• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

The Isle of Armor & The Crown Tundra DLC - RUMOR & SPECULATION Thread [Spoilers]

I mean, weren't ORAS's Mega Evolutions incompatible to use for even online play against X & Y users.
Same thing with USUM’s additions like the new Pokémon/forms, (Z) moves, and even clothing iirc.

Oh, I wouldn't care about compatibility issues, lol.

I'm not being realistic at all. Dynamaxing is likely coming back.

But I really don't want it to.

I mean, it's not a deal breaker, especially if the next games are sinnoh remakes, but I would like to enjoy battling again without having to find players to play with online under the imaginary ruleset that you can't Dynamax.

It's a personal gripe and means nothing in the end.

Yes, but that was only a few temporary forms of Pokémon out of the 721 of the entire set. USUM has a 5 Pokémon that isn't present in Sun/Moon.

I could see them just keeping the currently useable Gen 8 Pokémon, in DP-Remake quite easily. But then Gen 8 broke the fact that you have a Living National dex in game.

They were, but if they weren't involved, the games were compatible. Just like how Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are otherwise fully compatible as long as Poipole, Naganadel, Stakataka, Blacephalon, and the non-base forms of Necrozma are not involved.

What about Zeraora?

I personally wouldn't mind if Dynamax came back. I've been incorporating in a lot of my competitive strategies (both in advance & on the spot) and they provide a fun kind of challenge & unpredictability that I'm used to in the anime. The main reason why I didn't like competitive battling was that it was too predictable, formulaic, & by the numbers (especially with Smogon's rulesets & everyone treating them as law), but Dynamax helped shake up the metagame & made it feel more like a mix between luck and strategy

There would be compatibility issues with Sword and Shield if that were the case though, especially in regards to Max Raid Battles. Every main series Pokémon game within a generation has had compatibility with each other, and I reallyy can't see Game Freak make these theoretical Sinnoh games incompatible with the Galar games.

Unless you mean in just the story while Dynamax and Gigantamax are still used in online play, like the Alola games were with Mega Stones.

I wouldn't be fond of compatibility issues. It's one of the biggest problems with the Gen 6-7 games (and to somewhat similar extent FR/LG) since it made the earlier titles basically obsolete and it practically felt like you were forced to buy the newest versions. If that were the case I'd rather they'd just patch megas into all of the Switch games than have to deal with that again
