First off, I'd like to say, Happy Holidays! ^___^
Okay, I got that out of the way. XD I finally have the next chapter up! It was finished about a month ago but I didn't have the chance to edit it. ^^; My apologies for the lateness. ^^;
Anyway, enjoy the next chapter! ^____^
Night came along as her eyes awoke from the moonlight. The stars, bright as always, the dark blue clouds, moving across the sapphire sky. Trees blew with sereneness by the soft wind, crickets chirping, and water flowing with silence; unlike the day where it is noisy. Her eyes fluttered then opened, revealing the dark hue of brown along with a sparkle of light at her pupils.
Her head tilted to the left where she spotted Thomas and Janet sleeping, each in their separate sleeping bags. Thomas’s was a dark green while Janet was a ruby color with pink hearts on it. She then moved her head to the right. A small feathered bird was snoozing soundly. She chuckled at the creature.
He’s dreaming but he can’t remember what are his dreams about, she thought to herself. I wonder if he ever remembered any of them. Probably not.
At last, she looked over to her friend, Prince Atam. He snored a bit as he was tossing, after, turning his body at an evenly pace, repeating a couple of words every few minutes. Yoshi stared at him for a short period of time until she finally started to look at the stars.
She couldn’t help but to stare at it, seeing the beauty of the night. The girl was now at a sitting position, with her elbows on top of her knees. The moon could not be seen, as she made an inference that the clouds covered it. Millions of stars performed vivaciously as she gleamed at them all, wondering the majority of reasons of how their life is.
She sighed with ease at the wondrous speculation she was provided. The serene evening started to make her feel sleepy once again. The young woman covered her mouth as she yawned, closing her eyes a bit.
“I guess you haven’t looked at them in a while huh?” a voice asked as her eyes immediately opened.
“Atam?” Yoshi questioned as she jerked her body, looking at the directions to where the voice came.
“You think about him a lot, don’t you?” he asked.
“Oh, Thomas.” Yoshi sighed with relief as put her right hand over her chest. “You startled me there.”
He apologized as she accepted it with a smile. Thomas then took a look at the stars then turned to Yoshi.
“They sure are something.” Thomas concluded as he broke the silence.
“Yeah, I haven’t seen them like this in a long time.”
“Like I said, you like to stare at stars and at him too.”
Yoshi suddenly felt confused. She demanded to know who she was thinking about as her friend rolled his eyes, pointing to the sleeping Atam. Yoshi sweatdropped as she smiled shyly. Thomas grinned.
“You stare at Janet all the time.” Yoshi muttered, attempting to make a comeback.
“So? She’s my girlfriend, why wouldn’t I stare at her?” Thomas interrogated as he shrugged.
His friend felt the astonishment of the words he spoke.
“Girlfriend? You mean?”
He nodded as he turned to stare at her. Yoshi felt shocked for a moment but then unleashed a broad smile.
“We got together, a while before we met up with Tyra and Malcin. We went to all kinds of places, from hot springs to mountains; we loved it all. After, I fell in love with her and she was in love with me so…you get it.” Thomas answered as he caressed Janet’s forehead sweetly.
“That’s sweet.” Yoshi commented. “Love is a wonderful thing to experience.”
Thomas nodded but then glanced back at Yoshi.
“You have been in love, right?”
…
“Right?”
“Well…yeah.” Yoshi stated as she blushed a bit.
Thomas gave her a scheming look, with his grin. Yoshi was taken aback a bit, then closed her eyes for a few seconds.
“That’s how it all begins,” Thomas told.
With the smile of friendship, Thomas told himself with his thoughts.
Yoshi was once again bewildered what her friend meant but then shrugged it off. She then went back to sleep after saying good night. The crickets then took over by chirping a new song, this time making any soul fall asleep until the next morning rose.
~*~*~*~
“You finally got up.” a voice stated as Yoshi opened her eyes. Her view was a blur at first but then focused to see a familiar face. “Boo!”
“YIPES!” Yoshi shrieked, now completely awake. Prince Atam laughed as she narrowed her eyes with nuisance. In addition, she slapped him hard on his left cheek.
“Ow!” the prince yelped as he rubbed his cheek. “Why can’t you just take a joke and smile for once instead of being gloomy all the time?”
“Because you ruin my mornings!” Yoshi snapped.
“Now, now kids.” Mix said, trying to settle things.
Every morning was an argument for Yoshi and Prince Atam.
“You’re so serious nowadays…”
“Your voice annoys me!”
“Really? It annoys you? I’ll just keep on talking.” he snickered.
“You go ahead and try!” Yoshi snapped. “I’ll be sure to put duct tape on that mouth!”
“Try me!”
“In fact, I will!”
The others sat there, eating breakfast, watching the battle, their heads turning left then right. Yoshi grabbed duct tape from her backpack, therefore, started to chase her immature friend. He stuck out his tongue as she ran after him.
“Na na na na na na! You can’t catch me!” Prince Atam snickered as he put his right hand under his eye and made a face.
“Get back here!” Yoshi yelled as she continued to run after him.
He suddenly stopped for a moment then slapped his bottom playfully.
“Slowpoke!”
Mix, Thomas, and Janet covered their mouths to avoid laughter while Yoshi made a face.
“Gee, you’re so slow! Did you gain weight?” he asked with an evil grin.
