Okay, disclaimer time! I do not own any characters from Pokemon, Yu-gi-oh or Beyblade. I am merely abducting them for a while, and placing them in my alternate universe. With that said, kindly enjoy!

Pokemon: The New Journeys

The following is intended to be read as a synopsis of the “episode”, akin to the guides found elsewhere on this fine website. This is just to avoid any confusion as to why I’m writing it like this.

English Title - 1: Squirtle, I Choose You!
Japanese Title - 1: Andrew! Start the Journey!

The stage is set for the final of the Indigo League pokemon competition. The two competing trainers are identified as Kai and Daichi, both of whom are down to their final two pokemon. Daichi has released Gengar, whilst Kai has chosen Nidorino. However, as the announcer points out, Kai’s Nidorino is a rare blue colour, instead of the normal pink.

Kai begins by calling for a Megahorn, and Daichi responds by ordering Gengar to attack with Shadow Ball. Nidorino dodges the attack, and hits Gengar dead on with its Megahorn, dealing a fair amount of damage. Daichi freaks whilst Kai remains calm, ordering Nidorino to follow up with a Shock Wave attack. The attack hits Gengar hard, and it recoils in pain. Daichi won’t give up yet, though, and orders Gengar to attack with Psychic. Nidorino is sent flying, and smashes into the stadium wall.

By now, both pokemon look exhausted, and Daichi orders Gengar to use Shadow Punch, whilst Kai demands another Megahorn. Nidorino smashes into Gengar just as the Shadow Ball is released, creating a massive explosion which blasts both pokemon. As Kai and Daichi look on, the smoke clears to reveal both pokemon are knocked out. Despite being reduced to one pokemon, Kai still seems confident, grasping a Pokeball bearing a flame symbol on the red half of the ball.

Daichi announces that he is now going to win, and releases his Flygon, which he refers to as Strata Dragoon. Laughing, Kai replies that he admires Daichi’s confidence, but that nothing can defeat his most powerful pokemon - Dranzer.

Kai releases Dranzer, which turns out to be a Moltres. The announcer excitedly explains that Dranzer has been with Kai for several years, following his discovery of the legendary pokemon’s egg. Daichi seems worried, and the referee orders the two trainers to begin the final battle.

Once again, Kai takes the initiative, ordering Dranzer to use Flamethrower, which blasts Strata and weakens the rare dragon-type. Daichi instantly retaliates with Dragon Claw, which scores a direct hit, but Dranzer barely seems to feel it. Strata follows up with Rock Slide, which sends a massive stream of boulders soaring up at Dranzer. Reacting quickly, Kai orders a Fire Spin, leading into Sky Attack. The announcer instantly recognises the combo attack Dranzer is preparing, its dreaded Phoenix Cyclone attack, an attack which no pokemon has yet survived.

Using Fire Spin, Dranzer erects a sphere of fire around itself, deflecting Strata’s Rock Slide, before swooping down at its opponent. Daichi orders Strata to use Dragon Claw, but Dranzer is too fast, and smashes its foe into the ground, blowing up a huge cloud of dust. As the two trainers look on, Dranzer soars into the sky triumphantly, Strata Dragoon lying fainted beneath it. The referee counts Strata out, and Kai is declared the winner.

At the presentation ceremony, Mr Goodshow gives Kai the Indigo League trophy, and congratulates him on his victory. Kai confirms that he shall return the following year to defend his title, and the President warns him that a new trainer is beginning their pokemon journey in a few days - Professor Oak’s younger grandchild, and Gary Oak’s sibling. Kai is shaken, but remains confident that with Dranzer at his side, no-one will beat him to the title…

A few days later, Professor Oak is presenting four new trainers with their first pokemon. The four trainers - Andrew, Thomas, Alana and Jonathan - are warned that, because Oak only has three starter pokemon, one shall have to wait until he can catch new pokemon. Andrew declares that he knows exactly which pokemon he wants, and reaches out to take the Squirtle’s Pokeball, but Alana gets there first and grabs the ball. Whilst the two bicker, Jonathan decides to take the Bulbasaur, and Thomas grabs the Charmander, much to Andrew’s horror.

Oak apologises and suggests that Andrew should return in a day or so to receive his own pokemon. Dejected, Andrew leaves whilst Oak gives the others their Pokeballs and Pokedexes.

However, once outside, Andrew hears a pokemon crying out and goes over to a nearby house to investigate. Near the house, a Squirtle has become trapped in a Rattata trap, and its leg has been injured. Freeing the wounded pokemon, Andrew races to Oak’s lab, where the Professor is still with the new trainers.

Seeing the wounded pokemon, Oak has Andrew bring Squirtle to his examination room, where he checks Squirtle’s injured leg. Finally, he announces that Squirtle should be fine after a few days of rest, to the assembled trainers’ relief. All but Thomas instantly volunteer to help Squirtle recover and Oak agrees to place the small turtle in their care. Thomas, however, leaves, saying that such things are a waste of his time.

The three remaining children, along with Bulbasaur and Alana’s Squirtle, spend nearly a week caring for the Squirtle, which is kept in bed with its leg bandaged up. During this time, Andrew asks the weakened pokemon if it would consider joining him and travelling together. Squirtle doesn’t answer, but nods slightly in thought.

Finally, Oak removes the bandages, and Squirtle is able to walk again. Oak and Squirtle thank the children for their help, and Andrew repeats his request to Squirtle. However, Squirtle feels that it should return to its family, who live nearby in the river. Although saddened, Andrew respects his new friend’s decision, and releases it, watching as it returns to the river.

Returning home, Squirtle is reunited with its family, including two Wartortle, which are obviously its parents. In the midst of the celebrations, Squirtle cannot help looking back at the laboratory where its friends are.

Andrew offers to remain at the laboratory and assist Oak until a new starter pokemon can be found for him. Oak accepts the offer, but then a huge explosion blasts a hole in the laboratory wall, sending everyone flying.

By the river, Squirtle sees the explosion and begins to run to the lab, before turning back to its family. The Wartortles simply nod, allowing their child to follow its heart. Nodding back, Squirtle runs to the lab.

