Do any of you think we would get curry-based evolutions? I suggested on another forum that Pikachu could evolve into Alolan Raichu by eating curry pancakes, they mostly thought I was nuts. Heck, would curry pancakes even taste good? I've seen blood pancakes on Chopped and people DO eat those.
Though I would love a curry-based evolution, that's going to bring up problems later on down the line. Every game now needs to have a mossy rock, an icy rock, a magnetically charged area, a counterpart to Pokémon-Amie, a day/night cycle, gyro sensitivity, and an area where it's always raining. Those are a lot of requirements, though some are easier than others (and gyro is completely out of their hands, no pun intended, because it's based on the games' hardware). The only one that's been retconned into something else so far is Feebas (though we're very likely to get an alternate method with Meltan too). There is at least one confirmed Pokémon for all of these infrastructure-based evolution methods too. If they add any more, they'll either need to take out these Pokémon or have even less room to do other stuff in upcoming regions.
I think it's best to leave evolution methods easily future-proofed. I mean, it's still a tiny majority of the land area in a Pokémon game, but I don't think it should get more complicated than what we already have.
Yeah I reckon regional forms are only naturally evolvable/obtainable in their native region, bar gifts/trades with NPCs as in LGPE.
There might be a special region that allows these forms. Something like an inversion of Ultra Space, which allows you to do stuff like evolve Cubone into regular Marowak or Exeggcute into regular Exeggutor if you wish.
Personally I wouldn't mind if some of them were available in more than one region.
Like Alolan Exeggutor is said to be the original form of the Pokemon caused by the tropical climate and the smaller Exeggcutors in the other region are stunted due to getting less sun/less warm temperatures/etc. So it would only make sense for A.Exeggutor to be available in all tropical regions (granted the only actually tropical region right now is Alola, but we might get one later)
Likewise I'd see nothing wrong with A.Vulpix and A.Sandshrew being available in some of the particularly cold/snowy regions.
Not just tropical regions, but warm climates in general, I'd say, which is much of the range for palm trees in real life. If we get a region themed on the American Southwest, Mexico, or the Middle East (or somewhere in there), an Alolan Exeggutor would not look out of place. They'd probably have to call it something else though, like Tall Exeggutor, Original Exeggutor, or Toasty Exeggutor.
I like the idea of either having a certain hold item for breeding into a regional variant (breed 2 persian holding alola incense to get A. Meowth), or some environment that can allow you to evolve into a regional variant (Thunderstone on Pikachu at the Alola Zone to get A. Raichu). Of course, restricting the amount of Pokemon available in games in the future will allow these regional variants to be more limited to just that region (or trade exclusives), so it may not really matter.
I'm guessing that's what they'll do from here on out. A bummer if any of them happen to be useful. I'm sure many people would miss being able to use Alolan Marowak or Alolan Muk.
For the first generation that has the Dexit policy and the first main series generation on the Switch, you'd have expected marketing during the pre-release period to be through the roof.. to steady the ship after it was rocked by Dexit and to convince people like myself to buy both a Switch and the actual games.. obviously, this really wasn't the case this time around. Reasons for that get tossed around "GF don't care about the audience", "SM gave too much so we're getting less now, stop complaining", "They don't have much to show hence the lack of information" all or none of which could be true, if we're being honest, and none of us know. This close to launch, it's just a case of quitting the general assumptions and waiting to see, really.
Most likely, all of the pre-release information was planned out in advance, all the way up to the game's release, and it has to be that way because they all need some form of approval from higher-ups, which is a slow process. You're very likely to see a different marketing stregy for Generation IX, or perhaps even for whatever main series Pokémon game is next.
Aqua Jet as a TM is also.... interesting
I would want Aqua Jet as a TM, especially if Wishiwashi, my favorite fish-themed Pokémon, could learn it. That's really the one thing Wishiwashi really needs, since it's too predictable otherwise.
I also believe on this theory for the classic gym system, and I believe they determine the strength of the challenger by the number of badges they currently have. This theory also works well if every trainer have their own route they are taking which will determine the order of gyms they are challenging as well.
This is how I figured it's always been, since different trainers start from different places, and it wouldn't make sense for someone in Unova to, say, have to fight Drayden/Iris and their Haxorus first, then go counterclockwise down the Entralink Loop area and challenge Burgh's 20-levels-lower Pokémon sixth.
If this list was true then it would be all over the internet, which it isnt....
None of these leaks are all over the Internet. They're all low-key. Leaks have to be low-key because if they were more well known, the authorities would identify them, and the leakers would get in trouble.
