The Advanced Battle intro changes

I have noticed that the 'new dub titles' thread was getting off topic, and sorry, I kinda hepled in that... so I have decided to make a thread about it!
the changes to the intro were:
They deleted Manene from the TR scene, as well as Manyula so now it dosen't make sense
they deleted the mew and rukario scene and replaced it with a scene of Pikachu using Iron tail in the night time.

I do not know why these changes were made, most probably because 4kids got in trouble with NOA for revealing pokemon that haven't been revealed in america yet (even though NOM in the UK revealed them. And here we can discuss the change..

...I never saw that happen in Canada (where I live).

This thread is kinda pointless due to the fact that this has all been cleared up in the dub titles thread.

But~

No more Manene in the intro[/devistated]

Thank you, SPPf! :)

Well those things are still in the dub in America
But they're 5+ episodes ahead of us.

That's awesome they replaced them, I love the Iron Tail Scene and it ****** me off that they used so many spoilers in the theme. I'll see when the US eventually starts airing episodes faster!!

It'll be interesting to see if 4Kids attaches the revised opening to all the Advanced Battle episodes that have aired so far. I guess we'll find out on Friday, when the "Solid as a Solrock" reruns in the U.S.

That was the point, so it doesn't go off-topic in that thread.

Well done on the changes, except for TR looking over at nothing. There could be at least something flying past. I wouldn't even care if it was Superman flying past them, at least they're looking at nothing.

That's rather humorous. Though it's still incredibly dimwitted on their behalf to mix in the Battle Frontier opening with Symphonic Medley considering the "season" doesn't even get into the Battle Frontier yet.

It looks so weird with them just looking at nothing...

they should have mixed glory days and symphotic melody, not BF and SM

Advanced Battle will include the first twelve episodes of the Battle Frontier saga. So while 4Kids is jumping the gun, the inclusion of Battle Frontier isn't *completely* senseless.

Hm. I see. It is actually completely senseless to do this, however. By the time they reach the end of the English dub season, they'll either have to wait for a new opening to be made or ask an opening be made for them like they did in Jouto. It's completely jumping the gun to have all of Frontier Brains appearing one after another in the US opening and only show probably one Frontier battle. Most likely, they'll ditch that sequence once a new season comes up as they use a different opening, making it rather pointless.

..You'd figure it'd make more sense and save up time and money just using the original openings or at least translating them. Or use their own versions of the songs, like they were originally doing with One Piece (and what FUNimation did with Dragon Ball's opening).

But that would mean they'd have to have an opening that wasn't either A)Rock/Pop, B)Rap, or C)Cheesy, Horrible Rock. :O And since good music is obviously not allowed in their anime openings...

And Symphonic Medley would make them go "Wha...an opening song that only has HALF of it with words? And the background music is pretty instrumental stuff with no hint of rock, pop, or rap? And it's more than THIRTY SECONDS LONG? Yegads, that'll scare the kids away from watching! THE RATINGS WILL DIE!" :p

And of course, 4Kids seems to lack a skill known as "common sense". Which is why they had the 4th gen Pokes in the intro in the first place. D:

It's very likely that the Japanese opening will change between now and next September, when the new English season starts. And even if they don't, there's still PLENTY of unused footage from Symphonic Medley and Battle Frontier that they could use to make a brand new opening.

It's completely jumping the gun to have all of Frontier Brains appearing one after another in the US opening and only show probably one Frontier battle.

Well, they're only showing one unshadowed Frontier Brain (Noland), who just HAPPENS to be the one Frontier Brain we'll see this season.

There was an interview with Al Kahn that asked why they used a rap opening for One Piece instead of the We Are dub that was shown at conventions, and you know what he said? He said that he thought that the rap they made up was better.

And that's the unfortunate truth. 4Kids thinks that their musicians are better than the Japanese musicians.

I'm pretty sure Sensei knows that, considering he has brought up that part of the interview several times now. And yes, it is very, very sad. Anime's getting raped just because Al has personal preferences (that, and other reasons), and he's too damn pig-headed to admit that Japanese are capable of making good music.

Concerning the next dub opening, as Dogasu said, there will likely be a new opening in Japan by then. Not only that, but the current opening in Japan is updating its scenes, and I do believe 4kids has used clips from a single Japanese opening in two consecutive dub openings (I think a scene from OK! was in the Johto Champions opening, and that scene in Mezase Pokemon Master 2000 with Satoshi and Pikachu running up a staircase made it into the Master Quest opening, as well as maybe a couple others).

Hey, do they still have the frontier leaders?

Sure, the only thing that was removed was the 4th gen Pokemon.

The Frontier Brains are in an already released game, Emerald. So they've been debuted in the U.S. since April. And Munchlax was in Dash, and was also in the Deoxys movie. Those have already been "revealed" to U.S. audiences.

Guess Nintendo caught word of 4kids jumping the gun and forced them to remove it. I wonder if Nintendo was ever contacted about 4kids blunder with Arbok/Seviper.
