Night Terror
The Original Mew Trick

-Make sure you haven't battled the Gambler with two Poliwags and a Poliwhirl. He is facing the Underground Path toward Celadon city...on Route 8. Also, make sure you haven't fought the Youngster on Route 24, he's just after a Hiker and is facing North. If you have, the code won't work.

-You need Fly. (Aka HM02)

-Get some Ultra Balls, and anything else you would use to catch a Level 7 Mew, that only knows Pound.

Go to the Gambler I talked about before. Save AT the door he is facing. Don't make him battle you. SAVE HERE, this is tricky. Now, step one step towards him, and PRESS START. Really fast. If you did it right, the menu will pop up, but he won't battle you. Now Fly to Cerulean City.
[If you've done this right, after you use Fly, he will get the "!" over his head]

Note: You cannot use START, A, or B.

Note: Do NOT save anywhere after this. First of all, you can't save when your buttons don't work. But second, when they work again, saving will ruin the Mew code, and not allow you to get the Mew. Ever. Keep your saved file from before you battled the Gambler.

[If you've done this right, you can't press Start]
Walk (you can't use start) to the Youngster, and when you battle him, make sure he WALKS TO YOU. Don't go directly in front of him. Beat him, and (now your buttons work) Fly to Lavender Town (Or Saffron City).

[If you've done this right, the Start menu WILL pop up when it should]
Now if you went to Lavender, go to the left of town, and start to enter that narrow passageway. If you went to Saffron, go right, to where the guard lets you past if you give him a drink. Either way, the Start menu will pop up. Do NOT save here. Press B. Mew will appear. This is your ONLY chance. (unless you go to your save file before the Gambler) Ta-Da...its a Mew.

Check this video for a run through of how it's done:

The Newer Mew Trick

1. Have a pokemon with a special of 21
2 Fly away from the Gambler battle on route 8(left of lavender)
3. find any trainer and battle him
4. Fly to anywhere that has a Ditto in the wild
5. Let the wild Ditto transform into your Pokémon with the special of 21
6. Beat the Ditto (or just run away)
DO NOT FACE ANY OTHER POKEMON AFTER THIS!
7. return to route 8 (go to lavender, and walk to the left on that path)
8. if you did the trick correctly, you should be facing another Lvl 7 Mew!

You can also use this to get other pokemon. Do as above, but instead of a pokemon with a special of 21, use a pokemon of the special listed below.

There are a ton more that me and pokeglitch found but these are the ones that I found (I think)

(edits out bad words)

Yeah I have more this is only a fraction of the list for all of the obtainables

(this trick uses the same hex codes as a Gameshark)

-----

I am not an expert on this, but a new glitch has been found for Pokemon Red and Blue. It allows for any Pokemon at level 1 (that has been created from the Mew
Glitch) that has 'fading' experience points (different Pokemon have different formulas to calculate the experience needed to get to 100) (Fading growth is Mew along with any 3-stage evolution line except Butterfree, Beedrill, and Dragonite) to instantly level to 100 because of a problem in the formula for level 1 Pokemon.

I can not explain the glitch very well, but here are two good posts I found which will describe better than I can.

"I don't know if this is old news but I found it out myself and haven't seen it anywhere on the internet. You can get any monster at any level from 1 to 13. The variable that determines the level is the enemy's attack stat modifier, lowest being 1 and highest 13. The default (in the middle) is 7. So, if you want a Mew at level 1, simply use Growl six times on the Slowpoke before killing it."

(From http://boards.gamefaqs.com/gfaqs/genmessage.php?board=907714&topic=3 3987402 by kirbymuncher)

"A mew at level 1, since it has a fading growth pattern, has - 54 Exp points. Since EXp was never supposed to go below zero, it wraps around to16,777,162 exp points. This is enough for the Mew to be at level 245, but this doesn't happen because there is no battle, which recalculates its EXP points.

If you go into a battle with the Mew where it gains less than 54 ExP points, it will stay in the negatives. The game will recalculate its level, and then drop it down to level 100 (It can't be higher). This presents a very fast way to level up to level 100. This could be used extensivly in speedruns.

And yes, I have something against the words "eXp points""

And lastly here is a post from http://tasvideos.org/forum/viewtopic.php?p=119420#119420 by Mr. Pwnage :

"
For a long time, it was wondered where the number 7 for the enemy level comes from. Since the first week of the discovery, levels such as 8 or 9 were known to happen, but their cause was a mystery. What's a variable with a default value of 7? The answer, as it turns out, is stat modifier variables. The range of -6 to +6 is represented using the numbers 1-13. And as it was recently uncovered, the opponent's Attack stat modifier is what's been controlling the level, and since the mindset of performing FCBM (which stands for fight-cancelled battle manipulation, the term I've given to describe this so-called "Trainer/Fly" glitch) usually just wants you to dispatch the Pokemon used to manipulate the fight quickly, Attack modifiers rarely got a chance to matter, leading to the belief that level 7 is just what "happened".

So you can find your Mew, or whatever else you want, at a level from 1-13 (though levels 8 and up will require that the enemy has Swords Dance or something similar). As it turns out, level 1 (and only level 1) is the key here. There are four different formulas determining how EXP leads to level growth, and three of them are just scalars applied to L^3. The fourth one is more complex, 1.2L^3 - 15L^2 + 100L - 140. The first few levels for these "Fading" schedule Pokemon require very few EXP--what's interesting is the result of that formula for levels less than 2. No Pokemon was ever supposed to exist below level 2, so it was thought that the hole in this formula didn't matter. But now that you've seen that you can catch a Pokemon at level 1, it becomes relevant. A Fading-schedule Pokemon at level 0 has -140 EXP, and at level 1 it has -54. The game expects EXP to be 24 bits unsigned, so treats these signed values as the unsigned 16777076 and 16777162, respectively. Indeed, if you check the information on your level-1 Mew, you'll find that its EXP Points are a non-character tile followed by 77162.

Because the game has no reason to believe experience should ever go negative, that level-1 Mew is treated as if it really does have over 16 million EXP, which would be enough for level 245. If you can get the game to recalculate level on that, it'll be considered as 245 and then immediately be brought down to 100 like all Pokemon of level 101+ are upon participating in battle. But as I just tested, this check is made after the experience is awarded, and if you get enough to wrap around to 0 or a bit more, this won't come into play and Mew will be treated like just another low-level Pokemon. You'll need to get 53 or fewer experience awarded to Mew in order to trigger the event.
