Prologue

“It has begun!”Exclaimed Malefor.

“Oh no, we’re too late!” Spyro said, looking down upon the planet beneath them.

“Welcome to the end of the world…” Malefor said as the Destroyer climbed into the volcano- completing the ring of fire. A powerful beam of intense power shot forth from the volcano, colliding with the floating island which was Malefor’s Lair. Spyro and Cynder felt the rush of the energy as it swept past them while the planet began to slowly break apart beneath them.

Tumbling down onto what remained of Malefor’s Lair, they gave all they had against Malefor. Once more they evaded his strikes until they finally got atop him. They grabbed each other, swirling together, forming a powerful ball of energy which was thrown against Malefor. The duo struck him again and he was sent further downwards.

The battleground in which they fought now descended into the depths of the blazing volcano and Malefor once again struck at them…using a shield of fury power this time. However, his shield had failed…

The duo broke through his shield with waves of fury and he dropped to the ground. Cynder struck him with a beam of purple energy which stunned him while Spyro dashed forward and made his final move. The platform shattered and they were in free fall downwards.

While they spiralled downwards, they looked at each other, wondering what to do next. Suddenly, Malefor sprung up from behind them and forced them against the walls of the volcano. Spyro applied every last ounce of energy left in him and pushed back against him. Together, they forced him off of them and they both charged into him with great force, pushing him into the core of the volcano.

They flew into the core and beneath them sat what appeared to be a large purple gemstone. Malefor flapped his wings and stared at them with hate.

“You cannot defeat me! I am eternal!” Malefor shouted firing his beam of dark fury at Spyro and Cynder who countered it with their beams of light fury. Together, the beams collided in a flurry of purple lights.

“Just…hang…on…” Spyro managed to say while outputting tremendous amounts of energy and power.

Soon, Malefor was overcome by the power of the duo and was sent sprawling onto the purple gem which was the core of the planet. He soon got up quickly, however, only to meet purple silhouettes of dragons which had emerged from the purple gem.

“What is this?” Malefor shouted, eyeing each of the silhouettes. They surrounded Malefor and flew at him, dragging him into the depths of the gem.

“NOOOOOO!!!” he yelled as he was taken into the depths of the gem. Spyro and Cynder, who were watching Malefor as he was pulled into the gem, felt their freedom once more as the snakes binding them together faded.

Malefor was defeated but their quest was not over yet.

“Spyro…I’m sorry…I’m so sorry…” said Cynder, referring to the fact that she tricked Spyro into freeing Malefor.

“Don’t be. It’s over now,” said Spyro forgivingly.

The energy output from the purple gem started to break the walls of the cavern, revealing the vast domain of space.

“So this is it?” Cynder said while looking at the glow of the stars and the sun against the dark background of space.

“Spyro…when a dragon dies, he does not truly leave this world,” said a new voice, belonging to Ignitus. Ignitus had appeared behind Spyro who closed his eyes shut as he listened to the Guardian’s voice.

“His spirit lives on, binding itself with nature, offering hope for the future…”

Realising what he had to do, Spyro opened his eyes.

“I know what I need to do, just get out of here Cynder.” Spyro said to Cynder.

“Spyro, no…you don’t have to do anything. Let’s just go.”

“Where Cynder? There’ll be nothing left! The world is breaking apart.” Said Spyro in disappointment.

“But I think I can stop it. I think I’m meant to.” he added.

“Then I’m with you…” Cynder said, moving closer to Spyro.

Spyro looked at her and closed his eyes. He flew up slightly and started focusing his energy, all the while shining a brilliant white.

“I love you…” whispered Cynder who moved closer to Spyro.

Spyro released a wave of purple energy which enclosed the fragments of the planet, and began to bring the pieces back together.

On the surface, the remaining guardians, Hunter, Sparx and the survivors walk out to witness a spectacular sunset upon the world. The sun flashed a brilliant golden hue onto the planet.

In the sky, an assortment of stars formed into an image of a dragon…an image of Spyro...

--------

The Chronicler watched as a new page was written into one of the history books, that of the restoration of the world and the rebuilding of the once great civilisation. He turned around as something attracted his attention.

“Be welcomed, friend. I have long been expecting you…” he said to the new arrival.

“A new age is beginning. With each new age, a worthy dragon is chosen to witness the many triumphs and failures of that age. This has been my duty for many millennia and now, Ignitus, I pass this honour to you.” Spoke the Chronicler as Ignitus approached.

“And…what of Spyro? Is he…” Ignitus asked, wondering what had happened to the young purple dragon, who had saved the planet.

“Hmm, that’s the question, isn’t it? You see, each time a dragon dies, a new page is written in this book.” replied the Chronicler.

The history book flew away and a new book came to take its place.

“I’ve done my best but I can’t seem to find any trace of Spyro.” Once said, the Chronicler shone a brilliant white and vanished. Ignitus then flashed a brilliant white and changed to the same colour as that of the previous Chronicler. The lantern which hung from a necklace was also worn by him.

Ignitus gazed upon the book that was in front of him and combed its many pages, searching for Spyro, the purple dragon who had restored the world.

“Well young dragon…where might you be?”

--------

Spyro and Cynder, having escaped the core of the planet, fly happily as they streak through the lush green fields and forests. Spyro flew close to Cynder and they looked at each other in the eyes.

“Catch me if you can!” exclaimed Cynder, as she sped off towards the forest ahead of them.

“Ooooh, you can’t outrun me!” exclaimed Spyro as he too sped off.

Spyro caught up to Cynder and they smiled at each other. He was so happy to be with Cynder. No longer was he alone in the new world. He had somebody…somebody that would keep him company…somebody that would be there for him.

The forest gave way to a beautiful lake, shimmering under the golden hue of the Sun. An island was spotted in the centre of the lake on which stood many trees. Spyro was curious about the lake since he had never seen it before. He hadn’t seen the forest either.

“Let’s go land on that island.” said Spyro.

“Spyro, what’s wrong?” Cynder asked him, looking at the expression on his face.

“Everything’s different now since I restored the world. I’ve never seen this lake or the forest.” Spyro replied.

“Well…we’ll get used to the new landscape. I wonder where Warfang is?” said Cynder.

“I wonder if Warfang even exists after what had happened,” replied Spyro.

“Let’s go find the other guys! Before they get worried about us!” exclaimed Cynder.

Once said, the two flew off in search of their friends. Unbeknownst to them, a pair of eyes was spying on them, watching them fly off intently.

“Interessting…very interessting…” muttered an unknown voice, “Thiss dragon iss perfect for the plan. Maasster will be very pleassed…”

“Maalefor would acceptt the plan ssstraight away but Sspyro is sstronger than himm. He would be of more benefitt…and Cynder…sshe would be an asset as well…” the unknown voice added.

Having said this, the creature with the unknown voice came out into the open. The sunlight revealed the creature to be a dark green snake with red eyes and stripes of blue on its body. The snake soon teleported somewhere, presumably to report to his master about his quiet encounter.

--------

“We’ve been flying for hours. I’m getting tired. We should take a break for a while.” Said Cynder who was getting annoyed that their friends had not been found yet.

“We’ll land down there, near that stream,” replied Spyro as he moved to land.

They landed by the stream and drank some water to re-energise. Soon enough, the rays of sunlight were fading and the sky had turned to a beautiful crimson red.

“Did you really mean what you said in the core…Cynder?” asked Spyro as he turned to look at her.

