The Armageddon Infection [Pg14]

The Jewel of Life

A Gift From Arceus
Snivel... the people here at Serebii forums aren't signing up for my roleplays... I guess I'm just that boring and that much of a noob. Oh well, I'm going to try this idea that was popular on another and far less famous forum long ago. I hope this takes off.

The Disease and the Prophecy

Running his fingers over a large stone tablet, the young archaeologist muttered the words it bore quietly to himself.
"'When the world faces its certain end, seventeen heroes will arise and prevent the inevitable from destroying the Earth.' Prevent the inevitable? How can that happen? But this is the sixth relic found with the prophecy, it must mean something." Inspecting the 'unknown' runes that covered the dry, dusty piece of stone one more time, Saber, the arcaeologist who enjoyed talking to himself, put his discoverey back in its storage place in the lab and tried to focus on other studies. Yet deep in thought, Saber found that looking at other things was impossible, and that his only thoughts were of the strange prophecy that had been found in ruins of more than one ancient civilization. What was the 'certain end' that the world faced? Who were the seventeen heroes and what made them so special? Finding himself unable to work, Saber spent a minuet or two tidying up before heading to bed, unknowing that in a few short weeks, the apocalypse would begin.

At first people just thought that their pokemon were getting a cold- a few coughs and a runny nose were nothing. But then more and more pokemon began getting infected, and new symptoms of the disease were beginning to appear. Pokemon all over the world were dying slow and horrible deaths, while humans remained uneffected and helpless to their perishing friends.

First the pokemon woudl just have a cold with normal symptoms, but that was considered unimportant until the second effect appeared. The second effect was caused by the germs attacking the pokemon's bones, causing them to be weak and brittle. After a few days of this, the pokemon's bones were so weak they could break as easily as toothpicks, and the newly named 'Armageddon Infection' could be diagnosed. The pokemon would begin seeing hallucinations and it would attack things randomly, even at the cost of literally breaking every bone in their body. Finally, if that didn't kill them, the pokemon would undergo severe internal bleeding to the point at which blood would be running out of their mouth and even their nose. Out of thousands of pokemon diagnosed, so far none had survived, and there was no cure.

The world's end was inevitable; at the rate the sickness was spreading, within five years every last pokemon would be dead, and without pokemon, humans wouldn't survive long. Yet that word stuck out, inevitable. It brought small feelings of hope into the minds of citizens around the world. Inevitable... 'When the world faces its certain end, seventeen heroes will arise and prevent the inevitable from destroying the Earth.' Seventeen was a word that stood out too, for there were seventeen pokemon types, and seventeen heroes. Were the heroes humans with the abilities of pokemon, and could they really stop the Armageddon Infection from ending the world? Already one species of pokemon had been wiped entirely off the planet; although people 'lieked' them, the entire mudkip line had been erased. It wouldn't be long before one of the great legendary pokemon that ruled the planet was infected too.

The Role of the Player

After three years of pokemon constantly dying from the Armageddon Infection, the glimmer of hope that had been all but forgotten sparkled anew. You play as one of the heroes (or heroines) destined to save the world from catastrophy. As predicte, you are human, but can use three different pokemon moves depending on the type you represent. But not only that, you also gain a special ability associated with that type, and perhaps even a rare side-effect found in a species with the same type as you. When you find and learn to control your powers, the ultimate being will be formed; a pokemon as smart as a human that is completely immune to the Armageddon infection. Together with the other heroes, you must find the source, eliminate cause of this undefeatable disease, and protect the healthy from facing death. Maybe with a little luck, the world can be saved.

-Rules-

1. Although this goes without saying, all forum rules must be obeyed without question, or you will face certain doom. Kidding of course, but please, listen to the box at the top of your page that says "Rulebreakers are giving us a headache. So do us a favor and read the rules."

2. I need you to be active. If you are leaving on a vacation or will be unable to post for a period longer than three days, please give me a heads up. Also, I know from personal experience that computers can be evil little demons, so if you are having computer problems and are unable to give me a warning of absence, just PM me once you are able explaining the situation. Otherwise, I will boot you out of the roleplay. Oh, and of course, if your character has absolutely nothing to do that will help the plot in any way, I can see and understand that without explanation.

3. I. DO. NOT. TAKE. RESERVATIONS. Almost every roleplay I have written has contained this message, yet there is always some person who asks for a reservation. If you do, I will murder you in your sleep er, I mean, be very mad at you. Thanks in advance.

-The All-Important Sign Up Form-

Name: I at least need a first and last name, however you are free to do a middle name if you wish.

Age: How old is your character? They are going to save the world, so I would like it somewhere between fifteen and thirty-five.

Gender: Male, female, or... nevermind; there is no 'or'. It's male or female, simple as that.

Appearance: How tall is your character and how thin/fat are they? What color are there eyes/ is their skin/hair? Describe what their clothing is like as well. Also, since the pokemon world is technically an anime world, feel free to make your character have purple hair and pink eyes, or something else that would be naturally impossible in the real world.

Personality: Describe your personality, but try to avoid stereotypes. Also, try to avoid doing the exact opposite of what your character's type dictates that they would be. For example, I don't want a ghost-type that is a prankster yet somewhat shy (like a ghost), but I also don't want to see a friendly super-helpful and caring ghost-type who is outgoing and loves making friends. Although, I will not be very strict in these subjects, so don't feel limited.

Type: You are playing as a human with characteristics of a pokemon type, so what type are you? Keep in mind that I will only accept one person a type.

