• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.

I dropped the spider-man movie since my friend wasn't interested. We will go for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts next week

Didn't get around to posting about it here, but Across the Spider-Verse was incredible. I don't say this lightly, as I love Spider-Man 2 unconditionally, but it might be a contender for the best Spider-Man movie period. Probably better let it marinate before I start making wild claims like that though.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts - 7/10
I'm a huge Transformers fan, it's my ultimate comfort franchise, and I've been looking forward to this movie for a while. It wasn't bad, it takes a while to get going but once the set-up is out of the way the story moves pretty quickly and is never boring.
There are still a few issues carried over from the older movies: even though the human cast is smaller the focus is still mostly on them, and most of the Transformers don't say or do very much. Cheetor and Rhinox were two of my favourite Transformers as a kid, and here they do nothing but stand in the background while other characters are talking.
Overall I enjoyed the movie, probably not enough to watch it again any time soon, but perhaps enough to get at least a handful of the action figures.

Yesterday I watched Forsage-10. It has an unfinished perspective. Now still have to wait a couple of years, as very intrigued. I like it.

My Dad wanted to watch Shazam, so i watched it with him.

I was busy predicting things before they happened.

"Oh i bet that will be the bad guy" & "I saw previews for the sequel, i won't spoil the next part"

Went to see Kiki's Delivery Service in theaters last night as part of Ghibli Fest. It's my favorite Miyazaki movie and still holds up exceptionally well. I love how there are just stretches of the movie where nothing happens plot-wise, but it somehow adds so much, making it feel like the characters have their own agency and the world is more lived in. You don't see many animated movies doing that nowadays.

Also love the message of keeping your passions burning even in the midst of the mundanity of life, and how there's nothing wrong with stepping back and taking a breather every now and then. That appealed to me a lot when I first saw it as a college student, and it speaks to me even more now as a working adult.

Unfortunately missed Totoro and Ponyo in theaters, but maybe I'll catch them next year. Already about to get my tickets for Nausicaa and Castle in the Sky next month.

Just rewatched The Shawshank Redemption via Tubi. It still holds up. Gets a 10/10 from me.

Just rewatched Twister. Still holds up and it's a good popcorn movie. 8/10

One of those movies where whenever I see it’s on, I just have to stop and watch. So amazing.
Same. It's one of those movies that's timeless.