Cynder turned to smile at him, “Spyro…what makes you think I feel any different? Spyro…I’m sorry for the pain I’ve caused you…I’ve been so stupid…but for what it’s worth…I want to be with you…”

“Whatever has happened is in the past now…Cynder…I cannot blame you for those events.” Spyro said as tears welled up in his eyes.

“I understand…” Cynder said with a smile. They looked into each others eyes until Cynder remembered something.

“Where do you think we are?”

“I don’t know…We’re somewhere but I can’t be sure if it is Dragon Realms.” replied Spyro.

“At least we’re here together…right?” Cynder said hopefully.

“Yes…we’ve got each other…” The two got closer for a kiss as he said this when suddenly Spyro noticed sounds and light coming nearby.

“Quick! Hide!” whispered Spyro.

They hid among bushes to avoid detection from the oncoming group. They stared as the group walked past the bushes in front of them. There were about three in the group. One noticeable creature looked very similar to Spyro. It had fair muscular build and had orange, spotted skin. The creature was very similar indeed…

“Hunter?” Spyro thought.

“No…it can’t be…I need another look.”

Spyro poked his head slightly through the bushes just so he could get a glimpse of the creature. The creature definitely looked like Hunter.

“Cynder…I think Hunter is in that group…Cynder?”

“Spyro…come look at this…” Cynder said, completely ignoring what Spyro had said.

“What is it?”

“I’m standing on it…looks like some kind of entrance of some sorts.” She replied.

“We’ll have to investigate it later. It’s getting dark and I think we should join the group over there. Hunter is with them.” Said Spyro, wanting to rejoin his friends.

“OK, OK. Are you entirely sure Hunter is there?”

“Positive.” He replied.

“We’ll see. Humph.”

“We can come back here tomorrow and see where this entrance leads to.” Said Spyro.

Following the group, the two decide to show themselves.

“Wait for us!” Cynder yelled at the group.

“Spyro…Cynder…” wondered one of the creatures that looked like a mole.

“Is it really them?” spoke another mole.

“It is…” spoke a deep voice.

Spyro and Cynder ran up to the group, exhilarated and thrilled.

“Hey you guys.” Proclaimed Spyro.

“It’s us!” said Cynder.

“Yes of course! We are all thrilled to find you but I am afraid that we must hasten back to Warfang.” Said Hunter, removing his cloak.

“Warfang still exists?” questioned Cynder.

“Yes…parts of the great city are damaged after the initial split of the planet but it is still habitable. Now let’s get a move along before we are lost in the dark!” announced Hunter.

“Yes…let’s go…onto Warfang.” Spyro spoke as they followed the group.

The group moved onto Warfang, where the other guardians and survivors had assembled.

“Perfect…just perfect…perfect for the plan I have in mind…” muttered an unknown voice which, unbeknownst to the group, was silently following them…

No one, not even Spyro, knew that the real battle had only just begun…

This is great, i love Spyro.

I made a couple of changes, which i put in bold if you don't mind.

Other than that it sounds great, i look forward to reading the chapters.

Chapter 1-Return to Warfang

The group are on their way to Warfang, the great Dragon City, where the survivors have assembled. Spyro and Cynder, having escaped near death in the core, are eager to find news from the remaining guardians. Unbeknownst to them, a new enemy had risen, plotting their plan…

“I’m getting really hungry,” said Spyro, his stomach growling.

“Me too” said Cynder.

“We won’t be long now,” replied Hunter, just as the last rays of the sun were fading.

Hunter brought out what appeared to be a torch. He beckoned it to Spyro.

“Could you…Spyro?” he muttered.

“Huh? Oh…of course,” replied Spyro and he breathed fire onto the torch, setting it ablaze.

“I’m afraid we’ll have to camp the night. It is already dark and it is dangerous to travel during this time,” said Hunter.

“Why is it dangerous?” asked Cynder.

“Not all of the bad creatures were eliminated when the planet split, Cynder, we must be cautious,” Hunter replied.

The group moved over to a spot where they could camp. Hunter left to get some wood, leaving Spyro, Cynder and the two moles to set up the camp.

“So what are your names?” asked Spyro as he took supplies out from Hunter’s bag.

“I’m Rithu,” replied the older looking mole, “I was a blacksmith in Warfang.”

“I’m Sheml,” replied the female mole, “I was one of the nurses in Warfang.”

“Nice to meet you. Looks like both of you could be of assistance when the time comes,” said Cynder.

“It will be a pleasure serving the great Spyro and Cynder. A great honour!” exclaimed Rithu.

“Yes…it will be a great honour!” added Sheml.

“I see you guys haven’t set up camp yet…too much chattering I must say,” said Hunter who had come back with some wood.

“Yep. Getting to know each other,” replied Sheml.

“Why don’t we just set up camp for now?” suggested Rithu.

So the group set up camp. Spyro breathed fire onto the pile of wood, which set it ablaze, when he noticed Hunter bring something he was curious about. He had never seen the object before and wondered what it was.

“Hunter…what is that object you’re holding?” asked Spyro, “I’ve never seen it before.”

“What…this…it’s an enemy detector. It senses and goes off if enemies are approaching,” Replied Hunter.

“I have several of these so we can put them around camp,” said Hunter.

Meanwhile, Cynder, Rithu and Sheml had managed to get the tents up. Sheml had brought food out for everybody to eat, consisting of berries and some fish. The group take to having dinner before going to sleep.

“Mmmmm, that’s nice fish,” complimented Cynder, whose stomach was growling minutes earlier, “That restores some energy.”

Once the group finished eating they decided it was time to go to bed. Spyro was tossing and turning, thinking about the guardians and Ignitus’ message, in his sleep. Finally he decided to get up and he walked outside to the fire. Surprisingly, Hunter was sitting in front of the fire, showing no signs of having gone to sleep.

“Hunter? Why are you awake?” Spyro asked.

“I’ve been thinking…this world is so different now. I still recognise some places such as Warfang, but other places are entirely new to me. It’s like I’m in a different world,” he replied.

“I’ve been thinking about that too…but I know this is the same world…just different looking,” Spyro told him.

“Still…we’ll get used to it,” said Hunter, looking at Spyro.

“Yes…,” Spyro replied.

Suddenly, one of the enemy detectors went off, sounding like a horn blaring.

“Something’s here…we must be vigilant…” muttered Hunter.

“I wonder what it is…wait a minute…didn’t you say earlier that not all bad creatures were destroyed when the planet split?” asked Spyro.

“Yes…I did…and I have a feeling that some are here right now,” replied Hunter, “Be ready.”

Cynder, Rithu and Sheml came out of their tents, wondering what had set off the noise.

“Something set off the detector, Hunter?” asked Rithu.

“Could be dangerous,” said Sheml

“Be careful…” said Cynder.

A sound was heard coming towards the group, which readied their attack.

A small hopping creature came out of the darkness. The group thought it posed no threat when suddenly a giant creature lunged from the darkness, swiping the small creature. The group heard violent crunching sounds after that. The group prepared for the worst…

The creature had come out of the darkness and into the light. It was large and appeared to be covered in moss. It was a giant Grublin.

The grublin swung its arms at Hunter, who dodged in the nick of time. Hunter readied his arrows while the grublin faced Spyro, eyes glaring with fury. The grublin charged at Spyro, who dodged the attack with his snake-skill ability. The grublin, having missed Spyro, crashed straight into one of the tents, shattering it upon impact.

“He destroyed my bed!” shouted Cynder when Rithu and Sheml fled into one of the tents.

“I’ll take care of this,” Hunter said while aiming.

Hunter released the arrow and it shot straight into the grublin's back. The grublin roared in pain and turned around, facing his attacker. Spyro decided to ram the creature at the side since its focus was on hunter.