In the laboratory, the smoke clears to reveal two sinister looking figures - Cassidy and Butch of Team Rocket! They say their motto, and announce that all of the pokemon in the lab are now the property of Team Rocket. Bravely, Alana and Jonathan step up to defend the pokemon, and release Bulbasaur and Squirtle to battle Cassidy and Butch.

In response, Cassidy sends out Raticate and Vulpix to battle, and Butch chooses Weepinbell. Oak chooses to get involved, too, and sends out the lab’s “protectors” - Kingler and Muk.

Cassidy and Butch decide to team up against the children first, with Weepinbell using Razor Leaf on Alana’s Squirtle, and Vulpix Flamethrowering Bulbasaur. Both pokemon are hurt by the attacks, and Raticate leaps forwards to finish them off.

Kingler and Muk get in the way to defend the tired starters, and take Team Rocket’s attacks head on. Kingler responds with a Bubblebeam on Vulpix, whilst Muk uses Sludge Bomb on Weepinbell. Realising that they cannot win fairly, Team Rocket order their pokemon to use their attacks on the shelves behind Kingler and Muk. The shelves collapse, burying the two pokemon and taking them out of the battle.

Alana and her Squirtle refuse to give up, though, and prepare to battle again. Cassidy orders Raticate to finish the girl and her pokemon off with a Hyper Fang attack. However, as Raticate attacks, Andrew leaps in the path of the attack, shielding Alana and Squirtle.

A water gun blasts Raticate as it attacks, blasting it into the wall. All eyes turn to see Squirtle enter the lab, fire burning in its eyes. Running to Andrew’s side, Squirtle confirms that it wants to help, and the pair challenge Team Rocket.

Cassidy demands a Flamethrower from Vulpix, and Butch orders Razor Leaf from Weepinbell. Dodging both attacks, Squirtle runs towards its opponents, and at Andrew’s command uses Bubble on Vulpix, sending it flying.

Next, Weepinbell uses Vine Whip. However, Squirtle catches the vine, and uses it to pull its opponent in close, delivering a powerful Tackle attack. As Raticate rejoins the battle, Squirtle blasts it with another Water Gun, smashing it into Team Rocket.

Pulling the shelves off of them, Kingler and Muk rejoin the fight, too, and surround Team Rocket. With a combination of Sludge Bomb, Bubblebeam and Water Gun, the three pokemon send Team Rocket blasting off once more.

Whilst Oak thanks everyone for their assistance in defending the lab, Squirtle and Andrew agree to travel together in Kanto. Oak presents Andrew with six Pokeballs and a Pokedex, wishing him luck on his impending journey. Grasping a Pokeball, Andrew welcomes Squirtle to the team, as the turtle pokemon leaps into the ball.

As Oak watches, the three trainers make their way to the edge of town, before choosing different paths to travel on. As the episode ends, the narrator announces that the journey is only beginning for Andrew and Squirtle, with new pokemon, trainers and rivals to face…

Well this is different, not sure how I feel about it right now. It's basically the show but with him getting Squirtle instead of Pikachu and him finding an injured Squirtle then Oak hanging him a not so tamed mouse. Try not to follow the show while you right. The name of the next chapter kind of sounds like it won't be but i'll have to wait and see. Its different just reading a summary and its decent length. I'd like to see it written out IMO. BUt will see how this goes...

Yay! I have readers! Thanks for the comments - I'm sorry, but this story will partially be sticking to the Kanto Gym Circuit structure, and you'll probably recognise a lot of the characters (human and pokemon) but it should be good fun! Next chapter should be up by Friday!

Okay, here's the next installment!

English Title - 2: Kai in the Sky
Japanese Title - 2: Kai! Champion Match!

Arriving in Viridian City, Andrew and his new partner Squirtle are ready to challenge the Gym Leader for a badge, for as all trainers know, only ownership of eight Gym badges permits a trainer to enter the world famous Indigo League. However, before they can find the Gym, two thugs stop them.

The thugs demand that Andrew hand over Squirtle, and release a Hitmonlee and Machoke to battle with. Squirtle seems ready to battle, but a cloaked figure intervenes, unleashing his own pokemon - a Moltres!

All three trainers instantly recognise the newcomer as the reigning champion, Kai, who expresses his disgust at the thugs’ cowardice, only feeling confident when battling a kid and a turtle two on one. Without giving any warning, Kai has Dranzer use Sky Attack, knocking out both pokemon with one hit. Bawling in terror, the thugs recall their pokemon and flee.

Andrew introduces himself, and thanks Kai for his assistance. Recalling Dranzer, Kai shrugs off the gratitude, stating that he only did what was right. Andrew expresses his intent to challenge the Gym Leader of Viridian City, but Kai calmly assures him that he doesn’t stand a chance against the Leader. His pride bruised, Andrew demands a match with Kai instead, but the champion refuses, claiming that the battle would be over in one round.

Annoyed, Andrew announces that he is going to beat the Gym Leader to show how strong he is, and that he expects a battle with Kai when he wins. Kai agrees, but repeats his opinion that Andrew won’t win.

Storming away, Andrew reaches the Gym, which is guarded by two soldiers. He requests a battle with the Leader, but the guards refuse to let him in unless he already has seven other Gym badges. Andrew protests, and the Gym Leader emerges to discover what the noise is for.

When the situation is explained, the (rather familiar) Gym Leader confirms that only the best trainers are allowed to battle in the Viridian Gym. However, he permits Andrew to challenge one of his employees to a one on one battle. Andrew agrees, and obviously chooses Squirtle. The employee, who identifies himself as Carson, releases Diglett.

Squirtle tries to use Bubble, but Diglett instantly digs underground and dodges the attack. Whilst Squirtle tries to work out where it is, Diglett bursts out of the ground and slams into the turtle pokemon. Before Squirtle can blast it, Diglett burrows again, frustrating Andrew.

Diglett again uses its hit and run attack on Squirtle, leaving a pattern of holes in the floor. Inspired, Andrew orders Squirtle to use Water Gun on one of the holes, flooding Diglett’s tunnels. Forced to surface to avoid getting drowned, Diglett bursts out just behind Squirtle, who instantly uses a close range Water Gun on Diglett, knocking it out.
The Leader is impressed by Andrew’s strategy, and decides that he may be an official challenger of the Viridian Gym in the future. However, he is alerted to the arrival of two employees, and is forced to leave, requesting that Andrew leaves the Gym too.

