• Hi all
Just a notice, we recently discovered that someone got into a moderator account and started hard deleting a load of key and legacy threads...around 150 threads have been lost dating back to 2007 and some weeks ago so we can't roll the forums back.
Luckily no personal data could be accessed by this moderator, and we've altered the permissions so hard deleting isn't possible in the future
Sorry for any inconvenience with this and sorry for any lost posts.
  • Hi all. We had a couple of reports of people's signatures getting edited etc. in a bad way. You can rest assured this wasn't done by staff and nobody has compromised any of our databases.

Does anyone know of any official Sugimori Art from gen 1 of the gym leaders? I feel like that would be a fantastic find.

Well hello, hello, hello! It's been quite a while, hasn't it? Well, fear not, I've got some goodies for all of you!

Pokémon.com updated their website today, and with it came the best quality Sugimori artwork we've gotten for most Pokémon (aside from those that we have high-res versions of). So I've zipped them up for all of you to enjoy - download your hearts out!
This is truly amazing, thanks! It's the most complete set of ripped arts so far!
But I noticed there's a gap between 646_f4 (Active White Kyurem) & 646_f6 (Active Black Kyurem)... Is it possible there really is a yet-to-be-seen forme of Kyurem?

I just found this thread after it got bumped, and I am wondering how much of the Sugimori Pokémon artwork for Red/Blue has been found and uploaded in good quality.

(For the record, if you don't know, the normal Gen 1 art we see on the internet is the Red/Green art. You can tell if Sugimori art is from Red/Blue if it corresponds to a low-res version used for the anime. They have more reserved poses and you can find the art on packaging, trading cards, the Japanese Blue guidebook, and other merchandise.)

I have been working to rip as much of the available art as possible into transparent and high quality versions. I have used TCG scans and recently I have found a couple Amada sticker scans in decent quality. However, not all the Pokémon are available and I am wondering if anyone has found high quality versions.

Here are some so far:

Dratini
Charmander
Ekans

What do you think? Do you guys know any more resources for the Red/Blue art? I would be much obliged.

I'm working on trying to get this figured out for PidgiWiki. However, I've got them flipped compared to your system; that Charmander, for example, is under Red and Green on PidgiWiki (see the Red and Green category compared to the Red and Blue category).

I had never seen Mew's R/G artwork before; it looks hideous, almost as bad as its R/G sprite in my opinion. Do we have Ken Sugimori R/G artwork for all 151 Kanto Pokemon?

Curious if there's any official artwork of Red doing stuff (For example, there's artwork of the D/P protagonists during the Shaymin event, and Ethan/Lyra during the Arceus event).

I don't quite remember if it was here that was posted but has anyone collected all arts of Dream World up-to-date?
I have a .zip file with all arts up to before the mega evolution arts started being revealed...

Ah... I was talking about it because I'm not sure if it had been previously posted here and I was hoping someone had an updated compiled version of the arts...

YES, I absolutely loved the dream world art! It's such a pity that XY/ORAS doesn't have one quite like it. Was it also all made by Sugimori & Co.?

Sugimori didn't draw it, for sure. I've been meaning to get them all uploaded to PidgiWiki, as I believe I have all up through most of B/W stored on my hard drive.

By the way, the style of art used for Dream World is evidently known internally as "corporate art".