I guarantee you that to the general gaming public, non-Pokémon fans don't know about any of these, and they might not know anything about
Sword and Shield other than that it exists, if they even know about it at all.
Evidence for this is found in the games as well. In Black and White 2 for instance Cheren notes he isn't using his regular/main team when he battles as a gym leader against the player character. In Sun and Moon both the Captains and Island Kahunas will use different pokemon of different levels depending on whether they are supposed to be battling "without holding back" or not.
I remember Nanu has at least three different teams of varying levels--all of them having Alolan Persian in them.
Cheren says that to explain to players why he had such high-level Pokémon in
Black and White, only to wind up with a Patrat and a Lillipup two years later, since there'd be plenty who play
Black 2 and White 2 and wonder why he's downgraded so severely or what happened to his original Pokémon. Arguably, you can see signs of this as early as Generation II, as Blue's team, as the Gym Leader of Viridian City, is quite different from his team as Champion of Kanto and at a lower level, indicating that he has a new team.
Why? It could be a leak, not datamining. Names of Pokemon sound right and are somewhat original:
Impidus: imp+succubus
Frostilla: frost+gorilla or godzilla
Snonolith: snow+monolith
Barrazucca: barracuda+bazooka
Troublin: trouble+goblin
Grabble: grab+no idea sorry for "ble" part
Mechanos: mech+¿chanos? (a type of fish)
Smudgsqueek: smudge+squeak
Inferver: infernal+¿fever?
Clautant: no idea for "Claut" part+ant
Heh, I thought of "frost" + "tortilla." But I think I just eat Mexican food a lot, and I figured it's probably not it. (But you never know. If it looks like a taco, that might be it...)
Grabble seems to be "grab" +"grapple," which would be interesting considering Throh is confirmed in, which is the Pokémon most associated with grapple-based martial arts.
Mechanos is likely just "mechanical." A number of Pokémon have that suffix, like Gyarados, Cranidos/Rampardos, Ampharos, Tauros, Latios, and possibly Heracross. They're concentrated in the earlier generations. Zapdos is the only one with that suffix whose portmanteau is obvious. The others are probably for style.
Inferver looks to me to be "inferno" + "fervor."
Clautant can be many different things, but what comes to mind for me is "claw" + "mutant."
Do we have anything as overtly sexual as a succubus/incubus in Pokemon? As in, something a child could realistically look up the inspiration for, whether name or design, and see inappropriate material?
We got Salazzle, which is as close as we can get to a Pokémon whose life revolves around having sex.
You guys are forgetting one thing. In Japan Dark is the "Evil" type. So even debating putting a version exclusive gym is a big step, if true. Also even with having version exclusive gyms a couple will be cut so Dark making it will be a big dea .
It refers to underhanded, sneaky, and otherwise not-very-good-looking tactics, but Dark-type specialists themselves, more often than not, are on the up-and-up. Karen is a good person who chooses to follow her own rules. Grimsley simply likes to put on a persona and is otherwise a chill guy who likes to have fun. Nanu is his island's chief of police and has kept Team Skull's power in check by himself. What characterizes these three and other Dark-type specialists (such as Sidney, who is neutral as far as I can tell) are a detached, introverted personality and a tendency to decide on their own what they think is right, which is not necessarily evil, just weird from some other people's perspective, especially from a collectivist society like Japan.
Okay so nobody else has said it so I’m going to say it:
Galarian Purugly with Ghost Typing = Cheshire Cat ?!?!? *squeals* *builds Wonderland team*
Could also help with my attempts to build a team themed on housecats. More type variety is wonderful for themed teams like these!

Card artist confirms their drawings aren't real Pokemon. Now I'm just insanely jealous that someone can make that many great looking fakemon that quickly ._.
I very much doubt he made them on the spot. He likely designed them in advance, then had them as references as he drew them again.
I really kinda find the "Announcements of Announcements" kidna silly. At one point we'll get an "Announcement of an Announcement of an Announcement" Like "Next Monday we'll announce the date for the next trailer"
Well, Apple's been doing that for decades, so it's not like we've never seen them before. Disney's been doing them a lot lately too.
I think it’d be hilarious if his successor is named either Mario or Luigi and they have a mustache.
Well, we already have a Nintendo-related person named Mario. He is named after the landlord where Nintendo of America HQ originally was. Legend says they were behind on rent, and Mario Segali burst into the room during a meeting to demand payment. (No, SEGA was not named after him; that's an abbreviation for "Service Games." Kirby was named after the attorney who helped Nintendo win the case against Universal Studios over the use of the word "Kong," however.)
Luigi, on the other hand, is simply a Japanese pun and isn't named after anyone in particular.
