Club Nintendo is dead forever, everyone.

And no news about that new service.

I guess we should do the right thing and put this thread out of its misery in representing a dead service.

Well yup, unfortunately for Club Nintendo it's all over now. No point in leaving this open for longer, hopefully we hear about the new service soon.

EDIT: So as it turns out I forgot that NA Club Nintendo is weird/bad and that Europe's Club Nintendo is actually still up until the end of September. Sorry about that, looks like there's still reason for this to be open.

We understand that consumers who buy many download versions may not be fully convinced if all of these products cost more than the packaged versions. In the new membership service that we are now developing to replace “Club Nintendo,” we are thinking about providing a system where Nintendo can give (individual) offers to each consumer. I would like to explain the details when we have everything in place for the new membership service, which is targeted to launch this autumn.

It seems like the Club Nintendo replacement will entail discounts for digital games, but differentiated by consumer, based on gameplay history and interactions with other players.

It'd be cool to get, say, a discount on FE games for playing a lot of Awakening or something.
Though I hope the "interactions with other players" idea doesn't mean what I think it means. What if I have a friend who is interested in a couple different genres or game series then me? I really wouldn't care for a discount on Animal Crossing at all.

I don't see the problem?
I doubt it's based solely on that or that the dicsouns offered trump other discounts.

e: In fact I'd be surprised if it didn't offer discounts based on that just to get you to try out games you wouldn't otherwise.

Oh man, you have no idea how lucky i've gotten here. I had exactly 5250 stars so was pretty gutted i wouldn't be able to get the MM Lamp, but now i've got bang on 6000 (or will do within 24 hours apparently) and will hopefully be able to get it.

I'm not sure if I should redeem my Stars for the soundtrack that was recently added to the European catalogue or wait to see how the anticipated coin turns out. There haven't been any images of it released, have there? I don't expect to be able to afford both.

edit: I found a code for X. It's frustrating that games released long ago have yet to expire, while those released in the past year came with no codes or reduced registration periods. I bought Majora's Mask 3D on its release date in February, but the code expired at the end of March, unbeknownst to me. To add insult to injury, 150 Stars are due to expire on my account at the end of August, so I'll have to act fast.
