Here are the ground rules of the club. Read 'em and weep....or don't weep, just read them. That'll be good enough.

1. NO HATERS. You wanna go around bashing Anabel, or really anything relating to her? Keep it out of this thread. And another thing---if you post your hate in other threads, I'm not responsible for any punishment you may incur by way of your hate posting.

2. As of right now, myself and S. Suikun are co-owners of this club since we came up with it. Either of us may decide to name more co-owners in the future, but that will remain to be seen.

3. (New rule as of 4/19/06) When you post asking to join, please add a short piece on why you like Anabel.

And now on to our first topic.

When you first battled Anabel in Pokémon Emerald, what was the outcome? Any unusual or surprising occurances, or just great battling?

My first match against her was unmitigated disaster. It opened with Alakazam vs. Alakazam, hitting each other with an element punch. She then pulled Disable to halt me from using that same punch again, messing me up. Her next attack fainted my Alakazam, so I brought out Milotic. She Thunderpunched, but I only lost 1/2 HP and finished her off with Surf. Entei appeared, Calm Minded to withstand another Surf, then Returned Milotic off. Blaziken was my last Pokémon. Her Fire Blast (why?) missed, and Earthquake KO'd Entei. When her Snorlax came out I used Sky Uppercut, leaving her with about 1/4th of her HP left. Unfortunately Body Slam got a critical hit, and my first attempt at the Ability Symbol ended in failure.

I'll join! I have yet to battle Anabel, but I LOVE her character. She's so cool and I'd love to battle her eventually. ^_~

Oh, you better believe it. I think you may find my description of facing her helpful as well, since it reveals two tactics she always uses: Element Punch+Disable with Alakazam, and Calm Mind with Entei.

The strange thing is, when I rematched her, I knew not to use the same attack twice in a row against Alakazam, so by the time Snorlax came out, Blaziken still had full HP---and she uses Yawn. That's right, Yawn. An odd choice if you ask me.....

Anabel is my all-time favorite frontier brain. She has two of my favorite pokemon: Entei and Snorlax.

After many trails and frustrations I finally fought Anabel twice on got both Silver and Gold Ability Symbols. The first match was like this:

Slaking wiped out Alakazam after taking a Fire Punch. Entei Calm Minded while Slaking was loafing, Calm Minded again and barely survived an Earthquake and Fire Blasted Slaking off, next I sent out Starmie to defeat Entei with Surf. She sent Snorlax and I froze it with Ice Beam and then switched thinking it would safe, then Snorlax defrosted and Yawned Miltank and I switched Miltank away and brought back Starmie. Snrolax Yawned and Starmie Ice Beamed (no freeze), then Snorlax took Starmie down with 2 Shadow Balls. I brought out Miltank and Thunderwaved Snorlax, who did nothing afterwards, then Yawned again next turn, Miltank used Seismic Toss twice. Snorlax proceeded to Body Slam and Miltank fell asleep. Neither Pokemon was able to move for the next turn, then Miltank woke up and ST again. Snorlax was once again paralyzed and then Miltank used ST again for the win.

The Gold battle was easier:

Dugtrio + 2 Earthquakes> Raikou + 1 Reflect

Switched to Starmie when Latios came out, Latios used Psychic. Starmie retaliated with Ice Beam which froze Latios. Latios did nothing and was wiped out with another Ice Beam. Snorlax came out (Reflect faded) and I switched to Dragonite. Snorlax used Shadow Ball and then Dragonite used Dragon's Dance, Snorlax struck with Return with did great damage (but wasn't KO'd). Dargonite swung back with Brick Break, which gave a dent to Snorlax's HP. Then for some reason used Curse. Dragonite finished off Snorlax with another BB for the gold symbol. This match will be forever be in my Battle Record.

You can say luck was on my side.

