The Guardians of Magic
Long ago there were two worlds separated by time and space. The magic realm, home to all magic creatures and the human realm, home to the “normal” people and animals known as Earth. The Magic Realm’s planet was struck by a meteor a few hundred years later, utterly destroying the planet and sending all of the magical creatures to Earth. The surviving magical creatures were forced to hide their true identities from the humans, most of them inter-bread and their species of magic was neutralized. This resulted in the creation of witches and wizards. Each witch and wizard was stronger then a human, many of them used their powers for self-gain, causing chaos to strike the humans (a.k.a. Kinis). The creator of all magic, Jericho, decided that only a select few could have these powers, so she created something she called the level of maturity. No wizard or witch could receive his/her powers until they preformed a selfless act, proving that they were ready for their powers. For an extra protection net, she created 10 elemental “guardians” protecting the Kinis from the magic she didn’t have control over, the evil magic of the world.

The first set of Guardians created became corrupted with their powers, using them for self-gain and trickery, robbery, and hurting others. Jericho was devastated. She knew that the only way to save the magic she loved so dearly was to create a new generation of guardians, younger and more innocent, giving them their elemental powers as soon as they reached maturity. These second guardians must go after the first ones, to stop them and save the world from their evil.

Every guardians’ powers are enhanced when they are together, causing them to be stronger, tougher. If a guardian separates from his/her fellow witches/wizards they will loose most of their elemental power, sacrificing their guardian position. When one guardian dies, their powers are resent into a close responsible family member.

Terms you should know:

Kini: A Kini is a person who isn’t a magic person, it’s slang for non-magic. Kinis don’t know anything about magic, assuming that it’s just a myth or fairy tale. If a witch/wizard reveals their powers in front of a Kini they could be sent off to have them tampered with in the government. Not good.

Guardian: A guardian is a normal witch or wizard (each of which normally have one power, more on the non-physical side) with their natural powers enhanced, causing them to have complete control over an element of nature. They were given these powers by Jericho at birth, even though most witches or wizards don’t gain their powers until their level of maturity.

Level of maturity: When a witch or wizard reaches a mental and psychological level where they are mature enough to understand that their powers aren’t to be used for self-gain, but to be used for helping others and maybe a few little spells for themselves. Not too hard. For most this is somewhere around 12-17 (some people are just dense). Usually it follows a selfless act preformed by the witch or wizard, to show that they care about others.

Jericho: Jericho was the first witch ever to exist; she decides when a wizard or witch has reached a level of maturity. No one knows much about her. Or where she lives.

All of the Guardians attend the same school. Jericho made it that way for a reason.


Sign Ups:

Second Guardian: (that’s you)

Name: something reasonable that a person would name their kid. Not like Spike or Rocky. That can be your nickname. List that as a nickname.
Age: 12-18 which is when a magical person usually reaches their level of maturity.
Gender: Please don’t screw with this. Guy or girl. Simple.
Species: You can be any species you want, but you have to be at least ½ human. (YOur magical parts don't appear until you reach level of maturity, so in my case I just got my wings. Get it?)
Normal Power: More on the mental side. Such as premonitions (so mine) or telekinisis. It can't be elemental or extremely powerful.
Guardian Element: The elements are listed below here. Don’t make up your own.
Appearance: 3-6 sentances, preferably six.
Personality: ditto
History: this is optional. If you feel the need to list big things that happened in your life, feel free.

