The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero - DLC Speculation & Discussion Thread

That is so not enough for [what I assume will be] $30 DLC. The Isle of Armor & The Crown Tundra were, to me, one of the best examples of how DLC should be. It was something we actually needed to pay for. That's what I'm hoping for.

I never said that was the entire DLC. I meant it as one potential area that we would be able to explore in the DLC. I was thinking that this would be the first half and the second half we go exploring somewhere else.

I very much hope we get a new environment should Scarlet & Violet receive DLC, but I can't for the life of me figure out what that could be.

I would love for us to return to Kalos, even if it's just the southern portion, but that's highly unlikely. lol In terms of real-world perspective, the only areas I could see being represented as DLC are the Balearic Islands and Northern Morocco. I'd love to see the latter, especially with connections to Alfornada.

I fail to see how it’s unlikely when there is clearly part of the Paldea region map that is likely to be revealed in added to.


I mean heck there is a whole land mass in the whole upper right corner of the map that looks like a clear spot for DLC.

Heck if they didn’t intend for that to be anything they could have just made it water or mountains instead.

Heck that land in the the upper right corner of the map is pretty much in the same or similar situation that Crown Thundra was in Sword&Shield with Galar.

Like if you just look at the Paldea map it’s pretty obvious where the DLC will likely take place being Area Zero and the landmass that is in the upper right corner of the map that is basically southern Kalos.

Heck I don’t understand this weird obsession with trying to deny a area that is pretty clearly for DLC just because that area happens to be base on southern France.

Plus it wouldn’t be the first time that a Pokémon region incorporated part of another country besides the one it is primarily based on as the Sinnoh region while being primarily based off a region of Japan also has a part of it that is based off of a part of Russia.


So if anything visiting Southern Kalos is actually pretty likely even if it’s just a small part of it.

You sure love the word "heck". Anyway, I suspect the new DLC areas won't be Kalos specifically but an expansion of the Sinjoh concept. Kalos with Gen 9 graphics would brick the cartridge, I don't see them putting two whole regions in the same game.

It's funny you mention that as Galar did have mountains to its south, and past those were the area we visited for the second DLC. So that point ironically falls short as GF has shown they'll expand the region in the way they want to expand it, and that could easily just as well be sailing through the ocean just as much as it is going to the northeast as you suggest.

The Balearic Islands are there, but only Ibiza and Formentera. Still missing are Mallorca and Menorca. I mentioned it before, but there are some other outlying islands under the possession of either Spain or Portugal that could be used. In addition to the remaining Balearic Islands, there are:

Canary Islands
Madeira
The Azores

And if we include Cape Verde, which is its own country, it would comprise the entirety of Macaronesia.

I think we will go even deeper into Area Zero specifically the crystal cavern section. It’s extremely empty aside from the building with the time machine and crystals and it feels like there is definitely some huge secret still hiding in the area which is probably the third legendary. The huge crystal sections that are basically individual cliffs are wider that you’d expect them to be and big enough to secretly have a cave or cavern inside where hidden Pokémon are living and possibly where the Paradox Pokémon come from as we know that the time machine created portals when it was still running and that where the Paradox forms emerged. It was never stated that the portal was in the same room as the machine and it could have easily created a time rift outside the lab.

It's probably just a visual glitch, but sometimes, Pokémon spawn inside of those crystals and you can't reach them (and neither can they reach you).

People keep talking about Southern France, but Andorra lies between them. If there's going to be a connector between the two regions, like with the Sinjoh Ruins lying between Kanto and Johto, it would definitely be Andorra. It would fit with the very high elevation of the location (as Andorra is located in the Pyrenees), and owing to it being mostly urbanized, you can definitely put a town there based on Andorra la Vella, Andorra's capital and its largest city.

They definitely have enough space this time, but it’s a matter of how many resources GF will dedicate to this Gen. 6 years into the Switch, the next console is not that far away. GF knows this and hopefully they are optimizing for the next console better than they did for Switch. I feel like we’re going into another B2W2 dilemma.

I see that they are going to give "hot springs" and a rival school, interesting, although this theme is very often used in this type of productions, I hope I will have fun and I like Suicuna's design

Notably Zebstrika is making its first appearance in the Switch games, hopefully some of the other Pokemon that have yet to debut on the Switch make their appearances in these DLC as well.