“Must ram it now…” Spyro thought.

“Now…now…now…NOW!”

Spyro charged at the grublin at full speed, who turned to look at Spyro just to be knocked over. Spyro came back and rammed it again while it was knocked over, severely damaging it. Cynder finished the creature off by using her Scorpion Strike attack, which caused the grublin to disintegrate, leaving behind various red and green crystals.

Spyro and Cynder picked up these crystals, restoring their health and mana, respectively.

“Luckily there was only one of them,” sighed Cynder in relief.

“Thank goodness…” said Hunter.

“Is it safe to come out now?” asked the voice of Sheml.

“Yes,” replied Spyro and Cynder simultaneously.

“We were so…scared,” muttered Rithu as he came out.

“Don’t worry. It’s gone now. We’re safe,” assured Hunter.

“I guess…” said Spyro.

“Yes…we should get back to sleep,” said Hunter, “We have a big day ahead of us tomorrow.”

“Let’s go to sleep…” said Cynder sleepily.

“Wheh…heh…heh…heh,” the unknown being thought to itself, silently watching outside the camp, unable to detected, even by the detectors.

--------

The group woke up to a beautiful sunrise. Packing things up quickly, they made their way to Warfang, without disturbance from enemies, where the Guardians were waiting. Upon arrival, the group were taken to the newly built Dragon temple, Rithu and Sheml, however, had to sadly leave.

“I’m afraid that Rithu and I must leave, as our families require our support as of the moment,” informed Sheml.

“It would be an honour to walk in the majestic halls of the temple but we're sorry,” Rithu added.

“Well then…it’s been nice knowing both of you,” said Cynder.

Rithu and Sheml turned back and walked down the stone steps to meet their families while Hunter, Spyro and Cynder continued on, entering the ornate doors of the Dragon Temple.

“Welcome back Hunter! I see you have found and brought along Spyro and Cynder too,” said Volteer, a large yellow dragon who was the guardian of electricity.

“It wasn’t easy Volteer. We were ambushed in the middle of the night by a giant Grublin. Those detectors, however, alerted us to the threat and we subdued it before we could be harmed,” replied Hunter.

“I see…have Rithu and Sheml gone off somewhere?”

“They were required by the support of their families and were forced to part ways with us,” replied Hunter.

“Ah…I see that you’ve returned. Well then, Spyro, Cynder, tell us your story. How did you defeat Malefor?” asked Cyril who had just emerged from one of the temple rooms.

“Well…it goes like this…” replied Spyro.

Spyro told everybody how Cynder and he fought Malefor, how they tumbled down into the core of the planet and how Malefor was pulled into the large purple gem by the silhouettes, leading to his defeat.

“So that’s how he was defeated…I wonder who were the dragons that took him into the gem…interesting…” muttered Volteer.

“What happened after that, Spyro?” asked Cyril.

He told them the message of Ignitus and how he had realised what he had to do.

“You heard Ignitus’ spirit talking? Wow! I would have loved to see that. After all, I never got a chance to say goodbye to him.” Cyril said in a miserable tone.

“And you realised what you had to do after what he had said? You realised that you must save the world?” asked Volteer.

“Yes…those words…of honour…and hope,” Spyro replied.

“Spyro, aren’t you forgetting something?” questioned Cynder.

“Do you really want the other guys to know?”

“Might as well Spyro,” Cynder replied.

“Alright, alright…another thing had happened in the core,” He spoke to everyone.

“Yes, what is it Spyro?” asked Volteer.

“…Cynder…she…she…confessed her feelings toward me…” said Spyro in a small tone.

“It is true…I love Spyro…and I will be with him no matter what,” said Cynder bravely.

Everyone went dead quiet once they heard this.

“What’s going on here? Why is it so quiet?” yelled a familiar voice.

“Terrador?” wondered Spyro.

“S-Spyro? Cynder? Is that you? Where’ve you been?” Terrador exclaimed as he saw the purple dragon who smiled back at him.

“Well we were trying to find our way home until we found Hunter, who brought us here,” Spyro gestured towards Hunter, who nodded.

“It’s great to see you made it but where’s Ignitus?”

“He…didn’t make it…” Cynder said while Spyro faced the ground sadly.

Terrador’s face contorted into that of sadness and a tear sparkled as it formed at his eye before briskly shaking it away.

“Well…at least you have returned…”

“Hmmm…let’s all have a minute of silence to remember the great Ignitus,” said Cyril.

Everybody remained silent with their heads bowed as they payed respect to the dragon who had passed on.

“Well…Terrador, what’s the news?” asked Volteer.

“Can’t say much…lone grublins in several areas, however, there have been reports of mass concentrations of grublins who still seem to follow the Dark Master,” Terrador replied.

“There are rumours that they are plotting to attack Warfang soon and the moles and I have taken desperate measures that Warfang is well defended,” he added.

“Are there detectors situated outside Warfang?” asked Cyril.

“Yes…we will be notified if they go off,” replied Terrador.

“Where’s Sparx?” blurted Spyro, who was thinking of him at that moment.

“Huh…Sparx…oh yes, yes he went out this morning,” replied Volteer.

“He…went out? Where?” asked Spyro.

“Not exactly sure but I do know he went with someone,” replied Volteer

“Who?”

“Sorry Spyro but I promised him I wouldn’t tell you or Cynder. He wanted it to be kept secret.”

“Nevermind…I understand…” Spyro replied.

“Well then…I believe it is lunch time right now and, boy, I sure am getting hungry!” exclaimed Cyril.

“Let’s go eat!” said Hunter.

Spyro, Cynder, Hunter and the guardians went into the dining room and feasted on the delicious food there. Once they finished, the guardians left to tend to the restoration of Warfang’s defences while Hunter, Spyro and Cynder went back outside for general chatting.

“Hunter…I have to ask you something,” asked Spyro as they were walking through the streets of Warfang.

“Go ahead,” replied Hunter.

“While we were searching for Warfang, Cynder had found an entrance of sorts. It was made of stone. We were thinking we could maybe go and investigate what it is,”

“Hmmm…I see…I shall ask the guardians about this matter,” said Hunter, who left to inform the guardians.

“I wonder what their reply would be?” wondered Spyro.

“Probably no, since areas outside Warfang are still dangerous,” replied Cynder.

“Grublins still wandering about…” muttered Spyro.

“Still…Sparx…hehe…he’s probably got a girlfriend or something,” said Cynder.

Spyro chuckled as she said this when Hunter came back.

“We’re allowed to investigate the entrance but I’m afraid we must do it tomorrow,” informed Hunter.

They continued talking about matters such as Hunter’s experiences during the split of the planet and how he and the others had survived until it was night time.

“I’m sleepy…let’s go to sleep…” yawned Cynder.

“I’m sleepy too…need to rest so we can investigate properly tomorrow…” yawned Spyro.

Hunter, Cynder and Spyro went to sleep, thinking about their investigation tomorrow.

Meanwhile…

The snake and the unknown being were next to each other, standing in a fortress that was suspended in mid-air, as if waiting for something.

They both looked up when a cold voice spoke.

“You have come to report to me, Aleer,”

“Yesss, maasster,” replied the snake, now known as Aleer.

“Ah…of course…I see what you mean,” said the cold voice, presumably reading Aleer’s mind.

“And what about you, Vulcan,”

“I had witnessed a grublin attack the group during their camp. Spyro and Cynder easily subdued and eliminated the grublin. Their power is great. It would be very beneficial for our plan,” said Vulcan as he stepped into the dim light, revealing himself to be a wolf, covered in black fur.