Name: Sally Henderson (Sal is her nickname)
Age: 13
Gender: Girl
Species: Human, but her parents loved everything spiritual and magical.
Normal Power: Empathy. In other words, she can sense and read the emotions of others.
Guardian Element: Ground
Appearance: Sal has dark blue eyes which shine lighter in the light. Her hair is dark brown but she cut most of it off extremely short apart from two long thin bits that hangs down to her waist and stay in front of her. She ties a hair tie around each one so it looks like she just has really thin hair tied in two pony tails from a distance. Sal always wears her jean jacket that is a dark blue colour and is nearly never seen without it. Apart from her adored jacket, Sal also wears a black T-shirt or skivy (depending on the seasons) and a white, knee high skirt with dark shorts or tracksuit pants (also depending on the weather). Sal also wears a necklace with a cut and polished onyx on the end in the shape of an oval.
Personality: Sal is a bit on the optimistic side and doesn't like to see the bad side of things. She is usually a quiet person but always makes sure her opinion is voiced. Sal also likes to weigh her options and decisions to what she sees as the best idea. For some reason Sal overall prefers her powers of Empathy as opposed to her element of Ground but thats because she's a bit afraid of hurting people with her element. And Empathy is just reading the emotions of others and in Sal's opinion couldn't possibly hurt anyone.
History: Sal doesn't exactly have a closest friend but her friends are spread all around. She is the girl that is nearly friends with everyone and Sal is sick of it but it isn't exactly something you can wish away. Her life is actually pretty normal. Well it was. Her mother and father loved everything and anything spiritual so Sal was brought up with a little bit of knowledge but not much since she wasn't particulary interested in it. Well, Sal liked to learn about the Zodiac but that was about it.
Other: Not that I can think of.

Name: Anabel Lourvina
Age: 14
Gender: Girl
Species: Anabel is half human, half Oread (Oreads are the Nymphs of grottos and mountains.)
Normal Power: Telekinesis
Element: Ground
Description: Anabel has dark brown eyes and her hair is a dark, dirty blonde going brown. She lets her wavy, long, beautiful hair down but has an army camoflauge bandana on her head. She wears a reddish brown singlet and faded blue jeans and black sneakers. Anabel's upper arms have a bit of muscle because of all the work she does, and on her left shoulder is a tattoo that is a very roughly and poorly drawn circle but it was supposed to be like that.
Personality: Anabel, since she grew up on a farm, likes to do things the hard way and turns her nose up at people who do things the lazy way. Anabel is a bit cold to most people, but to her enemies she is brutal, harsh, cruel and merciless. Anabel actually is more friendly towards animals than humans and will protect any that she is fond of. ANabel doesn't actually talk or make contact with humans that much at all and prefers rural life to urban life.
Other: Might as well say how she got corrupted by her element. Anabel isn't easily overcomed by greed but became corrupted by her powers since her family were basically enemy farmers with their neighbours. Her neighbours set fire to a store house, so she unleashed a full out attack on her neighbours combining her Telekinesis and her element of the Ground. She was even planning to eliminate entire cities but douibted that she'd be able to have that without hurting her body badly.

Name: Katelina Martinez (Kat)
Age: 15
Gender: Girl
Species: ½ human, ½ Irish Fairy (A fairy…from Ireland? Duh.)
Normal Power: premonition (she usually gets some of the guardians’ “missions” due to this)
Guardian Element: Air

Appearance: Kat’s tall and slim, about 5’4, breaking out of the generic “fairy” mold (being short that is). She has long red hair, going down to about her mid-back. It takes a bit after her mother’s, wild and wavy, but Kat brushes it out carefully every morning. If she doesn’t have time, then she just leaves it as is. Which still looks good on her. Perched in the midst of her red waves are two, navy blue curly antennas, showing some of her fairy heritage. She has deep, emerald green eyes, almost always reflecting her feelings. Due to this, Kat’s true intentions for anything are usually reflected in her eyes, hindering her in hiding her emotions. Sprouting from her mid-back, are two enourmous pale blue, butterfly like wings; patterned with wind-like darker blue swirls. She usually wears a dark green t-shirt with the word Skittles plastered across it and a pair of pale jeans that are frayed at the bottom since they’re too long.

Personality: Kat is a general teenager, which means that she carries the general teenage spunk. She usually complains about going to class, especially if that class is American History. She hates history and any form of social studies (besides geography) and always has. She loves science, especially Earth science, since she aspires to be a meteorologist when she gets older. To be a meteorologist, you have to be extremely determined, which Kat is. She never leaves a task unfinished (with the exception of American History homework ^_^), especially if it will effect her grades. She has a real art with making up sarcastic comments, but she doesn’t hide her feelings under them. She’s very bold and outgoing, simply walking up to someone in the hallway to prove a point. Kat never shies away from anything, always going out to meet it evenly on the battlefield, showing her strong loyalty and determination.

