~*The Grand Festival: The Seasons of Pokemon and the Reformation of Hoenn*~
...It all begins...
Hoenn is a land of beauty where many things lie in serene harmony. People and pokemon, friend and foe, both unite themselves proudly under the Hoennian Region Flag and so it has been for many years. Hoenn prides itself for its spectacular natural beauty; it has such a diverse and amazing range of environments and natural habitats, ranging from the scoring deserts sands of the Sandstorm Region to the lush dense forests of Petalburg. There is something for everyone to see; the fantastical extinct volcano city of Sootpolis, the crowded but beautiful sea-side city of Slateport even the city built of rafters in the treetops; the lush remarkable Fortree City.
But many eons ago, when our world was young, there were three titan pokemon who created the land now called Hoenn. One was the land titan who formed and expanded the land, creating soil and turf to support life on land. Another was the sea titan who expanded and formed the seas, creating water, the source of all living creatures. The last was the air titan who finished by separating and expanding the sky and the air from the seas and land, adding dimension and bringing harmony to the land and the sea. These three titan pokemon were known as Groundon, Kyogre and Rayquaza.
Kyogre and Groundon were natural rivals and enemies, fighting for space and land. The seas clashed with the lands. Soon, a catastrophic battle commenced between the titans of the earth and the sea. Groundon and Kyogre’s battle threatened to destroy Hoenn once and for all when Rayquaza put them in a deep ancient sleep and he sealed them away, one in the Cave of the Earths and the other in the Caves of the Seas. Rayquaza then went into a deep slumber, content with what was done. Then all of all; peace was in Hoenn as the land flourished for many eons. Until Team Magma and Team Aqua came, that is.
Team Magma and Team Aqua were a group of Hoennian trainers and their pokemon, villains to be truthful, who weren’t particularly interested in wealth and power but in something more ominous and dangerous to Hoenn; they wanted to awake and control the two titans; Groundon and Kyogre respectively to expand the land and the sea respectively, some for personal reasons, others for the power and wealth while people like Archie and Maxie, the leaders of Team Aqua and Team Magma respectively, who desperately wanted to see the magnificent Groundon and Kyogre and claim them as the main jewel of their crown. Little did they know what was to come next…
Magma and Aqua were ruthless, doing anything possible to achieve their goal. They robbed banks at masses, stealing anything they could possibly need, even kidnapping and keeping people hostage. Most blood chilling of all, they had no mercy or patience for those who stood in their way and utterly destroyed all who opposed them…
In the end, the two Teams using two powerful magical spheres reawakened the titans of the land and sea; Groundon and Kyogre. Groundon and Kyogre were still hunger for the fight they once had and had not finished. Soon, great floods and great droughts raged upon Hoenn causing great chaos; each pokemon heading towards their old fighting arena; Sootpolis City. Team Magma and Team Aqua realized the evil and horror they have caused and inflicted upon Hoenn; they tried to reserve the process; it was two late. Groundon and Kyogre had gone beyond their control…
But not hope had been lost; the Hoennian trainers went to their last resort. According to the legends, during Groundon and Kyogre’s first encounter, Rayquaza the Titan of the Sky had put them to rest, in a deep slumber and thus saved Hoenn from ultimate destruction. Then afterwards, Rayquaza itself went to sleep, on the fabled Sky Pillar, off the coast of the current Pacifilog Town. The trainers, in desperate hope of saving their beloved Hoenn, risked life and eventually reached Pacifilog Town. Then they searched for many days in the treacherous oceans where Kyogre threatened the destruction of the last glimmer of hope. Eventually, there, on under a flimsy façade of rocks, lay the Sky Pillar. Trainers once again put their lives on the lines, climbing the colossal tower where many broken and flimsy tiles lay hidden. But at last, they made it to the top and they awakened Rayquaza from its slumber. Rayquaza, then immediately set off and put Groundon and Kyogre back to rest using its superior powers of the sky before going back to its ethereal slumber. Hoenn had been saved.