Kai is waiting outside, and Andrew confirms that he won his battle. Kai is shocked until he learns that the match was not official, and refuses to therefore battle Andrew himself. Andrew accuses him of breaking his promise, but Kai reminds him that the agreement was that Andrew would only get a battle if he beat the Leader, not one of the warm-up trainers.

Meanwhile, the Leader meets his employees, Cassidy and Butch (yes, Giovanni is the Viridian Gym Leader if you hadn’t guessed yet!). Impressed by Squirtle’s potential, he orders the duo to steal Squirtle and bring it to him.

Andrew is still pestering Kai, who is rapidly losing patience with the rookie. Kai warns Andrew that under the new format of the League, trainers must do more than just earn badges to enter the Indigo League. Three cities in Kanto - Cerulean, Celadon and Fuchsia - are holding tournaments throughout the year, and trainers must beat at least two of these tournaments to enter the League, in addition to earning eight badges. However, if a trainer can beat all three tournaments on their first try, they are automatically seeded into the Victory Tournament - that is, the top 32 trainers. Of course, as the reigning champion, Kai is automatically seeded in without having to win any new badges or tournaments.

A mechanical hand drops out of nowhere and plucks Squirtle off of Andrew’s shoulder. Turning, the two trainers find Cassidy and Butch standing behind them, along with their Raticate, Vulpix and Weepinbell, plus Andrew’s Squirtle, which is trapped in a cage.

Kai instantly demands that Team Rocket return Squirtle to Andrew, but they refuse, claiming that their boss wants Squirtle for himself. Kai angrily releases Dranzer once more, and calls for a Flamethrower. The attack roasts Team Rocket, knocking out all of their pokemon and breaking the cage containing Squirtle. Dranzer then uses Phoenix Cyclone to blast the evil duo off again.

Thanking Kai once again, Andrew tries once more to get Kai to battle him. Exasperated, Kai agrees, but insists that it won’t be his fault if Squirtle is hurt.

For the battle, Kai chooses Nidorino, which bellows angrily at Squirtle. Kai orders his pokemon to use Poison Sting, which hits Squirtle, but does not seem to cause much damage. Squirtle retaliates with a Water Gun, which Nidorino dodges effortlessly.

Already bored by Squirtle’s pathetic display, Kai calls for a Shock Wave from Nidorino. As the electric attack races towards it, Squirtle leaps out of the way, but the attack follows its every move and scores a direct hit, causing a lot of damage and knocking Squirtle out.

Andrew is confused by Shock Wave’s ability to follow Squirtle, and Kai explains that Shock Wave always hits without fail. Recalling Nidorino, he suggests that Andrew take Squirtle to the Pokemon Centre immediately, and prepares to leave.

As Kai walks away, Andrew calls out that the next time they battle, the outcome shall be different. Without turning back, Kai replies that it won’t, and keeps walking. The narrator comments how Kai has shown Andrew how much further he has to go to stand a chance against the trainers of the Pokemon League, and that Andrew now has a new goal: to defeat Kai, and prove his ability as a trainer…

English Title - 3: Doin’ the Pidgeotto!
Japanese Title - 3: Pidgeotto! Forest Battle!

Travelling through Viridian Forest, Andrew and Squirtle are still searching for wild pokemon to add to the team. Spotting a Pidgey foraging on the forest floor, Andrew instantly challenges the flying type pokemon to a battle, and Squirtle steps forwards to fight.

However, a Pidgeotto swoops in and blasts Squirtle in the face with sand, obscuring its vision. On cue, Andrew’s Pokedex helpfully explains that Pidgeotto is using Sand Attack. Ticked off at the device for stating the obvious, Andrew decides that the Pidgeotto would make a far more challenging opponent, and orders Squirtle to use Water Gun.

Unfortunately, both Pidgey and Pidgeotto are soaring away to safety, and Andrew has to run to keep up. Finally, the two pokemon land in a large tree and Andrew calls up to Pidgeotto, demanding a match. However, a huge Pidgeot dives out of the tree, blasting Andrew with a powerful Gust attack. Recovering quickly, Andrew orders Squirtle to use Water Gun, but Pidgeot dodges the attack and hits Squirtle hard with Wing Attack.

Deciding to retreat before Squirtle is knocked out, Andrew runs for it, carrying the exhausted pokemon in his arms. From a safe distance, he watches the tree and notices that several dozen Pidgey and Pidgeotto inhabit the tree with Pidgeot. Upon closer examination, the birds appear to be scared of something, but Andrew is the only other person in the area, and the pokemon can’t see him.

The reason for the bird pokemons’ unease soon becomes clear, as a huge flock of Spearow, led by a large, tough-looking Fearow, attack the tree. Whilst the Pidgey and Pidgeotto defend themselves from the Spearow, Pidgeot flies straight at Fearow. The two powerful pokemon soar higher into the air above the main battle as they fight, and are soon too far away for Andrew to see from the ground.

Returning his attention to the main fight, Andrew watches as the Pidgey he challenged earlier is attacked by several Spearow. The Pidgeotto from before swoops in to defend Pidgey, and is hit by a series of Fury Attacks. Terribly injured, Pidgeotto falls from the sky, landing hard on the ground and fainting.

The tide seems to be turning in favour of the Spearow, who steadily drive the Pidgey and Pidgeotto from the tree. Pidgeot and Fearow return to the battle, and Pidgeot reluctantly decides to lead the other pokemon to safety, surrendering the tree. In the confusion of the retreat, none of the pokemon notice Pidgeotto on the ground.

Knowing that he only has moments before the Spearow see him, Andrew runs to Pidgeotto’s side, and attempts to lift it, explaining that he knows of a Pokemon Centre nearby where Pidgeotto’s wounds can be healed. However, the bird type refuses to go, and attempts to attack Andrew with Gust. Realising that Pidgeotto will only injure itself further if it tries to battle, Andrew reluctantly plucks a Pokeball from his belt and taps it against Pidgeotto’s side, capturing it.