“SHUT UP!” Yoshi yelled.
“Better run more to burn that fat!” Prince Atam teased.
Yoshi huffed various sighs with anger increasing. Her friends imagined two horns of a raging bull on Yoshi’s head. She turned red with anger along with determination. Prince Atam sweatdropped as she charged at him. He flinched with fear as she grabbed him, approached the closest tree nearby, tied him, lastly, put duct tape over his mouth. Everybody else stared with stupidity and amazement. Yoshi sat on a long brown log then grabbed food.
“Ah, now I can eat breakfast in peace.” Yoshi uttered with a calm voice. She took a bite from the soft sandwich.
Yikes! The three thought in their heads. Don’t want to make her angry…
Just then, the wind started to blow in a different direction that startled the five. It raised a few leaves then moved them along with the wind. It suddenly stopped as the leaves fell to the ground.
“What happened?” Janet questioned with surprise in her tone of voice.
“I don’t know.” Thomas answered. “But it sounds familiar...”
“Something’s coming,” Mix told his friends, “We better go.”
His friends were now confused by Mix’s statement. They all stared at each other then at Mix with caution.
“Is something bad going to happen, Mix?” Yoshi interrogated.
Before Mix could reply to Yoshi’s question, the bushes started to shake. They rattled to catch everyone’s attention as a small animal appeared from the green, healthy bushes. Her shape was in the form of a bird. She looked similar to Mix except that the feathers at the left part of her face curved like a crescent. The bird’s feathers were green with strokes of orange. Her tail was long, often making the shape of a half moon. As a result, she then smiled, staring straight at Mix.
“What’s the matter, Mix? Don’t want them to see me?” she asked with sangfroid.
Janet squealed with glee. “Aww! Suki, it‘s you! Let me give you a hug!” Janet exclaimed as she ran to the creature and hugged it tight. Unlike Mix, the bird seemed to enjoy the cuddles.
“Thanks Janet, I haven’t received a compliment like that in a long time!” she replied with a grin.
“Hey Suki,” Thomas greeted as he pet the bird with his hands.
“It‘s been a while since I saw you both last!” she responded. Janet then released the bird. She then put her wings on her body. “Hey there, Mix. Long time, no see.”
“Wait a second!” Mix cried as his wing pointed to his two friends. “How do you both know Suki?”
“We‘ve met before.” Janet replied.
“Why, what’s the matter Mix?” Suki cooed. “You don’t want your friends to get to know me?”
“Can’t you just leave?” Mix asked with annoyance.
“No, I don’t feel like it. I haven’t even introduced myself to your other companions!”
“Then, who are you?” Yoshi questioned.
“The name’s Suki and you all are…?”
Prince Atam struggled to talk but couldn’t since he muffed sounds. Suki chuckled at him.
“Now, who on earth put you there? A boy doesn’t stick to a tree!” Suki stated as she flew over to him, took off the duct tape, then untied him in seconds. “That’s more like it.”
“Thanks and I’m Atam, the prince of Alcan!”
“You? The prince of Alcan?’” Suki asked in disbelief. “I could have sworn there were more of you…”
“Well, my brothers are at Alcan.” Prince Atam responded as he placed his hand behind his head nervously.
“Oh I see, a pleasure to meet you.” Suki greeted. She then turned to Yoshi, who stared at the bird with deep thought. “You look kind of familiar in some way but I just can’t figure it out.”
“That’s Yoshi, smart one.” Mix inveighed with sarcasm.
“Yoshi?” Suki asked as she took great thought. Yoshi stared at the bird with confusion. After a minute, Yoshi made a reply.
“Yes, I am Yoshi. But I‘ve never seen you before.”
“You don’t remember me at all?” Suki questioned with amazement as she started to stroll around. “I guess that makes sense since you were a baby when I first saw you…”
“What? Then you must know-”
Suki nodded happily. “Yes, I am familiarized with your parents. You look a lot like your parents combined!”
“How do you know Yoshi’s parents?” Prince Atam interrogated.
“Mix and I knew them since they were about your age.” Suki answered.
“You what?! Mix!” Yoshi cried. “How come you didn’t tell me that?!” she fumed at the powerless bird.
Mix stuttered again as he sweatdropped. Suki smirked, therefore having the four wonder.
“I suppose you aren’t aware of our little secret.” Suki stated as she closed her green eyes.
“Were you both rivals or something?” Thomas asked.
Suki laughed. “Oh no, we weren’t just rivals. Why, we’re related.”
“Suki!” Mix cried with agony, “Did you have to say that…?” he muttered.
Everyone had complete attention towards the two birds. Something was odd about them as the four inferred.
“How are you both related?” Yoshi questioned with wonder in her tone.
In a matter of seconds, the girls had a change of attitude. Their eyes gleamed with happiness.
“You are so cute!” Janet squealed.
“You are cuter than Mix!” Yoshi added.
“Hey!” Mix cried.
“Super cute!”
“We love you!” the girls cried with joy as they ran to Suki. The two embraced the bird as she cooed with delight. Mix sank with gloom. The boys smirked. Mix had his mouth down to the ground, astonished that they would hug another bird. Prince Atam stared at the jealous bird and grinned.
All right, time for revenge!
“Mix, the girls just ditched you.” Prince Atam spoke with a snicker.
“Shut up, stupid boy.”