First off it was my Flygon vs Alakazam, which ended quickly as only three moves were used between both of us mine being Crunch and Dragonbreath, Her's Disable
Next was Entei, which Battered Aggron, who was brought out by Entei's Roar and KOed by Fire Blast, Entei was brought down by Flygon with Earthquake and Finally Anabel sent Snorlax out, which didn't take as long as Entei, but Like Norman's Slaking kept using Yawn (I also hate that move along with Swagger) That ended when Flygon had to use TWO Earthquakes (Snorlax was in the red on the first, Number 2 was to finish her off) to beat That Snorlax

I haven't battled her yet but I know it's gonna be hard and I'll lose because of the Snorlax or Entei.

I can't wait for the episode when she appears comes out. ^__^

Whoa, whoa, whoa!!! This thing exploded in popularity when I took a seista, eh? I'll try to respond to each post individually, and to all: I will update the member list ASAP.

Pikachu: Luck was a big part of your win, definitely. Especially the Silver Symbol match, going by your synopsis. I haven't even come close to facing her for the Gold yet (my record is 58, when you need 69 to face her in 70) but she does seem a bit easier in the second match when you analyze her movesets. Any Ground type can easily OWN Raikou, and Latios shouldn't present too much of a problem if you have a solid Ice Beamer like Starmie. Snorlax is the trump card she'll play; most of the time it seems she Curses her strength up, then Rests, Chesto Berries, and then sweeps away with Return and Shadow Ball. An EndReverser like Heracross, Blaziken or even Hitmonlee would be majorly helpful with 'Lax, I'd bet.

Megajunior: Welcome to the club. It's heartening to see more people who like Anabel.

Dark_Scyther: I found reaching her more frustrating than beating her, because I constantly lost to Aerodactyl being pulled randomly....... And I had a heck of a time trying to beat Noland. His was the last silver symbol I won, and I lost against him in the Gold Symbol match. (I have 7 Silver and 1 Gold, the Dome being my sole Gold Symbol)

S. Suikun: Glad to see you found our little outpost. Thanks for approving the new members, I'll add 'em to the list.

hikari_blaze: Heheheh. Anabel is cute. Welcome in, and just be advised: with a solid Earthquaker for Entei and a good Fighting type for Snorlax, you should win.

Would a Blaziken with Earthquake/Sky Uppercut do? Swampert with Surf and Earthquake'd be good too.

I support the shipping of Anabel with Lucy or with Greta... I'm weird...

Blaziken with Quake and Uppercut is what I used. Served me well with both her Entei and Snorlax, once I knew her tactics.

Heh, your shippings aren't all that odd. Have you noticed the couples I've claimed? (Anabel+Wallace? Snattle+Lovrina?!)

The images are on page four of the thread "AG 170: Salon Maiden Anabel Appears!" in Amine Spoilers but I would not recommend going there. You will see things that are absolutely hideous and represent some of the worst dreck you can imagine on this site. If you want them, I'm sure Serebii wouldn't care if I reposted them in this thread.

Personally I don't see why everyone hates her design---she *was,* after all, drawn true to the original designs (look in the Emerald Player's Guide--she looks *exactly* the same) That's more than I can say for Lucy, whose skin color was changed (she's completely white in the anime, but in the Guide her skin is a rather odd purplish gray color)

I dunno, the designs made her look older, like early 20s, the anime version makes her look like a 15 year old (not that I'm complaining).

Also Lucy had that evil look going for her.

Note her arms are very long in both pics, something that was complained about. In fact, the only thing that I see different is that they changed her face very slightly. I really don't see much of a difference at all.

Well, the Lucy episode was arguably the most horribly-animated episode in the entire series. All the characters looked off. The Anabel ep is apparently being done by that exact same team, but the designs are not as horrid.

Let's talk about Anabel again. Your thoughts about the Battle Tower itself and its challenge?

I have mixed feelings on the Tower itself. On one hand, it's one of the truest challenges of your skill---nothing but white-knuckle battling with no frills. But all it takes is one problem to screw it up---mine is having to face someone who hacked to get a non-Truant Slaking that appears in the 56th battle.
