The ability of adaptability?

In D/P, Eevee and Porygon-Z have got a new ability, Adaptability. It states that if the Pokémon uses an attack that has the same type as it, then the move's power is increased, but isn't that the same as a STAB-based move? Does it add to STAB? Does Eevee even change its type from Normal?

Yes it is the same as a STAB move, so you get 2 STABs with Adaptability.