“I guess I was wrong by my statement before…” Thomas spoke with awe.
“I like her. She doesn’t make fun of me,” Prince Atam admitted.
“Me too. She’s very powerful.” Thomas added.
Suki heard the compliments, then immediately went straight for them. Her emerald eyes turned into bright sparkles.
“Do you really think so? Thank you so much!”
Mix narrowed his blue eyes. First, the girls and now the boys? This was going too far. I get it…
“Stop giving her compliments. Her ego goes that much higher by you say things like that.”
No one paid attention as everyone surrounded Suki with hearts in their eyes.
“Suki, we love you!” everyone cried with glee.
Mix felt the steam of anger that surrounded his head.
“Cut it out, Suki! I know you can control people sometimes but not right now!” Mix yelled.
“But I’m having too much fun!” Suki replied with a huge grin.
“That doesn’t mean you have to control them!” Mix protested.
“But I haven’t done this in a while! The last time…hmm, when was the last time?” Suki asked herself. “Wait, I’ll remember soon…”
“Stop it!” Mix interrupted. “We don‘t have time for this!”
The wondrous bird ignored Mix’s statement. She thought more about the situation until a light bulb popped.
“I remember now! I once controlled Yoshi about…three years ago.”
“You what?!” he asked in disbelief.
“That was very fun to do. I made her say unusual things to her crush!” Suki answered with a wink.
Her crush? Does she mean…?
“Wait, when did you do that?”
“All I can recall is that the two were in a carriage alone. I thought it was the perfect time to have some fun!”
“You know, Yoshi isn’t your average girl.” Mix exhorted. “She’ll massacre you if she finds out.”
Yoshi’s worst than her two parents combined with endless arguments…Mix thought.
You know, I can read your mind if I want to.
I know that so cut it out!!!
Suki giggled. “I enjoy myself so much with my powers.”
“Yeah, soon you won’t have them if you keep that up!”
“All right, I had my fun. I’ll stop controlling them. You sure suck the fun out of everything nowadays. You act as if you were their own mother.”
“Quiet and get them back to themselves this instant!”
“Fun sucker.”
“Stop it!”
Suki giggled as she continued to nag around the annoyed bird.
~*~*~*~
“So wait, you have different powers than Mix?” Janet asked.
“True, but mine include addendum powers.”
Thomas questioned once again whether the two were related. Mix lowered his head. The others put their heads towards Suki, giving their full attention.
“That’s right. I’m his older sister! By one year!” Suki revealed as she stuck out her tongue at her younger brother.
“Yeah, yeah…whatever,” Mix grumbled as he took a look at his friends. The four were stuck in their thoughts. Mix inferred that they were saying something about him.
No way, they’re related! No wonder Mix wanted her to scram, Prince Atam though to himself.
I had no idea that Mix had a sister. I’ll hit him after for not telling me about that and my parents! Yoshi cried in her thoughts.
Whoa, what a story. Mix, a younger brother? I’m shocked. That explains things… Thomas thought in his mind.
That’s too cute! Now I can give hugs to Mix and Suki! Janet thought with excitement.
The two birds waited until each were done with their reaction thoughts.
“So, which one of you are better in power?” Prince Atam asked.
“That’s right Mix! We haven’t fought each other in a long time since you came here.” Suki told.
“I bet I’ll beat you.” Mix spoke with determination.
“Really, Mix? I thought I was better!” Suki scoffed.
“Maybe you should take a look in the mirror!”
Suki laughed. “You and your little insults. They do nothing to harm me. If you really want to show which one of us is best, let’s find out.”
“All right, I’ll show you what powers I have!”
Mix versus Suki? I wonder what other kinds of powers Suki possesses, Yoshi thought.
If Mix loses, I’ll be sure to bother him forever! Prince Atam thought with an enormous grin, then tightened his fist.
The four sat down on a long log. Janet was next to Thomas and Prince Atam. They decided to watch the two opposing siblings inside the confusing forest while Yoshi was to be the Referee of the match.
Bird cawed and the leaves fell with grace. The true colors of autumn was in the air. Mix stood in front of a massive tree. His determined eyes were ready for action as he moved his feet from left to right meticulously. Suki however, stood with poise with her green eyes gleaming with power. Her side feathers were blown by the soft wind, covering her face a bit.
Yoshi stood across from her human friends, her shoes digging into the soothing dirt, and her hair flowing in different directions. As Referee, she would have to restrain the two if the match got far too violent or when one has given up.
“So, who do you think is most powerful?” Janet questioned as she looked at Thomas.
“I’m not sure but Suki might have the advantage since she’s older and maybe has more experience. Then again, Mix proved to be very powerful as well.” Thomas replied, trying to think of a logical explanation.
Janet nodded in agreement. “I guess either way, they both must have similar powers.” Janet observed.
“Hey Mix!” Prince Atam called. “You better lose so I can make fun of you!”
Mix wasted no time to launch a laser from his angry, blue eyes. The laser almost hit the stubborn prince as Yoshi sweatdropped.
“Mix, don’t go attacking Atam! You’re wasting your energy on him!” Yoshi scolded as she placed her hands on her hips.
“Yeah, listen to Yoshi and¾hey!” the prince cried.
Thomas and Janet sweatdropped more at their stubborn but dense friend. Mix then nodded to Yoshi as she smiled. “Begin the match!”
