The Grand Festival RPG

HB5squared

I'm Back
Welcome all to the grand festival! Please direct yourselves to either one of the hundreds of seats surrounding us, if you are a spectator. Alternatively, if you are a coordinator who has applied, go backstage to the bench area where you will wait for me to call your name for the appeal round.

Round 1

Please use the best description you can, to describe the appeal round for your pokemon. For this round, you can either use your cool or beauty pokemon to make your wonderful appeal.

Notes-What we could get out of it was "ok", just ok. Nothing extraordinary. Your marks are mainly low because of your poor spelling, which affects the description. It sounded like you didn't know how to speak english. If you don't then, well, it still wasn't that good.

Spelling 3.5/5
Description 8/10

Spelling 4.5/5
Description 7/10
flow of attacks 10/10

Spelling 3.5/5
Description 6/10
flow of attacks 9/10
realism 5/5
Xfactor 6/10

Xfactor 10/10
Total-40/40
Notes-Your marks reflect a perfect score but to us it seemed sort of pretty. When we associate the word 'cool' and 'pretty colors' it makes us seem stupid. This should be taken into consideration for your next appeal!

Xfactor 8/10
Total-31.5/40
Notes-Firing a hyper beam at yourself and surviving with a rose in your hand was unrealistic. You were made to win this competition we can tell by the way you present yourself, but being unrealistic isn't a good thing...

Evan walked into the audience in order to spectate. "Finally. The Grand Festival Contest...I've trained and trained...now I shall REALLY test my skills!" Evan thought, looking down to his belt to eye his Pokeballs. "Zangoose, Swampert, Mightyena, Nuzleaf and Beautifly...a perfect team, if I do say so myself." Evan gave a sharp stare to anyone who was around him, and convincingly shrugged. "Let's get the festival started, fair and square, shall we?" Evan thought over letting his Pokemon out for a breath of fresh air, but wanted to see what he was up against, along with the Pokemon fitting that catagory. He just adjusted his glasses, coughed roughly, and took his seat at the coordinater table.

"Pharros!"

"Yeah, Yeah, Ray. It's not our turn yet." Luna said soothingly to an Ampharos that stood erect in front of her. She was adjusting a red piece of cloth that was tied interestingly around the striped neck of her first pokemon. Ray swayed back and forth, as his trainer made a small adjustment with the cloth.

Luna withdrew her hands, "There. You know, it's hard to do that when you're swaying like that." she chuckled. Ray gave another long "Phhaaros!" and allowed the light on his tail to shine brightly, almost blinding his trainer and some other Coordinators that were around. "Ampharos!"

"Calm down Ray. You'll need to blind the Judges with your brilliant preformance, not me!" Luna said, she sounded a little less humorous. Her Ampharos let its tail bulb grow a bit dimmer and gave another long "Phaaros!". Luna smiled sheepishly as an annoyed Coordinator walked by.

Fiddling with her Moon necklace, Luna walked into the benched area for the Coordinators. Ray followed closely behind, swinging his tail side to side.

‘First one up.’ Robbie thought to himself, as he took out a pokeball that had a blue sticker on it. He fixed his striped t-shirt, which was specially cleaned for today, the blue sticker on his red and white orb, matched some of the stripes.

He let out a deep sigh and looked up at his crowed. “Go ledian!” He called out as the pokeball flew up into the air. A small, red and white flash occurred and a small humanoid ladybug was born. It had four skinny arms that each had a white glove-like hand. Each hand waved in every which direction as the crowed cheered lightly. The applause died down as Ledian’s wings opened and it fluttered off the ground.

“Ledian, use a psybeam attack into the sky while twirling! Then use silver wind, as we practiced! ” Robbie commanded as he pointed out towards his fluttering pokemon.