Running to the nearby Pokemon Centre, Andrew hands both Squirtle and Pidgeotto over to Nurse Joy, and settles down for a long night, wondering what the other pokemon will do following their eviction from their home…

In another area of the forest, the Pidgey, Pidgeotto and Pidgeot have regrouped, and Pidgeot encourages the others to fight to reclaim their home, because even if none of the others will, Pidgeot will fight to save its tree from the Spearow and Fearow. One by one, the other pokemon agree to fight, and the flock makes its way back to its rightful home…

The next morning, Nurse Joy returns Squirtle and Pidgeotto to Andrew, good as new. Releasing the pokemon from their Pokeballs, Andrew asks how they feel, but Pidgeotto is distracted by a noise in the distance. Without warning, it takes off and soars away to the tree, Andrew and Squirtle in close pursuit.

Above the tree, battle has already been joined between the two sides, with Pidgeot and Fearow furiously attacking each other in the centre. Pidgeotto instantly tries to soar into the melee, but Squirtle stops it and requests to be carried into the battle on Pidgeotto’s back. Pidgeotto agrees, and Squirtle jumps on, blasting Spearow with Water Gun as Pidgeotto swoops into the battle.

Wanting to do his part for the pokemon, Andrew begins to throw rocks at the Spearow, drawing several away from the battle and thinning their numbers. The Pidgey and Pidgeotto take full advantage of this, and begin to force their enemies away, assisted by Squirtle and Pidgeotto.

Angered by Andrew’s antics, Fearow breaks away from Pidgeot and soars towards Andrew, screeching angrily. Seeing Andrew in danger, Pidgeotto dives down and uses Aerial Ace, distracting Fearow and allowing Pidgeot to deliver a full-strength Quick Attack, which sends Fearow crashing to the ground.

As the two sides regroup, a Pikachu runs into the clearing and leaps high into the air, unleashing a powerful Thunder attack, which blasts all of the Spearow and chases them off. A mysterious young man, concealed beneath a hood and cloak, emerges from the trees and informs Pidgeot that the rest is up to it. Nodding, Pidgeot gathers its flock around it and smashes into Fearow, knocking it out. As the Fearow falls, the young man reveals a Pokeball and catches it, remarking that he has waited a long time to capture Fearow.

Approaching Pidgeot, the young man announces that the forest should now be safe for its flock to live in, and wishes it well for the future, before leaving with his Pikachu.

Whilst the Pidgey and Pidgeotto return to their tree, Pidgeot approaches Andrew, Squirtle and Pidgeotto. Andrew announces that he only captured Pidgeotto to get it safely to the Pokemon Centre, and says that Pidgeotto is free to return to its family. However, Pidgeotto shakes its head and decides to travel with Andrew anyway. Pidgeot nods in approval, and wishes Pidgeotto well for the future. Taking their leave, Andrew and his pokemon hit the road, returning to the Pokemon Centre to rest up before tackling the next stage of Viridian Forest.

Outside the Centre, a tall, stout man greets the travellers, and introduces himself as Mike. Asking if Andrew would like to battle with a powerful pokemon, Mike releases a Bulbasaur, and challenges Andrew to battle with him one on one. Choosing Pidgeotto, Andrew accepts; the stage is set for a fierce forest battle - Andrew isn’t out of the woods yet…

Defender of Justice
English Title - 4: The Pinchy Pokemon
Japanese Title - 4: Samurai! Squirtle vs. Pinsir!

The story rejoins our hero on the brink of his battle with Mike and his Bulbasaur. Choosing Pidgeotto to face Mike, Andrew confidently announces that he has the type advantage, and that Bulbasaur doesn’t stand a chance against a flying type. Mike simply replies that the outcome won’t be decided until the battle is over.

Andrew starts by ordering a Gust attack, and Bulbasaur futilely attempts to stand its ground against the cyclone-force winds. At Mike’s command, Bulbasaur uses Vine Whip to lash itself to a tree, holding it in place. From its secure position, Bulbasaur hits Pidgeotto straight on with a Razor Leaf, knocking it back and ending the Gust attack.

Bulbasaur tries to use Vine Whip once again, but Pidgeotto catches the vines, carrying Bulbasaur into the air. However, Bulbasaur reels in its vines, pulling itself underneath Pidgeotto and preventing it from using any attacks. Whilst Andrew tries to find a way out of his predicament, Bulbasaur begins a sustained Razor Leaf attack on Pidgeotto from close range. Finally, Pidgeotto falls from the sky and lands hard, barely able to stand.

Mike announces himself the winner, and suggests that Andrew have the Pokemon Centre heal Pidgeotto. Andrew agrees, and rushes inside, whilst Mike comments on Pidgeotto’s potential.

Inside the Pokemon Centre, Andrew leaves his pokemon with Nurse Joy, and is confronted by Mike once again. Mike explains that he is a pokemon trader, raising strong pokemon and then trading them to trainers who shall care for them. He compliments the strength of Pidgeotto’s Gust attack, and asks if Andrew would be interested in trading either of his pokemon for Bulbasaur. Although tempted by Bulbasaur’s show of power, Andrew declines, saying that he would rather keep Squirtle and Pidgeotto.

Disappointed, Mike mentions that he shall be in the area for some time, and that if Andrew catches any other pokemon, he might then be interested in trading for Bulbasaur. He announces that Andrew can have Bulbasaur if he can bring Mike a Beedrill, the ultimate plot device pokemon. Andrew agrees, and determines to seek out a Beedrill once his pokemon are healed.

Soon after, Andrew heads out to the forest to find a Beedrill. However, he has not gone far when he is challenged by another trainer, who introduces himself as Samurai. Andrew tries to escape by explaining that he is searching for Beedrill, but Samurai instead insists that if Andrew can defeat him, he shall lead him to a nearby Beedrill nest. Reluctantly, Andrew agrees, and chooses Squirtle, whilst Samurai sends out Butterfree.

Squirtle tries to Tackle Butterfree, but the bug type dodges and uses Gust, blasting Squirtle to the ground. Before Squirtle can recover, Butterfree uses Sleep Powder. The spores quickly do their work, sending Squirtle to sleep. Samurai laughs, claiming that Andrew is the most pathetic excuse for a trainer he has seen since a complete novice Samurai battled ten years ago, who actually tried to win using a Metapod.

