• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

The Isle of Armor & The Crown Tundra DLC - GENERAL DISCUSSION Thread

If they're bringing back Landorus, I hope they change his Intimidate ability. His ground/flying type and stats are good enough as it is but it's that Intimidate ability that truly makes his typing an annoyance to face. If it were me, I would literally give it the somewhat useless ability Unnerve.

yeah though they still left out the Gligar line in the DLC but Zorua and the gen 1-2 legends do add some content that im looking for. apparently there is also some new character clothing options to look forward to.
Gligar’s line may still be added in. We only got a tease of the 100+ pokémon that will be added to each update (200+ total). We just have to wait & see

This is why I hated battling legendaries in Gens 6-7. It was hard enough to beat just one of them (especially Mewtwo & the Weather Trio), and it got extremely annoying when they made up people’s entire teams. That’s why it was always so satisfactory when I did beat them in battle since I always saw them as guaranteed wins.

yeah, Gliscor isnt the best pokemon out there but i still really like the lines.

back in gen6 battling i liked at times VS those legendary teams with my RU,UU and 2 OU team members. i had and still continue that particular trend in the games that followed but the VGC14 mega Gardevoir EV set i put on my team always beat the legendary teams or atleast made a good dent to KO a few of their pokemon. though darkrai and mega Gengar still remained nasty as hell back in gen6 days. Gen7 Z moves really werent good against my team and the battling spirit i had in gen7 was a shadow of its gen6's equivalent.

To be fair there's a lot of options now that can completely negate pokemon that once dominated competitive. Landorus comes to mind and now it gets completely stomped on by Galarian Darmanitan and Corviknight.
People are still going to complain about it being over centralizing mainly for its legendary status. As someone who’s been on and off of competitive since Gen 5, I don’t mind its presence. If anything, I loathe to see the return of Chansey for stall but it’s still not that bad.

To be fair a few Abilities got reworked to now block Intimidate (and Rattled now grants a Speed boost in response to Intimidate). There is also Corviknight who can bounce back the Attack drops with Mirror Armour.

The two things I wonder:
1. They said there will be new pokémon but does that mean legendaries only or will there be new non legendaries as well. And if there are, then -how many.
2. Will there be other expansion passes? It feels like they are doing this instead of a game this year and I think there should be a gen 4 remake in 2021, but it wouldnt make much sense to add new dlc when a new game is already coming would it?

With Eternatus being #890 and 5 New Pokemon confirmed (Kubfu, Urshifu, Calyrex + 2 New Regies) I can see one more expansion in 2021 ( or even 2) with 5 more Legendaries so we will hit 900 Pokemon Mark. Of course, Im still expecting more Galarian and Gigantomax forms and Full dex by the possible DP remakes.

It would be nice to get Megas at some point but it's wishful thinking.

This is assuming they don't introduce other new regular Pokemon in the upcoming expansion pass.

I mean, it's a new location...it wouldn't be absurd to see completely brand new Pokemon wandering around.

Even if they don't introduce entirely new regular Pokemon, there's still the possibility of more new Pokemon similar to Runerigus or Mr. Rime. (evolutions of existing Pokemon)

What I'm alittle mad about is the fact I bought the double pack* at full price. Now they want me to blow another 60 to get this for both my games. Wtf why cant you make a double pack for people like me who now have to decide if they want to blow 60 dollars to get the dlc smh not very well thought out for a release and reveal.

I think everyone would want it. It was ages since a generation with 100+ New Pokemon (last Time it was gen 5). The quesion is it the 900 and 1000 Mark will come into Play. It would be totally awesome to reach the 1000 Mark this gen but I think no one is repeating 100 more Pokemon this gen...

That's why I think they will Play it safe with Galarian and Gigantomax forms.

I also believe we will get official reveals of Giga Toxtricity and Melmetal before Isle of Armor.

Galarian Slowpoke seems to indicate that as well, even though its just a galarian form it makes me think there might be more new non legendaries.

I don't believe there's any chance of us reaching 1000 Pokemon in this generation.

However I could see us getting somewhat close to that number. (like 930-960) I mean realistically if they do decide to add regular new Pokemon in this expansion pass I wouldn't expect the number to be very high. Something like 20-30.

(I should say that I'm kinda expecting a second expansion pass in 2021, so if they presumably add new Pokemon to both....I think we may get close to 1000)

1000 is just way too high I think, even in the best case scenario.

It also seems quite realistic to reach something between 920-940 this gen with Gen 9 hitting the 1000 Pokemon mark (as 60-80 new Pokemon seems like a standard now).

I do believe we are not moving from Switch till gen 10 at least:)

If they do add new pokémon I would love to see an ice-fairy type snowman for the icy expansion. Altough Darmanitan is already kind of a snowman so the changed are low

So since it's DLC does it mean there is no chance for it to be Datamined earlier than release date?

I just got to say, I’m super happy about this. I never thought I’d like DLC in pokemon, admittedly because I didn’t really think Gamefreak would be ambitious enough to do something worth the price, but I am so happy with this. Gamefreak managed to, for me at least, capture the excitement of a brand new game, for half the price.

and the cherry on top is of course the return of my Lycanroc lol

On the topic of new Pokemon/new forms, it's worth noticing that XY gave us 28 Megas (30 if you count Latias and Latios which were datamined but not officially reveled) while ORAS gave additional 20 (18 if we don't count Latias/Latios) which totalled in 48 Megas.

Interesingly SwSh gave us 27 Gigantamax Forms (I am counting Toxtricity, Melmetal and Eternatus) which is a number very close to the initial number of Megas. So do you think we migh get around 20 new Gigantamax forms by Expansions (for now we have 7 confirmed; Venusaur, Blastoise, Rillaboom, Cinderace, Intelon and 2 Urshifu forms)?

I would love to see a Galar vs Kalos war expansion which would also re-introduce all the Megas and have some awesome Giga vs Mega cutscenes:)

While I love everything else, there are just two things I don't like about the expansion pack:

  1. I'm not that fond of how all of the legendaries are coming back. I really like the Galarian forms of the legendary birds, & I'm fine with the ones that were already coded into the game, but the one thing I liked about the National Dex cut was that we finally had Wifi battles that didn't spam teams of all legendary pokemon (most likely all shiny ones). Now that they're back we'll have to deal with those kind of players all over again -_-
  2. I'm just hoping that the Isle of Armor & Crown Tundra are post game supported. Since the special Slowpoke you get at Wedgehurst Station is only level 12, I'm worried that these areas are meant to be first explored during your playthrough of the main story, so everyone who either beat the game or are close to beating it will be overleveled and sweep through everything, which to me takes most of the fun out of additional content.

Yeah its odd on how they are releasing expansion pack for two dlc for say $30 plus tax(usd)instead of another version of the game that's full price. Hopefully it will be easier catching those legendaries( i'm looking at you Ultra Worm Holes) it was annoying trying to find them. From looking watching a lot of Youtubers videos I'm starting to think they had this planned before the games where release but didn't know who to say oh we are going to have dlc for these games like other games. Due to DLC issues with games it annoys people because a lot of DLC have been lackluster in the ones I play. (Destiny and Destiny 2 i'm looking at thsoe).

As for the legendaries that are coming back I wonder if they are going to have their hidden abilities unlock and with updated move pools like Hurricane for Lugia and etc. Maybe next year they will do another expansion pass that will be a lot bigger than these also include more new GMax and Galar Forms. I'm still sad not to see Bagon line in the game yet. As for online battles they could do an update that say lock how many Legendaries you can use, that way you can't see whole team of shiny legends.
