The Official Advice Thread

Let madness take you
And it won't happen until after I've left Ottawa (since I apparently can't go clubbing or anything while I'm here), leaving me comically frustrated for the next 26 days.

But actually I'll find myself with a calm Chansey.

Skyrim is the answer.

I need advice on getting my first car. I turned 17 in December and I got my license at the end of December but I still haven't gotten my car yet I'm trying to convince my parents to get me something but I want it to be small. Does anyone have a good car in mind that I could get used for a low price?

Quite a few come to mind. I can tell you one thing, though. Stay away from Dodge/Chrysler. I have a Neon (200,000k+ miles and running good) and was considering a few part replacements. Thing is....... many of the parts seem to be too specialized. If something goes wrong, you coming outta your pockets deep.

Previous generation small cars that are still very common and seen as reliable. *Cheap as well

Toyota: Civic, Corrolo, Camry

Honda: Accord

Mazda: 3, Protege

Nissan: Altima, Maxima (not all that cheap)

The Lexus ES is hailed as extremely reliable in many circles as well, though it isn't all that cheap. Personally, I would love to get my hands on a Subura Impreza or a Mitsubishi Lancer. My family has had a Mitsubishi Mirage since I was 8 (I'm 20) and it still runs well.

As long as the car is in good condition, and the owner/agency provides you with a detailed and reliable history, you should be okay.

Another user could probably give you a more specific answer, though.

*I started to list cars from more automakers, but I felt like that was sufficient. Someone else probably could give you a broader list as well.

Hey, I've got a problem. So I draw IRL whenever work is done and I do it under my desk in my classes because it's done secretly from other guys since I have a tendency of drawing anime girls from Pokemon(I.E: Drawing Rosa with Nate), and sometimes they would call it hentai, yet it didn't show any revealing clothing, the hips weren't even very curvy, the breasts were average for a teenage girl like her, and they ignored Nate and they spreaded rumors of me drawing hentai which really bothered me enough to almost go off on them.

Also, some kept telling me to stop drawing a lot, and yet I tell them that I do it at home, and they still tell me to stop. And they tell me to stop liking Pokemon and anime(though I watch these kinds that have action, a plot, and sadness, like FMA: B or DBZ or Fairy Tail or whatever) and they do that to me a lot. Yet teachers have the right to tell me to stop when a class is going but yet they do it a lot in a forceful way. Yet I see others do it and do they get scolded for it? No, so it's pressuring me a lot. Yet I'm a freshman.

nobody ha the right to tell you how to live your life. If they don't understand what your doing, and are not open to enlightenment, they are close minded and stupid. You just need to find people who do appreciate you for what you do and who you are. There is no point stopping something because all the "cool" kids don't want you to do it.

My parents were actually talking about a Honda Accord, and a Toyota Camry but I was thinking about a Hyundai Sonata.

Thanks. Because, some of my classmates don't like it yet others don't attack me and don't care since they accept it, yet barely anyone defends me for liking what I like. I'm not much of a fighter, and that's why I don't defend myself or they might make a big deal of it.

You don't need to defend yourself, as often they won't listen. It is well known logic and facts have no place in many arguments, which reflects on how terrible our society is, with their being too many ignorant people, refusing to accept what isn't their way of life.

If they continue to hassle you about it and it turns into bullying, that's where the problem starts. You can then either go through the whole "contact authorities, have them do nothing" cycle, or give in and do your art only where it does not affect them.

Why do draw under your desk. That has to be bringing attention to yourself, if you just did normally I'd like to think no one would question what you were doing unless they went out of their way to do so.

Also, I'm pretty sure that 99.99% of those classmates watch porn so they have no room to talk.

I do it because I always try to focus while doing it so others can't see. I get really nervous whenever some gets to see it rather my close friends because it's in anime style, and like that incident I mentioned, that's the reason.

If they say you're drawing hentai, then they either just want to make fun of you or they don't know what hentai is. Also, they might be less likely to make fun of you if you were to draw out in the open instead of hiding your work. When you hide what you're drawing, it makes you look like you have something to hide in the first place - that's probably how the hentai rumor started. If you stop hiding your work, everyone will see what you're drawing and there won't be any reason for there to be rumors anymore.

I, too, draw in class - I'm an artist and I've been drawing on my notes since I was about 6, and I'm in my 20s now. I understand what it's like to be shy about your work. Every artist thinks that everyone else's work is better than their own. And let me tell you - it ISN'T. My work is not better than yours and yours is not better than mine. Every artist has a different style. I know that this is easier to say than it is to do, but it sounds like you need to stop worrying about what other people think of what you're drawing, even if it's something "nerdy" like Pokemon. I draw Pokemon all the time and people compliment me on it. Furthermore, your close friends aren't going to abandon you over it because they've already seen your drawings. So stop hiding what you're doing - that's why the rumors are starting.

Oh and one more thing - as long as you're paying attention and taking notes in class while you're drawing, you should be fine. I have never in my 20 years of school ever seen a teacher reprimand a student because he or she was doodling.

I have a 2007 Honda Civic, I love it. Hondas in general are great cars, fuel efficient, compact, easy to drive.

At the end of the day, it's your car, so you should have a say in what you want. If you want a Sonata then look around for that, compare it to other models you're looking for, just be sure to do a test drive and get a good feel for the car.

How about you stop drawing during class and do it when you have time not to hide it under your desk like during lunch or at home?

Ehh all of you are right. I decided to do it more a home so it won't be a distraction to school.

Thank you, really. I do show it to them sometimes and they don't really make a big deal about it, so yeah. I'll lighten a little bit.
