The Future of the World Championships

We are so back Zygardebros
Especially since it’s a tournament, I’d rather not see Ash use his JN team in every battle. I don’t think I’d be satisfied unless I see Infernape VS Garchomp after all these years
Exactly. It should be handled like BF or the Sinnoh League where it’s a constant rotation but the JN team gets the majority of screentime (especially off screen but that’s a dead horse at this point). In past series the reserves returned to hint at them being used in the future so all we can do is hope they aren’t just cameos

Maybe until the Master Class and then he uses reserves?

That would be the best case scenario but it also undermines his current team. They should have used reserves since the first episode instead of giving him a new team.
I know, but too late for that

Was typing a reply but @Morax said it perfectly. This is the best time for him to use his reserves but the JN team is already suffering from lack of consistency so they’d probably be quickly overshadowed. Personally I would’ve given him a couple of Galar Pokémon as his “main team” for obvious Gen 8 promotion but cycle them occasionally for battles

What is the airspeed of an unladen Swellow?
For that we have ash dragonite but just kidding on more serious note though ash should use his reserves maybe call charizard for that battle
Time to bring back Ash-Greninja. And hope those merch leaks about a Mega Lucario are accurate.

Ash did use his reserves during the original Sinnoh League, and this series will have a lot of Sinnoh tie-ins for BDSP…

So there is hope that the writers will have Ash rotate in his reserves for the Masters 8 as a callback to the original Sinnoh League.

Yeah after today's battle I don't think I can handle him spamming his p.m. team for two and a half years.

I'd happily agree with this if Ash's JN team got a good amount of focus on and off the battlefield prior but obviously they haven't and I'm sure everyone here knows why by now but my point is using reserves, while cool, would bug me because they haven't given nearly enough time to the JN team for me to be fully okay with them taking a back seat for older Pokémon to return

Exactly what I’m saying. I’d be ok with it but the JN team team needs every chance of screentime they can get it. If they incorporated them better then I’d be ok with it but for now I’m ok with the JN team being the sole focus of attention

Ash jn team and their training don't get that much focus on screen anymore. Usually it's about a filler, quick capture or go's goal. In hoenn and sinnoh Ash and dawn and Ash and may got decent amount of training time. Ash in jn has not. His team should be stronger without having to rely on using Pikachu. It's exciting to see how his future battles go

What if the Masters 8 trainers have something to do with Ash's current team typings, except for Pikachu.
Pikachu stars against Leon and his Charizard
Lucario stars against Raihan and his Duraludon
Dracovish stars against Lance and his Gyarados
Sirfetch'd stars against Bea (Or another fighting specialist)
Dragonite stars against Cynthia and her Garchomp.
Lucario is going to star against Bea since it has a rivalry going with Grapploct that isn’t going to change.

So Ash is finally going to fight her... the day we've all been waiting for. Will it live up to the hype? Will it fall flat? Does it actually make sense for Ash to do well against Cynthia considering how little his Pokemon fight? Guess we'll find out.

Best of both worlds if Ash mixing older teammates with the new team
