," so to speak. In Black and White, if memory serves--I last linked my two games quite a while ago--the missions can still be completed by just one player using two DS systems/ games. However, those in Black 2/ White 2 really need to be embarked upon by two players fully involved in the missions at hand, since the objectives are much more complicated, and intimately linked to a time limit. Does all this make sense?

In my regard, I have barely used the Wifi Connections to the DS games these days. Back in the day, sure I did. Sometimes I revisit them around a year ago. But now, I don't play them. So I can see where Nintendo may be coming from. Although it would stink to shut down a part of the game for people who do still play them. Not to mention, it's cutting down connection from a great chunk of Pokemon games.

Well as long as Pokemon Bank can still work it's magic. I suppose that's not harm in doing the delivery of Pokemon from Gen 3 to 6.

So, long story short, I can still get the Platinum flag AND the Pass Powers AFTER Wi-Fi is shut down?

Yes, that will still be within the realm of possibility- although it will, unfortunately, require a bit of legwork on your own part!

I've heard that you can change your DS settings so that you connect online to different websites. Wouldn't it be possible for someone to set up their own GTS type website/server if they wanted to, as long as people changed their DS settings to go to it?

See this would be true, but many of the 3rd party online "servers" (like Pokecheck) piggy back off of the official WiFi servers. So shutting downt he official servers would in turn shut down ones like Pokecheck.
It would be possible to set up a mock server but that would cost a good amount of cash that I don't think anyone will do.

It's sad to see it go but it's a must really. I'm only really disappointed about the departure of Pokecheck. Really useful website.

PokeCheck will still be fully funtional and operational. You just will no longer be able to connect via GTS spoofing. Uploading and downloading pkm files to/from computers will still work as well as the legality checker.
