Which character in your fic is your favourite to write about?

Hmm... Kind of a tough one. I really like writing for all of my characters, going deeper into who they are and what they think, and sometimes I end up discovering new sides to them as I write, which just makes it even more fun.

Well, I suppose one character that comes to mind that I really enjoy writing for would have to be Azure, a tomboyish Azurill/Marill who likes to fight and go on adventures. I think she's really fun to write for, and I find it easy to come up with some funny lines for her. I had her join up the main characters' rescue team earlier than I originally intended, but at that point in the story, I felt it was only natural to have her join the team sooner. Her personality also makes her more likely to act more impulsive than the other main characters, which can sometimes help move the story along if needed.

Another character I like to write for is Kala the Abra, a character who works at the rescue team headquarters, teleporting rescue teams to mystery dungeons that are far away. She's another character I think is really fun to write for, since she is almost never fully awake and tends to say some strange things in her sleep. She was a minor character at first, but got a slightly bigger role when I needed a character for something, and realized that Kala was the perfect candidate for the part.

Oh wow that's really tough...
But I think in my current Pokemon fic (Kyogre Blue) I really love writing Celebii. She's very sarcastic and sassy, borderline rude, but she just feels so fun to write. Of course, she's not all bad, she grew up in slums and has a lot of fighting experience. She'll defend someone if needed, but her sass is the most obvious thing.

As for my other main fic (A Hetalia fic called The Mirror) My favourite character to write is Chun-Yan. Despite the fact she's so short, she's very strong, and her emotions are hard to read.

I'm sorry for being so vague but I don't really know ehy I like writing them...

Miror B. AND NOBODY WAS SURPRISED.

But really, he is an easy answer. For those who don't know, Miror B is a character from Pokemon Colosseum and XD. And he's certainly quite the character! As my avatar shows, he has a Pokeball-themed afro. What it doesn't show is also his obsession with music and dancing, nor his Ludicolo army. He's a heck of a wacky character, but as I wrote a parody of a game he was in he just really fitted the style and idea well. A naturally fun character to begin with, and whenever a scene came up with him I knew exactly what to write and have him do. Besides, it was a good excuse to shove too many musical references as well. :V

In Dark Pawn, I have a character who is an insanely powerful demon from the dawn of what is vaguely recognized as humanity, one of the first homo sapiens in that world. Virtually immortal, incredibly powerful, completely insane and a slave to primal instincts make for the perfect blend of absolutely crazy. I've written a couple of chapters from his point of view, and it's always an interesting experiment to get into his head and explain the world as he sees it. I use clipped syntax, fairly simple vocabulary, and when it comes to describing the carnage he causes, doing so with utter dispassion and detachment. Honestly, one of my favorite scenes in Dark Pawn is when this character is tearing through the woods and brings down a deer with his bare hands.

So I guess, in short, he's not my favorite character, per say, but he's definitely my favorite to write for.

Er, I'm not technically a member yet but here goes:

Which character in your fic is your favorite to write about?

Well, for my current project I'm really enjoying writing for Yveltal and Dialga. Yveltal's snarky, sassy, and disobedient, while Dialga is stern, comically serious, and unafraid to exert his authority. Naturally, they don't get along.

There are some from future projects I'm looking forward to writing, but I'll wait until I'm officially a member before talking about those.

If you've ever read my fic, you'd know my answer without me telling you. For everyone else, the answer has to be my shiny Emolga, April, from TTL. She's sassy, quick-witted, and entirely self-absorbed in the most adorable ways. She'll still get serious in a pinch though, so she's still handy in battle! But I love planning her dialogue with the main character, Shane, who's a bit naive and a bit more stubborn in a non-obvious way. They clash beautifully. And by beautifully, I mean hilariously.

And with that, I think I'm caught up? If I forgot anyone, feel free to poke!

In the meantime, yes, peeps can totally throw out bold topics whenever they'd like! Have at it!