Kat’s also a good friend, loyal and respecting ‘til the end. She’ll never bail out on anyone, even if it does cost her something important.

History: Kat’s mom was raped on the street about sixteen years ago, her boyfriend leaving her pregnant and moneyless. She’d just turned sixteen, making her only eleven years older then Kat. But even with the choice of adoption or abortion, Kat’s mother carries the same determination as her daughter, forcing her to push through the hardship, even when her fairy mother and normal father kicked her out of the house for it. She lived with her friend Lyla, who ran a “horse farm” which is really a unicorn farm (hehe Unicorns!). When Lyla was killed by one of her unicorns who’d caught rabis (long story) Melody (Kat’s mom) took over the farm for her, and raised her young daughter on the farm, sacrificing her own college dreams to raise her daughter. She left magic out of young Kat’s life, hoping to simplify it from the complications it suffered.

Kat went to kindergarten and elementary school, gaining many friends and fun. Her mom always had to drive her to school though, since the bus wouldn’t bus out into “farm country”. Some kids made fun of Kat for being a farm girl, but she just waved them off, not really caring that much.

In eighth grade she picked up a boyfriend named John, who treated her wonderful, even taking her to the dance and such. Until 9th grade that is (this year). Kat was late one day from band, picking up information for her friend Jasmine, when John (16 years old) came to pick her up. He punched her when she got in, telling her to never be late again. Kat didn’t know what to do, she was still in love with him, yet he was hurting her. One day she and Jaz (Jasmine) were getting a ride from him, he began to beat her up as well. Kat overcame her poisonious love, showing her loyalty to Jas when she turned and beat the crap out of HIM. She’s still recovering from the blow (mentally) and he’s still recovering too (physically).

Name: Allison Jaxin
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Species: human
Normal Power: levitation
Element: air
Description: Alli has long, wavy brown hair, almost like the ears of a cocker spaniel. It goes to about her breastline. She has deep chocolate brown eyes, under her thin, perfectly plucked eyebrows. She keeps her hair up in a bun usually, despite the fact that it looks better down. She usually just wears a t-shirt, under a black jacket labled “Peneskal Drum Major”, in red, since that’s the name of our school. She then wears a pair of dark blue jeans, streaked with lighter strings.

Personality: Alli is very strict and uptight, but hates being called “Allison”. She keeps her real emotions hidden under strict comments and mumblings. She’s very shy, but pushes herself to be not shy, which only results in down-to-earth and matter-of-fact know-it-all comments. Most people think she’s mean or a know-it-all, despite her friends, who know that she’s really shy and sensitive. They really don’t know how she became drum major.

Other: Alli became corrupt by her powers during band, where others would make fun of her for her strict demeanor and clothing. She would constantly blow their hats off, levitate their shoes during performances, stupid things like that. But as her powers got stronger, the push to become popular became stronger as well, and she levitated the other girl who was competing to be drum major’s bracelet, causing her to loose the pulse and then be blown off the ladder, resulting in a back injury, banishing her from marching band.

Second Guardian: (that’s you)

Name: Briar Forrest.
Age: 15
Gender: bloke
Species: ½ human, ½ wood elf with a slight touch of fairy
Normal Power: has very, very sharp senses (sight, smell, touch, hearing etc) and reflexes. He can also talk to animals to an extent reasonably well
Guardian Element: plants
Appearance: Briar is about 6’1 and has a well-perfected frame. He has brown/blonde hair, which is of medium length and green/brown eyes that have the ability soothe people and/or send them to sleep if they stare into them too much and a well-toned face. Basically, he’s very handsome (it’s the elfish side, perfect in every way). He wears blue jeans and a yellow polo shirt and a jacket with a hood. Recently, his elfish side has been beginning to show, being that his body is a bit more lithe, his face is more angular and his ears are starting to go pointy and stick out of his hair.
Personality: Briar is quite a happy fellow and is known to laugh a lot but does take everything seriously, but you can tell when things are bad for him when he actually looks serious. Briar is also a very active person and hates to spend to long indoors (the elfishness again) and is very passionate about the well-being of the planet and is a member of green peace and the world wildlife fund (WWF). He LOVES the subject of biology. Although he has no close friends, he does keep an eye on them a if they’re in trouble, he’ll try and help them.
History: Briar was born in the north where his Dad (he’s the one with the elf side) and his Mum (she has the slight fairy side from god knows where…) met in the broadleaf forest on where he lives on the edge of now. He constantly visits his elf and animal friends whenever he can and has also befriended a hawk (which I suppose would count as a pet). The hawk, whose name is Skarth, is his only one and true friend as, although he is very popular, he prefers to walk with the peaceful trees that surround him and think quietly to himself about things.
Other: he is also a black belt in karate and shin-ken-do (the art of the samurai)

