At least he's with the Squirtle Squad. I wish that Squirtle came back to Ash permanently after the Johto League. He hasn't been seen since the Battle Frontier aside from a brief cameo in SM (glad to know they're around Oaks) Ash should bring back Squirtle for Journeys.

I have a new hashtag to use. #BringBackSquirtle

Sad that two out of my top three favorite Ash Pokémon got released.

It wasn't really confirmed squirtle is staying at oaks, rotom was going all around Kanto to fill his Dex and happened to ran into squirtle. If he was at oaks he would have been in journeys with the other two Kanto starters, in the writers mind he probably isn't at oaks lab still
