The Legend of Zelda®: Twilight Princess

Format: Wii™,Gamecube
Launch Date: Q4 2006
ESRB: RP (Rating Pending)
Game Type: Adventure
Players: 1
Developer: Nintendo

KEY INFORMATION

When an evil darkness enshrouds the land of Hyrule, a young farm boy named Link must awaken the hero – and the animal – within.
• When Link travels to the Twilight Realm, he transforms into a wolf and must scour the land with the help of a mysterious girl named Midna. Using the power and unique control of the Wii console, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess features incredibly precise aiming control using the Wii Remote.
• The Wii Remote and the Nunchuk controller are used for a variety of game activities, including fishing and special sword attacks.
• Players ride into battle against troops of foul creatures using an amazing horseback combat system, then take on massive bosses that must be seen to be believed.
• Many puzzles stand between Link and the fulfillment of his quest, so players must sharpen their wits as they hunt for weapons and items.

Game storyline: Link, a young man raised as a wrangler in a small, rural village, is ordered by the mayor to attend the Hyrule Summit. He sets off, oblivious to the dark fate that has descended upon the kingdom. When he enters the Twilight Realm that has covered Hyrule, he transforms into a wolf and is captured. A mysterious figure named Midna helps him break free. With the aid of her magic, they set off to free the land from the shadows.

Characters: Link, Zelda, Midna and many other characters, both new and old.

How to progress through the game: Link must explore the vast land of Hyrule and uncover the mystery behind its plunge into darkness. As he does, he’ll have to enlist the aid of friendly folk, solve puzzles and battle his way through dangerous dungeons. In the Twilight Realm, he’ll have to use his wolf abilities and Midna’s magic to bring light to the land.

Special powers/weapons/moves/features: Besides his trusty sword and shield, Link will use his bow and arrows, fight while on horseback and use a wealth of other items, both new and old. Players can use the Wii Remote as a fishing pole, while a spin of the Nunchuk controller executes a spin attack.

Now I want to buy it even more. I don't like the idea of having to re-buy the game for the Wii though.

I would much rather play Zelda on my GameCube then with the remote. I just like the controller better. While the Wii handling is unique, I like playing Zelda the classic way. But I have one question. Will Wii's Twilight Princess have better graphics then its GameCube counterpart?

Both versions are coming out on the same day...so its just buy one or the other

Didn't know that. Thanks.

I don't think so, however it's not a bad idea. To me, it seems like Nintendo is just porting TP onto the Wii with its controller enhancements and such.

I hope the graphics are better on the Wii. I know it's possible. However, if it isn't better, I'll live. It's only graphics.

I'm debating on which version to get of Zelda. I like the idea of having the Wii control, however at the same time I'm not sure how comfortable I'll be playign with the remote. It's down to the controller of the Wii in the end when it comes down to which version I get. I personally don't think the graphics are much better/worse either way, and as such, and as always, they aren't going to influence which one I buy.

The graphics I saw on the Video with Zelda did sem to be a little bit better than the Cube ones, but that could just be me

It's probably to do with the higher power of the Wii - even though it's just playing back the same GC code with Wii controller functionality, the improved power means that it looks a bit sharper and runs a bit smoother.

I'll buy it on the GameCube, since I probably won't be getting the Revolution for a while...

I like the GameCube's controller style a lot better. The Revolution's is cool looking, but I don't think I'll adjust well when switching between classic controller and remote. And I don't want to have to do all the cable-connecting work. I'm lazy like that. :p But I'm still a Zelda game collector...so I have to eventually buy it.

Anyone who's not sure what system to get it for, here's my suggestion. Revolution (I'm always gonna call it that). Think about it. The Rev still uses GCN controllers if you want, so you can probably play through it with a GCN controller, the same way you would for the normal Cube version.

The way the Revolution looks, there is no plug for the controllers. The Revolution's remote controller is wireless, as seen here.

Actually, no. I saw actual pics of the Rev and stuff, and it can use GCN controllers.

(Sorry if this is off-topic)

Anyway, so far this game looks awesome. I figured there'd be a fishing thing using the Rev's controller. Hopefully every once in a while there might be a hack-and-slash sword duel. Like, bothyou and the enemy stand in one spot and kill each other. *shot*

Hey! Listen!
I'm getting the Wii version, as I'll probably be getting a Wii for my birthday anyway.

I'd like to see a picture of the GameCube controller slots on the Revolution.

If I ever get the Revolution, I'll buy the Revolution version. But the chances of that are slim to none...:(

I never thought of that Nintendo Freak. I hope your right. I don't want to buy two copies of the game.

I doubt the Wii version would let you switch between contollers. If not (which I assume), go with the classic GCN controller. You don't get the same Zelda experience with the remote. Thats just my take on it. Which version you buy depends on which controller you prefer. Thats why it might be good to test the Revolution controller before you decide.

By the way, anyone notice the items link has equipped in that screenshot?

To me, it looks like Midna, Boomerang, Iron Boots, and Arrows...or did you mean something else?

I don't see why not. I mean, the Wii disks can hold more information and whatnot on them. The only things we know is that the Wii version has (possibly) better graphics and a fairy. So if they took the Gamecube version and put it on the Wii, there could still be room for another controller setting. Even with (possible) better graphics and a fairy.

Anyway, back on-topic,

Apparently, by the looks of it, you can switch from Link to Midna anytime? Odd. Why does it have her equipped as an item?! xD