“I see…this young, purple dragon is interesting…” said the cold voice.

“He and Malefor are the only two purple dragons to have witnessed the halt of the Great Cleansing. Spyro, however, halted it himself, by his own will, unlike Malefor, whose failure is interesting…” the cold voice added.

The figure the cold voice belonged to stood up and extended his wings.

“Due to the halt of the Great Cleansing, my plan now becomes viable. I just need to find the objects I desire…and select which dragon that I will use in my plan…”

“Either way…I will gain what I have sought for a long time and neither Dune, nor Selena will be able to stop me!” shouted the figure.

The figure stepped out into the dim light, revealing himself to be a pure black dragon with glowing red eyes and spikes running down his whole back.

His laughter echoed through his flying fortress. He turned and looked through his two mirrors, one showing Spyro asleep in Warfang and the other showing Malefor in stasis, trapped inside the purple gem. It was unknown whether his plan was good or bad. Only time would reveal the answer…

Chapter 2-Through the Entrance

Spyro, Cynder and Hunter woke to a bright sunrise. Eating their breakfast and getting ready quickly, they were about to leave Warfang until a familiar voice called them.

“Wait! Wait for me! Don’t leave me behind!” yelled the voice.

“Sparx?” said Spyro, turning around to view their oncaller.

“Rithu as well,” added Cynder, having seen the mole who was a blacksmith.

“Finally…I caught up with you…it’s good to see you Spyro and Cynder…” huffed Sparx.

“I see Sparx has had a change…” muttered Cynder.

“It’s good to see you too Sparx,” said Spyro.

“Yes…now that the group is here, Rithu, do you have something to inform us?” asked Hunter.

“He did look desperate to get to us before we would’ve left…” said Cynder.

“Oh yes…I’ve come to give you something…” Rithu panted.

Rithu handed Hunter a bag.

“A bag? Do we need it for our travels?” asked Hunter.

“Yes…that bag is very useful…it has been enhanced by magic so you could store many items in there…while barely feeling any weight in it,” replied Rithu.

“You will also find…some gifts from Sheml, the guardians and I,” he added.

Hunter opened the bag, revealing several red and green crystals, 2 stones that were foreign to the group and 3 pieces of armour.

“I gave each of you a piece of armour to help you on your travels while Sheml had donated some of her red and green crystals,” said Rithu.

“You have our thanks Rithu, and say to Sheml that we said thank-you to her,” replied Cynder.

“No probs,”

“What about the stones from the guardians? I’ve never seen them before,” asked Spyro.

“Ah…both of those stones increase the strength of your breath attacks,” he gave one each to Spyro and Cynder.

“I do feel a slight power increase when I’m holding this stone,” muttered Cynder.

“Me too,” said Spyro.

“Well…that’s what they do…and each of you has received helmets from me. They will increase your defence slightly,” informed Rithu.

Spyro, Cynder and Hunter each put their respective helmets on.

“Well that’s it. I hope the items you received will be of use to you!”

“Of course they will. You have our many thanks Rithu!” said Hunter.

“Say thank-you to the guardians and Sheml for us!” exclaimed Cynder.

“Oh, I will! I will!” replied Rithu. With that said, he turned around and walked off.

“Well…now that we’re ready…I say we continue forward…to…wherever it is we’re going,” announced Sparx.

“We’re going to an exposed entrance of sorts that we found 2 days ago,” replied Spyro.

“Hmmm…looks interesting…let’s go!” replied Sparx.

With that said the group turned around and walked out the gates of Warfang, along the path that they took to enter Warfang. However, they had no idea what would be inside the entrance, whether friend or foe.

--------

Several hours later…

“Are we there yet?” groaned Sparx, clearly bored of travelling.

“It should come up soon…” muttered Spyro.

“It was near some bushes…maybe those ones over in the distance,” said Cynder.

“Let’s run to it,” insisted Hunter.

The group ran quickly to the bushes and searched around for the entrance.

“Here it is!” exclaimed Cynder, who had found it first.

The group came around and looked down onto the entrance. There was an engraving of a dragon on it.

“How do we open it?” asked Spyro.

“Perhaps we have to move it,” said Hunter, who positioned himself to move the entrance.

“Help me! This…is so heavy…”

“Let’s join in,” said Cynder.

The group all stood on one side of the entrance and pushed with all their might.

“Nearly…there…” huffed Cynder.

At last, the entrance was open. The group saw nothing but pitch-black darkness. Spyro, however, was shifting around the entrance, squinting as if he saw something.

“Okay…who wants to go down the dark, creepy shaft first?” asked Sparx nervously.

“Have you seen something Spyro?” inquired Cynder, ignoring Sparx’s question.

“I saw something glint at me…something is shining down there…” Spyro commented.

“Let me see…” said Cynder, wanting to know what it was.

Cynder looked down and for a split-second, she saw something shine as well.

“There is something down there…we should go find out, right?” asked Cynder, sounding like she was joking.

“Yes…let’s go,” said Spyro in a serious manner.

--------

Meanwhile…

The pure black dragon watched through his mirror as Spyro and friends flew down the entrance. He pondered for a moment, thinking about what he should do.

“Perhaps I shall test our young dragons with this…” laughed the dragon in an evil manner.

As he said this, an iron golem appeared next to him, holding a sword and shield.

“Go…now,” the dragon ordered.

The golem turned and nodded at the dragon before teleporting away, supposedly to test Spyro and Cynder.

The dragon laughed evilly, reverberating in his flying fortress.

“Now…Aleer! Vulcan!” he called to a mirror.

“Yesss Maasster,” replied Aleer, who had appeared in the mirror

“At your service, Master,” replied Vulcan, appearing as well.

“Round up the remnants of the creatures that had served Malefor. We will begin one of my plans. You should be well aware of what it is,” said the black dragon, smiling.

“Of course, Master, we shall proceed with Siege,” replied Vulcan, once said he and Aleer faded from the mirror.

“Once again…I shall take back what is rightfully mine…and no one will stop me!” he roared, facing upwards, red eyes glowing even brighter.

--------

Spyro, Cynder and Sparx flew down while Hunter jumped from side to side along the walls of the entrance. They landed at the bottom of the entrance, earth and dust moving around them as they landed.

Spyro saw something glint at the side of his eye. He turned around and saw a large, silver door. He walked towards the door, feeling compelled to find out what was on the other side.

“What is it Spyro?” asked Hunter who had noticed him moving.

“Whoa…big door,” blurted Sparx, having just turned around.

“This place is…mysterious…” muttered Cynder.

“Let’s go on,” said Spyro.

Spyro walked up to the silver door. Nothing happened. Spyro touched the door. Nothing happened. He decided to study what was engraved on the door. Magnificent dragons had been engraved along with four symbols, each representing the major elements; fire, ice, electricity and earth.

Spyro noticed that the outlines of the symbols were black instead of their respective colour.

“I think I’m supposed to breathe the various elements on the symbols,” he told everyone.

“Be careful Spyro, I don’t want to lose my best friend after meeting him for less than a day,” said Sparx.

“You won’t lose me Sparx. Besides, I’ll be ready for whatever is on the other side of this door,” Spyro replied.

Spyro breathed fire into the fire symbol. Nothing happened for a moment.
Suddenly, the outlines of the symbol glowed a fiery red.

Spyro smiled at the others and continued on. The symbol of ice glowed an icy blue, the symbol of electricity glowed a dazzling yellow while the symbol of earth glowed a woody brown after Spyro had breathed their respective elements into them.

“Now what?” asked Cynder, anxious to know what was on the other side.