Abilities: You get one special ability that could be even remotely associated with your character's type, as long as I see some kind of connection. Also, you will list here the three moves that your character can use. The primary move is the one your character activates first and takes almost no energy, yet is obviously the weakest or least useful. The secondary move is discovered a bit later, and is more powerful/useful but requires a decent-sized toll of energy. The final move is a last resort that requires a large amount of energy but is extremely powerful or useful. Remember, all moves MUST be of your character's type, no exceptions. Finally, here you may put a special side-effect, if your character has one. An example of this would be- 'Bob is of the fire-type, and since ninetails is a well-known and powerful fire-type, Bob has the side-effect of cursing anyone who pulls his hair in a similar fashion as with ninetails and its tails.'

History: Give a description of your character's past. Don't make it too dry and boring, but I don't want it to be too eventful and I will brutally destroy any Mary-sues, so be careful in this regard.

-Other Notes On This Roleplay-
Pretty soon I will have my own character up, however I want to give some other people a chance at my favorite types before rushing in. If you have any questions at all about this roleplay, don't hesitate to ask- I'm all answers. And what was that last thing I wanted to say? Oh yeah; Enjoy!

Shinichi Misao

Pokemon Professor
Name: Janice Devon

Age: 17

Gender: female

Appearance: A young girl with short pink hair tied back in a braided ponytail that goes down her vertebra. Her eyes are goldenrod-yellow and actually sparkle when she gets excited. Her skin is rosy-red and her smile seems to light up the room when she enters (Metaphorically speaking).
Despite this innocent face, her clothes are in contrast to it. Her clothes are skimpy and gothic. Her blouse is tight fitting, revealing a very full bosom and it stops, just above her bellybutton, showing a small piercing in it. She wears a black, Demi-skirt with a Poke Ball insignia sown onto its sides. She wears Pink sandals over her feet and her finger and toenails are painted with black nail polish. She wears a small broach hanging down her throat. Her arms are covered with poorly aimed suicide scars.

Personality: Despite having Amnesia, she seems to recall having a brother and longs to find him, hoping that he may have the answer to her memory loss. She has a strong fear of fire and heat-based objects (She can’t even operate a stove). She wakes up every morning and slices her arms, hoping that it may jog her memory of who she was before, but she keeps this a secret from everyone she now knows.
She is very distant, prone to biting her thumb and stepping away from scary people, but when people she cares about are in danger, a line snaps from her conscious network, turning her into a no mercy, killing machine towards anyone who harms those close to her. She is very selfish, not caring about anyone whom she doesn’t know. Afraid that the slightest change might destroy her friendship, she tends to act cold to those she just met.
She is also, extremely, openly Gay. Doing awkward and sexually arousing things to girls she likes, in public. But this doesn’t mess with the way she treats men and women on a professional or subtle relationship. Both genders, she’ll treat as if no gender existed and that men and women are equal. She has no problem changing in front of either if she knows them well, but will reject it extremely if she is among new faces.

Type: Ground

Abilities: Janice is of the Ground-type, and since Hippowdon is a strange, yet natural Ground-type, Janice has the side-effect of sweating sand out of her pores and blowing sand out of her mouth (On purpose) as with Hippowdon and its sand filled body. She can use Sand Storm right away, and with a little effort she can manipulate the sand that comes out of her hands to make a bone (But is much larger b/c she is much larger than a Marowak) to use Bonemerang, Bone Rush, or Bone Club. With a huge amount of strength she can use Earthquake with her hands or feet directly to her opponent in the form of a punch or kick.

History: (OOC: I will write this out in RP style for more image.)
Janice awoke. She looked around to find herself in a huge crater. Her arms were scarred with heavy slashes and she was… “Hold on a second!” She screamed. “Where am I?!” She quickly scampered around; she definitely couldn’t handle this kind of stress.
“Captain Obvious awakens,” a voice called out from nowhere. OK, not nowhere, it seemed to have come from outside the crater. Then some clothes fell from outside, “Here. They’re mine. I’d love to talk, but I can’t really come down. I have a rope if you need it?”
But Janice simply grabbed hold of a protruding rock and threw herself into the air. Unfortunately, she miscalculated the distance and threw herself into her new friend. She looked up and realized why she couldn’t come down. She was handicapped. Her legs were covered with scars and Janice found her head must have waked her lip, because there was a cut on it.
The girl must have noticed too, but she touched her lip, wiping the blood onto her finger. Janice and the girl then seemed pulled by some mystical force, because the two drew closer taking deeper breaths as they crept closer. Then, their lips met. To the two, it was as if the whole universe has recreated itself solely for them. Giving them an entire planet to be together with.
Upon their separation, the girl whispered into her ear, “I’m Katrina Hathorn. What’s yours?”
Shell shocked and mystified by the kiss, Janice said the first name that came to mind, “Captain Obvious.” This only made Katrina start laughing, but after seeing her confused face, she calmed down.
“Don’t you know your name?” But Janice only shook her head.
“I don’t know who I am.”
“Well you’re a first-rate kisser if that’s any help.” The two laughed. After returning to Katrina’s shack outside of town. They picked out Janice for her name and Katrina introduced Janice to her mom. For a couple of months the two lived a peaceful life outside of society.
After a couple of accidents, Janice discovered her power over Sweat Sand as Katrina called it. Then, the accident occurred.
One day, after playing outside for a while, Katrina fell down a crater, breaking her arms and her still-healing legs. Blaming herself for that accident, Janice left, hoping to no longer bring pain to those near her. After that painful experience, Janice remembered one powerful memory from her head. Brother.
After that, Janice left hoping to find out who she was by following the only clue that she knew: A brother with no name or face, and a strange power that was completely unorthodox.

After a year of finding nothing, Janice went back to were she met Katrina for the first time. She collapsed, hugging her leg with freshly cut arms.
She then heard a strangely familiar voice in her head. It sound so close and endearing that she quickly turned around, hoping that whoever it was, was there: No one at all, nothing but empty wasteland and a growing metropolis in the distance.