“Interesting, little brother.” Suki stated as she studied Mix’s ability. “A new power, eh? Well, allow me to demonstrate mine!”
She then unleashed a powerful wind that created a great change. Everyone looked up to the sky as, all of a sudden, the clouds converted into a dark hue. They all moved quickly as the sky went from a cerulean blue to a midnight blue. A stroke of thunder was heard. Mix was astonished by the great transmute.
Wow, that’s powerful. Did Suki just control the weather? Yoshi thought to herself.
“Yup, I can control the weather, Yoshi, in case you were wondering.” Suki replied with poise.
“Huh? Did you just..?” Yoshi interrogated as she pointed to Suki with confusion.
Suki nodded. “When I have the urge to do so though.”
Mix saw this as an opportunity to attack. He then started to morph. Suki watched as he transformed into an amorphous figure. Her eyes were amazed how the formless animal turned into giant bird, screeching at her. His form was now different. Instead of the tiny yellow bird, he was now a golden giant that looked fierce. His tail was now a dark violet hue. The only thing that remained constant was his eyes, which were as blue as winter water. He screeched at his smaller sister.
“Afraid now?” he threatened, hoping that could make her lose her confidence.
Suki shook her head then chuckled to herself. “That’s exactly what I wanted you to do.”
Suki’s green eyes turned into a bright and glaring white. Her body began to float into the dark sky with sparkles surrounding her. The small, yet graceful bird then made rain fall from the sky with just a stare at the clouds. Tiny drops of water precipitated onto the forest and fell on Thomas’s face first. His expression was startled as he blinked twice before noticing it was rain.
In just a few seconds, heavy rain fell onto everything. Plants were wet and slippery; the ground muddy and soggy. Yoshi raised her foot from the firm ground to show that they were turning darker from the mud. Mix was soaked by the powerful water. He quickly glanced at his friends where he spotted them, wet by the rain. Suki smirked.
“See, didn’t I tell you I am best in combat?”
“This is just the beginning Suki,” Mix told with determination. “Don’t get too confident. I’ll take that smirk off your face.”
“You go ahead and attempt to do so, dear sweet brother.” Suki replied in a convinced posture.
She then smiled at everyone as the bird stared at the clouds again, making them stronger. Rain fell until it slowly turned into hail. Everyone moved away further as they were now under the tree.
The brunette was concerned to see Mix like that. Thomas was worried himself as he took Janet in his arms, her head into his chest. Janet was blushing furiously as Thomas put his hand on her head, assuring her that it was just a match. She looked up and smiled sweetly with her eyes gleaming. Thomas smiled back, blushing a bit that they were catching attention by their friends. Prince Atam stared at the couple with confusion. He howled at them, having them to blush more while Yoshi focused on the two siblings.
I hope they don’t get hurt, she thought to herself, having to forget that Suki can foresee her mind easily.
Mix panted as his body fell to the ground violently. He struggled to lift himself up as the hail continued to fall onto his body. Yoshi watched her friend with concern.
“Had enough yet, younger brother?” Suki questioned as she revolved around him as if the planets moved around the sun.
“It’s not over yet,” Mix stated to himself.
“Is that so?” Suki interrogated with astonishment since her brother would not give up. “Then you leave me no choice.”
Yoshi couldn’t take it. She called out his name as she tried to run to him. Prince Atam grabbed Yoshi, restraining her to be struck by the hard and icy hail. The teenager demanded to let go but her friend was stubborn.
“Let me go Atam! He had enough!” Yoshi cried, disentangling herself from her friend.
“Yoshi!” her friends cried.
She ran to the field with speed as the icy hail slowed her down.
“Yoshi, what in the world are you doing?!” Mix yelled as she came in the middle of the two opposing forces. “I’m fi-”
“Stop the match! It’s been determined who won.” Yoshi stated as the hail fell onto her head. She closed her eyes to try to avoid the pain.
“What?!” Mix shrieked. “But Yoshi!”
“She’s right.” Suki agreed.
Her body moved away from the two as she stared once more at the sky. The hail slowly stopped as it turned back into sprinkles. Mix rose to the sky with defeat in his mind, transforming back into his regular shape and form. Thomas, Janet, and Prince Atam then ran up to Mix, who was badly injured. Bruises and some drops of blood were over his delicate body. Janet’s eyes turned into tears.
“Oh Mix…” Janet cried softly, “You worried me there!” she then moved him into her arms and embraced the small bird tight.
The bird said nothing, ashamed of his loss.
“Hey Mix, I’m glad you’re okay.” Prince Atam spoke with a calm smile.
Mix nodded.
“It’s a good thing you stopped the match, Yoshi. Mix could have been severely injured.” Suki observed.
“Yeah,” Yoshi agreed.
“I’m sorry for that fight. I didn’t think I would go so hard on him.”
Mix’s friends accepted the apology. But now Mix was injured greatly. Suki brightened, sure that it would catch attention.
“Though I do have the power to make a soul well again.” she stated with ease.
“Really?” Yoshi asked. “Could you do that for him?”
“No, I don’t want her help.” Mix replied coldly,
Suki was aware of how stubborn her younger brother was.
“Don’t be such a sourpuss, dear brother. It was a friendly…er, wrong term. I meant to say it was an exquisite match.” Suki told.
Mix continued to look down at the ground, angry.