“I dunno…” replied Spyro.

Suddenly, four whooshing sounds were made, as if locks became unlocked.

The group turned to face the silver door and saw that lines glowing from the colour of their elements had extended from their symbols to a purple orb above the symbols. The purple orb glowed fiercely until it dissipated.

“What was that ab-“wondered Hunter, when the door suddenly swung open.
Ahead of them was a dimly lit hallway, extending to what appeared to be a dragon sitting.

“I think there’s a dragon over there…let’s find out,” inquired Spyro, charging through the hallway.

“Wait up!” yelled the others.

The group headed deeper and deeper into the structure until they reached the dragon. It turned out to be a statue, ornamented with two fires beside it. They also realised that it was a fork in the path at the dragon statue.
They took the right path to begin, only to find a dead end with treasure chest and several crystals.

“I wonder what’s in that chest…let’s look,” said Cynder.

Spyro and Cynder stood next to each other and opened the chest, revealing a piece of tail armour.

“Looks like I’m the only one who can wear that, “informed Cynder after examining it.

“Take those crystals as well, Hunter. They should be useful when needed,” said Spyro.

“Hmmm…what are these blue crystals…I’ll take them anyway,” said Hunter.

“Let’s go back to the pretty statue and take the left fork,” said Sparx.

The group turned around and arrived back at the statue. Taking the left fork this time, the group noticed that there were more statues of dragons sitting on the sides of the pathway. These statues, however, were not normal. They were statues of purple dragons.

“Is this a temple…honouring the purple dragons?” asked Spyro.

“Seems like it…these are probably all the purple dragons who existed before you Spyro,” replied Hunter.

The group stopped at the last purple dragon.

“Hey…it’s me!” proclaimed Spyro.

“Not only you…there’s Malefor,” said Sparx, pointing to the statue next to Spyro’s.

“I wonder…if each purple dragon caused the Great Cleansing to happen, how could each of them be remembered by the new age?” wondered Hunter.

“Whoever built this place had probably built it way earlier back in time,” said Spyro.

“This place was probably shifted closer to the surface when we stopped the Great Cleansing, since nearly every place is unknown to me now,” suggested Cynder.

“Perhaps…it’s the most logical explanation as to why this temple has appeared,” said Hunter.

“Why don’t we just keep moving forward for now?” said Sparx who went into the chamber after the hallway.

The group followed Sparx into the chamber.

“Whoa…this place is huge,” said Cynder, looking around.

“It looks like a stadium…” suggested Spyro.

Suddenly, the doors to which the group entered where slammed shut. A growling sound was heard.

“What’s that…I’m scared,” mumbled Sparx in a terrified manner.

“I’m scared too Spyro,” said Cynder.

“Don’t worry. I’m here so you are safe…just stay close to me,” he assured her.

“Get ready,” informed Hunter.

A thin beam of light appeared from nowhere and a large iron golem stepped out before the light disappeared.

“SPYRO AND CYNDER! MASTER HAS SENT ME HERE TO TEST YOU!” the golem informed with his loud voice.

“Who? Who’s your Master? We demand that you tell us!” shouted Spyro.

“THERE WILL BE NO QUESTIONS! PREPARE TO BATTLE!”

“I guess we’ll have to battle this thing to the end,” said Spyro, realising that whoever this “Master” is, wants Cynder and he eliminated.

“I’m going to hide,” mumbled Sparx, obviously terrified of the threat, and flew off, hiding behind a rock.

“I shall be of assistance…I do believe, however, that my arrows will do almost nothing against the golem’s armour,” informed Hunter.

“PREPARE TO DIE!” the golem shouted.

“Don’t worry Hunter. We’ll use our breaths to take this thing down!” assured Spyro.

The golem laughed at them, echoing around the stadium.

“WE’LL SEE ABOUT THAT!” roared the golem.

Once that was said, the golem charged at the group. Hunter jumped away and stood on a ledge above the golem, continuously firing arrows at it while Spyro and Cynder dodged by using their snake skill abilities.

“YOU CAN RUN BUT YOU CAN’T ESCAPE!”

Spyro and Cynder lined up against a stone wall. The golem turned to look at them and charged towards them.

“On my count…one…two…THREE!” yelled Spyro, as he and Cynder leapt sideways of the wall, leaving the golem to smash into the wall, sending up fumes of dust.

“That was…exhilarating,” muttered Cynder sarcastically.

The dust cleared, revealing the golem stuck in the wall, struggling to remove itself. It turned its head around completely, focusing on Spyro and Cynder, who stared back.

“Now’s my chance, “thought Hunter, arming one of his arrows.

Hunter aimed at the golem, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike. A moment passed and Hunter released the arrow. It flew at the golem, slicing the air as it streaked across the stadium. The golem, just about to turn its head, was struck in the eye by the arrow, releasing large amounts of dark energy. It’s sudden movement had broken it free from the wall, staggering as it anguished in pain.

“Time to attack!” yelled Spyro, moving towards the golem, breathing fire at it.

“AARRRRGGGGGHHH!” yelled the golem as Spyro’s flame breath melted its armour.

“Time for disintegration!” yelled Cynder as she pounced to attack the golem with Scorpion Strikes and supercharged Venoms.

“NOOOOOOOO!” roared the golem, desperately trying to escape.

“One final shot should do the trick,” said Hunter, releasing an arrow, striking the golem in the shoulder.

“One final Comet Dash,” said Spyro.

Spyro charged at the golem, with flames around him. The golem turned to be struck by the scorching flames and horns of Spyro. Spyro ran through the golem, stopping on the other side.

The golem, intermittently flashing white, was staggering. After one final flash of white, the golem broke apart, tumbling onto the ground. Something was left hovering in mid-air though. Something that was strangely peculiar…

It was an orb. A black orb, spinning as if it were a top.

“What the…” muttered Sparx, emerging from his hiding spot.

The black orb was still spinning. However, it began sending shockwaves of energy from itself, moving all the debris around it. Suddenly, the fallen pieces of the golem started moving towards the orb, as if it had control over the debris.

“Huh? What’s going on?” questioned Spyro.

“I don’t know…” replied Cynder, her eyes fixed on the orb.

The remnants of the golem pulled themselves together, rebuilding itself around the orb, which was still emanating its energy. The pieces of the golem started flashing white intermittently. The continued until a very bright flash was emitted, blinding all the others.

“Arrghhh…so…bright…” managed Spyro, recoiling under the glare.

The flash disappeared, leaving behind a damaged but rebuilt golem, standing once again.

“YOU CANNOT POSSIBLY DEFEAT ME! I AM THE IRON GOLEM SERVING THE MASTER!” roared the golem, its eyes glowing red from hatred and fury.

“Pffft…whatever….we’ll beat you anytime!” yelled Cynder.

“DO YOU REALLY THINK SO? WE’LL SEE ABOUT THAT!” the golem replied.

“Time to hide,” said Sparx, fleeing to the safety of his hiding spot.

The golem, charged at Spyro and Cynder again, narrowly missing Spyro but managed to throw Cynder into the wall.

“That…hurt…so…much…pain,” managed Cynder, damaged by the hit.

“Are you okay Cynder?” asked Spyro, rushing to her.

“I’ll…be…fine…just…think…of…something…”

“Perhaps I should use Earth Boulder…” suggested Spyro, “that should be able to knock it over.”

“Do…it…then…it’s…coming…right…at…us,”

Spyro, using Earth Boulder, became concealed in a very tough boulder and rolled at the golem, who mistimed and was knocked over by Spyro.

“Now’s our chance! Let’s go Hunter!” he yelled.

