I have been searching for a Raikou for a long time but I haven't seen one in my leaf green game yet. Due to this, it does not appear in my pokedex. My method is to blindly search in a patch of grass for a few minutes then fly to a random city and search in another patch of grass for a few minutes again. I also have a level 55 wobbuffet in the number one spot. Is this method a good one?

I think another method is to have a pokemon at about level 49 and then use repels.

Has anyone got any tips on finding the legendary beasts?
This is really annoying me as I want to restart my game and this is the last task that I wish to complete.
Thanks in advance.

(And yes I have beat the elite 4 so it should be wild in Kanto). ;)

Maybe I should get an Exploud then, are you sure it disappears forever?

Oh and there isn't an item I can give to wobbuffet to make it soundproof or vice versa an item I can give to Exploud to stop a pokemon fleeing is there?

Well, the best strategy is usually the most irritating one to go through with, but it works in almost all cases, funnily enough...

Do this: nothing.

Yep. Continue playing as you would if you weren't searching, and it will pop up sooner or later (be prepared, though!). In my Ruby I defeated the league on Sunday and I carried on playing, beating trainers, collecting items, training and so forth and the Wednesday after that I saw (and caught) Latios while going through a patch of grass to plant a berry. Be patient, when it appears, it will be worth it.

Finally some success... well maybe not. I switched my game on and I found Raikou south of pallet town. I got it's health down in the red with mirror coat and I threw a few ultra balls but the damn thing roared :( . I reset my game just to be safe. Because I saved my game in pallet town does this mean everytime I switch my game on Raikou will be just below there?

Dude, I know what i'm talking about, i woludn't say somthing if I wasn't shure.

And I doesn't matter whether it's red or yellow cuse it'sa legendary, and with legendarys all pokeballs loose their efects and it chances turn into pure luck so it doesn't matter what you do with legendarys

Surprise buttsecks!
a crobat is a good idea because its fast mean look it so it wont escape then tuant it to stop it from roaring and then just throw the balls good luck!

No, it doesn't.
Why'd you go do something like that?!
If you got it's health "down into the red" you should have saved. That way, it would have been easier to catch next time! (certainly easier than catching it with it's health in the green zone, legendary or not)
BTW. It doesn't make a difference if you have seen Raikou before, the chances of it appearing again are the same as before. If you reset your game just because of something you read in this thread, you've been given false information and it resulted in your progress in catching Raikou being significantly slowed.

To find my Legendary Dog I went to the grass above Vermillion. Then I had a pokemon that was level 45 for my lead pokemon and I used Max Repels. After the Max Repels wore off I went into the building that has the path and went right back out. Then I used another Max Repel and repeated the process until 20 minutes later I found my dog.

Rod's wrong, it will not disappear forever.

Anyway, here's what I did. Go to the building that connects Celadon and Saffron. Put a level 30 to 40 in the front of your team and use a repel. Save it. Then walk outside to the patch of grass near Celadon. Walk around a bit. Then restart if you don't see it. Repeat and you'll find it with in minutes. It worked for me.
I'm sorry. I used my master ball to catch the dog. My method is just to find it. If you're not using a master ball, then good luck.

Sounds like a good method. I'll try that on Emerald where I'm looking for a Latios.