“Really, you have improved since I saw you last.” Suki complimented. “Once you acquire more powers, you could possibly defeat me in a future match.”
“She’s right Mix,” Yoshi agreed. “Suki’s just a year older than you so she had the advantage there, due to having more powers.”
“Don’t be sad Mix, think of it as more training.” Thomas added.
The small, yellow bird huffed a sigh as his blue eyes glanced at his sister. She grinned with happiness as her eyes turned pink. A sweet aroma filled the environment. Flowers bloomed with beauty as the energy surrounded Mix. Janet let go of the bird as the scares started to drift away. His eyes closed as the pink energy filled the bird.
The four stared with awe, not aware that Suki had such skill. She put him down on the ground firmly as his eyes opened, revealing the bright hue of blue. His friends laughed with glee as they all hugged him. Mix’s eyes felt like he were about to burst again, struggling to be free. Suki smiled as everyone let go.
“Thanks Suki.” Mix thanked.
“You are most certainly welcome.” Suki replied as she nodded. “I would exhort you to ameliorate yourself more. I suggest training would be best.”
“Yeah, yeah. Next time I’ll be even more stronger!”
“We shall see, little brother.” Suki said, taking a sudden glance at the sky. “Well, I should get going.”
“What?” Janet cried. “But you just got here Suki! Why are you leaving so fast again?”
Suki gleamed at the bright cerulean sky, feeling the soft wind. Her eyes closed with sereneness.
“Someone such as myself has more things to take care of.” Suki stated. “Like the environment, for instance. After the genocide occurred, I was sent to keep guard that something like that won’t ever happen again.”
“Then…are you really part of the legend?” Thomas asked.
“The situation has something to do with myself but not entirely.”
Moments passed as Suki looked straight into the eyes of everyone.
“I hope you all take care of yourselves. May your days be merry and bright,” Suki told with a calm smile.
“Thanks Suki.” the humans spoke.
Suki nodded with glee. “As for you Mix, I expect better form you next time.”
Mix agreed by bobbing his head. “And so, we shall all meet again! So long!”
Suki floated into the sky, her wings spreading. Everyone but Mix waved at her, who simply stared at his older sister. Suki smiled with glee as she disappeared into sparkles. They fell on everyone’s faces.
Just you wait and see, Suki. I’ll get better and beat you next time.
I’ll be looking forward to the next match.
Will you stay out of my head?!
~~~
I appear to like Suki a lot...probably since I get to use my vocabulary words with her. XD I love it when she controls others and drives Mix crazy. XD I drive my younger siblings crazy too. ^___^
Suki beat Mix! I bet he hates me for doing that. XD Gotta love the part when Yoshi "attacks" Atam. XDDD I always wanted to do that to someone and Yoshi was the perfect character to do that. XD
I also included a Christmas line throughout the chapter. ^_^
I hope all of you have splendid holidays and have enjoyed this chapter! All questions, comments, and suggestions are always welcomed!
Okay, I got that out of the way. XD I finally have the next chapter up! It was finished about a month ago but I didn't have the chance to edit it. ^^; My apologies for the lateness. ^^;
Yikes! The three thought in their heads. Don’t want to make her angry…
Just then, the wind started to blow in a different direction that startled the five. It raised a few leaves then moved them along with the wind. It suddenly stopped as the leaves fell to the ground.
“What happened?” Janet questioned with surprise in her tone of voice.
“I don’t know.” Thomas answered. “But it sounds familiar...”
“Something’s coming,” Mix told his friends, “We better go.”
His friends were now confused by Mix’s statement. They all stared at each other then at Mix with caution.
“Is something bad going to happen, Mix?” Yoshi interrogated.
Before Mix could reply to Yoshi’s question, the bushes started to shake. They rattled to catch everyone’s attention as a small animal appeared from the green, healthy bushes. Her shape was in the form of a bird. She looked similar to Mix except that the feathers at the left part of her face curved like a crescent. The bird’s feathers were green with strokes of orange. Her tail was long, often making the shape of a half moon. As a result, she then smiled, staring straight at Mix.
“What’s the matter, Mix? Don’t want them to see me?” she asked with sangfroid.
Janet squealed with glee. “Aww! Suki, it‘s you! Let me give you a hug!” Janet exclaimed as she ran to the creature and hugged it tight. Unlike Mix, the bird seemed to enjoy the cuddles.
“Thanks Janet, I haven’t received a compliment like that in a long time!” she replied with a grin.
“Hey Suki,” Thomas greeted as he pet the bird with his hands.
“It‘s been a while since I saw you both last!” she responded. Janet then released the bird. She then put her wings on her body. “Hey there, Mix. Long time, no see.”
“Wait a second!” Mix cried as his wing pointed to his two friends. “How do you both know Suki?”
“We‘ve met before.” Janet replied.
“Why, what’s the matter Mix?” Suki cooed. “You don’t want your friends to get to know me?”
“Can’t you just leave?” Mix asked with annoyance.
“No, I don’t feel like it. I haven’t even introduced myself to your other companions!”
“Then, who are you?” Yoshi questioned.
“The name’s Suki and you all are…?”
Prince Atam struggled to talk but couldn’t since he muffed sounds. Suki chuckled at him.
“Now, who on earth put you there? A boy doesn’t stick to a tree!” Suki stated as she flew over to him, took off the duct tape, then untied him in seconds. “That’s more like it.”
