Are there any genres you like to read/watch/play and/or write in outside of Pokemon? If so, do they ever leak into your Pokemon stories?
I... might be the only one who -doesn't- read fantasy here (though I did read a few for the multiple first person POV technique once upon a time). I much prefer memoirs, experimental fiction, poetry, contemporary fiction and so on. Also, for video games I prefer story-based gameplay. I've played every visual novel I know about by this point.
I used to be told that my writing style was too "poetic" for fiction. It wasn't quite what I was going for, so I toned that down and managed to find my fiction voice, so to speak. Since then it's only really appeared when I tried writing LaON in third person, which made me promptly switch to first person. I also find that memoirs give me a lot of ideas, since the memoirs I read offer first hand accounts of psychology topics I'm interested in.
Have you ever tried/want to write some other fandom besides Pokémon?
Er, yes. I've written for LOST, Ace Attorney, One Piece, Tsubasa and a ton more. There was a 1-2 year time period during which all I did was write short drabbles for varying fandoms. Good practice, poor execution and I'm quite ashamed.