Whilst Andrew begs Squirtle to wake up, Butterfree hits the water type with a Dream Eater attack, slowly recovering energy from Squirtle. Looking on in horror, Andrew realises that Squirtle won’t last much longer and calls out to it. Finally, Squirtle awakens, blasting Butterfree with a powerful Water Gun and cancelling the Dream Eater. Its wings soaked, Butterfree falls, and Squirtle tackles it head on, knocking it out.

Samurai declares that Andrew won’t defeat his most powerful pokemon, and sends out a Pinsir. Scanning it with the Pokedex, Andrew accepts that Pinsir will be a tough foe to beat, and warns Squirtle to watch out for Pinsir’s jaws.

Samurai orders Pinsir to open with Vicegrip, and Squirtle counters with Water Gun. Dodging the attack, Pinsir hits dead on, catching Squirtle in its jaws. Whilst Squirtle tries to escape, Samurai orders a Guillotine attack, causing Pinsir to increase the pressure on Squirtle until it faints. Dropping Squirtle before it, Pinsir bellows in triumph.

Warning Pinsir not to celebrate too early, Andrew releases Pidgeotto, and Samurai stiffens, but points out that Pinsir has defeated a Pidgeotto before, albeit one that was already exhausted from battling.

Andrew orders a Quick Attack, and Samurai counters with Seismic Toss. As Pidgeotto swoops in at Pinsir, the bug snatches it out of the air and slams Pidgeotto into the ground. Recovering quickly, Pidgeotto uses Wing Attack, slamming Pinsir right back. Pinsir tries using Seismic Toss again, but Pidgeotto dodges and blasts Pinsir with a Sand Attack.

Samurai isn’t fazed, though, and has Pinsir use Swords Dance. Spinning in place, Pinsir blows the sand away, and sees Pidgeotto in the air above it. Leaping up, Pinsir lands a solid Vicegrip.

By now, both pokemon are tiring, and Samurai orders a Guillotine from Pinsir, whilst Andrew orders a Quick Attack. Moments before the two collide, Andrew calls to Pidgeotto to abort the attack, and to roll to the side. Pidgeotto barely dodges Guillotine, and Pinsir’s body is left wide open as a result. Not missing the chance, Pidgeotto instantly doubles back and uses Aerial Ace, defeating Pinsir.

Congratulating Andrew on his victory, Samurai offers him several Potions to revive his pokemon, before leading them to the Beedrill nest. Announcing that he shall help Andrew with his capture, Samurai releases Butterfree, which uses Sleep Powder to send all of the Beedrill to sleep, before weakening one with Dream Eater.

Seizing his chance, Andrew releases a Pokeball, capturing the Beedrill easily. However, as he celebrates, the other Beedrill awaken, chasing the pair from their nest.

Much later, Andrew makes his way back to the Pokemon Centre, exhausted and muddy, where Mike is waiting. Handing over Beedrill’s Pokeball, Andrew confirms that he is willing to trade with Mike, and receives Bulbasaur’s Pokeball in return.

With Mike and all three of his pokemon at his side, Andrew finally makes it to the edge of the forest, overlooking Pewter City. Glancing at his companions, Andrew announces that the Pewter Gym is where they shall earn their first badge, and the pokemon - including Bulbasaur - happily agree. As Mike watches, a smile on his face, Andrew and his friends run down the hill to Pewter City, Pidgeotto soaring above them…

Sorry for the wait, people, episode 5 is finally up!

English Title - 5: Boulder Battle
Japanese Title - 5: Pewter Gym! First Badge!

The episode opens with Andrew approaching the Pewter City Gym, ready to earn his first badge. Near the door, a boy with a Totodile observes Andrew, deciding that he must be here to challenge the Leader, and that his confidence won’t help him against Flint. Beckoning Andrew over, the boy warns him that he should expect the unexpected if he enters the Gym.

Confused, Andrew opens the Gym doors, peering in to the pitch dark Gym. Suddenly, a huge pokemon bursts out of the shadows and grabs Andrew, pinning him in a bone-crushing hug. The lights are switched on, and Andrew finds himself in the clutches of a Ludicolo, which happily shakes him in greeting.

A man approaches, and apologises for Ludicolo’s overexcited welcome. He introduces himself as Flint, and reveals himself as the Gym Leader of Pewter City in his eldest son’s absence. He explains that the Ludicolo now cutting off Andrew’s air supply was trained by his son, and that it has bred whilst in the care of his family. Noticing that Andrew’s face has turned blue, he orders Ludicolo to release the young trainer, and Andrew collapses, gasping for breath.

The boy from before enters, and announces that Andrew wants a match, revealing himself to be one of Flint’s sons. Flint happily agrees to the match, and says that the battle shall be a three on three match, no time limit. If Andrew wins, he shall receive a Boulder Badge, placing him on the first step to the Pokemon League.

Facing Flint across the battlefield, which is covered in various boulders, Andrew prepares himself for battle, determined to win his first Gym battle. With Ludicolo cheerleading behind him and his son, Christopher, refereeing, Flint sends out his first pokemon, Geodude. Andrew responds by releasing Squirtle, and the battle begins.

Squirtle starts off by Tackling Geodude, but simply bounces off the living boulder and hurts itself instead. In response, Geodude uses Mega Punch, blowing Squirtle back, although the little turtle flips over in midair and lands, crouching, on one of the boulders, still willing to battle.

Geodude goes for another Mega Punch, but Squirtle stops it with a high power Water Gun, smashing Geodude into a boulder, before following up with another Tackle. Geodude is knocked senseless, and Christopher announces Squirtle as the winner. Flint warns Andrew not to start celebrating too early, since he has the perfect answer to Squirtle up next.

To Andrew’s horror, Flint releases a Lombre into the battlefield - a water/grass type, and the pre-evolution of Ludicolo. Having already guessed at Ludicolo’s power, Andrew realises that its offspring will be a tough opponent to beat.

Lombre begins by using Razor Leaf, which sends a torrent of leaves out in every direction, leaving nowhere for Squirtle to dodge. Desperately, Andrew orders Squirtle to dive behind one of the boulders, but the attack is too powerful and blasts through the rock, burying Squirtle and knocking it out.
Ludicolo excitedly blasts a Bullet Seed attack everywhere to celebrate Lombre’s victory, sending everyone diving for cover, whilst Andrew recalls Squirtle and readies his next pokemon; Pidgeotto!