“Thanks and I’m Atam, the prince of Alcan!”
“You? The prince of Alcan?’” Suki asked in disbelief. “I could have sworn there were more of you…”
“Well, my brothers are at Alcan.” Prince Atam responded as he placed his hand behind his head nervously.
“Oh I see, a pleasure to meet you.” Suki greeted. She then turned to Yoshi, who stared at the bird with deep thought. “You look kind of familiar in some way but I just can’t figure it out.”
“That’s Yoshi, smart one.” Mix inveighed with sarcasm.
“Yoshi?” Suki asked as she took great thought. Yoshi stared at the bird with confusion. After a minute, Yoshi made a reply.
“Yes, I am Yoshi. But I‘ve never seen you before.”
“You don’t remember me at all?” Suki questioned with amazement as she started to stroll around. “I guess that makes sense since you were a baby when I first saw you…”
“What? Then you must know-”
Suki nodded happily. “Yes, I am familiarized with your parents. You look a lot like your parents combined!”
“How do you know Yoshi’s parents?” Prince Atam interrogated.
“Mix and I knew them since they were about your age.” Suki answered.
“You what?! Mix!” Yoshi cried. “How come you didn’t tell me that?!” she fumed at the powerless bird.
Mix stuttered again as he sweatdropped. Suki smirked, therefore having the four wonder.
“I suppose you aren’t aware of our little secret.” Suki stated as she closed her green eyes.
“Were you both rivals or something?” Thomas asked.
Suki laughed. “Oh no, we weren’t just rivals. Why, we’re related.”
“Suki!” Mix cried with agony, “Did you have to say that…?” he muttered.
Everyone had complete attention towards the two birds. Something was odd about them as the four inferred.
“How are you both related?” Yoshi questioned with wonder in her tone.
In a matter of seconds, the girls had a change of attitude. Their eyes gleamed with happiness.
“You are so cute!” Janet squealed.
“You are cuter than Mix!” Yoshi added.
“Hey!” Mix cried.
“Super cute!”
“We love you!” the girls cried with joy as they ran to Suki. The two embraced the bird as she cooed with delight. Mix sank with gloom. The boys smirked. Mix had his mouth down to the ground, astonished that they would hug another bird. Prince Atam stared at the jealous bird and grinned.
All right, time for revenge!
“Mix, the girls just ditched you.” Prince Atam spoke with a snicker.
“Shut up, stupid boy.”
“I guess I was wrong by my statement before…” Thomas spoke with awe.
“I like her. She doesn’t make fun of me,” Prince Atam admitted.
“Me too. She’s very powerful.” Thomas added.
Suki heard the compliments, then immediately went straight for them. Her emerald eyes turned into bright sparkles.
“Do you really think so? Thank you so much!”
Mix narrowed his blue eyes. First, the girls and now the boys? This was going too far. I get it…
“Stop giving her compliments. Her ego goes that much higher by you say things like that.”
No one paid attention as everyone surrounded Suki with hearts in their eyes.
“Suki, we love you!” everyone cried with glee.
Mix felt the steam of anger that surrounded his head.
“Cut it out, Suki! I know you can control people sometimes but not right now!” Mix yelled.
“But I’m having too much fun!” Suki replied with a huge grin.
“That doesn’t mean you have to control them!” Mix protested.
“But I haven’t done this in a while! The last time…hmm, when was the last time?” Suki asked herself. “Wait, I’ll remember soon…”
“Stop it!” Mix interrupted. “We don‘t have time for this!”
The wondrous bird ignored Mix’s statement. She thought more about the situation until a light bulb popped.
“I remember now! I once controlled Yoshi about…three years ago.”
“You what?!” he asked in disbelief.
“That was very fun to do. I made her say unusual things to her crush!” Suki answered with a wink.
Her crush? Does she mean…?
“Wait, when did you do that?”
“All I can recall is that the two were in a carriage alone. I thought it was the perfect time to have some fun!”
“You know, Yoshi isn’t your average girl.” Mix exhorted. “She’ll massacre you if she finds out.”
Yoshi’s worst than her two parents combined with endless arguments…Mix thought.
You know, I can read your mind if I want to.
I know that so cut it out!!!
Suki giggled. “I enjoy myself so much with my powers.”
“Yeah, soon you won’t have them if you keep that up!”
“All right, I had my fun. I’ll stop controlling them. You sure suck the fun out of everything nowadays. You act as if you were their own mother.”
“Quiet and get them back to themselves this instant!”
“Fun sucker.”
“Stop it!”
Suki giggled as she continued to nag around the annoyed bird.
~*~*~*~
“So wait, you have different powers than Mix?” Janet asked.
“True, but mine include addendum powers.”
Thomas questioned once again whether the two were related. Mix lowered his head. The others put their heads towards Suki, giving their full attention.
“That’s right. I’m his older sister! By one year!” Suki revealed as she stuck out her tongue at her younger brother.
“Yeah, yeah…whatever,” Mix grumbled as he took a look at his friends. The four were stuck in their thoughts. Mix inferred that they were saying something about him.
No way, they’re related! No wonder Mix wanted her to scram, Prince Atam though to himself.
I had no idea that Mix had a sister. I’ll hit him after for not telling me about that and my parents! Yoshi cried in her thoughts.