Hunter drew rounds of arrows, striking the golem in the eye several times. In the meantime, Spyro pounced and shot the golem with supercharged shots of Earth Missiles, damaging its armour even more.

Spyro unleashed a powerful Thunder Jolt at the golem, effectively paralysing it. The golem was helpless, unable to retaliate.

“Time to finish it off,” said Spyro, readying another Comet Dash.

Spyro charged up his Comet Dash and struck the golem, shattering it upon impact. He turned to see the black orb, again pulling the remnants of the golem around it.

“This should do the trick,” muttered Hunter, firing an arrow at the orb.

Spyro, Cynder and Hunter watched as the arrow fly in the air, striking the black orb.

Having been struck, the debris of the golem dropped to the ground, while the orb began releasing copious amounts of dark energy, before dissipating into thin air.

“You can come out now Sparx,” assured Hunter.

Sparx came out from his hiding spot, flying over to see what had happened to Cynder.

“Will you be okay Cynder?” asked Sparx.

“I’ll…be…fine…I…just…need…some…rest,”

“Red crystals! Quickly!” said Spyro, worried about Cynder’s condition.

Hunter scrounged up some red crystals, which were absorbed by Cynder’s body.

“That feels better…but I don’t…think it is…enough to heal…me completely,”

“Let’s find a way out of here…we need to get her to Sheml,” said Spyro.

“But where is the way out?” asked Hunter.

As he said this, a light appeared in the middle of the stadium along with a treasure chest.

Spyro pulled Cynder onto his back and walked towards the treasure chest.

He tried opening it but resorted to Hunter’s help. Upon opening, a sound was heard from inside. The piece of armour was glowing with a bright light. Hunter took the armour and placed it in his bag.

“We should probably get moving, Cynder is getting in worse condition and we’ll probably have to travel the night if we stay any longer,” said Hunter.

“Yes…let’s go,” replied Spyro.

“Are you sure this light leads outside?” asked Sparx.

“Where else would it lead?” replied Spyro sarcastically.

They all stood in the light and, after a moment, felt an unusual sensation, as if something was pulling them. They floated upwards, towards the ceiling. A bright flash of white soon appeared and they dematerialised. The flash of white faded and they rematerialised outside, standing next to the entrance.

“Let’s go…it will be evening soon,” said Hunter.

The group walked off in the direction of Warfang, unaware that something was going to happen there…

--------

Meanwhile, in the flying fortress…

“It seems our young dragon has defeated my golem. Hmmm, that golem was my finest; Spyro must be perfect for the plan. Cynder shall play a part as well, seeing as her power combined with Spyro’s is incredible,” the black dragon muttered, watching Spyro and his friends walking towards Warfang.

The black dragon turned his gaze away from the mirror, as if he sensed something. He turned and stared at a window up high, staring suspiciously as if something was there moments ago.

It began raining outside the flying fortress. Lightning flashed while thunder rumbled amongst the grey clouds.

The black dragon turned back to face the mirror, watching his own red eyes, flashes of yellow momentarily visible in the reflection.

He laughed out loud, “Looks like Selena has sent spies here. No matter, neither she nor Dune will be able to stop my plan!”

He continued laughing, echoing in his fortress.

“Selena must be notified of this immediately. Spiritus’ plan must not be launched into action,” said an unknown voice, standing on a ledge, just off the fortress.

Lighting flashed for a moment, revealing the unknown being to be a female rabbit, sent by Selena to spy on Spiritus.

“Must leave before being detected…” she said, drawing a circle in the air, creating a portal.

She stepped through it, to inform Selena of the impeding catastrophe, wherever she existed.

This is what I've got for Chapter 3 so far so enjoy!

Chapter 3-Warning for Warfang

Spyro, Sparx, Hunter and a badly injured Cynder arrive in Warfang just as the sun was setting. Cynder is taken to Sheml for treatment while Spyro, Sparx and Hunter enter the temple.

“I hope she’ll be alright,” worried Spyro, thinking of Cynder as they were walking in the temple.

“She’ll be fine. Sheml is an expert at curing,” replied Hunter.

They entered the main temple hall where the guardians were seated.

“Ah, you’ve returned. I heard about Cynder, will she be okay?” asked Cyril.

“She’s fine. Sheml is tending to her,” replied Spyro.

“Good. Well, how was your exploration? I was told that there was a monster in the place you entered,” asked Volteer.

“The place we entered was a temple of sorts, it was a temple to honour the purple dragons,” replied Spyro.

“Interesting…I’ve never heard of any unknown temple that was built for the purple dragons,”

“I have,” said Terrador, listening about the temple.

“You…you have?” asked Spyro.

“It was said that the dark dragons built a temple to honour the purple dragons thousands of years ago. Explorations to find this temple had been fruitless…until now,”

“So you’re saying that we are the ones who found the temple? We are the first to step inside it after millennia?” said Spyro, curious about the temple.

“Indeed,” Terrador replied.

“That is an amazing feat!” exclaimed Sparx.

“What about the monster you fought? The one that badly injured Cynder,” asked Volteer.

“When we were in a stadium-like area in the temple, the monster teleported out of nowhere,” replied Hunter.

“It was an iron golem, saying that it was here to fight us because it was sent by its Master,” added Spyro.

“Master…hmmm…seems oddly familiar, doesn’t it?” asked Cyril.

“I’ll go comb through the archives to search for this Master,” informed Terrador, walking off to another room.

“So anyway, we defeated the golem but there was a black orb inside it,” continued Spyro.

“A black orb? Interesting…go on,” said Volteer.

“The black orb restored the golem back until we defeated it again, and then Hunter shot the orb, dissipating it,”

“I see…this golem must have been a link to this Master,” said Cyril.

“I’ve found it!” said Terrador, walking back from the archives.

“What does it say?” asked Hunter.

“It says…Spiritus, the black dragon, born 27th year of the Sixth Age, banished to a flying fortress suspended above an uncharted land by Rabbit Queen Selena and Sky Guardian Dune in the 107th year of the Sixth Age,” said Terrador, reading from an old book.

“What age are we in?” asked Hunter.

“Currently the Eighth Age,” replied Volteer.

“Okay… what about Rabbit Queen Selena…who is she?” Continued Hunter.

“Let’s see…” said Terrador, searching for the name.

“Ah, here it is…Rabbit Queen Selena, born 30th year of the Sixth Age, ascended to Queen in the 58th year of the Sixth Age. Controlled very powerful rabbit magic, allied with the Sky Guardians to banish Spiritus, current whereabouts of Selena and her Rabbit Kingdom are unknown…” continued Terrador.

“What about the Rabbit Kingdom? Any information on that place?” asked Spyro.

“Uhhh…Rabbit Kingdom, created 72nd year of the Fifth Age. Kingdom fell when the Fifth Age Great Cleansing happened. Remnants of the Rabbit Kingdom rebuilt, flourishing in the 8th year of the Sixth Age. Current location unknown. Presumed to have been destroyed in the Sixth Age Great Cleansing…” said Terrador.

“How have these books survived over these years? I mean, shouldn’t they have been wiped out over the ages by the Great Cleansings?” asked Sparx.

“Well…the guardians of each age preserve these books by magic. Some books, however, are destroyed and are unable to be retrieved,” replied Volteer.

“There is a single record of all history, however,” added Cyril.

“Who has that?” asked Hunter.

“Why it’s the Chronicler himself,” replied Terrador.

“The Chronicler has a record of everything that has happened in the past,” he added.

“Okay, now I know why. Back on track, who was Sky Guardian Dune?” asked Sparx.

