The Main Character's Star Pokémon Thread

Here's the deal. Pikachu is Ash's longest owned Pokémon, so would you say he is Ash's star Pokémon? I wouldn't.

This is mainly a thread to discuss who you think is each main character's star Pokémon and the reason. Maybe even what you consider to be a star Pokémon in the first place.

It could be for Kanto, or Hoenn, or overall, although overall would be mcuh better.

In my opinion, I'd have to say Buizel has become Ash's star Pokémon in Sinnoh so far, but that's only because he's been used a lot and won a lot for him. Dawn's is obviously Piplup in that respect, but I'd have to say for me personally, Pachirisu is her star Pokémon.

He's strong, cute, hilarious to watch (sometimes), and makes me smile.

So, in short, what do you think makes a star Pokémon, and which of each main character's (old and new) rosta do you think qualifiies?

For overall it's either Pikachu or Charizard for Ash.
For Brock overall Steelix is alright, though Croagunk ain't far behind.
May is at her place with Blaziken or Beautifly.
For Misty, it's hard assuming which poke'moin it could be. It could be Staryu or Togepi. Psyduck was also somewhat of a star, and Gyrados left a mark as well.
Dawn's star poke'mon is definitely Piplup.
Tracey's star poke'mon is also hard to find out between Scyther and Marill.

Johto: Cyndiquil, because the thing was used in almost every gym, although Charizard is in close second as it won Ash tons of major battles.
Hoenn: Sceptile, definatly
Sinnoh: I would've said Turtwig, but since Hearthome, it has to be Buizel.

Id say a star pokemon is one that does the most during the region, in case of gym and league battles, but also developing story, such as new moves and reasons for evolving other then "Team rocket got pikachu again".

Well, the star tends to change with the times. At first, Ash's star was obviously Pikachu, and it stayed as such (backed up by the starters) throughout the series up until Charizard became obedient, in which case they took equal billing. Obviously Charizard then left, and Cyndaquil and Bayleef became the supporters to Pikachu, with Charizard stealing the spotlight for the league.
Then along came AG, and the stardom was originally Treecko's, with Corphish as a supporter and eventually Swellow joinging Grovyle at the forefront. Glalie became a star for the league only. In the BF Grovyle/Sceptile was the star, with Donphan, Swellow and Corphish supporting, along with the return-of-the-day. Pikachu stole it all back in the last couple of facilities. The stars for Sinnoh were at first Turtwig and Aipom, but they've been usurped by Buizel since then. I think a change in the group dynamic is somewhat due, with the two recent evolutions
Now, as for Brock, Onix was always his signature pokemon before being replaced by... well, nothing really. Forretress, Mudkip and Lotad did very little really. Croagunk is the only pokemon who can claim to be a star in his own right. Dawn has blatently just had Piplup at the forefront with Ambipom and Buneary for back-up and Swinub in the entourage. I think she has a fifth one too...
As for May, it was Beautifly at first, then Skitty, and then finally Combusken, and that stayed for the rest of her time on the cast. Maybe you could say that Glaceon made the biggest impact in her return appearance. I won't even discuss Drew, Harley, Zoey, Kenny, Gary, Jessie, James and Paul due to the obviousness, and Misty's pokemon never had a big effect on me.

Brock: Zubat-line. For him, he used them alot especially once he got Crobat.
Jessie: Wobbuffet!
James: Victreebel. I saw it alot more than Weezing by this point.

Hoenn:
Ash: Grovyle.
May: Beautifly at this point.
Brock: Uh...geesh, I actually think the Lotad-line did more overall than Mudkip.
Jessie: Seviper. Main battling one.
James: Cacnea.

Battle Frontier:
Ash: Sceptile.
May: Combusken. By now, it had taken stage.
Brock: Mudkip/Marshtomp became a little more important now...for Brock.
Jessie: Still Seviper.
James: I say Mime Jr. appeared more than Cacnea now.

Sinnoh:
Ash: Turtwig. Seriously, he's done alot more than Buizel despite the Gym Battles.
Dawn; Piplup. Duh.
Brock: Croagunk...like, compared to every Pokemon he's ever had.
Jessie: Still Seviper...

I think each character has two stars at all times. One tyhat is a tiny, cute, unevolved powerhouse and one that is a strong evolved one

Yeah, ok!
For May it really was Combusken and Beautifly, the others got good screentime though.

I've noticed that each of May's Pokemon got to battle in two contests except for Eevee (because it came too late), and Munchlax...but they were both in Grand Festival battles anyway, and Glaceon later in the Wallace cup.

Well each character had a temporary star for each region, but they all have their own overall star.
Ash- Pikachu
Brock- Geodude (I like Croagunk, but he had Geodude for the longest time)
Misty- Psyduck
May- Beautifly
Dawn- Piplup

For me, the star Pokemon is the one that is out of its Pokeball the most. Simple as that.
