Lately I have seen an overload of spam, in particular threads, and it got me thinking that everybody needs a big wake-up call.

1) A little review of two very important rules, which I believe have been neglected:

1. Do Not SPAM.
10. Do not just reply saying: "Yeah, I agree" or "No, I disagree". Explain yourselves.

2) A thread is NOT, despite what you may think, a chatroom. You can't post one-liners that add nothing to the conversation. If you really must discuss things this way, use the Private Messaging service, or swap e-mails. Don't spam. Period.

3) Don't "great update, when's the next one" me, or anyone else here. Why? It adds NOTHING, I repeat, NOTHING to the conversation, it gives the author nothing to improve or change, and really gives him/her no satisfaction. To learn how to create a useful review, I recommend this thread, by Infinity. It should help you.

4) Many new comicmakers are dying to have their thread get some attention or recognition. How do I know this? I was there. I wanted to be noticed and have attention, yet my thread always slipped to the bottom. When spammy threads are made, they push everyone aside so they can bask in the top few spots.

Agreed! Add my name in. I recall way back a while ago, The Clefairy Show had six pages where two spammies were fighting an imaginary battle between Toad and, um, a frog. I think. But it was six pages! OF JUST THAT! NEVER MENTIONING ANYTHING TO DO WITH TCS! He deleted that incarnation of the thread, but it's that sorta thing we're talking about here.

Most of TPJ, Pokemon Supreme, and similar threads are full of that kinda thing. Not being critical here, guys, it's just that a great deal of your fanbase is that sorta people.

Beco...I'll give him credit for improving. His stuff isn't that interesting, and not really that visually effective, but these days, it's decent on grammar, and it's not JPGed, at least. So he's not abominable.

But back on topic. It's perfectly fine to have a friendly discussion on things that came up while talking about the thread. WP and I does it all the time. But be sure to keep referencing the comic at least a little. For example, I make it a personal rule of thumb to mention something about HWWP (TC) in each post, no matter how many webcomics or Megaman games we're discussing.

Correct on multiple points, as always, blue. I am also sick and tired of idiots running around screaming their heads off, spamming without explaining themselves and thinking that they're protected by the First Ammendment's Freedom of Speech gantation. It's sickening and it needs to stop. I will sign this wholeheartedly.

As much as I like this thread let me be honest, unless this thread is thrown into everyone's face it's not going to fully stop SPAM. It'll prevent some, but when a new n00b comes in here and starts SPAMming this place up there will continually be more issues to deal with. I know Magic Sunburst cleaned this place up and she did pretty good. Overall though this place still could be moderated better especially since there is a consistent over-flux of activity that goes on here.

I agree with the topic's purpose though.

I'm aware it's not going to stop spam, but at least it'll be, as I said in the first post, a wake-up call to those who are here now. There will always be spammers, but let's try and stop the spammers we have this moment.

By 'just yet' does that mean I can convince you? The point? As a united front it is much easier to defeat spam then if we all ignore it.

Hmm.... strangely enough, I see that you are not a mod. Therefore you have no authority over making new rules. If it was a problem, the mods would've made a rule long ago. Having members sign some pledge isn't going to make them stop spamming. Therefore, this thread is useless and rather idiotic.
