I'm not sure if this is in the right section of Miscellaneous. Feel free to move this thread if it isn't. The title of this thread might also be somewhat misleading, I suppose.
I'm the kind of person who does more communication over the internet compared to real life. This is mostly due to living in a barren country that's in desperate need of a blood transfusion (The Bahamas). So, I figured perhaps a more effective way of meeting people would be browsing around various forums and websites of my interests. There's a problem, though...
...I can't help but feel somewhat irritated at the sheer lack of originality in the users of it. By originality, I mean diversity in their method of speech, that is.
What I'm trying to say is, or ask at least - does it bore or possibly even irritate you when you're having a conversation with somebody and they just slap a bunch of random "memes" or lingo in most of their sentences? God forbid if it's emoticon spam too. I may be guilty of emotes or some of said "memes" from time to time, but definitely not in such excess with some of the friends I've known in cyberspace. On the rare occasions I do such things, it tends to fit the situation.
I'm one of those persons who don't exactly have the best tolerance for conformists. I don't expect everyone to lead, or be a radical departure from everyone else, but the "followers" are being seen everywhere and I wholeheartedly feel that the internet is heading backwards with the English-speaking user base (possibly multicultural as well) whom actively partake in this...method of "speech". It's fine in some cases, but talking to people who revolve around it couldn't get any more annoying. No, I don't have a stick up my rear end, It's just makes for a very bland person to communicate with from my past experiences.
I'm aware that people on the internet are usually different from their real life persona. This may be overgeneralizing as well, but is it really this fun to use phrases which are rarely even humorous? Was it really a cool story, bro - despite it not being a story? Were you really "disappoint" with me, father? No, I don't like Mudkips, thanks. The list goes on and on...
So yes, inevitable trolls; "I mad". I don't need that spammed multiple times in chat even after describing the situation, though. I feel that the internet may need a blood transfusion as well in the quality of it's users.
P.S: Does this post seem quite unclear? Good, that's my intention if it was. If it's too long; don't read it, I guess.