The ladybug pokemon began to twirl around at an admirable speed. As it did so, a wave of purple psychic energy filled the air above it. The waves all began to twist and turn together making a weird pattern of circular twist and turns. The bug pokemon continued to twirl but the psychic energy stopped. Instead of the purple waves coming out of it, powdery dust emitted from under its wings. The dust went upwards towards the psybeam and they collided making a firework-like explosion. Shades of purple filled the sky as ledian took a bow between the explosions.

“I hope we did good,” Robbie said to his Ledian, as it flew back down to him.

“Led,” The pokemon said contently as it waved once more to its cheering fans.

Evan quickly reached for his belt, whipped out a Pokeball with a small blue ribbon on it, and tossed it behind him. From the light that came out of the Pokeball, a Nuzleaf emerged, and climbed onto an open seat next to Evan, as Evan pointed directly foward at Ledian's appeal. "Y'see, Nuzleaf? Beautiful, isn't it?" he asked the imp Pokemon. The Nuzleaf gave a quirky nod and gave a big grin to Evan, as Evan reached for his belt again.

"Assumingly so, it will be cool and beauty appeals for this round..." Evan whipped out another Pokeball with a red ribbon on it and threw it up right into the air. The flash from the orb landed in the seat left of Evan, and a determined looking Zangoose took a lazy seat, growling feircley as to ask what may have been happening. Evan didn't bother to point at the appealing duo, but just gave Zangoose a pat on the head and a slow nod, as if to assure things where going well, and Zangoose crossed his arms in some sort of relief, giving a small smile to the main stage, probably thinking he would do a good job on this.

Nuzleaf, on the other hand, have a nervous shrug, indicating he would just watch instead of appealing for that round. Zangoose looked over at the imp Pokemon dedicated to Beauty Contests, and Zangoose gave a wink of his own eye. Nuzleaf showed a sign of appreciation, and watched the appeals once again.

Leslie strode up to the door to the backstage area. "Well, here goes nothing. I wonder who might be back there..." She sighed and pushed open the door. Around her, coordinators prepared their prize Pokémon for the contest ahead.

Leslie took a quick glance at the bulletin and noticed her name was in blue. "So... I'm doing beauty, eh? Well then, time to give Hydra a stretch break..." She took out a ball imprinted with strange, dark blue symbols and released a long, darkly shaded Dragonair. It yawned and blinked, moving its serphentine body about.

The Dragonair, Hydra Darkhue, flicked her head up at Leslie and mumbled something in her language. Leslie loosely interpreted it to be: "So... another contest..." but she couldn't be sure. Instead she just nodded and allowed Hydra to groom her feathery wings.

"It's time to watch the appeal. Come on." Leslie gently urged the dragon. They went to a bench on the side of the arena and watched the first appeal.

Evan looked at Lesie and her Dragonair with a sharp grin, as Nuzleaf started in amazment and Zangoose just grunted, giving a short time to look at Hydra. "Impressive Pokemon right there..." Evan thought aloud, directing the comment to Lesie, as Nuzleaf continued to watch the Dragonair groom itself. Zangoose, on the other hand, was looking around for other Pokemon who would meat his standards in the Coolness Catagory.

Evan, who had gotten urged enough, sent out his remaining three Pokemon, all from Pokeballs of which appealed with ribbons of pink, green, and yellow.

Out of the one with the pink ribbon jumped a male Swampert, of which took his time to blink his luminous orange eyes and take a quick look around. The Swampert had a cute look in his eyes as if he was ready to appeal. "Swamp!" the blue Pokemon cried cheerfully, standing on it's hind legs behind Evan.

The second Pokeball released an intellegent looking Beautifly, who had mainly perched on Evan's head and stretched her tired wings, a small amount of grey glitter shaking off of them. "Fly..." the Pokemon simply said, fluttering onto Evan's left shoulder next to Nuzleaf.

Evan's tough Pokemon had emerged last; an extremly tough looking female Mightyena, who gave a distinct smile, teeth baring, as she gave a small howl, sitting on the floor in front of Zangoose's feet. It growled to show it's comfort and andamance.