Using Quick Attack, Pidgeotto lands a tough hit on Lombre, before soaring out of reach. From the ground, Lombre launches a Bullet Seed at Pidgeotto, but the flying type dodges the seeds and hits Lombre with Wing Attack. Recovering quickly, Lombre leaps onto Pidgeotto’s back and begins to pepper it with Bullet Seed, with Pidgeotto unable to attack in return.

Andrew orders Pidgeotto to start spinning in midair, in hopes of making Lombre dizzy. The ploy works, and Lombre falls from Pidgeotto’s back. Seizing its chance, Pidgeotto slams into Lombre with an Aerial Ace, an attack which ploughs both pokemon into the ground. However, when the dust settles, Lombre has been knocked out, and Pidgeotto is - barely - still fighting.

Flint won’t give up easily, and releases his final pokemon, Graveler! Realising that Pidgeotto doesn’t stand a chance, Andrew tries to call it back, but Pidgeotto refuses, determined to do its best to weaken Graveler. Flint orders Graveler to use Focus Punch, and Andrew calls for a Double Team, which divides Pidgeotto into four identical copies.

However, Graveler’s four arms allow it to strike all of the Pidgeotto copies, including the real one and knocking Pidgeotto out, leaving Andrew with one pokemon remaining. Ludicolo celebrates by locking Flint in a joyful stranglehold.

Andrew releases Bulbasaur, and orders it to use Vine Whip on Graveler. Flint swiftly warns Graveler, and tells it to catch the vines, before using them to drag Bulbasaur in. Graveler does this, and Bulbasaur is sent sailing towards its opponent. Andrew suggests that the grass type convert its momentum into a high power Tackle attack, but Graveler counters with Focus Punch, striking Bulbasaur with its three free arms and knocking it back.

Before Bulbasaur can recover, Flint has Graveler use Fire Blast on the weakened pokemon. Surprised by Graveler’s ability to use fire attacks, Andrew warns Bulbasaur, who dodges barely in time. A second Fire Blast follows the first, but this time Andrew is prepared, ordering Bulbasaur to use Leech Seed on the ground. The seeds sprout plants into the battlefield, and take the full force of Graveler’s attack. Although the plants are destroyed, the fire is directed into the ground, away from Bulbasaur.

Graveler now begins to use Rollout, barrelling towards Bulbasaur at breakneck speed. Andrew calls for a Razor Leaf, but the attack simply bounces off, and Graveler hits its target, sending Bulbasaur flying. Landing hard, Bulbasaur struggles upright, moments before Graveler strikes it again. Powerless to do anything, Andrew can only watch as Bulbasaur takes steadily more damage.

However, he then notices that Graveler holds its arms out to keep its balance when turning, and takes full advantage of the opening. Bulbasaur lashes out with Vine Whip, grabbing Graveler’s arms and holding them in place. Graveler is now trapped, mere feet from Bulbasaur, which begins pounding Graveler at close range with Razor Leaf.

Flint has one final card to play: Graveler may be held in place, but so is Bulbasaur, and a close range Fire Blast should be enough to finish Bulbasaur off. The attack begins to charge, and Andrew grimly calls on Bulbasaur to keep up the Razor Leaf, hoping to beat Graveler before it can unleash the attack.

However, Graveler succeeds in sending off the attack, and the Fire Blast soars into Bulbasaur, which is coated in light seconds before impact. At such close range, Graveler is caught in the blast too, and both pokemon are consumed by a mighty explosion.

When the smoke clears, both pokemon have collapsed, and are desperately trying to stand. Graveler succeeds, and bellows at Bulbasaur triumphantly, before succumbing to its injuries and fainting. Slowly, Bulbasaur stands, and releases its own cry of victory. Christopher announces that Andrew and Bulbasaur have won the match, and have therefore earned the Boulder Badge of the Pewter Gym.

Flint hands over the badge, and Andrew celebrates with his pokemon, although neither trainer can work out how Bulbasaur survived a close range Fire Blast. Having observed everything from the sidelines, Christopher mentions the light which surrounded Bulbasaur before the attack hit, and suggests that Bulbasaur was able to use Protect to deflect the attack.

However, this is impossible to prove, either way, and Andrew is too thrilled with his victory to care. Ludicolo congratulates him by half strangling him again, and Flint asks if Andrew is planning to move on immediately to Cerulean City. Andrew admits that he has decided to remain in Pewter City for the time being, following his exhausting trek through Viridian Forest.

Flint offers Andrew a place to stay for a few days until he leaves, and the young trainer accepts, offering to help out at the Gym to pay Flint back.

Meanwhile, on the outskirts of Pewter City, a young girl with a Pikachu (the FR/LG girl) gazes down on the Gym, and prepares for her own battle with Flint…

The episode opens with the narrator reminding the viewers how Andrew won his first Gym badge, and how he has agreed to stay at the Gym for a few days before setting off on the next leg of his journey. Having learnt that his Bulbasaur can apparently use Protect, Andrew is now battling with Flint’s son, Christopher, to confirm that Bulbasaur can indeed use the move.

Christopher releases a Totodile, which Andrew eagerly scans with his Pokedex. Not wasting any time, Christopher orders Totodile to use Water Gun, and Andrew tells Bulbasaur to try and use Protect. However, it only looks at Andrew blankly, before taking a direct hit from Water Gun. Christopher tells Totodile to attack again, and another blast is launched at Bulbasaur.

Andrew desperately calls out for Bulbasaur to use Protect, but Bulbasaur still looks confused, allowing Totodile to land another hit. Exhausted, Bulbasaur lands hard and seems almost defeated. Anticipating victory, Christopher orders Totodile to finish off Bulbasaur with Bite.

However, changing tactics instantly, Andrew orders Bulbasaur to use Razor Leaf, blasting Totodile at close range. Weakly, Totodile stands, and then both pokemon collapse, tired out from their battle.

Both trainers rush to check on their pokemon, and Andrew remarks that he would have won if he had just used Razor Leaf from the start. Christopher isn’t so sure, claiming that if he had released his other pokemon, Bulbasaur wouldn’t have stood a chance.

