The generation with the most balanced metagame

KyogreThunder

I'm pretty sure the Generation IV metagame was the most balanced one. The first three generations are out of question, since there was no physical/special split yet, and the power creep that continues to that day rules out the Generation V+ metagames. Sure, Generation IV did introduce one of the most overpowered moves in Stealth Rock, but the metagame itself did not gain a massive power boost like it did in Generation V.
Your thoughts?

I'd say Gen 3 was the most balanced one, almost every Pokemon was usable. While Gen 5 had weather wars, Gen 4 had the Garchomp wars where Garchomp was almost always a must-have on any team as it powercreeped so many Pokemon and by extension, you should always expect teams with popular Garchomp counters like Weavile, Latias or Salamence.

I enjoyed Gen IV so much. EV's/IV's weren't the prominent feature; or to say much harder to figure out for an average player, and non-reusable TMs resulted having different movepools. It was hard to figure out a clear winner based on the team match-up.

Also, I had a blast in Gen VI before ORAS' release.
