The Gym Badges

It says in the game guides, and even the Gym Leaders say it themselves.

That some gym badges raise stats.

For example, after getting the Mind Badge, the twins say that the Mind Badge slightly raises your special attack/defense.

Does this effect only the Pokemon in your party?

All future Pokemon?

Or what?

I've always noticed this, but i don't know exactly how this Game Mechanic works.

I've wondered this too. I'd presume it would be for the pokemon in your party at the time, otherwise there'd be no point as eventually everyone would just have those extra stats.

But who knows, thats just a presumption.

I gave it some thought because i recently finished EV training a bred female Slaqueen, and it experienced its first gym battle today.

Then i wondered... what if i took this Slaking through multiple games, and fought against the Gym Leaders and obtained their badges repeatibly.

Would i have some insanley high stat Slaqueen?

I always wondered how a badge could do anything to your Pokemon, party or otherwise. But I do think it affects all your Pokemon, but mostly your party. You know, like they get most of the stat-raising or whatever.

So no one knows about this for sure?

Wow... i'm actually VERY suprised.

Every other game mechanic is out there, and easily comprehendible and documented.

But their's nothing on this.

At all.

The same goes for growing berries.

Of course watering them make more berries grow... but how much watering, in what time intervals is needed for maximium berry growth?

This avatar sucks.
i think it's just that as soon as your pokemon gets sent into battle, it recieves the boost, kinda like a salac berry, and a petaya berry, if you have the respective stat raising badge.

I think it adds the stats to the poke`mon out at the time maybe just a random guess.

Yes it's very odd that so little is known about this, especially seeing as it's been a feature since RBY!!!
My guess is that it adds to the EVs of all Pokemon in the party, though I have never looked closely at it.

I'm going to experiment with this.

I recently caught a Chinchou.

Completley fresh of any EV's, or stat boosters.

I'm going to take him with me to my next gym battle.

I also have all of the EV reducing berries.

I'm going to get his stats from before the match.

Then get his stats after the match.

Then i'll use the reduction berries to see if he gained any EV's.

It affects all your party, before a battle.

Geez, how can nobody know? It is an in-game effect, it affects whatever is in your party and doesn't change stats, it gives you a boost like swords dance etc. It doesn't give these boosts in any form of competitive battle i.e: link battle and the battle frontier but it boosts you slightly in the respective stats in any other battle.

You act like it's common knowledge.

The Gym Badge mechanics are even more secret than EV/IV and Bredding mechanics.

It's REAL easy for people not to know.

But thanks for clearing it up, it all makes sense now.