That said, just because I can't resist (and I don't like posting official business only anyway):

Which character in your fic is your favourite to write about?

Ha. Haha. HahahahahahahahaOH MAN.

Well, I could state the obvious and go with this guy because I’m a shameless fangirl, but that’s not a challenge. So let’s restrict this to OCs ... which would then exclude my second favorite, this girl, also largely because I’m a shameless fangirl. (But really, it's because both characters are geniuses but still very, very human, and I love exploring all the ways they are human. It also probably helps that Bill is a walking plot bunny farm thanks to the fact that I interpret his penchant for turning into non-human things canonically as a challenge to see how many shenanigans I can pull in the hilarious powers department. And Lanette serves as a fantastic straight man/Muggle Best Friend.)

I think out of all my OCs/technically OCs, I have the most fun writing Adam, the other main character of AEM … who happens to be an alien parasite. And I love writing it because it presents so many different challenges. For one thing, it’s meant to be secretive because a lot of how it thinks and what it’s doing is tied up in the plot, so right off the bat, it’s difficult to figure out how much to tell a reader when I try to write about it. Second, it’s also very formal and calculating, the kind of character who just will not be shaken by anything and will stop at nothing to get what it wants. On top of that, it’s also a highly intelligent creature, so it’s a lot of fun having it go back and forth with Bill, who is equally intelligent but also more controlled by his emotions. And finally, there’s the whole bit about how it’s literally and mentally alien, so it forces me to think outside the human-shaped box and try to figure out how to make Adam think if it doesn’t even bother with what we think of as basics of morality.

My second favorite character would probably have to be Thom, Wattson’s grandson. He originated waaaaaay back in the first version of the fic as this right *******, but he progressed into the role of a slacker in the next version by accident. (Idk. I just kinda wanted to do more with the concept that Wattson had a grandson, and he’s alive, well, and in the cast.) Then I just really started liking him in general, so I made him a main member of the cast in this version and tweaked his character slightly. He’s a bit of a chatterbox and unwaveringly upbeat (as he’s always been), but this time around, I really wanted to capture the sense that he’s a lot deeper and more powerful than he lets on. In reality, he’s pretty shaken about the invasion too, but he keeps it together because he knows someone has to, particularly given how trigger-happy Lanette is. He’s also patient, sweet, and actually pretty knowledgable about battle tactics but immensely humble about it. And it’s just so much fun writing him, not only because I love letting his mouth run off but also because he’s such a sweet and squishy character that I can’t even.

And then you have Raye, Bill’s little sister. It’s hard with her because she’s a traumatized little kid, so I’m really restricted in what emotions I can let her show (not to mention in how to portray her, given that I don’t want to create just a creepy kid or River Tam knock-off). But like Thom, I really wanted to get across that there’s something more about her, but in her case, it’s the fact that she’s actually pretty practical and intelligent—probably even the smartest one out of the group in terms of common sense. She’s also sweet and caring, but it’s really how much she tries to keep her brother from running off and doing something stupid that really makes her a fascinating character to work with. Because she tries and tries, but it’s the way her head is wired right now that prevents her from getting a coherent message across.

Idk, I just like a lot of characters.

Well, I suppose I am co-don here... feel free to stop me, Jax, if I spew stuff so incredibly wrong that it's embarrassing. It happens.

Oh, a question: Can I talk a bit about future ideas? At least in the context of the topic?

I assume you're talking about future ideas for your own fics? If that's the case, there are actually threads for that, sorta. As for talking about it here... no, well yes, but not really. :)

Generally, we don't want a discussion about single person's fic or fic ideas themselves. There's a general rule against advertising, etc, and that kind of stuff is generally not what people are here for. I suppose there's no harm in bringing something like that up to provide an example or to punctuate a point, but not much more.
However.
As you seen for the current topic, it's not taboo to talk about your own fic. But you have to do it in the context of a topic. So if you changed "At least in the context of the topic?" to "At least in the context of a topic?" then yes. You could potentially make a topic that asks authors if they have any interesting ideas they're plan on implementing into their stories. But this generally wont have a lot of back-and-forth dialogue.

tl;dr - You can create topics about future ideas, but not ones specifically about your future fic ideas.