All Evan did now was let his Pokemon do what they wanted for the current time, with the acception of them getting in trouble, but they all seemed to remain with their trainer. All stared at the stage with satasfaction, with the acception of Zangoose, who looked around a tad more.

Leslie smiled at Evan and nodded. He was going to be the competition... all of his Pokémon came out. Thinking that was a good idea, Leslie threw a few odd Pokéballs up and allowed her four other Pokémon to come out.

First came an exitable Salamence that bore a red ribbon. She yawned and scratched an itch idly. Next up came a Linoone with a pink ribbon, which immediately cuddled up under Leslie's feet. This Pokémon, Seria, started to chatter her head away to Wish, the Salamence, who just listened until she could say something.

An Ivysaur called Flora emerged next, green ribbon shimmering as it sat beside Hydra. It wasn't thrilled, but it didn't seem to care. Its eyes contained an intelligent feel, showing her as Leslie's smart competitor.

Lastly, and most reluctantly, came a Snesal picking at her yellow ribbon. This tough competitor, Hailstorm, was completely unenthusiastic and seemed to just want to get on with things.

Leslie shook her head at Hailstorm and looked around. Slowly but surely the coordinators were filing in. Ledian's appeal was impressive; Leslie gritted her teeth and hoped that Hydra could do better.

Evan smiled at the sight of these Pokemon. "Quite the impressive group right there, if I do say so myself!" Evan commented. Each of his Pokemon shifted a certain kind of attention to the opposing Pokemon in the same catagory of contest. "So...I assume you've been in many contests before?" he asked Lesie.

Zangoose took a sharp glare at Lesie's Salamence, Wish, showing his rock hard fangs. "Zang!" the Pokemon grunted, putting one hand into a fist whilist the other scratched his head. Assumingly, Evan's Zangoose was showing a sign of either interest, competitive taunt, or probably just both.

Nuzleaf continued to admire Hydra's beauty. Of course he was jelous; Nuzleaf didn't appeal to well with looks, being an impish Pokemon, but some of his moves gave off general beauty.

Swampert looked at Seria, leaning over the back of Evan's seat just to get a good enough look. Swampert growled cutley, showing some sign of remembering the fact he had once been partnered up with Evan's old Linoone of which never entered the contest, so Swampert figured this Linoone would be a good competition.

Beautifly just looked at Flora, briefly considering the fact the Ivysaur could possibly be as smart as herself. Beautifly decided the best way to find out was to flutter down near Flora and give a kind wave of the hand.

Mightyena leered at Hailstorm, simply thinking that the Sneasel would be self centered, and assumed the battling part of the contests would be a sinch going against her. "Yeeeenaaa." Mightyena yawned quite loudly, keeping her gaze on Hailstorm.

Evan took a quick second to think about his appeal with Zangoose. He considered a move of pure power would make many members of the male persuasion cheer their heads off, but he had to consider the attempt of a good beauty appeal.

Arjuné, in all of his eye stingly bright green glory, strolled confidently backstage. His pokeballs, each with a ribbon affixed to it, hung on belt, and reflected in the bright stage lights. Arjuné himself was rather calm, with a grin on his face. He looked to his peers in his presence with a grin of promise on his face. He was happier now, that he could see his seemingly skilled competition. It gave him drive, to push himself towards betterment.

He waited patiently, trying to contain himself. He'd like to hold off on any "sudden outbursts", at least as long as possible, so he kept well to himself. He began to think over which pokemon he would be beginning with.

Luna sighed as she watched some Coordinators release their pokemon. It would be a difficult contest, that was for sure. Absentmindedly, she took a Moon Ball off her belt that had a Green Ribbon attatched to it and started to roll it around between her fingers.

Ray, however, was looking at all the other pokemon with extreme intrest. His eyes particularly were set on a Zangoose not to far away. The pokemon sported a red ribbon, just like Ray who had it attatched to his red cloth.

The monitor finished a replay of a Coordinator named Robert with a Ledian in the Coordinator Lounge. Luna watched a portion of the preformance before returning her attention to her Moon Ball.