“Dune…Dune…ah, here, Sky Guardian Dune, little is known about this being except that he was a Sky Guardian and that he allied with the Rabbits to banish Spiritus…” said Terrador.

“Hmmm…so it could have possibly been Spiritus who sent the golem to the hidden temple…but why?” wondered Spyro.

“Maybe he wanted to defeat you and take over the world but, seriously, how do we even know Spiritus still exists?” said Sparx.

“Well he was a black dragon that…that…what did he do?” wondered Cyril.

“Check in the book,” said Volteer.

Terrador combed the pages of the old book, stopping at a page with the heading “Spiritus’ Plot”.

“Spiritus’ Plot was a plot by Spiritus to take control of not only the planet, but even outside the boundaries of space. Spiritus gathered up the eight treasures, and combined their power, creating an ultimate weapon. Many kingdoms stood up to his demise but he eradicated them, leaving remnants to survive. Spiritus’ Plot was over turned when the purple dragon, Mira, sacrificed herself to remove Spiritus’ spreading darkness. Queen Selena, of the rabbits and Dune, of the Sky Guardians, allied together and crippled Spiritus’, banishing him to a flying fortress…” said Terrador.

“Well that was long…seems to me Spiritus could still be in that fortress,” said Sparx.

“Perhaps Queen Selena and her Rabbit Kingdom is still out there somewhere, waiting to be found…” said Spyro.

“I think we should continue researching tomorrow. We’re already well into the night,” said Cyril.

“Let’s go to sleep…” yawned Spyro.

Hunter, Spyro, Sparx and the guardians all went to their rooms to fall asleep. Spyro, however, was tossing and turning, thinking about what Terrador had told them from the book. Queen Selena, Sky Guardian Dune and Spiritus.

These thoughts were rolling in his mind, as well as Spiritus’ Plot. If that Plot were to happen again, would he, Spyro, sacrifice himself to stop it?

“Perhaps I should go to sleep…” muttered Spyro as he was thinking about what had been told earlier.

Spyro finally drifted off to sleep, as all the others had. They were all oblivious as to what would happen the next day…

Meanwhile…

“Ah, you’ve returned Bianca,” said Selena, the Queen of the Rabbits.

“Yes, my Queen,” replied the female rabbit, now known to be Bianca.

“What is the news on Spiritus?” asked Queen Selena.

“It seems he has been keeping an eye on the young purple dragon, your highness,” Bianca replied.

“It seems he is going to use our young purple dragon, Spyro I believe, in his plot,”

“I also heard that he had his two minions round up what remained of Malefor’s followers to launch an attack on the Dragon City, your highness,”

“It’s settled then. Bianca, you shall teleport to Warfang and inform that Queen Selena and her kingdom are moving to be situated next to the city,”

“Yes, my Queen,”

“Inform the inhabitants of the impending attack on Warfang as well,”

“Of course, my Queen,”

Bianca bowed and turned to walk outside the palace.

“Hmmm…looks like Warfang is too far to draw a portal to directly,” muttered Bianca.

“Looks like I’ll have to travel there by foot,” she continued.

Bianca set off, exiting the gates of the Rabbit Kingdom, on her way to inform the citizens of Warfang of the impending catastrophe.

Hunter, Spyro and Sparx woke up to a bright sunrise. They left the temple and went to Sheml to see how Cynder was faring.

“She’ll be fine,” insisted Sheml, turning around to look at Cynder, who was asleep.

“Okay…we’ll come back later to check again, goodbye,” replied Spyro.

“She just needs rest,” Said Sheml.

The group turned around and left Sheml residence. Thinking about what they should do, they went back to the temple to ask the guardians.

“Terrador has gone off to help continue the restoration of Warfang’s defences while Cyril had left to do an errand assigned to him,” informed Volteer, conversing with the group.

“Where do you reckon we should go?” asked Hunter.

“Perhaps you could do some exploring outside Warfang, just to chart the land,” suggested Volteer.

“I can come with you if you want, I haven’t got much to do around here…” he added.

“That would be great! We would have better chances of defeating grublins out there if Volteer was with us!” exclaimed Sparx.

“It’s settled then…I shall accompany you on our exploration!”

“Yes…allow us time to get ready though,” said Hunter.

“If you must…” replied Volteer.

The group left the temple to get ready for their exploration. They went to Rithu’s for him to look at the strength of their armour.

“Both your helmets are fine Spyro and Hunter but I’m afraid Cynder’s armour is damaged,” informed Rithu.

“Perhaps you could repair it,” said Spyro.

“I could but I just need some blue crystals since it has been found out by the Professor that they can be used to repair non-organic objects,” replied Rithu.

“Who’s the Professor?” asked Hunter.

“I am,” said an unknown voice.

The owner of the voice stepped out from his room. Now known as the Professor, he wore glasses like all moles and had greying hair, signifying his age.

“I’m a researcher here. I discovered that blue crystals have more than one use,” said the Professor.

“What is the other use for them?” asked Hunter.

“Upgrading our breath attacks,” informed Spyro.

“I don’t have breath attacks though…” muttered Hunter, “That would mean I can’t use them.”

“Well…I’m sure the Professor will find out another use for them, right Professor?” said Rithu.

“Of course, new things are discovered everyday!” said the Professor, “I should go back to my research.”

The Professor turned and went back into his room. Strange crackling noises were soon heard.

“I’ll leave the blue crystals we found in the temple and Cynder’s armour with you to repair,” said Hunter.

“Not a worry, I’ll have her armour fixed by the time you see me!” informed Rithu.

“Goodbye,” said Spyro.

The group walked through the streets of Warfang, back to the temple, where Volteer was waiting.

“I see you are ready now…ready to go?” asked Volteer.

“Yep, everything checked and ready!” exclaimed Sparx.

“Good, let’s be off,”

Spyro, Sparx, Hunter and Volteer exited the temple and walked outside the gates of Warfang. Hunter sat on Volteer’s back while the other three took flight into the wild blue yonder.

They were unaware that they would meet something along the way…

--------

In the meantime, at the Flying Fortress…

Spiritus stood, looking at a mirror, his red eyes staring intently.

“Aleer! Vulcan!” he called.

“Yesss Maasster,” replied Aleer, Vulcan nowhere to be seen.

“How is the rounding up going? And where’s Vulcan?” asked Spiritus.

“Vulcan isss teaashingg thee grublinss maannerss while wee’ve got aabout ann aarmy of two thoussand grublinnss,” replied Aleer, his snake voice more obvious.

“Good, continue searching for more grublins. The force should be ready in three days,”

“Of course Maasster,” replied Aleer before leaving.

“Hmmm…let’s see what is happening in the world currently,” said Spiritus, staring at mirrors that seem to appear out of nowhere.

After several moments, Spiritus spotted something that caught his interest.

“What’s this? A lone rabbit travelling in the direction of Warfang?” he wondered.

Hehehe…Queen Selena must have sent her. First here and now Warfang! Perhaps she knows of my impending attack on Warfang,” Spiritus continued.

“No matter, I shall send some of my warriors to intercept and defeat the messenger rabbit,” said Spiritus.

He turned around and formed a dark orb in his mouth. He shot the orb forward which split into three smaller orbs. Each orb began morphing into a creature of sorts. When complete, the creatures were reptilian in nature. They had varying moss coloured scales, wore grey vests and black armour. They appeared to be capable of bipedal and quadpedal stances.

“Here are your weapons, my Tarlei,” said Spiritus to the creatures, now known as Tarlei.

Each Tarlei was now holding a weapon that seemed to be capable of firing dangerous objects.