Whoa, what a story. Mix, a younger brother? I’m shocked. That explains things… Thomas thought in his mind.
That’s too cute! Now I can give hugs to Mix and Suki! Janet thought with excitement.
The two birds waited until each were done with their reaction thoughts.
“So, which one of you are better in power?” Prince Atam asked.
“That’s right Mix! We haven’t fought each other in a long time since you came here.” Suki told.
“I bet I’ll beat you.” Mix spoke with determination.
“Really, Mix? I thought I was better!” Suki scoffed.
“Maybe you should take a look in the mirror!”
Suki laughed. “You and your little insults. They do nothing to harm me. If you really want to show which one of us is best, let’s find out.”
“All right, I’ll show you what powers I have!”
Mix versus Suki? I wonder what other kinds of powers Suki possesses, Yoshi thought.
If Mix loses, I’ll be sure to bother him forever! Prince Atam thought with an enormous grin, then tightened his fist.
The four sat down on a long log. Janet was next to Thomas and Prince Atam. They decided to watch the two opposing siblings inside the confusing forest while Yoshi was to be the Referee of the match.
Bird cawed and the leaves fell with grace. The true colors of autumn was in the air. Mix stood in front of a massive tree. His determined eyes were ready for action as he moved his feet from left to right meticulously. Suki however, stood with poise with her green eyes gleaming with power. Her side feathers were blown by the soft wind, covering her face a bit.
Yoshi stood across from her human friends, her shoes digging into the soothing dirt, and her hair flowing in different directions. As Referee, she would have to restrain the two if the match got far too violent or when one has given up.
“So, who do you think is most powerful?” Janet questioned as she looked at Thomas.
“I’m not sure but Suki might have the advantage since she’s older and maybe has more experience. Then again, Mix proved to be very powerful as well.” Thomas replied, trying to think of a logical explanation.
Janet nodded in agreement. “I guess either way, they both must have similar powers.” Janet observed.
“Hey Mix!” Prince Atam called. “You better lose so I can make fun of you!”
Mix wasted no time to launch a laser from his angry, blue eyes. The laser almost hit the stubborn prince as Yoshi sweatdropped.
“Mix, don’t go attacking Atam! You’re wasting your energy on him!” Yoshi scolded as she placed her hands on her hips.
“Yeah, listen to Yoshi and¾hey!” the prince cried.
Thomas and Janet sweatdropped more at their stubborn but dense friend. Mix then nodded to Yoshi as she smiled. “Begin the match!”
“Interesting, little brother.” Suki stated as she studied Mix’s ability. “A new power, eh? Well, allow me to demonstrate mine!”
She then unleashed a powerful wind that created a great change. Everyone looked up to the sky as, all of a sudden, the clouds converted into a dark hue. They all moved quickly as the sky went from a cerulean blue to a midnight blue. A stroke of thunder was heard. Mix was astonished by the great transmute.
Wow, that’s powerful. Did Suki just control the weather? Yoshi thought to herself.
“Yup, I can control the weather, Yoshi, in case you were wondering.” Suki replied with poise.
“Huh? Did you just..?” Yoshi interrogated as she pointed to Suki with confusion.
Suki nodded. “When I have the urge to do so though.”
Mix saw this as an opportunity to attack. He then started to morph. Suki watched as he transformed into an amorphous figure. Her eyes were amazed how the formless animal turned into giant bird, screeching at her. His form was now different. Instead of the tiny yellow bird, he was now a golden giant that looked fierce. His tail was now a dark violet hue. The only thing that remained constant was his eyes, which were as blue as winter water. He screeched at his smaller sister.
“Afraid now?” he threatened, hoping that could make her lose her confidence.
Suki shook her head then chuckled to herself. “That’s exactly what I wanted you to do.”
Suki’s green eyes turned into a bright and glaring white. Her body began to float into the dark sky with sparkles surrounding her. The small, yet graceful bird then made rain fall from the sky with just a stare at the clouds. Tiny drops of water precipitated onto the forest and fell on Thomas’s face first. His expression was startled as he blinked twice before noticing it was rain.
In just a few seconds, heavy rain fell onto everything. Plants were wet and slippery; the ground muddy and soggy. Yoshi raised her foot from the firm ground to show that they were turning darker from the mud. Mix was soaked by the powerful water. He quickly glanced at his friends where he spotted them, wet by the rain. Suki smirked.
“See, didn’t I tell you I am best in combat?”
“This is just the beginning Suki,” Mix told with determination. “Don’t get too confident. I’ll take that smirk off your face.”
“You go ahead and attempt to do so, dear sweet brother.” Suki replied in a convinced posture.
She then smiled at everyone as the bird stared at the clouds again, making them stronger. Rain fell until it slowly turned into hail. Everyone moved away further as they were now under the tree.
The brunette was concerned to see Mix like that. Thomas was worried himself as he took Janet in his arms, her head into his chest. Janet was blushing furiously as Thomas put his hand on her head, assuring her that it was just a match. She looked up and smiled sweetly with her eyes gleaming. Thomas smiled back, blushing a bit that they were catching attention by their friends. Prince Atam stared at the couple with confusion. He howled at them, having them to blush more while Yoshi focused on the two siblings.
I hope they don’t get hurt, she thought to herself, having to forget that Suki can foresee her mind easily.
Mix panted as his body fell to the ground violently. He struggled to lift himself up as the hail continued to fall onto his body. Yoshi watched her friend with concern.