He goes on to mention how two trainers have passed through Pewter City recently, a boy with a Charmander, and a girl with a Squirtle like Andrew. Realising that Christopher must be referring to Thomas and Alana, Andrew asks how the battles unfolded.

Christopher explains how Thomas had his Charmander use Metal Claw to defeat Geodude, before drawing with Graveler in a Flamethrower/Fire Blast face-off. In the final round, Thomas used his own Pidgeotto to defeat Lombre with Gust attack.

In Alana’s battle, she used a Spearow against Lombre, but was defeated by the same Razor Leaf attack which almost defeated Andrew’s Pidgeotto. Releasing Butterfree, she then defeated Lombre with Gust, before beating Geodude with Confusion. Graveler defeated Butterfree with Fire Blast, but was then overcome by Squirtle’s Water Gun.

Although pleased to hear that Alana successfully earned her own Gym badge, Andrew wonders where Jonathan can have got to, to not have earned his own badge yet.

One of Christopher’s brothers runs outside, announcing that a new trainer has come to challenge Flint. Hoping that the challenger is Jonathan, Andrew follows Flint’s sons inside the Gym to watch the battle.
However, the challenger is not Jonathan. Instead, a young girl stands opposite Flint, challenging him for a Boulder Badge. The girl introduces herself as Tamara, and announces that she shall soon be the owner of the Pewter Gym’s Badge.

Flint informs her that the rules are a three-on-three knockout match, but Tamara admits that she only has two pokemon, Pikachu and Elekid. Flint is surprised that the girl wants to challenge a Rock-type Gym with Electric pokemon, yet admits that he has seen Electric-types defeat Rock-types before, allowing her to battle two-on-two.

Tamara releases Elekid first, and Flint responds by sending out Geodude. Flint orders Geodude to use Magnitude, and Tamara calls for a Thunderpunch. Elekid hits first, but the attack completely fails to hurt Geodude. In response, Geodude strikes the ground with its fist, creating a violent tremor which shakes the battlefield and blasts Elekid off its feet.

Geodude follows up with a Mega Punch, striking the fallen Elekid and causing even more damage. Weakly, Elekid stands, knowing that its electric attacks are useless against Geodude. Flint orders one more Mega Punch, and Tamara orders for another Thunderpunch. Up on the gantry, Andrew and Christopher know that Elekid has had it, but can’t say anything to Tamara to warn her. The two pokemon collide, falling to the ground. Geodude gets up instantly, but Elekid collapses and faints.

Down but not out, Tamara releases her second pokemon, Pikachu. Andrew asks Christopher if Pikachu really stands a chance, and he replies that there is a slim chance, if Pikachu has a more useful set of attacks than Elekid.

Flint orders a Mega Punch, and Tamara counters with Agility. Speeding up instantly, Pikachu leaps high into the air above Geodude, dodging the attack. Taking advantage of Geodude’s surprise, Tamara calls for an Iron Tail attack. Pikachu’s tail glows brightly, and it slams into Geodude’s head, knocking it to the ground. Pikachu then uses Quick Attack to finish Geodude off, knocking it out.

Flint congratulates Tamara on her strategy, but warns her that a greater challenge awaits her next. Releasing Graveler, he orders a Focus Punch attack. Pikachu dodges again, and hits Graveler with Iron Tail. However, Graveler catches Pikachu’s tail, hitting it with the other three arms for its Focus Punch attack.

Tamara isn’t finished yet, and orders Pikachu to use Iron Tail again. As Pikachu leaps towards Graveler, its tail suddenly stops glowing - the attack has failed. Taking full advantage of the situation, Flint orders Graveler to use Fire Blast.

Trapped in the air, Pikachu has no chance and takes the attack head on, knocking it out. Dejected, Tamara recalls Pikachu and leaves, whilst Andrew and Christopher comment on how using Iron Tail almost worked.

The next morning, the two trainers are testing Bulbasaur’s abilities once again, Bulbasaur against Totodile. As before, Bulbasaur is taking a lot of damage, but Andrew refuses to give up. Totodile goes to use Water Gun again, and Andrew frantically orders Bulbasaur to use whatever attack it used against Flint at the end of the Gym battle.

Bulbasaur begins to glow, deflecting the attack, and Andrew’s Pokedex confirms that Bulbasaur can use Protect. Ready to begin the battle properly, Andrew tells his pokemon to use Vine Whip, smashing into Totodile. Not giving Totodile a chance to recover, Bulbasaur finishes off its opponent with Razor Leaf.

Christopher challenges Andrew to defeat his second pokemon, too, and if Christopher wins, he can travel with Andrew through Kanto. Andrew agrees, yet allows Christopher to travel with him regardless of the outcome.

Christopher sends out an Onix, and orders a Slam attack. Onix swings its tail directly at Bulbasaur, and Andrew tells it to use Protect. Glowing, Bulbasaur deflects the attack, but seems to be tiring.

Bulbasaur strikes back with Razor Leaf, hurting Onix, before Christopher commands a Dig attack. Onix burrows underground, and Andrew orders Bulbasaur to use Protect, defending itself from the burrowing Onix.

However, the Protect suddenly flickers and fades, leaving Bulbasaur vulnerable. Onix bursts out of the ground and sends Bulbasaur flying, before defeating it with another Slam. Despite the loss, Andrew is thrilled at the chance to train with Christopher whilst travelling in Kanto.

A short while later, the two trainers are leaving Pewter City when they meet Tamara, the girl from the Gym. She too is leaving, preparing to head home to Vermilion City in the south. Andrew invites her to join them and she accepts - although she promises to leave when they reach her hometown.

The episode ends with the narrator describing how the three trainers have now been brought together, and that they shall face tough challenges and meet many new friends in the world of Pokemon…

Defender of Justice
English Title - 7: Battle on Mount Moon
Japanese Title - 7: Geodude! Mount Moon Battle!

The episode begins with a recap of how Andrew won his first Gym Badge from Flint, and how he met his new companions, Christopher and Tamara. Now the three trainers are travelling up Mount Moon to get to Cerulean City, and the next Gym.