Leslie nodded to Evan. "Plenty enough." She said, keeping small talk. "It's a hobby that kinda eats up time. These Pokémon can fight, too." She spoke slyly, knowing that it was perfectly true. They had each fought a fair share of hard battles.

Wish watched the Zangoose with increasing curiousity. What an odd thing. She spoke in a confident, carefree tone. "I guess we're against each other. You look like a challenge... that's always good." Wish was always the competitive type.

Hydra looked up at the Nuzleaf. Her violet eyes sparkled when she looked at it, making for a bit of confusion. "You have inner beauty, I see. We'll have to see what happens." Opposite Wish, she had never been particularly competitive.

Seria growled back at the Swampert, eying it. "You are a cutie, aren't you?" Just like her, so... flirty. Next to her, Flora waved a vine idily back at the Beautifly. Words were not needed for their conversation.

Hailstorm slited her cold eyes to the Mightyena. She scoffed and sharpened her claws, not caring to take up conversation.

Jason ran into the Contest Hall. He was late. He looked at the stage and sighed. It wasn't his turn yet. A co-ordinator named Robert and his ledian was just finished, it was going to be a long time until his turn. Jason sighed looked around. There were many spectacular pokemon, some were cute, others were breath-takingly beautiful and some were just plain cool. “This is going to be a tough call,” Jason muttered to himself.

A girl named Luna and her Ampharos were standing near a wall. Jason smiled and sighed in relief that there were many people of his age and size around here. He walked towards where Luna was. He then stood right next to her, and released his pokemon in charge of the Beauty Contests, his Ninetales. Jason patted Tales as he bit his lip.

“These people look really confident, they don’t even look as nervous as I am. At least that strange guy who looks like Juan is,” Jason muttered. His Ninetales purred lightly in concern. Jason hushed his Ninetales and he looked at his other pokeballs and began thinking of strategies as his turn to appeal inevitably came closer…

"Likewise. Likewise..." Evan said with a grin. "Battles are my specialty...but I didn't ever catch your name, and it would be rude for me not to introduce myself, wouldn't it?" Evan held his hand out. "Evan R.W, glad to be meetin' you."

Zangoose gave an even sharper smile to Wish. "Yeah, yeah...you're cool and all, but at least I have my ways..." Zangoose said in his own dialect, of which sounded like he was more of a tough Pokemon then a cool one. "Regardless, I'll win, and you know it." Zangoose lazily sharpened his claws for the time being, looking around once more, and spotting Ray the Ampharos. Eyeing the electric Pokemon, Zangoose gave a slight chuckle, but his face was adjusted to a casual look. "Interesting. It gets even more like that." Zangoose muttered.

Nuzleaf nodded to Hydra, though he had figured that he'd be off better by thinking about how his moves went together in order to make a stunning appeal, but he looked over at Ninetails for a breif moment, trying to decide which one he would pay more attention to.

Swampert smiled back, with a bit of shyness in his eyes. "Well, not many people will consider my nature to be cute, but I am in the Cute Contest..." he growled back. "Naturally, we'll just have to give it our best shot, wont we?"

Beautifly nodded, seeing as the Ivysaur obviously didn't seem to want too much of a conversation, though Beautifly asked the simple question; "You must be in the smart catagory, no?" she asked, fluttering her wings.

Mightyena was probably the least likley to strike up a conversation into flame, but she simply gave a toothy smile. "Self-centered, careless, lazy...yup, you're tough, alright." the dog Pokemon said to Hailstorm before letting out a loud chortle. "But still; you know pretty darn well that I'll win in THIS catagory!" Mightyena lay down on the floor with a big grin as she tried to get some decent rest.

"Zangoose, you're going to be the pokemon used for appeal stage one, is that ok?" Hisakta asked her Zangoose. Zangoose nodded and let out a cry of "Zan Zan". Hisakata smiled, she thought she had made the right choice, but she knew that her Vaporeon had more beautiful moves than Zangoose had cool ones. "But then again..." she said to herself "We have a combo which just can't fail..."