“Had enough yet, younger brother?” Suki questioned as she revolved around him as if the planets moved around the sun.
“It’s not over yet,” Mix stated to himself.
“Is that so?” Suki interrogated with astonishment since her brother would not give up. “Then you leave me no choice.”
Yoshi couldn’t take it. She called out his name as she tried to run to him. Prince Atam grabbed Yoshi, restraining her to be struck by the hard and icy hail. The teenager demanded to let go but her friend was stubborn.
“Let me go Atam! He had enough!” Yoshi cried, disentangling herself from her friend.
“Yoshi!” her friends cried.
She ran to the field with speed as the icy hail slowed her down.
“Yoshi, what in the world are you doing?!” Mix yelled as she came in the middle of the two opposing forces. “I’m fi-”
“Stop the match! It’s been determined who won.” Yoshi stated as the hail fell onto her head. She closed her eyes to try to avoid the pain.
“What?!” Mix shrieked. “But Yoshi!”
“She’s right.” Suki agreed.
Her body moved away from the two as she stared once more at the sky. The hail slowly stopped as it turned back into sprinkles. Mix rose to the sky with defeat in his mind, transforming back into his regular shape and form. Thomas, Janet, and Prince Atam then ran up to Mix, who was badly injured. Bruises and some drops of blood were over his delicate body. Janet’s eyes turned into tears.
“Oh Mix…” Janet cried softly, “You worried me there!” she then moved him into her arms and embraced the small bird tight.
The bird said nothing, ashamed of his loss.
“Hey Mix, I’m glad you’re okay.” Prince Atam spoke with a calm smile.
Mix nodded.
“It’s a good thing you stopped the match, Yoshi. Mix could have been severely injured.” Suki observed.
“Yeah,” Yoshi agreed.
“I’m sorry for that fight. I didn’t think I would go so hard on him.”
Mix’s friends accepted the apology. But now Mix was injured greatly. Suki brightened, sure that it would catch attention.
“Though I do have the power to make a soul well again.” she stated with ease.
“Really?” Yoshi asked. “Could you do that for him?”
“No, I don’t want her help.” Mix replied coldly,
Suki was aware of how stubborn her younger brother was.
“Don’t be such a sourpuss, dear brother. It was a friendly…er, wrong term. I meant to say it was an exquisite match.” Suki told.
Mix continued to look down at the ground, angry.
“Really, you have improved since I saw you last.” Suki complimented. “Once you acquire more powers, you could possibly defeat me in a future match.”
“She’s right Mix,” Yoshi agreed. “Suki’s just a year older than you so she had the advantage there, due to having more powers.”
“Don’t be sad Mix, think of it as more training.” Thomas added.
The small, yellow bird huffed a sigh as his blue eyes glanced at his sister. She grinned with happiness as her eyes turned pink. A sweet aroma filled the environment. Flowers bloomed with beauty as the energy surrounded Mix. Janet let go of the bird as the scares started to drift away. His eyes closed as the pink energy filled the bird.
The four stared with awe, not aware that Suki had such skill. She put him down on the ground firmly as his eyes opened, revealing the bright hue of blue. His friends laughed with glee as they all hugged him. Mix’s eyes felt like he were about to burst again, struggling to be free. Suki smiled as everyone let go.
“Thanks Suki.” Mix thanked.
“You are most certainly welcome.” Suki replied as she nodded. “I would exhort you to ameliorate yourself more. I suggest training would be best.”
“Yeah, yeah. Next time I’ll be even more stronger!”
“We shall see, little brother.” Suki said, taking a sudden glance at the sky. “Well, I should get going.”
“What?” Janet cried. “But you just got here Suki! Why are you leaving so fast again?”
Suki gleamed at the bright cerulean sky, feeling the soft wind. Her eyes closed with sereneness.
“Someone such as myself has more things to take care of.” Suki stated. “Like the environment, for instance. After the genocide occurred, I was sent to keep guard that something like that won’t ever happen again.”
“Then…are you really part of the legend?” Thomas asked.
“The situation has something to do with myself but not entirely.”
Moments passed as Suki looked straight into the eyes of everyone.
“I hope you all take care of yourselves. May your days be merry and bright,” Suki told with a calm smile.
“Thanks Suki.” the humans spoke.
Suki nodded with glee. “As for you Mix, I expect better form you next time.”
Mix agreed by bobbing his head. “And so, we shall all meet again! So long!”
Suki floated into the sky, her wings spreading. Everyone but Mix waved at her, who simply stared at his older sister. Suki smiled with glee as she disappeared into sparkles. They fell on everyone’s faces.
Just you wait and see, Suki. I’ll get better and beat you next time.
I’ll be looking forward to the next match.
Will you stay out of my head?!
~~~
I appear to like Suki a lot...probably since I get to use my vocabulary words with her. XD I love it when she controls others and drives Mix crazy. XD I drive my younger siblings crazy too. ^___^
Suki beat Mix! I bet he hates me for doing that. XD Gotta love the part when Yoshi "attacks" Atam. XDDD I always wanted to do that to someone and Yoshi was the perfect character to do that. XD
I also included a Christmas line throughout the chapter. ^_^
I hope all of you have splendid holidays and have enjoyed this chapter! All questions, comments, and suggestions are always welcomed!
