The Johto Journeys

Lack of anything decent.

CyberCubed

Yeah, ok!
Because the majority of it sucked.

There were some good episodes here and there, but you had to crawl your way through so much crap just to get to the good stuff, that in the end it just wasn't worth it.

If you want to see a 3-year saga done right, watch either the AG or D/P series. At the very least, at least the writers learned from their mistakes of how boring tons and tons of filler can be and decided to fix things with AG, and D/P looks to be on par quality wise.

it dragged on and on and on and on and on with little to no character depth or anything that would make it different than Indigo.

"A whole new world" my ***. The Orange Islands at least attempted to be creative with their backdrops.

I was frozen today!
It promised a lot and failed to deliver. We ended up saddled with a bunch of boring plots and virtually no character development for anybody. There were a few bright spots, but overall, Jouto was one big example of "they're not even trying anymore".

Because It was long, boring and no effort was included in it

I think they just tried to kill pokemon, there is no other explanation as to why they needed that many filler episodes...it was when pokem on slumped in popularity for a while

Kinslayer

Nevermore...
I think that's why Pokemon's popularity (at least its "fad" status in the states) went down. Johto just shot the franchise in the foot. But, R/S and AG really brought back old fans that may have gotten out of Pokemon during Johto's reign.

I'm sure they didn't do it purposely. Obviously they looked back at what went wrong that saga which was why Hoenn was so much more enjoyable.

If Johto was reduced by half and they instead used that time for a short filler saga instead, it would have been much better.

You know how awful Hoenn would have been if it had to be stretched out over 4 years till D/P came out? The best thing they did with Hoenn was end it before it got really stretched out and then make a 1 year filler saga to bridge the gap between the new games.

Johto had no "extra saga" at the end, which is why we had to sit through so much filler as we did.

It wasn't that bad, IMO. Although the pokes were very boring and weak.

Johto Journies had a ton of awesome episodes though.
Horny Ursaring, Wobbuffet, the ever-perverted Heracross, Mid-life crisis Gligar-man, The Arbo-Tank, Charizard getting the feck outta there, the absolute insanity that was the Sprout Tower ep, Jessie in Chansey school, Wobbuffet, Heracross vs. Scizor, Ash & Misty fighting over a manic crocodile, ASH ACTUALLY TRAINING SOMETHING, The flaming Moltres, OTT Falkner, Noctowl in: The Forest of Illusion, Wobbuffet, the cry-baby Marril episode...the list goes on.

When you do take the time to look back at the Johto Journies...or hell, Johto as a whole...it really isn't as bad as a lot of people make it out to be. Yeah, there were a lot of filler episodes scattered throughout. But damn, a lot of them were actually really fun.

What you call fun, most would call pointless.

So what if it was pointless? About 80% of the crud that happened in Kanto was pointless, yet everyone seems to gush over that like it was the best material ever. The whole freaking Orange Islands region was pointless, yet tons of people love that season. I don't see why decent Johto filler shouldn't be put in the same boat, just because the entire quest was a lot longer.

damn johto was 3 years, thats probably why I can't remember half of them.anywho Gravy does have a piont. not every saga is perfect, but none are not that bad either.besides the beginning of johto was fun and the middle/half of the end was alittle bit boring with a few exceptions.though you have to give the writers some credit for master quest with the lugia;249; ,claire;149; ,and silver conference;257;arcs.

Jotho journeys were wack
Jotho league chanpions was a bit better
Master Quest was very good and has some of the best episodes showcased in pokemon (suicune episode) also some of the wurst (Entei episode). Silver conference was a good tournament (ash finally beating Gary)

Houen imo was more wack ,what's up with streching out battle frontier aaaaaaaaaaal the way back to kanto??? Was there nothin more to do in houen? I mean grand festival was wack ,houen league was wack and a whoile season wasted at the batllefrontier (prob because they just wanted to Sell emerald).

Kanto was the best I think ,esspecially the built up to the first movie ,thats how groudon and kyogre should had been honered in houen....with a movie about there battle ,not some wack episode about a human and a pikachu controlling them, how lame is that?!?! and were was rayquaza? What a great way to mess up a Legend/Myth!

I'll have to see how they do it Sinnoh ,but if they gonna do it like the 3rd gen it's gonna be wack for sure ,it has to be more like the first gen and really built up to the movies properly ,so they started out good with emuritto in the first ep ,but we'll see. There are way to many legendaries ,I wonder how they wanna show case them all ,they cant all have movies. But it's clear ,to me atlast that this will be the longest generation to date , it will atleast be 5 years with one or moybe even 2 filler seasons cause shinou is a vast large region ,just think about the underground and such.