Name: Jacob thorns (nickname, Jake)
Age: 16
Gender: bloke
Species: ½ human and ½ wood nymph (the nymph that’s known to be naughty, deceptive and tricky)
Normal Power: camouflage or invisibility? No one knows

Description: some thing about Jake just radiates meanness and his face seems to always have a smirk. He has short deep brown/black hair and the same with his eyes and is tall with a light and lithe frame making him very agile and good at sports. he also knows a bit of street fighting as he's well prone to skipping school
Personality: Jakes a bully. It’s simple as that. By using his normal power, he sneaks behind people and steals or beats them up. The only things he cares for are his potted plants in his bedroom, his rare poisonous plants, Venus flytraps and other spiky, stinging poisonous things of the like.
other: ironically, Jake lives next door to Briar.

Name: Holly Decembre
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Species: ½ human, half elf.
Normal Power: Holly has a gift of tongues, she can speak any language, no matter whether it is human, animal, elf or any other being.
Guardian Element: Water
Appearance: Holly is five feet and eleven inches tall. She has auburn hair which stops at the middle of her back, and hazel eyes. She has extremely pale skin, and her nose has a slight hook. She is very slim, and has long tapered fingers. Her ears only have a very slight point, and so she is called, "Legolass' with two 's's by her classmates. Her teeth are slightly pointed at the canines, so she is also known as a vampire reject.
Personality: Holly is quite clever, and achieved high marks at school. She has a fiery temper, and can get angry really fast. She is always outgoing, ready to lend a hand, and is a good friend to those in need. When upset, she will never tell anyone what it's about, and will run away. Despite her good traits, she is always lonely and wishes for a few more friends. Her favourite subject is Literacy, and sometimes confuses her peers with her vast vocabulary, while her Maths work is poor in comparison.
History: Optional- so it's secret.

Age: 19
Gender: Female.
Species: ½ human, half elf.
Normal Power: She can shapeshift
Element: Water
Description: Charlotte is six feet and four inches tall. She has waist-length brown hair, which has a butterfly hairclip in. She has blue eyes. She wears a white polo T-shirt with a blue jacket over it. She wears jeans with black high-heeled boots. Around her neck is a necklace, which has a dolphin pendant and some beads strung on it. She is very slim, but doesn't have a fear of getting obese. On special occasions, she wears a bracelet with the name of her deceased fiance engraved, Darren. She has a pink heart painted on her right cheek.
Personality: Charlotte is a clever girl, yet also very shy. She prefers sitting out from social activities. She only emerges from her shell when somebody else asks her to join in with the activity, or a person gives her an alternative. When angered, she will either stomp off in a huff, or if she’s really maddened, she will pour water over the person who made her angry. When happy, she is good to know. She is also rather ruthless when it comes to the sea and the purity of water, and will never show a single weakness. Her old part-time job was as a journalist.
Other: Charlotte became corrupt when she heard about how people were spilling oils into the sea, and making the water become toxic. Normally Charlotte didn't care about nature, but she decided that all polluters should be stopped, to prevent them from ruining the sea and all water.

