OK. I'm posting this because I want to draw some attention to it, and because I can't find a Sticky where it can go...
I was playing my Emerald a few days ago after I finished trading all my Pokémon from my LeafGreen. I went to a stroll to Route 123 to get some Berries, when I noticed something: there was a planted Berry in the Berry Master's garden. I was confused, for I had never planted a Berry there in my previous trips to that place.
I saved in front of it so I could pick the Berries and be done with it. However, the patch of land didn't change at all. I watered it a few times, left the GBA turned on for a while to see if there was some bug with the clock (Which would be illogical, because the clock still runs fine.), but nothing. The Berry just won't grow.
It is labelled as a Cheri Berry. I planted a Cheri Berry besides it. That one growed, but the other one didn't. And well... I just accepted that it's a glitch. And a very weird one at that.
I'll be honest. I traded a Mew, Celebi, Jirachi and Deoxys I cheated in my Ruby with Action Replay. And also cheated Pokérus, traded a Pokémon to infect it, and then traded back. I also traded back all Specials. I've traded with XD, LeafGreen and Ruby. My Liechi Berry was obtained from Mirage Island, which I sharked in my Ruby as well. I also got a few cheated Lucky Eggs. But aside that, I've NEVER cheated directly in my Emerald. And if I did, I didn't save after doing so...
This isn't much of a hindrance, to be honest. But it's rather annoying to have that never-growing Berry there. By now, I'll assume that Berry is an indication that the game had contact with "Illegal" stuff. That's the only conclussion I came up with. Which irks me, because I NEVER cheated directly in my Emerald cart, but once, and didn't save afterwards. I hard-erased my previous Save Data as well, which means any existan mess-up should be gone. And my Ruby never had such a problem, despite the fact I've cheated left and right on it...
Not to mention I did the same with my previous Emerald file, and this didn't happen at all. My only conclussion is that it's a cheat indicator. Probably triggered by XD, because it never happened in my last file, and I didn't have XD back then...
My other theory is that it's a weird variation of a Berry Glitch, which shouldn't exist in Emerald, but eh...
That's all I can say. Discuss, and if anyone knows about it, let me know. I'm not bothered, but... I'm slightly scared. =/
