i am curently searching for a shiny magicarp to evolve into a red garados and i dont know where to start.

should swim around or fish?

Anyways...
Fish with an old rod. You'll only ever catch magikarp, so it will be a lot faster than if you have to sift through billions of tentacools.

Getting a shiny magikarp is pretty easy, Just use a old rod and you will get nothing other than magikarps.