Hello, can I please join?

Why you like fanfic/writing: I like writing and fanfic because it's a way to express myself. I can write about characters that I like in stories that I create. I'm not a great aritst, so I enjoy "contributing" to a fandom like this. (yeah, the advertisements for my fics in my signiture are not cool and artsy for that exact reason)

So, yeah, that's about it.

I'll do two 'paragraphs' because they're both rather short.
Spoiler'd mostly for, I dunno, organization? There's nothing spoilery here. *shrug* Just April being April.
I turned my head to glance at April, who seemed to be studying the stars herself. She noticed that I was looking at her and raised an eyebrow.

"Do you have a question? If not, you can keep staring at me. I know how good my coat looks in the moonlight." She winked at me.

Hell, can I join? I love writing fanfictions.

Why you like fanfic/writing: I like writing fanfictions because it is something I enjoy, to put it simply. I started writing a while ago and although it can be very time consuming, I just have a lot of fun whenever I'm writing something new and I love being really evil to certain characters whenever I'm in a bad mood, it's fun to put them through and survive, it just really is haha

Yeah, that's about it.

You got it~

Korolev let out a sigh as he unpacked three bowling pins from his bag. There were times where he wished that he had other skills to help him find other lines of work. It wasn’t that he hated his current job; as a matter of fact, he loved to perform tricks in front of anyone who took the time to watch. But with all of the bigger cities like Lumiose starting to crack down on performers in the streets and the general mistrust of immigrants, the man was having a tough time finding any line of work. Even the jobs that few people wanted were more likely to go to a Kalos native than someone who was not born in the region, even if the latter was more qualified.

Well okay.

She honestly had such a great time traveling with her friends and she had Ash to thank for that. If she never saw him on the TV that one day, she never would have left home and she never would have become a Pokemon Trainer. She never would have become such good friends with her Fennekin. And she never would have had so many exciting adventures during her journey.

This is from an Amourshipping one shot that I've been writing.

Probably the paragraph I had the most fun writing, if only because of the implied question brought up by the third sentence.

So this was it. He was going to die. Bill had to admit that death by volcano was not quite the way he had expected he would go, but then again, life had a strange way of playing out. It never went the way one planned, and he knew that. He knew that oh so well for a variety of reasons, the least of which was the fact that he was going to die in the body of a half-alien mutant.

Ooh, can I join? I'm a fanfiction author myself.

Why you like fanfic/writing: I enjoy it, to put it simply haha also, it is a form of creative writing in my opinion. I always have these ideas flying around my head and I do enjoy writing them out so people can see what it is I'm writing too.

I don't know what more I can say on this subject.

I have not started anything recently, I have not had the time to write much lately with school, you know?

So can I use a paragraph from something that I have already written?

Well, I haven't gotten too far with the first draft of chapter 38 of Reflecting Balance yet, but I suppose I can share a little something from what I've got so far.

Pandora just remained silent for a few moments, before somberly nodding her head and letting go of Cassandra’s arm. Pandora nervously watched as Cassandra went to address the crowd.

A paragraph from the latest chapter, huh? How about this one from my fanfic Pokemon Myster Dungeon: Explorers of Memories chpater 7

A cluster of Sableye were standing outside in the courtyard. They were snickering and talking about something that seemed to please them. They immediately stopped when they spotted me. I felt their gem-like eyes boring into me. I shifted my hands around in the ropes out of awkwardness. One of them put its hand on my right arm and escorted me to the middle of the courtyard where the three columns stood. My heart pounded since I could guess what came next.
