The Fire-ring Squad!

On their way to Goldenrod, Ash & Co. come across a fire fighting contest. He is eager to enter but while there he sees Cpt. Aiden and his Wartortle Squad and his old friends the Squirtle Squad. The Squirtle Squad however are having difficulty co-ordinating so its up to Ash's Squirtle to solve things. Can he do it?

What I never understood about this episode is why did Ash use Misty's Psyduck to help put out fires? It doesn't know any Water type attacks! It just stood there and when it did do something it got hurt!!

It was sad when Squirtle left and there were all the flashbacks *sniff*. The first ep I ever saw was "Here Comes The Squirtle Squad".

Squirtle is my favourite pokemon ever, he left Ash's party in that episode and I think that's the best thing he could have done, because Ash doesn't deserve that Squirtle, he's too good for him :p. However I didn't want Squirtle out of the anime

It's too bad that Ash got rid of Squirtle, but at least we've seen him again since. I'm glad that Ash didn't let another long-term pokemon of his go again until Bulbasaur in season five. It was good seeing Captain Adan and the wartortles, and the Squirtle Squad, again. Seeing characters come back from previous episodes is always a treat (I wish they'd do more of that in the current Japan season!!!).

On the negative side, this episode reminds me just how much the dub announcer really ANNOYS me. :p Not the narrator (I've liked them both), the stadium guy.

Yeah Ted Lewis does do a ordinary job of the announcer role, but I'm so used to it now that I wouldn't want it to change.

It was a bit of odd episode this one, I was suprised Ash somehow recognised the Squirtle squad considering that they looked like an ordinary bunch of Squirtle's. I suppose the fact that they were Officer Jenny hinted it but even they look all the same.

It was enjoyable nonetheless since the tournament wasn't really all that serious and most of what was competitive was light-hearted and funny, like Psyduck getting roasted and doing pratically nothing as usual.

It was really sad to see Ash let Squirtle be with his squad. But there was no other way seeing that squad easily fell apart without their leader. Even Ash understood about it.

Man. Squirtle was always my favorite of Ash's team, and seeing him shake kands with Bulbasaur as a goodbye was heartbreaking! I remember hearing Ash was going to release Squirtle and getting really upset, because he had just gotten rid of his awesome Charizard! This only happened so he could get that worthless and lame shiny Noctowl you know. At least Ash can always call for Squirtle when he needs it. Too bad Ash will probably never claim it back as his own.

A excellent episode it's sad to see Squirtle go since he was a favorite of mine but I think it's for the best since it allows Ash to come up with new strategies with the new pokemon he gets instead of relying on his old ones for back up most of the time.

Yeah, ok!
Oh gosh, I just watched this episode and totally forgot Capt. Aiden from the Orange Islands returned with the Wartortle team. Man, that shocked me since I had totally forgotten.

Squirtle's goodbye episode is a really good one. Sad thing is after this is when Johto starts to go to hell.

Why is it as soon as the Kanto team is split up the Johto saga turns into a trainwreck? Call me bias, but there was something magical about Bulbasaur/Squirtle/Charizard that they even made early Johto worth watching.

I have returned.....
So, Ash saw a Wartortle and it's part of a Wartortle Squad. Too bad Ash returned the Squirtle to Officer Jenny's Squirtle Squad.

I was a bit dubious about this episode when I saw it, since it wasn't too far off from when Ash had let his Charizard go, and it seemed to me that the writers were just manufacturing excuses to get rid of as many members of Ash's present team as possible in order to make room for the newer Johto pokemon (the really glaring thing being that Ash's pokemon-catching pattern in Johto proved to be pretty much a carbon copy of that of Kanto - the grass, fire and water starters for that particular region, a bug type which was good as dropped fairly early on, and a normal/flying type, whose only real distinction was being a shiny). Without having read any spoilers in advance, I knew the second that the rest of the old Squirtle Squad showed up that Squirtle would be on his way out too. I'm actually surprised that Ash wound up keeping Bulbasaur with him for as long as he did. That said, it was nice that this episode acknowledged the special kinship that Squirtle had shared with Bulbasaur in particular for all that time (it was touching when they said their goodbyes), and on the plus side, Charizard and Squirtle didn't end up falling off the face of the Earth after their respective farewells, the way that Butterfree, Primeape and Pidgeot all did.

Even though this was a good episode i didnt liked idea of another member of Ashs team leaving(in this case Squirtle) after his Charizard left.It seemed like every past member of Ashs team except Pikachu which he had is going to leave in Johto(Oh wait this did happened).

Anyway it was nice seeing capt.Aiden being back with his Wartortle squad along with Squirtle squad. It was sad seeing Ashs Squirtle leaving but on the other hand it was understandable why he had to go.Squirtle squad needed him. There is just one thing little bit surprising in this episode and that was Ash using Mistys Psyduck to put out fires?Because of certain circumstances this pokemon wasnt the right one for this situation, despite being the water one, lol.