Many things had changed significantly in the past twenty years since Kyogre and Groundon had been put back to rest. The land had grown peaceful, trainers and Co-ordinators alike flourished and the likes of Team Magma and Team Aqua seem to have been completely disbanded and abolished. The land and its people happily lived once again in pure bliss and peace.
Set curiously amongst the rocky wave-swept shores where earth and sea met and clashed, magnificent dense forests with leafy canopies with surreal green sunlight and small thickets of ancient trees underneath the outstanding Bicycle Road, sat the spectacular Slateport City, home to the fabled Grand Festival. Pokemon Coordinators of over all ages and sizes participate in this spectacular event. To quality, all aspiring Coordinators and their pokemon must gain at least five Contest Ribbons and their Contest Pass. Then in a fantastical elimination style, the Coordinators battle it out for the prized and legendary Ribbon Cup, which is rewarded annually to the Top Coordinator and the Winner of the Grand Festival.
Many Coordinators each year flock in their thousands to try out for the Ribbon Cup; but only sixty-four Top Coordinators qualify for the Grand Festival; and only thirty-two of those sixty-four make it through to the battling stage. This year was like every other year; the Fallabor, the Rustboro, Lilycove, the Verdanturf and the Pacifilog Contests were all flocked by many aspiring Coordinators and their beloved Pokemon. Soon, as the Grand Festival for 2006 began to commence, Coordinators of all different ages and sizes came to battle it out for the Ribbon Cup. Everyone thought it’ll be like any other year at the Grand Festival. Little did they know this year, will be very different as something evil lurks…
Little do the people of the Grand Festival know, however, that trouble brews to the East. On one of the isles along Route 123, an elder burly man named Archie has reformed his once notorious group of revolutionaries, Team Aqua, and in the deep caverns to the West, a wiry and gangly man with a lined face, Maxie, has countered his arch-nemesis, doing the same. Catastrophe lies within the very fabrications of the Pokemon Contests, where a mysterious, silent Coordinator appears with not an ounce of reputation, but accelerates immediately to the top of the Contests he participates in, winning with suspicious ease. What is the truth behind the darkly clad, new-arrival to Grand Festival, and what could the reformation of Aqua and Magma mean for the fate of Hoenn? Whitney of Goldenrod City, one of the Board Committee Members knew something was wrong. So she summons a group of Coordinators, who are participating and have qualified for the Grand Festival, to help unravel the mystery at the Grand Festival and save Hoenn from the previous fate it had suffered before…
Summary:
You are one of the Coordinators who Whitney has chosen to help unravel the mystery at the Grand Festival. The Grand Festival is still going on schedule; you participate and try and get to the Second Stage of the Grand Festival and aim for the Ribbon Cup. The two aims for you in this RPG is 1.) Unravelling the mysteries behind the Grand Festival and Team Magma and Team Aqua 2.) Getting the Ribbon Cup and winning the Grand Festival. You don’t have to get to the Battling Stage to continue participating in this RPG; there are things lurking behind the scenes… No one knows immediately of the reformation of both Teams, but word will eventually reach the school. Once word does come, the Grand Festival goes on an alert status--as one might do if there were a terrorist's threat. I’ll decide when the word comes. The plot will unfold with Whitney’s Coordinators, resulting in an adventure half-way across Hoenn and a climactic final battle. Expect lots and LOTS of Plot Twists but for now, your top priority is the Ribbon Cup!

-If a Pokémon can learn a move, then it can use it.
-This RPG will take place in Hoenn, but Pokémon from any region are fine.
-For Pokémon, there can be no more than a 1:3 ratio of shinies:normals. Basically up to two shiny Pokémon in a team of 5-6 and one in a team of 2-4.
- NO LEGENDARIES!!

-Post long enough, though I can understand occasional short posts.

