The Fangking's Johto Remake

Today, we is starting with Goldenrod City



Some of the resources are my own edits, all standard rips are from FRLG, ripped by myself, Mateo is to credit for the first version of the Train Station which I modificated to make it blend more with a FRLG style, others (the main style of building) came from the Pokémon Platinum Project board (I am assisting the project), but I took the liberty of adding an extra roof style and some additional tiles for more variation in building types and sizes. Overall, I'm pleased with the look of this and I just about stuck to the exact design of Goldenrod (the flower shop thingy has its Crystal position instead of Gold/Silver due to it being more "convenient") but giving it that more "loose" FRLG mapping style rather than everything being packed tightly together.

Mateo designed the Dancing theater FROM SCRATCH and Fangking finished its colouring and shape, Towers by me using ideas from Cuddles (just the cracky wall pattern again), the building to the Tin Tower by me, bottom half of building with orange roof from Platinum Project, brown rooves from Platinum, the rest by me or Nintendo.

I'm desperately pleased with Mateo's Theater. I fixed the roof shape and colouring so it fitted in perfectly, and now it's one of our favourite works. The Burned Tower is probably my personal favourite piece I've done by myself, it actually looks... burned! Believe it or not, only 18 colours are used in that building despite the level of detail.

Nice, nice, these are both very well done. I like the fact that you kept headbutt trees, Griridiron didn't when he started ... amazing maps dude keep it up.

But these are extremely well done, probably some of the best done on the forum. You have nice color choices, and they are all very accurate in general. But I didn't even know there was water on the west side of goldenrod city. Have I not played GSC in that long?

Ah, Fangking Omega, good to see you here! You probably recognize my name, but not my avatar (stupid Imageshack, not letting me load my avatar).

Anyway, repeating what I said at Project Platinum (and if I didn't say it there, I'll say it here), very good revamps!

Platinum are still contesting the use of Headbutt trees, but I'm just showing them my ideas. How much they use them or not is up to them. My mapping style is obviously going to differ to everyone else's, I just feel my style is among the least messy...

A lot of mappers try to keep remakes exactly the original sizes of the GSC ones, which is not the good thing to do. It can look ugly, as FRLG graphics were not made for those kinds of proportions... It is best to expand as FRLG did, because it still looks like the same location, only muchly advancified in the most pwnage of ways.

Onto the issue of routes.... and anything else for that matter... all of Johto is being recreated.

Since Fang hasn't answered yet, I'll tell you, he is the guy working on Acanthite. Can't you tell by his 1337 mapping skillz? These are to be used in it I believe..I'm not sure if he said Johto was in it. If not, for Project Platinum and Pokemon Treasures.