Hisakata entered back stage, where she released Vaporeon as she started to think about her pokemons move set. "There are more combo's to think of other than our signature one" she told her pokemon. "We've got to think of another combo atleast... Here" she said, fishing into her pockets and pulling out a technical machine box, and activating it on her pokemon. The disc she had placed on her creatures for head began to spin round, and after a minute or two, it let out a flash of white, and Hisakata pulled it off of her pokemons for head. In the middle of the disc was a small plastic container, which she withdrew from it, and placed it in her pocket once more. "Here, let me just find our bowl, and I'll give you some tasty pokeblock, okay?" she asked as her Vaporeon nodded in approval. Hisakata reached for her bag, and took it from her back gently, and placed it infront of her as she began to dig through it. Finally, with a triumphant smile she brought the bowl out from her back, along with a sack of pokeblocks, designed for her creatures nature and for her speciality in beauty. Opening the tube from the cd, she sprinkled some dust from it onto the food and the Vaporeon began to munch away "Well done in learning your new move my friend..."

Hisakata flicked her hair in bordom, she was too tired after the long trip, and just sighed in hunger and boredom, as she awaited to talk to anyone who spoke to her.

Jay came rushing into the waiting room.
"Manyula!" he called as a pokeball opened.
"You're going first!"
"Yula!" Cried Manyula
"Well, It's not our turn yet so we'll have to wait. There's still 12 more people, then It's us." said Jay

Robbie has finished his appeal, but what will his scores be?

For all upcoming coordinators, you may use either a cool or beauty pokemon for this round. It is your decision!

Also, would Sakai please take the stage, it is now your turn to appeal.

Evan continued to have a small conversation with Lesie. "I can't say I've been in many contests myself; I just want the recongition I need to enter the contest. I've always been interested it what moves the Pokemon have when they enter contests, and a little training never hurts, now does it?" Evan paused to close his eyes, rubbing his chin. "Regardless, my Pokemon can be extremly well at times...they might not be the best, but at least I get to try out their skills to the ultimate." Evan smiled, opening his eyes to see his surroundings again. "My journey started out rather well, and after a few years, I must say I have improved."

Zangoose continued to watch it's "opponents", aka, any Pokemon in the cool catagory, and saw the Zangoose belonging to Hisakata. This intrigued the Pokemon greatly, as it looked over his seat just to look at it. "Another one of my species...perfect. Not like it can really surpass my standards...though it could be a gooden..." Zangoose growled. Apparently, he wasn't too mean; Zangoose just loved competition.

Nuzleaf did likewise to Zangoose; looked around at the other beautiful Pokemon. "Yes. Pretty." he said nervously. "And what do you mean by inner beauty? All I know is that I can combine two or more moves easily and POOF, it's pretty." Nuzleaf asked Hydra, straching his arm.

Swampert continued to sit behind Evan. Assumingly, by taking a quick glance at these two at once may have you consider they've been friends for quite some time, and indeed they have been. Swampert was Evan's starter Pokemon, but Evan has to shift his attention to other Pokemon, right? Right.

Beautifly continued to hover near Flora, studying the Ivysaur's looks, and simply perched on Swampert's head, giving itself enough rest for it's appeal. It didn't want to waist too much of it's wing power.

Mightyena seemed to be asleep, or close enough to it. The thoughts of how much she would trample Hailstorm in the competition made her grin in her daze and she continued to chuckle in a casual tired tone. But, opon hearing the Manyula, her eyes shot open, she stood up sharply to see what was making the minor racket.

"Where is Sakai?" Robbie said to himself. He sat on a bench, next to a crazy trainer who had a pokemon that was called Manyula. Robbie had never seen a pokemon like this before, and was enthralled for a moment. Nevertheless, his head jerked away from the peculiar pokemon, as he realized that it was ugly, and of course not a bug.