Okay, now to the hard part; how I’m going to judge you in the first part of the Grand Festival; the Appeal Stage. Okay this is how it’ll work. You’ve all watched the anime. In this Stage, it is crucial on how creatively you use a pokemon’s good traits and move pool. When it is your turn to appeal, you are to make a post, describing the entrance of your chosen pokemon from your pokeball, HOW it uses a specific move and describe it. This is how I’ll judge it:
Spelling, Vocabulary and Grammar (SVG for short): 10/10
Description: 10/10
Realism: 10/10
Execution and Usage (in regards to the pokemon and the move): 10/10
The “X” Factor: 10/10
So in total, you will be judged out of 50 Marks and you will be given a percentage which will in turn give you your final mark. So example: Sophie gets 40/50. 40/50 is 80%. 80% equals to 80 Points. Her final mark is 80 Points. Get it now? So here’s a Sample:
Bad Example:
Sophie released a Masquerain from her pokeball. “Use Bubblebeam then follow it up with Silver Wind!” she said. The pokemon flew up and used Bubblebeam, followed by Silver Wind and dazzled everyone before perching on her arm again.
Score:
SVG: 5/10
Description: 1/10
Realism: 0/10
Execution and Usage: 0/10
The “X” Factor: 1/10
Final Mark: 7/50
Sophie’s Total Amount of Points (TAoP): 14
Good Example:
Sophie kissed her pokeball lightly where the scarlet upper mark gleamed in the sunlight. “I’m counting on you Masquerain! Go Masquerain!” the cerise haired girl said as she released a dazzlingly beautiful pokemon from her pokeball. The pokemon had a small lithe body but it had a beautiful pair of wings. They were definitely out of proportion, with an intricately detailed azure pattern on each one. It had a cute adorable face, its sweet eyes smiling amiably at the crowd. Sophie then tossed her head and nodded. “You know what to do! Bubblebeam!” she said.
The winged pokemon flew up in the air in spectacular manner, as if in a complicated dance. It then fired a powerful burst of bubbles at a fast speed, yet slow enough for the audience to see and observe their spectacular beauty. Each and every bubble glittered like gossamer in the sunlight, in a dazzling array of colours in the sunlight. Then bubbles then collected at the bottom of the stadium, in compilation of true loveliness and beauty; resembling a collection of rare rainbow opals. Then the cherry haired girl nodded. “Silver Wind!” Masquerain wavered its sparkling wings to release a gust of compressed wind, laced with beautiful silvery powder towards the bubbles. The powdery wind glistened in the delicious shafts of sunlight as if diamonds. The wind , headed towards the collection of bubbles, then colliding with them, sending the bubbles flying in a sparkling array in all directions, leaving the audience gasping, clapping and cheering for the winged pokemon and its cerise haired trainer, Sophie.
Score:
SVG: 9/10
Description: 10/10
Realism: 8/10
Execution and Usage: 9/10
The “X” Factor: 10/10
Final Mark: 46/50
Sophie’s TAoP: 92
There are some rules though in regards of Appeals:
-You may only use up to three moves
-All Standard Rules of this RPG applies
-You may NOT use UBer moves and appeals; any of those who make an airborne whirlpool using Water Gun for example, shall be immediately eliminated from the Grand Festival
-Choose one Pokemon only for your appeal.
-I shall decide what type of Appeal you will have to make: Smart, Beauty, Cute, Tough and Cool when the RPG starts. It is recommended you have five pokemon which specialising in five types of appeal. So having a Skitty: Cute, Milotic: Beautiful, Gardevoir: Smart, Swampert: Tough and Raichu: Cool is a good example of what I mean.
-25% of the participators of this RPG shall not make it to the Battle Stage. You still have stuff to do though.
Reservations and LSU: I’m aiming for around twelve participators but regardless of how many I have, I’m going to start this RPG next Friday. I only give Reservations to those I know I can trust to fill out a Sign-Up form in time and who doesn’t disappoint me. Everyone else, do it the hard way. I shall NOT allow LSUs and the maximum amount of participators is twelve (excluding me) and that’s final. I am NOT going to RP as a Coordinator but I am going to control all NPCs.
