As im sure you have noticed in the anime, there are many many pokemon that could be an easy capture for anyone, but no one usually seems to attempt to catch it.

Like in every episode in a forest, you see a whoel bunch of wild, weak but good for starting, pokemon.

Also, in the episode "Reversing the Charges", Team Rocket comes across an injured, almost fainted Scyther, and only talk to it.

in old eps where ash was looking for pokemon to catch he said all i see around here are sperrow, easy catch but he didnt even try to catch one xD think it was char ep

Thats because he had Pidgey/Pidgeotto/Pidgeot he didnt want a Spearow!

Pretty much any pokemon they help could potentially join the gang. And, at least in Kanto, Ash wasn't putting much effort into "cathin' them all", was he?

When ash came across a skarmony in the episode when ash caught torkoal, he should have nabbed skarmory.

when they all went to Mirage island they made friends with the Wynaut, and they are usually friends with their pokemon before they 'catch' them, so i was surprised

Why the heck would he need to complete the Zukan, if in the anime continuity the Zukan already has all the information of all the Pokemon up to that point?

Ash should've caught Larvitar I mean it was basically his he didn't have to bring it home.

but then hed be like team rocket, but if THEY found that larvatar egg, im sure theyd have a nice tyranitar by now