Around a campfire, the trainers reveal their personal goals as trainers. Andrew confirms that his aim is to battle his way to the Indigo League final, where he intends to have a rematch against the current Champion, Kai. However, Christopher reveals that, even if Andrew defeats Kai, he won’t be recognised as the Champion.

Christopher explains that the individual Leagues have been reconfigured into the new World Circuit, consisting of the Indigo, Johto, Hoenn and Orange Leagues. Trainers aiming for the World Champion title must battle in all four Leagues, before the top sixteen trainers in the world are brought together in the World Finals, where the true Champion shall be crowned.

Christopher then admits that he intends to enter the Indigo League himself, although as a Gym Leader’s son he automatically counts as having earned four Gym Badges - he only needs to earn Badges from the Tournament hosting cities around Kanto (Cerulean, Celadon and Fuchsia), as well as the Badge from his hometown, Pewter City. He displays his badge case proudly, which contains the Boulder, Thunder, Marsh, Volcano and Earth Badges.

Realising that Christopher must have earned his Boulder Badge by battling Flint, Andrew demands to know how he won. Whilst Christopher explains how he used Totodile and Onix, a shadowy pokemon watches from the rocks.

Next, Tamara admits that she has few goals as a trainer, other than to raise her pokemon well and become a Gym Leader some day in the future. She explains how her elder brother gave her Pikachu, and taught it how to use Iron Tail to give it an advantage over rock-type pokemon. She received Elekid when an egg being cared for back home hatched, and the Elekid inside chose her to look after it.

A rustling in the bushes startles the trainers, and suddenly a large group of Zubat attack the group. Andrew releases Pidgeotto to battle, Christopher sends out Totodile and Tamara chooses Pikachu.

Using Thunderbolt, Pikachu manages to drive off some of the Zubat, and Pidgeotto’s Gust attack blasts several more. However, Totodile is attacked by another pokemon, one far larger and more dangerous; a Golbat.

Using Wing Attack, Golbat strikes Totodile down, before doing even more damage with Air Cutter, directing a cross-shaped air blast at Totodile. Severely injured, Totodile collapses, and Christopher recalls it to prevent it from fainting, sending out Onix.

Using Slam, Onix delivers a powerful hit to Golbat, before wrapping the bat pokemon in its tail for a Bind attack. Seeing that Golbat is weakening, Christopher sends out a Pokeball, which catches Golbat and traps it inside.

However, the capture of Golbat only angers the Zubat further, and they gather together for a new attack. Still watching the group, the shadowy pokemon from before leaps between the trainers and Zubat and self-destructs, creating a huge explosion which chases away the Zubat and knocks the children and their pokemon senseless.

Waking hours later, the trainers discover that their saviour is a Geodude, which has been knocked out by its own attack. Recovering Potions from their backpacks, the children quickly set about healing the wounded pokemon, which is soon back to full health. Andrew thanks Geodude for its help, and the trainers prepare to move on.

Several mechanical arms descend and grab Squirtle, Pikachu and Totodile from their trainers. Spinning, the trio are confronted by Cassidy and Butch, who say their motto before releasing their pokemon to capture the children’s remaining Pokeballs.

Andrew demands to know why Team Rocket are obsessed with stealing his pokemon, and they reply that they want revenge for their humiliating defeat back in Pallet Town, and that they won’t give up until each and every one of Andrew’s pokemon belongs to them.

Christopher releases Golbat, and Tamara sends out Elekid to battle. Andrew is about to choose Bulbasaur, but Geodude comes forwards, offering to battle Team Rocket.

Elekid starts things off with a Thunderpunch on Raticate, whilst Golbat strikes Weepinbell with Air Cutter, blasting both pokemon into Team Rocket and sending them sprawling. Geodude’s fist begins to glow with a gold light, and it strikes a rock on the ground, blasting the boulder apart and sending fragments crashing into Vulpix.

Christopher announces that Geodude can use Rock Smash, and Andrew orders the attack again, which buries Team Rocket under a pile of rocks. Now free from the mechanical arms, the captured pokemon return to their trainers, ready to finish Team Rocket off.

Vulpix uses Fire Spin to surround the team with a wall of flames, but Geodude begins to use Rollout, the speed of its rotations dissipating the flames and striking Vulpix, whilst Golbat uses another Air Cutter to knock out Weepinbell. Now with only Raticate to defend them, Team Rocket try to retreat, but Tamara orders Pikachu and Elekid to combine their Thunderbolt attacks to send the evil duo blasting off again.

Andrew thanks Geodude for its help again, and invites it to join the trio on their journey. Geodude accepts, but only if Andrew can beat it in a pokemon battle first. Excited, Andrew releases Bulbasaur to battle, and prepares for his first real wild pokemon battle.

Geodude starts by using Rock Smash, but Bulbasaur deflects the flying boulders with Protect, before using Razor Leaf to fend off its opponent. Geodude dodges, then uses Rollout to strike Bulbasaur head on.

Recovering quickly, Bulbasaur uses Razor Leaf to hit Geodude, which barely slows down before hitting Bulbasaur with a more powerful Rollout attack. As the duel between Bulbasaur’s Razor Leaf and Rollout continues, Christopher points out that the Razor Leaf attacks are still having some effect on Geodude, and that it is still weakening.

Taking advantage of the advice, Andrew has Bulbasaur use Protect to defend itself from the most powerful attack yet. The two moves hit dead on, with Bulbasaur’s shield slowly flickering and fading as the attack continues. Reacting quickly, Andrew releases a Pokeball, capturing Geodude just as Bulbasaur’s shield collapses.

Now with a new pokemon on his belt, Andrew and his friends finally make it off of Mount Moon, with Cerulean City. However, the adventures aren’t over yet, as a very rare pokemon bursts out of the grass - an Eevee. As the trainers prepare to face off with the little pokemon, who knows what new surprises lie just around the corner?

Wahey, thank you for the support! Massivve apologies for the lack of new scripts, I've been in my exams - hopefully the next few episodes will be worth the wait!

Those episode guides on the site however should be noted as summarizing a basic overview of existing visual material, not made up. Because of this I can't say this really works, it's acting more of a very basic fanfiction with lots of assuming people will undertand.

How does he dodge, how does he attack, how do they speak? Least the summaries have piccies for the most part to help the visualization.