Second Guardian: (that’s you)

Name: Catherine “Mizuryu” Dracona (Cat, Cathy, Mizi, Mizu, Miz; she’ll respond to most anything. I’ll refer to her by anything whenever I feel like it.)
Age: 14
Gender: Female

Species: Human/Sea-Dragon (read her history since this is hard to explain)
Normal Power: Foretelling of the weather (especially rain and humidity) and minimal control of water
Guardian Element: Dragon

Appearance: Mizuryu is a rather tall girl with average-toned skin. She is very slim; there’s barely any fat on her and not too much muscle. She has black hair tinted with almost invisible navy that runs in streaks around her face and just a little brighter around the tips. It is rather long, flowing down to her waist easily, and always stays straight. Her eyes are light gray blue.

Mizi bears a few features to separate her from every other human. For one, she has sharp little horns poking out just above her eyebrows by her temples, but her bangs cover them up. She also has notably sharp, pointy elbows which are the start of spines. Her fingers are remarkably flexible and can bend in very odd ways. Her ears are pointy, not round. She has slits on her neck and shoulders; though she doesn’t know it because she has never used them, they’re gills. Another thing that she doesn’t know is that if she comes into contact with a large amount of salt water – the ocean – her legs will become a scaly dragon tail with an ovular fin at the tip. But I’m getting ahead of myself.

Mizi wears a low-cut, ¾ sleeved white shirt with silver and black patterns on it. It is very stretchy and has unused ties on the ends of the sleeves. Underneath it she wears a stretchy gray camisole. She normally wears jeans but occasionally wears a knee-length black skirt with some silver on it. She wears black flip-flops with silver beads. To hide her odd slits she wears a thick, woven choker necklace with beads positioned in a color pattern of sorts. She has silver loop earring with black beads hanging on them. Around her waist (over her shirt) is a navy blue sash with a metal plate on one side; the plate has four wavy lines set in a square-like position in its center.. In other words, she bought a Naruto® headband with the mist village symbol. Some days, however, Mizi will simply wear a tee-shirt and jeans. On these days she wears sneakers and doesn’t bother with any jewelry, thus she wears her headband around her neck to hide her gills.

Personality: Mizuryu is a quiet girl with very little skill in talking to others. She is a bit sarcastic, but normally says things straightforwardly if she decides to talk. She is not very competitive with others, just with herself. She always knows she can do better. She doesn’t seem to care about what goes on around her except for schoolwork and her sports teams. However, she can be a good friend if you can put up with her bad days.

History: Mizuryu was born to a sea dragon whom had become human to represent his clan in the human world and a human woman without a clue... until, of course, they were married. She doesn’t mind, luckily. Mizi was given a human name, “Catherine,” but was always called Mizuryu. She grew up in a small town in the South but moved to her current home at age 13. She went to the middle school for a year and made a few people. Now she’s moving on the high school. She committed a deed worthy of her maturity level last summer (don’t want to go into detail on how) and has changed.

Other: Mizi is on the Frisbee football and soccer teams. (^^; we really have one at my school, FYI) She is based of the Japanese/Chinese idea of a dragon.

Name: Arthur “Kazeryu” Dracona (Art, Kaze, Kaz; same as Mizuryu.)
Age: 19
Gender: Male

Species: Human/Wind-Dragon (same as Miz only wind)
Normal Power: Foretelling of the weather (especially wind and dryness) and minimal control of wind (fire coming along)
Element: Dragon

Description: Kazeryu is a very tall young man with bronze-toned skin. His hair is a dusty golden color and remains untamed at all times. He is very muscular, like you might expect a football player to be. His eyes are a sharp, cold emerald.

Kaz has larger horns that Mizuryu, but his bangs are bushier to compensate. He has large golden wings and a long golden tail, both hidden by magical means. His ears are oddly pointed, like elf ears. He can breathe thin air better than any normal human.

Kaz wears baggy pants of whatever color his feels like, as long as they’re clean. He wears oversized short-sleeved shirts that match. He has a diamond stud earring in his left ear and always wears a brown belt with a rather large buckle.

Personality: Kazeryu is a smooth-talker with all the charm of a conman. Not that it works on teachers at school, but he’ll try it anyway. He has a tendency to lie straight-faced, unfazed by anything and everything that comes his way. He is a troublemaker, the loud kind in class that people somehow get along with anyway. You know, the “love ‘im or hate ‘im” sort of guy.

Other: He is based on the fire-breathing sort of dragon. And I may edit in how he was corrupted later.