“Now…go find and silence the messenger rabbit,” informed Spiritus, looking at the Tarlei.

The Tarlei nodded and teleported, searching for the messenger rabbit known as Bianca.

Spiritus laughed, believing that resistances from his enemies would prove to be futile. He was, however, oblivious to the fact that his enemies are different now…

--------

Several hours later…

Spyro, Sparx, Hunter and Volteer had charted quite a fair amount of land outside Warfang. Rivers, lakes, forests, mountains…most had been charted by the group. They were about to turn back when Volteer spotted a moving figure in the distance, opposite the direction of Warfang.

“There’s something moving over there, should we go and check?” asked Volteer.

“Perhaps, yes we should,” replied Spyro, turning to look at the figure.

They walked closer to the figure but not in direct sight. Getting closer until the point that they found out creature it was.

“She’s…a female…rabbit,” said Hunter, his eyes fixed on her.

They continued keeping their eyes open until three figures teleported out of nowhere.

“Meh…hehe, why if it isn’t Selena’s little messenger,” said one of the creatures.

“You’re…you’re Tarlei,” replied the female rabbit.

Spyro, Sparx, Hunter and Volteer whispered to each other while the female rabbit and the so-called Tarlei were talking.

“Selena’s messenger? Does this mean Selena and the rabbits still exist?” asked Hunter quietly, out of earshot of the creatures called Tarlei.

“Seems to be, this is getting confusing though,” whispered Spyro.

“Let’s just listen to what they’re talking about,” whispered Sparx.

“Of course we are Tarlei, haven’t you ever seen one before?” said one of the Tarlei, circling the female rabbit.

“We’re here to defeat you, rabbit, the Master knows of your plans,” informed another Tarlei.

“It seems Spiritus is attempting to stop me…looks like I’ll fight back!” yelled the female rabbit.

“What a feisty little rabbit we have here,” joked one of the Tarlei.

“My name is not rabbit! My name is Bianca!” yelled the rabbit named Bianca.

The three Tarlei laughed at her before drawing their weapons out and readying their attacks.

“We’ve got to help her,” whispered Hunter, moving closer to see more clearly.

“Wait! Hunter!” whispered Spyro.

The Tarlei charged up their weapons, creating dark spheres of energy. Each Tarlei fired in succession, narrowly missing Bianca, who was jumping around the trees.

Hunter hid behind a bush, readying an arrow at one of the Tarlei. He let go and the arrow struck the Tarlei in the back, releasing copious amounts of a black liquid.

“Arrrrrrgh!” screamed the Tarlei, reeling under the pain but still standing.

“Come out! Show yourselves!” yelled the Tarlei.

Hunter jumped out and kicked one of the Tarlei in the face, knocking it over on it’s back. It soon got up though and began fighting Hunter one-on-one.
Bianca turned away and began fighting the other two Tarlei, intent on defeating them.

“We have to help them!” said Spyro as he got up and moved into the fight.

“I’ll just hide here for now,” muttered Sparx as Volteer followed Spyro.

Spyro jumped out into the open and charged one of the Tarlei in the back, throwing him into the other Tarlei, knocking them both over.

“Lookie here. It’s Spyro! Master wants him alive,” announced one of the Tarlei.

“Be careful on him then,” said another Tarlei.

“Volteer and I will take all of you on!” yelled Spyro.

Spyro charged up his Earth Missiles while Volteer began charging up a powerful Thunder Jolt. Spyro released his Earth Missile, aimed directly at one of the Tarlei. The Tarlei countered it, however, by firing his own dark sphere at Spyro. The two attacks struck each other, sending out waves of energy upon impact.

Volteer completely charged his Thunder Jolt and released it at the Tarlei, striking each one, effectively paralysing each of them for several minutes.

“Let’s combine our attacks on each of them!” yelled Volteer.

Hunter began firing arrows rapidly on one of the Tarlei while Spyro and Volteer sent powerful breath attacks onto another. Bianca, in the meantime, charged up her rabbit magic, forming a sparkling sphere of magic. She released it at the final Tarlei. Upon impact, the Tarlei was broken from paralysis but also thrown, by the power of the magic, across the area and into a tree.

The Tarlei thrown by Bianca’s magic staggered to get to his feet before slumping down and fading, releasing several red, green and blue crystals.

“Time to finish of the other two!” yelled Bianca, performing a spin-kick to one of the remaining Tarlei.

“Attack them!” yelled Hunter.

Spyro, Volteer and Bianca blasted the Tarlei with their magic while Hunter peppered them with arrows.

After several moments they stopped attacking, leaving the Tarlei crippled. Black liquid began oozing out from the Tarlei, who were struggling to get to their feet.

“We…will have…our revenge…Master will…create…more of…us…” managed one of the Tarlei.

“The plot…is inevitable…Master will rise…to the top…and everyone…else will wallow…in the…depths of…despair!” said the other Tarlei, grinning as he stared at Spyro.

“We’ll see about that!” remarked Sparx, coming out of his hiding place.

The Tarlei turned to look at Sparx, smiling, before they collapsed to the ground, releasing crystals as they faded.

“Tarlei…hmmm…interesting…” muttered Volteer.

“We should research what these Tarlei really are,” suggested Hunter.

“We’ll do that tomorrow,” said Spyro.

“In the meantime, Bianca, I presume?” asked Hunter, facing the rabbit named Bianca.

“Yes that’s me,” replied Bianca.

“Tell us, do the rabbits still exist in the world?” asked Volteer.

“Of course we still exist! What makes you think…what am I saying, there’s little time left!”

“Little time left? What are you talking about?” asked Spyro.

“I’ll talk about it as soon as we get moving to Warfang,” said Bianca, beckoning them to move along.

“Okay, okay, sheesh…so why do we have little time left?” asked Hunter, catching up to Bianca.

“When the Great Cleansing began but was stopped by Spyro, the evil dragon, Spiritus, was broken free from his magic restraints,” said Bianca.

“Spiritus…I know that name…in that book…Spiritus, the black dragon, banished to a flying fortress,” muttered Spyro.

“Exactly, I was sent to the fortress to spy on him, finding out that he is starting his plot again,” continued Bianca.

“Plot…is that the plot where Spiritus gathered up the eight treasures, trying to control not only the planet but even the boundaries of space?” asked Hunter, recalling what Terrador had read from the book.

“Indeed, you are correct, as I was saying; Spiritus is also planning to attack Warfang, perhaps in three days, two at earliest,”

“WHAT! Attack Warfang! We must hurry to inform the citizens then!” yelled Spyro.

“That’s why I said there was little time left!” yelled Bianca.

“We’ll fly there, Hunter and Bianca, sit on my back since you two can’t fly,” informed Volteer.

“We must hurry,” said Bianca as she was climbing onto Volteer’s back.

They flew towards Warfang quickly, as an attack on the city was fast approaching.

--------

Meanwhile, in the flying fortress…

“Seems like Spyro and his friends have defeated my Tarlei,” said Spiritus, watching them fly towards.

“No matter, let’s see how Warfang can cope with an attacking force,” he added, turning away from the mirror.

“Warfang has had attacks on it before, though, perhaps the dragons and the warrior moles will be able to defend the city again,” he pondered.

Lighting flashed and thunder rumbled outside Spiritus’ domain. He thought for a moment then started laughing, as if something new came to his mind.

“Perhaps the power of nature shall assist the attack,” said Spiritus, looking outside, where rain began to fall.

Spiritus laughed at this thought, as thunder rumbled in the dark storm clouds above his flying fortress…
