This is part one of the triple header with Cassidy/Butch and Richie. Though the gag where Butch's name is pronounced incorrectly wasn't really all that distinguishable, Misty sounded like she said Butch and not Botch.

Lugia looked fearsome in this episode, protective mother alright.

I'm pretty sure she said "Buzz". I dunno where she got that from, since, even though it's hard to tell what his name is when he says it (even I thought it was 'Botch' when I first saw them for the first time in "Pikachu Revolts"), "Buzz" is a far cry from "Butch".

This is one of my Jhoto favorites. We get to see some old reoccuring characters - Richie, Butch, and Cassidy. And a new one. Oliver is a cute kid. He Silver look cute together.

I really loved this three-parter with Lugia, Richie, and Butch and Cassidy. I think it's definitely one of the great multi-episode arcs of the series (I think the Larvitar arc was one of my top favorites). It was nice seeing old faces again, and the professor was funny if a bit goofy. Too bad we've had to wait three years for Butch and Cassidy to show up again (with the Chronicles coming to the US), though. At least I liked Richie's new pupitar, and Silver was cute. :)

Silver....Wow, how original ¬_¬

I don't really like Oliver. His character's fine(if a bit overemotional), but his design and voice are just blegh.

Lanturn makes a fair few appearances in the beginning and end of Master Quest, I noticed. And always with a different voice:eek:.

This episode breaks the Legendary Law, but oh well. It's a nice touch, really.

Luka returns, too. That's cool, Luka's an interesting character. Better than Oliver ._.

I don't like Butch and Cassidy all that much, but the rivalry between the females of the two teams is pretty cool nonetheless;).

I liked Pupitar's voice, for some reason. It seemed fitting, somehow.

Lugia's parental instincts are excellent. Touching, even. Glad to see that the Law being breached was worth it =D

Overall rating:
8.5 out of 10
Not bad, not good. A decent introduction to the actual Lugia and Silver arc.

Poor review. Kinda lame for the return of Richie and Butch and Cassidy AND Lugia! You'd think they'd do a better job. Richie didn't face Ash leaving yet another cliffhanger. Butch and Cassidys roles were like Jessie and James, they used a stupid machine instead of using a creative plan like normally. And Lugia just blew up stuff. It didn't talk or communicate just played a stupid mother pokemons role. And 1 more thing. I know games is not equal to anime. But how on this beautiful Earth can Lugia breed???!!!!!! I know this episode aired years ago but I'm really glad that they're doing better with AG than Johto. Although Groudon vs Kyogre wasn't great either.

I totally agree with you ,it still annoys me ,since lugia is my favorite legendary and they really pulled one over on him with this one......

A Baby ,A female?!?!?! You gotta be F-ing kidding me? These 4 eps are simply a disgrace to pokemon and should be removed and erased ,thats all I got to say about this. I would really like to meet the damn n00b who came up with the idea to feature lugia in the anime with a damn baby!! Way the go you morron ,now everybody thinks of all the legends lugia is lowest in rank ,since thats the only one ever showcased with a baby!!!

And some legends are really 1-ffs , namely Groudon/kyogre/rayquaza,suicune,entei,raikou,Mewto, Parukia/diaruga and Ho-ho.

Pretty disapointing that my favorite gets raped like this ,it's an outrage ,I hope the dude who wrote these eps ,got is N00bish ***** Fired!! And if he isnt ,they should do that RIGHT NOW before HE/She messes up more!

It seems that apart from this episode, Ash has never once mentioned meeting any of the other legendaries. Except for this episode. Which i found myself relieved. I found this a decent episode, featuring my all time favorite pokemon. Not only that, but i do believe that most of you dont know that Lugia is based off the greek Halcyon, which in this episode, is exactly what it acts like(or pretty close anyways).

I also dont like how people consider this a three parter, when: Hi Ho Silver... Away! clearly introduces you to it(if only being at the end really). Although, in the next couple of episodes(A Parent Trapped, A Promis is a Promise), they completely screwed up what Lugia's Aeroblast looks like. I liked it better in Pokemon 2000 then in this one, as in this one it looks like a blue hyperbeam, which Aeroblast clearly isnt.

Pretty good starting episode for the three-part, Mother-Lugia looked great in here

This episode was good. Yup, good ol’ oldies episode. It was cool to see Dr. Nanba again instead of hearing him via radio. Great to see Lugia again after so long.

A good episode to start out the Lugia trilogy, nice seeing Richie again and seeing that he's caught himself a Pupitar, most likely to combat Ashes Charizard if they ever meet again. The baby Lugia was very cute and the mother was equally cool looking, also love the fact that both James and Ash reference a different Lugia from the 2nd movie.

James mentioned the lugia from the Orange Islands from the movie! Pupitars voice sound great :D I didnt know Richie had a Pupitar. Lugia feed her baby some sea weed. I finded very cute!

I thought the young Lugia was extremely cute. However, you can tell that it is still young by going to Team Rocket's fake Lugia. I like the references that were made by both James and Ash about the second movie. I am glad that Luka made a return, I really enjoy her as a character. I am also glad that Ritchie is back, and now he has a Pupitar! I thought the interactions between the mother and child Lugias was pretty neat. I feel bad for Oliver though, Once the mother Lugia finds out about her child disappearing, I doubt she will be able to trust Oliver to be around the young Lugia anymore.

I loved to see Lugia's baby.

And Butch & Cassidy's pokemon were so strong. wow.

This is one of the best episodes in the Johto series and a great debut for both Lugia and Dr. Namba.

The same way as any other pokemon. And like you said, the games isn't equal to the anime so you already answered your own question. Like with some other legendaries, Lugia isn't one of a kind. The Lugia in the Orange Islands was a different Lugia to the one in this episode.

Actually, the comment you have posted is quite N00bish in my opinion. Lugia is not like Ho-Oh or Suicune, etc. Like Articuno and other legendaries that are shown to not be one of a kind, Lugia can breed. You are entitled to your opinion but you don't need to be nasty about it.

What could be better than Richie, Baby Lugia, Mother Lugia, and Butch and Cassidy jam-packed in one episode!! This is one of the episodes that I really enjoyed so far in the Johto Saga.

Let's go to the beach, each.
So we finally got to see Richie after what seemed like a decade without him. I'm still wondering why they added him to this arc and not someone more current at the time, like a GS character. Anyway, loved that on the way to Ogi Isle, Ash and Co met up with Oliver and the elusive Lugia (in baby form) and the mother later on. I thought this episode raised more questions than it answered; I thought Legendary Pokemon couldn't reproduce at the time. We got to see Team Rocket and Butch and Cassidy appeared to ruin things, again. I did think their Pokemon were tough but only since they enhanced their strength with machines. Typical Team Rocket, 6/10.
